Stalling? Harry Reid Opens Lame Duck With 5-Minute Football Story

Harry Reid (D-NV) apparently likes to tell stories. In fact, he took over five minutes on Monday on the Senate floor to tell the story of how his University of Nevada Wolf Pack football team beat the powerhouse Boise State Broncos over the Thanksgiving Holiday. It may have been the worst story in Senate floor history.
For starters, and before we get to the details of the speech, the burning question is why waste over five minutes on such a story? I‘m pretty sure many of Reid’s colleagues in Congress just got bounced for not doing their jobs — giving such a speech to open up the lame duck session just seems off.
But apparently not many minded. Here’s how Jon Bershad over at Mediaite explains it:
Not that there were any complaints on the floor. And why should there be? It was five whole minutes without anything for the Democrats to get yelled at for or the Republicans to obstruct. I’m sure it was very relaxing.
Relaxing may be putting it lightly. Reid could put a dead man to sleep with his monotone recitation and very descriptive explanations such as, “he can run very, very fast and throw a long ways.” It‘s also interesting that Reid tries to boast that he’s watched one other Nevada game this year, as if that makes him the ultimate fan.

At approx. $195K/yr and figuring 1860 working hours (takes into account vacations, but, in reality, is much, much less because of recesses that congress takes…so I’m being very generous, here)…I’m thinking this 5 minute speech cost taxpayers approx. $8.73. This is your taxpayers’ dollars at work. He makes more in 5 minutes than a minimum wage worker makes in 1 hour.

I think this boring story is an analogy of why the democrats lost the last election. The economy was falling apart, people were losing their jobs and the democrats were boasting about ‘jobs’ saved from the non-stimulus stimulus bill and wasting a year and a half on a health care bill few Americans wanted. Harry’s time would have been better spent apologizing to the American people for Nevada re-electing him.

I want to ask you all to start today and keep pushing your friends and family to see the truth. We need to let the 22 Democrat and 11 Republican Senators up for election know that we remember the last 4 years. Look up how they voted. Did they Vote Obama, Reid, Pelosi Progresssive and now are acting like they are more in the middle? Sen. Claire McCaskill comes to mind being the personal richest person in the Senate (J. Freaking Kerry has Momma’s Heinz money) .
McCaskill voted with Obama over 99% of the time. Now sounds like? Jim Talent, the Senator who Michael J. Fox LIED about ‘embryonic stem cell research’ acting like there would be none unless you voted for Clair who had a financial interest in it. Fox has Parkinson’s Disease. He even said He didn’t take His Meds for the commercial so it would make Him look worse.
So Missouri do you trust Senator Clair McCaskill? Not the (D) or the (R) but Her as a person who made money by this law passing and voting with Obama like a rubber stamp?
Don’t be fooled again. Please learn before you vote. She just 1 of 33.
P.S. REID should have been a lame duck but ‘The Union spent over $200,000,000.00 dollars’ to keep Him as the Senate leader.
