SPLC Names New Black Panther Malik Zulu Shabazz to Its ‘Radical Right’ Activist List (Along With Frank Gaffney & David Barton!)

The Blaze has told you before about New Black Panther leader Malik Zulu Shabazz (who has recently talked about hating white people) and his radical ideology. Now, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has placed the black separatist leader on its list of “30 New Activists Heading Up the Radical Right.”

Read that again and take it all in.

While it may be startling to some that Shabazz is being considered right-leaning, the shock doesn’t end there: SPLC added some other familiar names to its “radical” list that are sure to cause even more confusion.

Historian David Barton, American Center for Security Policy founder Frank Gaffney and blogger Palema Geller also made the list. While the former is dubbed “anti-gay” on the SPLC web site, the latter two are given the label “anti-Muslim.” Now, it goes without saying that most people would see stark differences between Shabazz and the other names mentioned in this post — specifically when it comes to ideology, rhetoric and action.

Somehow, though, these conservatives have been denigrated to the same level as Shabazz and other radicals like former KKK member David Duke (he’s also on the list). Let’s continue by taking a look at a portion of the profile the SPLC created for Shabazz:

Although he’s sometimes identified in the mainstream media as a mere “legal adviser” or “community organizer,” Malik Shabazz is a racist black nationalist with a long, well-documented history of violently anti-Semitic remarks and accusations about the inherent evil of white people. He is also particularly skilled at orchestrating provocative protests. Ousted from the Nation of Islam after he became an embarrassment even to that hard-line group, Shabazz went on to take up the leadership of the New Black Panther Party.

Now, let’s explore the profiles setup for Barton, Gaffney and Geller. Here’s a portion of the write-up assembled for Barton:

Named by Time in 2005 as one of the nation’s “25 Most Influential Evangelicals,” David Barton is a self-styled “historian” who has acted as a key bridge between the mainstream political right and radical-right religious ideology.

Barton, the founder and leader of WallBuilders, is best known for claiming that America was founded as a Christian nation and wrote a book entitled The Myth of Separation. He says the founding fathers intended only Christians to hold office, citing early documents to back that falsehood. Barton has no training as a historian beyond a bachelor’s in religious education from Oral Roberts University.

Gaffney’s profile delves into his allegedly “paranoid” take on Islam:

For most Americans, the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) evokes thoughts of a dark time in this country’s history. But Frank Gaffney Jr., the anti-Muslim movement’s most paranoid propagandist, is not most Americans. In 2011, he called on Congress to revive HUAC — this time around, to root out the Islamist operatives who, he claims, are well on their way to replacing America’s democracy with a totalitarian, Shariah-based caliphate.

And, finally, here’s Geller’s overview:

Pamela Geller is the anti-Muslim movement’s most visible and flamboyant figurehead. She’s relentlessly shrill and coarse in her broad-brush denunciations of Islam and makes preposterous claims, such as that President Obama is the “love child” of Malcolm X. She makes no pretense of being learned in Islamic studies, leaving the argumentative heavy lifting to her Stop Islamization of America partner Robert Spencer. Geller has mingled comfortably with European racists and fascists, spoken favorably of South African racists, defended Serbian war criminal Radovan Karadzic and denied the existence of Serbian concentration camps. She has taken a strong pro-Israel stance to the point of being sharply critical of Jewish liberals.

      No surprise, but here is what the Blaze failed to include about Barton from the SPLC.

      “Barton’s interests extend beyond his view of Christianity. He advocates government regulation of homosexuality and has claimed that gay people die “decades earlier” than others and have more than 500 sexual partners apiece in their lifetimes. He cited infamous Islamophobe Robert Spencer in attacking U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim congressman. He opposes immigration reform, saying that God established national borders, and has appeared on the radio show of hard-line nativist William Gheen. At one point, Barton even spoke at an event put on by Pete Peters, a pastor of the anti-Semitic and racist Christian Identity theology (he later said he had no idea that Peters’ group was “part of the Nazi movement”).”

      You think that might have something to do with why they call him radical?

      Actually, it has nothing whatsoever to do with supply and demand. You are proving that you haven’t even a high school understanding of basic economic terms.
      It does however display that you buy the moronic idea that as long as you supply something, that demand is static and always there for said idea or product.
      In fact, demand drives supply, not the other way around. If people want to hear and read these things, someone will fill the void and provide the supply.
      An 8th grader knows this…it is in the first chapter of every economics book on the planet. He has more money than God and uses it to subvert the constitution via his puppets. The “hate” label is a tool often used by the left to silence the opposition. In this case however it is being used in order to deflect criticism of the left in general and Obozo in particular when the proverbial crap hits the fan during the riots which will take place in the coming months. Who is Obama‘s chief advisor that has been shown to be via Ed Klein’s research & the facts of her past – Valerie Jarrett?? (Hint – Communist, member of the New Party in Chicago, along with her dad)

    You don’t have to do much research to find these facts – not only of her but the rest of them that are running the “big” depts. like DOJ – Holder, etc. Add that to Obama’s known past and what do you think? Yes – Communists/Marxists are trying to accomplish a revolutionary takeover of America – with int’l help. And what do those type of people do to promote, protect and continue their goals?
    FEAR. It works great. Keeps lots of powerful, threatening people quiet. Blago probably had to submit to going to jail b/c he and/or his family was threatened – knew too many secrets.     I read the profiles of the majority of people they have listed on their site and it is amazing how often they use the words, “jihad” and “cabal” in their description of people they disagree with. It is also amazing to me how among all their so called neo-nazi’s and white racist the would list a black racist, something just doesn’t seem quite right with that. Especially sine Malik was ousted by the muslims. They must really be ashamed of him to try and not claim his as the Liberal Racist that he is, or they just think we are all to stupid to know the “Truth”!
    I know one thing for sure. They don’t expect that any of their followers will actually research any of the statements they have made on their web site! No doubt about that!

      The original founders of the SPLC and the NAACP must surely be spinning in their graves(perhaps the real cause of all the tornadoes recently in the South) to see how the organizations that they set up and for which they fought to gain a voice have devolved (purposedly avoiding the latest Progressive word of evolve meaning to flip flop).       Shabazz is no more a leftist than he is a rightist, but he is a racist, that much is sure. Barton is a historian, though not a very good one. Gaffney is a conservative who has been warning of the dangers of radical Islam for years, even before 9/11. Neither one belongs on SPLC’s hit list. Pam Geller doesn’t either, though as the article points out, she is mostly a loudmouth opportunist who doesn‘t even rise to Spencer’s level of Islamophobia.

    That says all we need to know about the government under the current adminstration.
    I say we name Obama as a radical right enemy as well. If you can call the blacki panties radical right than surely O is radical right as well.

    SPLC has been a joke for a long time. They don’t even have a basic understanding of left vs right. Anyone non-politically correct is considered by SPLC to be radical, right-wing, hate groups. If they actually paid attention to even half of what the “tolerant” left actually did vs what they say, they might finally get a clue and a little bit of credibility.

      If you research Morris Dees (Morris Sleeze) ,you will find he is a leftist ,Sodomite ,pedophile.He has gotten rich for many years doing hit jobs for the anti-American and Democrat front groups. They pay him well to run a disinformation campaign against Conservatives that have an impact.     This type of branding just contributes to the SPLCs loss of relevence. Especially, when you consider that the SPLC is “not equipped” to name the hate mongers on the left.
