Stage 3 ‘Live It’: Beck Launches Massive Food Drive in Effort to Fight Nanny State

Glenn Beck Lanches Phase 3: Activate Asks Americans to Fight Food Bans, Regulations and Encroaching Nanny State

UPDATE: Within just one hour of Glenn Beck’s program Wednesday evening, viewers rallied in response, filling 11 tractor trailers with food for the needy. Now, the ante has been upped, to a goal of 25 truckloads of food. Information on how to get involved can be found at GlennBeck.com.

Glenn Beck is dedicating the week to unveiling a four-part plan to reclaim the personal liberties that have been slipping away from American society. On Monday, he asked Americans to “commit” to a high standard of conduct and to a plan of action, and on Tuesday evening, he launched a major voter registration effort that is already realizing substantial results. On Wednesday evening, Beck revealed the third phase of his initiative focused on curbing the power of politicians like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Obama regulatory “czar,” Cass Sunstein, in their push to grow the already overblown Nanny State.  Beck noted that the Federal Register of all government regulations is over 80,000 pages long.

Blaze readers are likely already familiar with the unsettling string of state-led crackdowns on children’s lemonade stands, student as well as city-wide bans on fatty foods, bake-sales, smoking, unpasteurized milk, and now, sugary Big Gulps. Worse still, is that homeless shelters and soup kitchens across nearly a dozen states are now rejecting quality food donations based on their perceived salt or sugar content.

In other words, government is attempting to thwart people from being humanitarians.

How you can stop it

While Beck, GBTV and the broader Mercury organization are the conduit, the inspiration from Beck’s new initiative came from an “incredible woman,” and righteous gentile who saved the lives of 500 people during the Holocaust — and it all started with just one bowl of soup.

Lamenting the fact that people in need are being denied perfectly good won’t solve the problem. With this in mind, Beck rolled out the details of a humanitarian effort that will target 11 cities, including: New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Detroit, and a Navajo reservation in New Mexico.

To this end, Beck’s company will be sending one tractor trailer filled with food to each city.

Beck went on to explain that he chose these particular cities because feeding the homeless has been banned in each — in fact, people attempting to do so have even been arrested in certain instances.

This is the opportunity, according to Beck, to show the Federal Government that its services are “no longer needed.”

If viewers don’t wish to go over the cliff with the rest of humanity, if they are ready to live what they speak, and ready to stop the 80,000 pages of regulation from getting any bigger, the Beck urged viewers to visit his site, GlennBeck.com, and click on the number “3” to help “fill those trucks” and raise funds.

Paulina turned one bowl of soup into saving 500 lives.  The moral, of course, is that what may only seem a drop in the bucket can grow exponentially. Beck then wondered what 11 truckloads of food could be turned into.

While politicians routinely dialogue about ending hunger, this is an opportunity to actually help do so, according to Beck.

Contact your legislator

Another tool provided in phase three — “Activate” — on GlennBeck.com is a the fourth option which allows Americans to contact their politician about the encroaching Nanny State. Beck‘s organization has partnered once again with David Barton’s WallBuilders, which has already begun reaching out to legislators to challenge food bans.

At the end of the day, it is perhaps more important than ever, according to Beck, to “be the change you want to see.”

The reason the Left lost the battle against Scott Walker in Wisconsin on Tuesday night is because they were “out-organized.”

please make sure the expiration date on the canned food is not even close to being due. our small church kitchen had some sort of Govt nanny come thru who threw everything out that was marked even ONE day past the expiration date. there was nothing wrong with the food, just the Govt nanny said NO. it was SO hard not to feed that commie brownshirt to THE HOGS.

while this activity by GB is surely better than nothing, we must understand human nature and charity. The absolute best thing you can do is minister and help people on a person basis – not unloading a tractor truck of food and driving away. That happens in emergencies but it takes away the human element. Without the human element, people become dependent and apathetic.

Seek out local relief shelters in your area. Donate and sign up to help – they are always looking for volunteers. If you are an empty nester – try to figure out a way to use that empty space….

They may not allow you to put the can on the shelves to give away, but I work with a soup kitchen and there’s nothing stopping them from cooking with it. The meal program here that I work with twice a month, allows me to bake my own goods to share at the meal facility (I supply fruit breads). Lots of the food used to make the meals is also donated from grocers and are soon to expire items. Now I know what I’m going to do for my lemonade stand…..ask for food donations for Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay…..the target of the Planned Parenthood hate mongering.

I understand what you are saying but I also understand that this is implemented because of legal liability. Does this make the food bad? I’m living testament that it does not for I have eaten clam chowder soup, canned meat and many other things that had expired.

@CATB: While I agree that places like Detroit are corrupt and desperate, to suggest we shouldn‘t give to these cities is a little like the federal government picking and choosing which states they will provide ’help”, which ethnicities are on the ‘preferred’ list for getting more food stamps and free housing.

This isn’t about picking and choosing; this is about showing desperate, government-dependent Americans that we love them and want to help them on individual levels – without government help.

    It is written:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. – I Corinthians 13:4

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. – I Cor. 13:13

The difference between good and evil is becoming more evident. You can see it in the spectrum of posts on Glenn’s efforts. All it does is clarify the difference between two contrasting movements. One is based in love, goodness, and kindness……..and the other……well you read the posts and decide for yourself.

I was thinking the same thing lately, especially with the “greater polarization” of the nation. It is said that the polarization is bad, but it can also be looked at as a “sifting of the wheat from the chaff”. No longer are the two sides muddied together in a twisted tangle of compromises, but it is becoming more and more clear the difference between the two sides. What is it that Saul Alinsky said, “isolate and alienate?” It seems that shining the light on the differences between both sides is doing just that, and we are able to confidently decide which is for us without a doubt of which to chose. Each side is isolated from the other, which is the first step of forming a purified movement, isolate the undesired traits, and then move forward, continuing to shine the light on undesired traits and disallowing them to infiltrate again. Give people a “real” choice, no longer both “moderate” (read meaningless, and compromised) parties, but actual differences between the parties. Wasn’t one of the tactics of progressivism to make both parties as similar as possible so they could “throw the bums out” and the movement could still move forward? No so much when there are stark difference between the parties, and we are continuing to carefully watch both.

It’s not completely about how much you make. It’s how much items cost and how much you spend.
America is way over priced with tax and banker interest. We are sinking and that exactly what Obummer wants.
People need to ban together and refuse to participate in the failed system anymore. The system is corrupt. Burn candles, ride a bike, raise chickens and hoofed animals, have a garden, dig an outhouse, sell the car, give up insurance, forget about FICA and opt. out for religious reasons, trade services, homeschool, take your money out of bank, give the crapper back to the bank, stand for freedom, carry a weapon under the 2nd amendment, and help someone else struggling.

      Okay, Almighty -

Are you supporting a food program? Are you working on creating at least a 72 hour emergency kit for you and your family so you won’t have to depend on your community to feed you?

Personally, my job assignments take me to my state’s largest city. Their City Hall has food donation barrels and since I’m there fairly regularly, I check the barrels. Most often, people throw garbage in them, like candy wrappers and stuff. I try to put something in those containers each time I go. It may only be a can of tuna or a box of muffin mix, but it’s more than nothing.

Our local post office ran a food drive and asked people to fill a grocery bag with food. This is the second year I did and they didn’t take it, so that food is going up to our largest city.

While there may only be so much room in the lifeboat, I am definitely going to be tossing life rings to those in the water.

I have several cases of MRE’s, six months of food from WiseFoods (at 4 servings a day), well over one year worth of food I just picked up from HoneyVille Farms 3 weeks ago, an 80 pack case of S.O.S. survival bars, 48 cases of 16.9 oz. water, 10 cases of 1 galloon water, three 55 gallon water barrels I recevied last week and filled & purified only yesterday, about 6 months worth of canned goods (veggies, soups, spam, chili, etc.) and other goodies such as first aid, toiletries, clothes, blankets, seeds, weapons, etc.

      And I’m not done yet.

This is not all for me though. I have several co-workers & friends who live paycheck to paycheck, who are simply unable to set much aside. Their only responsibility (when the SHTF) will be to get their families out to my place.

I don’t know how long I would survive in a SHTF/WROL scenario, so my goal is to be a bit of an oasis for those I care about. Did you see “The Road”? I think I’ll end up being that food/supply filled bunker they stumble across as they were about to starve to death.

I was not knocking GB’s warnings or suggesting people not listen to them and prepare…but to keep you help local.

I’m no longer sending money out to kids in Africa and so on. Sooner or later you have to dial it back. From other nations, to other states, to other citys…and finally down to your city, neighborhood, friends.

Take care of your “area” first.

Can you guess the only person who voted “PRESENT” today on a Democrat Amendment that passed in the House 206 to 204?

If you would spend more time watching “CAPITOL HILL” instead of typing “CAPITOL LETTERS” you might actually get a clue and know what’s going on. Just saying….

“The amendment would increase funding for Community Oriented Policing Services by $126 million?”

Wrong Bill and Amendment. Please guess again.

“I can be a little slow… can you please help me understand WHAT PART OF THE CONSTITUTION authorizes the federal government to appropriate funds for LOCAL POLICE? Help me understand how this doesn’t violate POSSE COMITATUS?”

I can also be a bit slow. Local Police are most likely funded by the Feds through the Federal Highway and Gasoline taxes since they (local Police) are in charge of the local highways and roads.

How many times have you heard about States being threatened by the Feds for losing funding for State highways and roads if they don’t comply to some Fed rule? I hear about it almost every year.

The Federal Gov, SCOTUS and the DOJ don’t give a rats ass about the Constitution. We agree on that point.

Did you ever read Obama’s “Jobs Act” from last year? Read page 133 and tell me what you think about it.

“SEC. 376. FEDERAL AND STATE IMMUNITY.
      (a) Abrogation of State Immunity- A State shall not be immune under the 11th Amendment to the Constitution from a suit brought in a Federal court of competent jurisdiction for a violation of this Act.”

      Here’s a link direct from the whit House;

      http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/legislative/reports/american-jobs-act.pdf

Please let me know what you think about this AND why no one, including RP, got in front of a TV camera and spoke up against this. TIA

PS: I read the Bills and watch what the House and the Senate does.

Well I guess I’ll have to be a tad more blunt. I DON’T GIVE A DAMN WHAT LEGISLATION YOU ARE REFERRING TO. That’s how bullet-proof Paul is. WHATEVER bill you are ATTEMPTING to “burn” Paul supporters with, will NO DOUBT ONLY BACKFIRE and reflect Paul’s STELLAR INTEGRITY in supporting Constitutional law.

And allow me to be even MORE BLUNT. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS NO AUTHORITY TO FUND/MANAGE/ASSIST LOCAL POLICE. THIS IS ILLEGAL! This is a VIOLATION of the letter and intent of POSSE COMITATUS.

Anything else? I know the Paularazzi never sleep. Have you found anything in his morning trash? I see your face is covered in his discarded yogurt and coffee filters. Well, of course you don’t. That’s why so many people here despise RP fans. RP fans don’t want to hear the facts, they just want to follow their dream of free and legalized pot and that their candidate is above the law and incapable of making a mistake. When someone like me points out a major flaw in a Bill, calls RP’s office and gets the run-a-round, people like you dismiss logic and go back into your OWS tent, light up another bowl and go back to your dream World.

If you can’t handle facts and refuse to do your own research, well…. You are doomed to a Life of ignorance. Why don’t you read page 133, call your Representative and ask him/her WHY they never mentioned it on the House floor or in the News? It does bypass the 11th Amendment to the Constitution without a 66% majority vote in the Senate. Got it know?

      Hi, Monk,

Sorry to butt in, but I’m pretty sure I recall that RP did not vote for the aformentioned “Jobs” bill.

FYI: R.P. has earned the nickname “Dr. No“ because he votes ”NO” for every spending bill that doesn’t fund an activity specifically outlined as a federal power by the constituion. Bailouts and economic stimulus activity obviously violate that.

      God Bless.

In fact yes I have and do. RPaul is our last chance for freedom in this country. Hell, animal control officers can come on my property and buildings now without warrant for any reason they can make up, or just to harass which is typical. But there are too many with pet agendas and those on both sides of the party lines do NOT really want us to have the freedoms we once had. Hell, many want the nanny government and most women I know enjoy and demanding more nanny state legislation like the animal rights freaks and those who don’t want my grass/lawn getting taller than eight inches. They want total control over us. I have zero rights here and feel like a prisoner in the Gaza strip or China since I have no freedom of speech, cannot file grievances with the local corrupt gov or media that is nothing but lies and dis-information. And serves the special interest groups while silencing us others. The city claims they want jobs to come here yet prevented me from selling my property to a few wanting to locate here… commie zoning laws. Then tell me they don’t want “dirty types jobs here but more clean jobs and high tech or business positions that will suit the local college, and people don’t have to get dirty doing.” I wanted to move out of this communist hell-hole and totally controlled corrupt town. Too late now. And fighting corruption and getting proof is very difficult… I’ve tried. Can’t even trust attorneys here.. go figure. Congress critters the same way

Taxes are also sky high so companies move to China and other countries where their arms welcome them. Socialists spit on business as shown by the occupiers! Freedom is precious. Truth be know those who promote the war on the defenseless and poor are the very ones allowing drugs to keep them predictibly unmotivated to climb back out of this horrific lifestyle and know what is going on or even fend for themselves or their families. These who are using the poor and defenseless in ways that promotes their agendas are the very ones who are setting them up to fall. Where is the drugs coming from and why is this being allowed to exist? Because this is the job creation promoted by the left? Drugs are their hiway to power over the people. The criminals get the guns, the law abiding loses them and then they can arrest the criminals who kill the law abiding if they have no use for them. That is job security and is just too evil to be true, but the fact is, their “slips” are showing every time they jump on a cause that will promote how biased towards one criminal or another is. Get Holder and Obama out. Holder, then Obama, Jarrett, and pasty faced Biden who keeps on foot in his mouth at all times.

We can’t complain at town meetings or board meetings or else we chance being harassed by cops or some kind of inspectors. Our media will not allow free speech or anyone to write letters or leave comments stating facts. Animal rights extremist are passing laws forbidding us long time meat animal raisers to stop that, since they claim animals are more important than us or us veterans. In fact the shelter woman told us to starve and go to hell at one meeting that animals are more important than humans. Now they are spouting off about using animal manure for our gardens since it may contaminate ground water! Or that now animal control and the law are under Homeland Security and my raising meat rabbits could create a possible bio-hazard to the community if a Arab sneaks in my yard and infects my meat with some WMD then me spreading it to the community making me a domestic terrorist for not assimilating or agreeing with the far left commies, the local Zionist, the Freemasons, the far left local eco and animal rights terrorist to the socialist that runs things here. So damn corrupt here and non-nonsensical it is pathetic and nothing to be done about it. But it is okay for them to care for illegals and lefties but not us veterans or serfs.
