‘Species Annihilation’: ‘One Nation’ L.A. Rally Features Rep. Waters and Danny Glover

By now the stories coming out of the “One Nation” rally in D.C. are familiar: a mosaic of Republican vilification, trash-strewn knolls, and discredited claims that the rally‘s attendance exceeded that of Glenn Beck’s 8/28 rally. But what may not be known is that One Nation hosted other rallies across the country to coincide with the one in D.C.

The largest such event took place in Los Angeles. And while the location was different, the message, the players, and attendance discrepancies were all present at the West Coast event too.

The local ABC affiliate reports the crowd pushed 5,000. But a first-hand account by David Dayen puts that number in question: “I’m terrible at estimating, but I’d put it at 1,500 people.”

But while the number of attendees is in question, the make-up is not. Dayen described the crowd as “labor-heavy,” adding, “I saw members from SEIU, ULTCW, UAW, CWA, USW, AFSCME, CSEA, UFCW and AFTRA … along with representatives from Organizing for America.”

That mirrors the D.C. rally, as our own Meredith Jessup describes it: “Within minutes one becomes quickly acquainted with the landscape’s color scheme: red shirts = CWA union members; light blue shirts = teachers union members; dark blue shirts = auto workers; and, of course, the infamous purple shirts of the SEIU.”

The message was similar too. “We are here today to fight for good jobs for everyone, a secure home, justice for all people and quality education for our children,” Dayen quoted one SEIU leader as saying. In addition, he quoted a gay rights activist who he said “typified the views of the speakers: “I’m 23, undocumented, queer and unafraid,” said a UCLA student named Diego. “Can our country risk losing students like me?”

Unlike Glenn Beck’s 8/28 rally, Dayen noted that signs were a staple among the crowd’s faithful. “My favorite sign said ‘TEA: Tax Executives a Lot,’ Which actually spells TEAL, but I’ll give the sign holder the benefit of the doubt.”

But confused signs didn‘t seem to quell the enthusiasm of the rally’s organizers. Activist Wyatt Closs summed up the event in the Huffington Post by quoting a press release: “[T]housands of Californians gathered in Los Angeles for a ‘Day of Action’ meant to re-energize and inspire 500,000 Californians to go the polls in November, and in 2012, to fight for the change most Americans voted for in 2008.”

“A beautiful giant collage art piece,” Closs added in his description. He praised the celebrities in attendance, including Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Danny Glover who he said “rocked it and told the truth.“ That truth included a tirade against ”bosses“ and ”species annihilation”:

As the event wound down, Glover implored the rally’s attendees to “continue to fight for the change we voted for in 2008.”

It remains to be seeing if Glover’s charge will be answered. For now, while quick to praise the rally, Closs seems reluctant to label it a sign of things to come. “[W]hat was missing were many of the smaller moments that really signal the possibility of something dynamic being able to unfold for the progressive community,” he wrote, and later asked, “will this spark rekindle the spirit of hope we felt in 2008?”

What’s the ifference between a Democracy and an Aristocracy? Both hold up useless fops and hold down good people. America is infected with Negrophilia as Eric Rush so aptly puts in in new book title.

What’s Glover talking about? He still makes movies. He always makes such violent movies though. The same could be said for most Hollywood actors. The make their living portraying violence and then they scream about what happens in real life. Idiots!

Seidl- your credentials are a joke, and your writing is even worse. Get some talent on here, Beck. Seriously, this site hasn‘t met the kind of standards we’d expect from someone with as much to say about the mainstream media’s lack of integrity. Is this a news site, or a smear blog? It appears that the label “THE STORIES” means blog posts from as skewed an angle as one can find- even if you agree with every point the writer implies, we deserve better. Some straight news, not opinions and agendas laced within the stories. What a joke.

Progressive,Socialist,Communists never get it. You can have stacks of evidence to support the truth (proof),you can have pictures, video, audio recordings, and phone records. You can have D.N.A. evidence, fingerprints, and sworn confessions right in front of their eyes, they can touch it,see it, smell it, understand it and they will deny the truth. The only way they will wake up is when they become obsolete to the Gov……insert horrible scenario here……then and only then,at the end, they will understand the truth…quite sad actually but deserved….

You go! We’re on your side. Locked and loaded, indeed. We lived in Central America LEGALLY for many years. NOT ONCE, did they offer to change their language to English, or to French, or to German, or to Italian, or to Russian. Not once. And, if we had gone to their medical folks for help and NOT BEEN DOCUMENTED LEGAL RESIDENTS, we would not only have been refused care, but turned in to the authorities…. HELLLLLOOOOO, AMERICA. Wake up! THINK, PRAY, VOTE, LOCK AND LOAD AND PRAY SOME MORE!!!! Thinking here: why aren’t all those who identified themselves as traitors this past Saturday not arrested for treason? I was thinking the same thing! 50 years ago these people would have been rounded up and treid as a group. The leaders would have been hung in public ceramony and the rest would have been exiled to mexico or some other country, I’m sure Cuba could make use of them.

No matter what your political affiliation, this supposed “news” site features some of the most biased and low-quality news writing I’ve ever read. It is honestly ridiculous. The writers are of the worst sort- and have taken the idea of journalism to the worst end. For all their talk about the mainstream media’s lack of neutrality, they seem only to take it as a suggestion to do the same with a bent toward their beliefs. Now, I understand fight fire with fire, and all that, but how about just writing clearly, concisely and accurately- and leaving the biased lead ins and soliloquies to the mainstream media? Might make it a little easier for those of us who aren’t taking sides to get the stories.

I read, and research, and study about all these groups who were “rallying” Saturday and can tell you they make me afraid for the first time for this great country. I spent 28 years in the US Army Special Forces and knew who the enemy was. This internal enemy has the same goal, the destruction of America and I have no intention of sitting on the sidelines while it happens. Get off your rear end and do something, or not. Its hard to watch such rubbish when I am wondering what happened to One Nation “Under God” ? What happened to working for a living and taking proud in making your own way without relief, handouts, generational welfare and othe free benefits that takes away a man’s pride in himself ? These phoney hollywood actors stand up there with millions in the bank, this is just a game to them. We MUST follow the Constitution, we MUST stop this Administration from spending us into a virtual hole in the ground. We MUST stop the rise of Socialism and Communism that will destroy our country and turn us into a 3rd world nation. These people with this rally are some sick puppies and the leaders of it are merely using the poor in this country to suit their own selves. A pity…

There were some Hollywood personalities I used to enjoy, Danny Glover was one. I have lost respect for many of them.

They have profited handsomely from us the movie going and television watching public. They have become multi millionaires off the American viewers. WE paid them to perform.

Now, however, they can only find fault with the system that gave them what they have. Well, I have a bold suggestion for them. GIVE all their millions to charities like Make a Wish Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and other worthy organizations. Keep just enough to buy a ticket to a Socialist or Communist country in Asia or Europe. Then, maybe they will find a country they will be happy with.

Somewhere along the line of this kid’s education at UCLA he has been convinced that the “queer” and “undocumented” represents an important part of the fuel that keeps America chugging along. Rather, his value to the United States is more equal to a spec of carbon in the fuel injector. His wrong-headed professors have undoubtedly taught him this unjustified, inflated sense of importance.
The criminal point here, if I may boil-it-down, is the preponderance of educators in our nation who have indoctrinated our youth with such proposterous notions. I’ve seen a growing number of people and organizations making efforts to rid us of this blight on America but I feel that there is a greater sense of urgency for reform. The “One Nation Rally” punctuates the necessity to begin a house cleaning of America’s higher education institutions immediately. Please search out the organizations working toward tenure reform, educational content standards, etc. and support them.

“I’m 23, undocumented, queer and unafraid,” said a UCLA student named Diego. “Can our country risk losing students like me?” RISK? I would PAY to lose someone like you. And I call BS on the unafraid. Unless you also label yourself stupid. But I guess you have already proven that. So BS.

In Ohio and many other states, last day to register to be able to vote on November 2nd is today, Monday, October 4th. You know what to do in order to protect liberty.

A UCLA student named Diego said, “I’m 23, undocumented, queer and unafraid. Can our country risk losing students like me?”

Diego, let’s get a few things straight.

First, you are here illegally so you are a criminal, residing in our country without our permission. You are welcome to go home and apply to return here legally under a student visa, providing you can meet the requirements.

Second, as a non-US citizen, and especially as an illegal alien, you do not have a right to free speech, to protest, to join a union, to attend college or to participate in the political process; these rights are reserved for US citizens.

As far as being “queer,” who cares?

“Unafraid?” This really implies that our Government is so corrupt and/or inept that it cannot (or will not) enforce its own laws. Your speaking out in public should have at least given you pause, considering you are illegal and should have been arrested and deported (very unceremoniously I might add).

So, can our country afford to lose students like you (outspoken, politically active illegal aliens with no vested interest in our country)? As a previous poster indicated, we cannot afford to keep you.

Please, Diego doesn’t need to tell us of his sexual preferences. We just don’t care about things like that, and it won’t change our opinion of Diego one bit either way. I say, yes, we can afford to lose Diego. My opinion isn’t based on his age, choice of school, sexual preferences, or foolish lack of fear. I only needed one piece of information to make my decision, and you provided it when you said Diego was undocumented. If he came here illegally then he is a criminal–flat out, bottom line. On the other hand, we would love to have Diego if and when he can follow our laws. Good luck Diego, and I really hope God blesses you with legal citizenship because, next to knowing God, being an American is the next greatest gift in the world.

      Yes!

What an amazing display of utter stupidity. The collective IQ of the entire crowd must have at least been 80. Danny & Maxine please put down the crack pipe. Seriously.

Yes we can, make room for an honorable person to become an American instead of a sneak who comes here under flase pretenses and expects the same rights as we have. If you want to become an American citizen do it legally then you can live as gay a life as you wish. I have no problems with gays…just keep your hands to yourself. You are the one who has to answer to god and explain to him why you did not follow his word.

Lev 20:13 “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death.”

Endangered species who are left alone, not bothered, not cared about usually go the route of extinction. You are becoming extinct, you have no hope unless you are capable of changing the path your on.
