Spike Lee Reportedly Tweeted WRONG Address for George Zimmerman

Spike Lee incited quite a controversy last week when he re-tweeted George Zimmerman’s home address to his 200,000 followers. With a $10,000 bounty on his head, George Zimmerman — who shot and killed 17-year old Trayvon Martin last month — was certainly in danger if a mob got its hands on him.

Indeed, the leader of the New Black Panthers’ statement, “God d***it, he should be fearful for his life,” and subsequent Twitter comments along the lines of, “Lets go smash this n***a…EVERYBODY REPOST THIS George W. Zimmerman 159 Edgewater Circle Sanford, Florida 32773 (407)435-2400,” confirmed that any visits would not be a simple social call.

So it’s a little embarrassing that Washington Times reporter Kerry Picket decided to take a drive near Zimmerman’s supposed residence and found that, “The Edgewater Circle address Mr. Lee re-tweeted out is not part of the gated Retreat at Twin Lakes where the shooting took place, and where Mr. Zimmerman lives. The area is not even a gated community.”

In fact, Picket met the man who lives across the street and found that a woman named Elaine actually lives at the address, and has been put in danger by the overwhelming publicity.

He concluded:  “While it was not wise to incite the masses to go to an address he thought was Mr. Zimmerman’s to begin with, Mr. Lee should should still ‘do the right thing’ and give the actual resident at the address above some peace and apologize for disrupting her life.”

The website The Smoking Gun tracked down the real owners of the house. And their name isn’t even Zimmerman:

The residence on Edgewater Circle is actually the home of David McClain, 72, and his wife Elaine, 70. The McClains, both of whom work for the Seminole County school system, have lived in the 1310-square-foot lakefront home for about a decade, records show.

In an interview tonight, Elaine McClain told TSG that she and her husband were “afraid” due to the online linking of her address to Zimmerman. “We’re keeping everything locked,” she said. McClain added that the couple was particularly unnerved by a letter mailed to them at their home. On the envelope, she said, were printed the words “Taste The Rainbow,” the slogan for Skittles. Martin was carrying a pack of Skittles and a can of ice tea when he was gunned down by Zimmerman.

    I swear, Spike Lee is drunk with what he thinks is his own power, and a careless, and dangerous man. I whole heartedly agree, this woman should sue Spike for as much as her attorney can get for this reckless endangerment. As far as that goes, the FBI should look into his actions at trying to get Zimmerman hurt. Yeah, the FBI since that Interstate Commerce Regulation clause goes into effect with this one.

    Spike Lee should still be brought into court to PROVE he didn’t know it was
    the right address or not…since the LEFT is so stuck on stupid about “intent”,
    let him prove that it was or was not his INTENT.

    Either way…stick his azz with some legal charges, fines, fee’s and hopefully,
    major jail time…and let it be an example for ANYONE who does this.

      And what should happen to The Blaze writer who copied the tweet and posted it yesterday? It was never fact-checked then,but it was posted for all to see And then they post the wrong address again today.

      Has anyone thought that redacting the address might be a good idea?

      Just so people don’t get the wrong idea–the bleeped word is a proper description of a type of unleavened bread, used in some communities to describe people ‘Not-of-color‘ which is not the same as people ’Of-no-color’? I guess???

    Will Spike Lee and the New Black Panthers be held for murder if someone seeks to claim the $10,000 bounty? This could be explosive. How incredibly stupid is Lee and the Black Panthers unless they feel that the DOJ and Mr. Holder will protect them.

      I wondered that too. Pretty scary when your home address is put out there. How can you ever feel safe when even one person “doesn’t get the message” that Mr. Z is not in this home. Hope there is some kind of police patrol for awhile.
      “In Spite Of” and O’reilly show..the same theme..“whites have more money than blacks”. Yesterday on Cavuto a J.D. something was promoting his book about forgiveness etc..Q do you think the rich should pay more taxes A. yes. The words “social justice” and J.D. lost me at that point.
      So then if the rich pay more taxes then everyone will prosper & become rich. Go further..a law that 2 beautiful people cannot marry each other & 2 ugly people cannot marry each other. The law is 1 beautiful & 1 ugly shall marry each other. After many generations there will be either “all” beautiful people or “all” ugly people in the nation…and call it “social justice”.
      And the beat goes on!

It is a tool to incite the base, but having the intelligence to present it in a manner for maximum effect is something most racists just do not understand.
