‘Stand Up, Stop Apologizing’: Texas Gov. Rick Perry Stirs Rumors of Presidential Run

NEW ORLEANS (AP/The Blaze) — Rep. Ron Paul may have secured victory in the Republican Leadership Conference straw poll this weekend, but it’s Texas Gov. Rick Perry who is capturing headlines following a rousing speech many speculate may be yet another indication of Perry’s plans to enter the already crowded 2012 GOP field.
Taking pointed swipes at the Obama administration Saturday, Perry‘s appearance at the Republican Leadership Conference could offer another tantalizing hint that he’s ready to upend a crowded field of candidates who have worked months to amass name recognition, organization and campaign cash.
“This administration in Washington that’s in power now clearly believes that government is not only the answer to every need, but it’s the most qualified to make the most central decisions for every American in every area,” Perry said. He called Obama’s approach to the economy “an affront to every freedom-loving American and a threat to every private sector job in this country.”
“I stand before you today as a disciplined, conservative Texan, a committed Republican and a proud American, united with you in the desire to restore our nation and revive the American dream,” he said.
Perry — the longest serving governor of his state — is drawing much national interest despite little effort. He insisted for long time that he wouldn’t run. But in recent weeks, he has softened his refusals and his advisers have reportedly started laying the groundwork for a campaign in Iowa.
“We’ve got the wind at our back right now,” Perry told the excited GOP crowd. “Americans are waking up to the realities of their previous choices. We must keep America moving back to preeminence because our values and conservative ideas are the world’s greatest hope.”
The Right Scoop has Perry’s full speech — Could it be a test run for a presidential stump speech? You decide:

Posted on June 18, 2011 at 11:15pmI know Glenn doesn‘t seem to like Ron’s public speaking approach but the big problem is the limited time in the debates to get a very detailed point across that cannot be done in a soundbyte format as these debates are. Ron Paul tells the truth and like it is.. You don’t have to like it but he has the common sense solutions freedom loving Americans have been begging for. I really don’t care about HOW he delivers the message, and how stylish he is. All I care about is results. Ron Paul will deliver constitutional freedoms we haven’t seen in over 100 years.. Capturing Headlines? The reason for capturing headlines is because the people who own the major media outlets AP, Reuters etc. are all funded by New World Order Progressives. They WANT a puppet like Obama so they can continue the agenda. Ron Paul will NOT receive the headlines and the polls will be skewed against him in EVERY way because he is anti establishment and anti status quo.. Perry gets in, expect more Obama style BS and a continuation of the New World Order ramp up.

Posted on June 18, 2011 at 8:29pmThis is why Palin and Bachman are so feared by the left. They have their principles and stand by them. Don’t like it? Then just move on folks. The libs flat out hate this. If you don‘t agree with them even if they can’t justify it they go absolutely nuts.
I sense Perry is of the same ilk and I’m very interested in what he might bring to the ticket as a presidential candidate. I don‘t know enough about him yet except the left can’t stand him including my lib friends in Texas. That’s a very good sign! I like the foaming-at-the-mount bits!
Palin is damaged goods for this race but should be extremely helpful to the cause as well as a strong candidate for a cabinet level post – secretary of the interior? I’d really like to see her as a secretary of labor not that it is going to happen. The lazy union slobs would see the sun start setting on their sorry a**** pretty quick.
I think a Perry/Bachman or the other way around ticket might be pretty scary for the libs to think about. Think Reagan without tact and diplomacy.
Romney just needs to go away. He’ll bend over in an instant to get a vote and compromise what few principles he has. Suave don’t hack it these days. He has already lost the anti-abortion voters this week not to mention Obamacare haters earlier.

Posted on June 18, 2011 at 8:07pmLiving in Texas I know Rick Perry’s dialogue all to well. He talks a big game but when push comes to shove he always cowers down to the Federal Government. He had an opportunity to shut the TSA down in the Texas by making it illegal for pat downs at the airport. Instead he had the Lt. Governor pull the bill down even though it had enough votes to pass all because he didn’t want to vote on it. His reasoning was that the TSA threatened to pull flights from Texas but there is no way the airlines would pull flights from 3 of the largest cities in America.
There is also his connnections to Merck Pharmaceuticals and then his involvement in the land grab for the Trans. Texas Corridor, and finally there is the fact that Texas has several sanctuary cities and he has done nothing about that. He talks tough about illegal immigration but has never come up with his own plan on how to solve the problem, he has always passed the buck by saying its the Federal Governments job to protect the borders.
So before you are sold on Mr. Perry, there are some serious questions this man needs to answer for. Don’t settle for him just because he gives great speeches, we already have one of those. We need a leader that will defend every part of the Constitution not just bits and pieces of it.

And yes under Perry there is a landgrab. Reality: Perry is another Dubya(in fact they are good, good friends) RINO talks patriotism, talks down-home bUT what he ends up doing ALL points to destroying Americans sovereignty. Perry would be the nail in the coffin of the US because HE WILL sell us out to the UN. Perry really in the long run is one of the worst thing that happened to TX. Yes the TSA bill was passing through the legislature and THEN the federal government – threatened to have a NO FLY ZONE for Texas. Perry didn’t pull the TSA bill, at least a dozen STATE SENATORS did!!! Now Perry has called a special session and only the governor can call up legislation in that session. First of all it is a fact that Perry had his Lt. Governor pull the bill. He even admitted it to the press, because he did not want the TSA to follow through on their threats of a no fly zone. So that point is not made up, secondly he was investigated with his involvement in Merck, furthermore he admitted to grabbing land for the Trans Tex. Corridor and then stopped because the people of Texas were outraged. Furthermore Perry has never come up with a solution to the illegal immigration issue, he continues to dodge the issue by saying its not the states job, its the federal governments job. So where have I misled anyone. I think Perry has done some good things for Texas, however he has done some questionable things as well. All I said is make him answer all of the above questions before you back this man. Is he better then Obama absolutely, however what we need now is a true leader who will stand behind and follow the Constitution.

And it is important that you get your facts straight – that is how people get misled and too many people are saying stuff that they heard from someone else who heard it from someone else. So it is suspect everything else you say, is it because you are a Ron Paul plant or you just don’t like Perry or whatever it may be. The fact is the lawmakers stop the bill.
Texas lawmakers shelve bill to ban TSA pat-downs
By Keith Laing – 05/25/11 06:07 PM ET
Texas state lawmakers have shelved a bill to outlaw controversial airport pat-downs.
It is why Perry said in special session he would bring it back up IF there were enough lawmakers who would stand behind it and get it passed.
All you Perry haters out there, at least do some research instead of saying what you heard from somewhere else, it doesn‘t help your arguement when you can’t be trusted. The other things you bring up, can be debated but at least get the first thing right first.

What kind of society would we have if we legalized the theft of one’s property to support the life-style of another? Isn’t that what MediCaid and ObamaCare are doing to our individual right to our property and by extension to our liberty and our lives? Think about it, before it’s too late and we become like Europeans — firmly succored on the government entitlement teet instead of being firmly rooted to our fundmental rights of men — life, liberty, and property.

The field is so wide open I just dont see anyone stepping up to the line that can take BHO out. Remember its not BHO that has to be out voted so to speak its the zombie voters who find no fault in him that are the problem. The recipients of entitlements, the hardcore liberal progressives who will mobilize and find voters to keep him in power. Think out of the box in dealing with BHO dont think oh Perry, Bachmann, Romney etc etc can/could beat BHO in general election. Yes ANYONE can beat BHO he has clearly demonstrated he is way out of his league. Remember guys BHO isnt the one to be beat its those election him, heck electing all the socialist progressives into power are the problem!

Posted on June 18, 2011 at 7:39pmDo we need another one of these asinine “No Apology” tactics? Come on, wouldn’t everyone like for Mitt Romney to apologize for his health care and move on? Of course.
What is it with some conservatives who can’t show humility, admit mistakes – whether on a personal level or mistakes our Country has made. Especially any Christians out there. Are we not supposed to have humility and own up to our errors? We make a huge mistake attacking Obama for having the courage to acknowledge our Countries imperfections and be willing to apologize. We make a huge mistake (ala Romney) for refusing to apologize.
I see this running through the conservative party – the need to always be right 100% of the time. It’s going to bring us down even further as a party.

Posted on June 18, 2011 at 7:56pmI have done research lately on the Bilderberg Group which is a secret society which desires a ONE WORLD ORDER and an OPEN SOCIETY. I found RICK PERRY’S name among those that are connected to this group. To be truthful, studying this secret society gave me a literal migraine headache. It is that troubling. I believe that Rick Perry bursting on the scene as a possible candidate for the Presidency among the Republican candidates is probably being promoted by this Bilderberg Group. I studied this group because someone days ago mentioned them on this website while writing on theblaze, and I was curious about them, because I had heard a little bit about them from somewhere else, but could not recall anything about them. Rick Perry’s coming on the scene as a Presidencial candidate would most certainly assure this Bilderberg Group that they would have another One World Order person on board to further their agenda.
Report Post »Now I know that people have poo pooed this group on this website several times before, but in studying this group as I did, I did not find anything about them that would indicate that we should dismiss them. On the contrary. We better take this group seriously, and for those of us that do a serious amount of studying for ourselves, I would suggest that you study this group and report back your findings here. This possible candidate smacks Bilderberg to me.

What a package Governor (2X) Rick Perry provides!
I am very excited with this Texas miracle worker who has been describe by some as the “real George W. Bush” because he is not a wussie on ideas like States rights/succession and right to carry handguns in Texas college campuses and classrooms. He is quite masculine, tougher on socialists than Governor Scott Walker and does not give a hoot who has a problem with his ideas.
Because Texas government only meets minimally, he can devote full time to campaigning without affecting his state. He has no sex scandals, male or female to hide, and has only just learned what Twitter does, so we do not have to cover up any mistweets.
Too bad, Sarah and Michelle, but he is the “100% Male Palin” has ALL your social and political areas covered (he can claim to have accomplished everything you have except your womanly ability to give birth). And he is Not Mormon, but Real Christian.

My only concern is the connection to the Bilderberg Group. You may take what you want from what I said, or leave it, that is up to you. I’m concerned that he was invited to this secret group. That should send up at least one red flag. As to the Bilderberg Group itself. I found it very troubling. Recall that the One World Order was also promoted by President George H. W. Bush. That to me was troubling as well. Truth has no agenda. It is important to study these things from all angles. You can find a wealth of information about the Bilderberg Group on the internet. It is there for all to see.

you are a big part of the problem. going around saying Romney is not a real Christian. What’s not Christian and mormons? Do we need someone that agrees with 100% of our policies? Can‘t we admit that we don’t know everything. This is the problem for conservatives. The religious right wing of the party is convinced they are right 100% of the time. As a Christian and conservative the first thing I know is that of course everything I believe is not 100% right or always the truth. We have to admit any belief we have, including our religious beliefs, could be wrong. Then vote for the person who can best lead our country, not for the one that is most like us.

He used to be Al Gore’s campaign manager, hello!, he is as phony of a conservative as there ever has been and because the Globalists realize that Mitt Romney is a man of great integrity contrary to the pack of media lies being told about him, they are needing a candidate who will do their bidding if Obama is defeated and in Rick Perry they couldn’t have found a more faithful servant. Dr. Robert A. Pastor’s 2005 report to the Council on Foreign Relations includes the Trans-Texas Corridor as part of a grand network envisioned for a proposed “North American Community.” According to the CFR plan, Canada, the USA, and Mexico will be joined together with a common perimeter and “harmonized” trade and security laws that will allow easier penetration of Chinese produce and manufactures to Eastern North America. Instead of going through Washington State, Long Beach, CA, or the Panama Canal, goods will be deposited at deep-sea loading stations off the southwest coast of Mexico (the port of Lazaro Cardenas), and then shipped on a non-stop route through Mexico, Texas and up to Kansas.
