Vid: Mumbai Balcony Collapse Leaves 1 Dead, 6 Injured

Video cameras caught this startling scene in Mumbai Sunday, when a balcony collapsed from a house where people were watching the Ganesha immersion procession:
The Times of India reports that the accident happened in Bharatmata area where devotees were trying to get a glimpse of the elephant god of the famous Lalbaugcha Raja mandal.
The 11-day religious festival has had heavy security this year as one of the celebratory days fell on the 9/11 anniversary, and also given the recent attacks on Mumbai and Delhi.
The overcrowded balcony collapse resulted in one death and six people injured.

Posted on September 12, 2011 at 2:30pmIndia’s corruption is notorious to the extent that a massive movement in recent months led by Anna Hazare wanted the government to set up an institute to monitor her ever growing corruption which keeps millions poor, compromises on good infrastructure (leading to such accidents). The government (conveniently) obeyed and created the Lokpa, to which I placed the question “who will oversee the corruption in this institute as time goes by?”. Now any politician can bribe the Lokpa members to “rubber stamp” their credibility and honesty, paving the path for these politicians to power.
