‘Square Your Shoulders’: Beck Challenges Israelis to Stand FirmGlenn Beck continues his tour of Israel, profoundly affecting many Israelis along the way.

Earlier Wednesday Beck visited Israel’s “Gush Etzion,” or, Etzion Bloc – an area that was occupied by Jordan between 1949 and 1967. Because the Bloc is situated in what is considered a strategic location between Jerusalem and Hebron, it was heavily contested during Israel’s War of Independence and was the target of a violent massacre in May, 1948 before being ultimately destroyed. Gush Etzion was rebuilt following the Six Day War and is now home to approximately 55,000.

To understand the significance of the area, Gush Etzion is considered by Israelis to be an everlasting memorial to the soldiers who fell defending the Gush from Arab armed forces in the Kfar Etzion Massacre, which occurred on the eve of the declaration of Israel’s independence.

The first Prime Minister of Israel David Ben Gurion reportedly said of Gush Etzion:

“I can think of no battle in the annals of the Israel Defense Forces which was more magnificent, more tragic or more heroic than the struggle for Gush Etzion…If there exists a Jewish Jerusalem, our foremost thanks go to the defenders of Gush Etzion.”

During his visit to the Gush, Beck visited the “loan oak tree,” which, to Israelis, is a tribute to Gush Etzion’s history and the courage of those fallen.

Beck was guided by MK Tzipi Hotovely, local authority head Shaul Goldstein and Yesha Council head Danny Dayan. Israel National News reports that the three hoped to convey another side of the story rarely if ever portrayed in the media — that of Jewish Israelis’ peaceful coexistence with Arab Israelis.

During the outing, Beck paid a visit to local grocery store giant, Rami Levy, who employees many these Arab Israelis. Levy said that while his employees were initially treated as “traitors” by the Palestinians, eventually what “sets the rules” is the “actual situation” on the ground and “the truth.”

Beck, in the meantime, delivered words of comfort and encouragement to one Jewish Israeli shopper when he noted that “too many” Israelis are “doubting themselves.”

In his message to Israelis, Beck added:

“You’re either a good state or a bad state. What are you doing here? Stand up. Square your shoulders. We have a right to exist; we have a right to be here. And we’re good…”

Later on one Israeli woman told Beck how “touched” she was by his “love for Israel and love for Jews.”
Beck went on to explain the significance in visiting the region is to glean a “deeper understanding of Israel.” Beck believes the problems facing Israelis cannot be solved by governments, but by individuals being “neighbors” and being “good to each other.”

      Count my family for the Jews as well! Part of why Americans are Apathetic or even hostile to Jews is they have fallen for the heresy or false teaching of what is called “Replacement Theology” where they are taught that the “Church” has replaced Israel as the special covenant relationship with God.

      This is a lie and even a basic study of the bible will reveal it. That is where the problem is, no one wants to read, let alone, study their bible anymore.

      Us Gentiles are grafted in to the branch via Jesus… God is NOT done with Israel, once the Church is taken in the “rapture” Daniel’s 70th week will begin with Israel.

      Yes, absolutely. If all Israelis see is what our idiot President or the various wacknut anti-Semitic “peace” groups say, they’ll start to think that this country has abandoned them, but that’s simply not the truth. By and large, the American people will stand by Israel in their time of need, and they should never forget that. If Israel were formally attacked in open war by its neighbors again and we sent the US military to defend them, I would volunteer to fight.

      Who were those 400 Jewish leaders? Liberal Jews who would turn on Israel in a second. Real Jews disagree with those leaders’ opinions — probably didn’t waste their time reading their nonsense. Glenn Beck has always supported Israel. It’s a crying shame that the Jews so desperately need Christians to stand with Israel, but they do because they can’t rely on the Jews in the diaspora.

      3. Cleon Skousen wrote about slavery and never once condoned it. The distorted review and lies stated in media matters and other left wing sites just don’t stand up to the truth about the man. Ironically I can understand the distorted lies spread about this man. He was a devoutly religious man with a deep compassion for conservative ideas and was completely against communists. Exactly opposite from the left. FAIL

      6. Glenn discussions of gloom has been proven correct many many times. If you watched the program you would see this. His talk on God comes from his heart. The same as the founders spoke of God and his guidance and strength in forming this country. FAIL

      7. As a Christian we all speak to God to ask for direction and guidance. That’s a Christian belief. It’s quite likely we will see the revelations come to pass in our lifetime. Most American Jews are embarrassed or afraid to openly support Israel. Most diaspora Jews don‘t know enough about Judaism and the history of Israel to even make an argument in Israel’s support. Antisemetism is at its highest since WWII and the world has and is falling for the Palestinian propaganda. Yes, Israel, with its 6 million or so citizens are strong as heck, but their numbers are a drop in the bucket compared to the number of people in the world that want them all dead.

    Many of us are watching,listening,reading,trying to understand all of this.I know one thing.Glenn Beck has opened my eyes and helped prepare me(and Family) for a future that may or may not be the USA I’ve always known.

      I have to agree. The Israelis already have courage, tons of it. I love Glenn, but I don’t think that they need him to reiterate courage to them. Where courage is needed is here in America, specifically the Jews here in America. The Jewish friends I have are not worried about Israel. I think Glenn should focus his message of courage back home and reach the Jews here. Not to mention that he has already become a target over there, according to his tales of his visit so far.

      That is so sad to read…. but I feel, and have felt that way ever since he took his oath to office. Hannity was screaming about rev wright but I think he started too early. By the time the election came along it was old news….. it’s so unfortunate. The media is responsible for the hatred toward George Bush, they pounded and pounded him on everything he did. Eventually the American people saw him the way the media portrayed him…. kinda like what they have done with Gov Palin…. now of course we see the same thing happening to every conservative running.     @Uncle Tom; That’s my take on it as well. But it won’t hurt for us to take a stand and be of good courage and STAND with Israel. We need the world to see that we are NOT afraid to stand for what is right and good and just in a world filled with lies about all peoples and nations. People hating each other for no reason. We MUST STAND for Freedom or freedom will leave us!

    Israelis need to teach their American Jewish counterparts (6 million of them) to stop voting Democrat, and get behind the Jewish state. That’s the only way Israel will survive… “a house divided cannot stand.”
