Posted on May 18, 2011 at 12:04pmSee, it isn’t a bad “intention.” I believe that laws like these need to be worked on but to fine someone because they are overweight is basically saying, “Yes, let’s let the government control every aspect about us.” I don’t believe its fair that people on welfare can receive as much as they do, and can buy all the stuff they buy, but change laws on that because welfare is something the government can control, not weight.
Report Post »Cowboy
Posted on May 19, 2011 at 12:30pmThe federal government has already limited freedoms related to health care. Governor Brewer’s recommendation is actually a reasonable response to federal intervention and being constantly dragged into court by the feds. Your objection should be to the federal intervention.

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 12:39pmReally? Fat people are the cause of our economy being in the toilet? What about the diabetics who are skinny but eat sweets. They MUST be part of the problem. But since they aren’t fat, how do you know to not sell them sweets? People with high cholesterol who aren’t fat but eat bacon and cheeseburgers. Skinny people with a calcium deficiency who don’t drink milk. Bulimics who eat everything they want and then get rid of it… Well, we can’t do anything about any of them, but since FAT people are overwhelming society, and let’s face it, are just grotesque to have to look at – LET’S TAX THEM!

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 1:02pmIt is not about eating too much fatty foods, it’s about a lack of exercise. Therefore the logical thing to do is have a mandatory government exercise program. Those of us who were in the military remember morning PT formations 5 days a week. If you can’t keep up, then mandatory remedial PT. When your weight becomes everyone’s business, what is next. There are hereditary diseases so it is only logical that before you can procreate with someone else you should be subject to genetic mapping of both partners. After all, if the medical costs of your offspring is going to affect the health costs of everyone then it is only fair that everyone should have a say in whether or not you have children. If your I.Q. is not very high then you should not be able to have children since stupid people costs society money. People with blond or red hair, and light colored skin have a tendency to get skin cancer more then others. No children for them. There are certain diseases mainly associated with particular racial groups. No more children for them. Tax all of these losers and don’t allow them to reproduce. We can say this because they just might cost society more then what the contribute. Of course if some fat pig actually pays more into the system then what they cost do they get any of it back? Ben Franklin? We are well into hammering the smokers, now we start on the big fat pigs, so who is next? When did we as a society decide to start putting a price on individual liberti

Set a time when everyone is going to have to provide their own health care, therefore will have to take care of themselves.
All people were much better off when we had to WORK for a living not get handouts. There will always be a few who can‘t help themselves and we’ve always taken care of them, but this reminds me of the guy who just won 2 M in a lottery, paid 1 M in taxes and STILL gets FOOD STAMPS.

Posted on May 19, 2011 at 9:55amNope. You have a choice to make… that’s all. Either own your own health or don’t, but don’t expect others to pay for your choices. You are engaging in a logic argument that cannot be substantiated.
Report Post »How is enabling a behavior or lifestyle more humane? How is making the taxpayer pay for recipients’ choices more fair?
This is like the expectations put on folks who have to pay for insurance directly; your choices have consequences. Your scenario is a foolish, knee jerk defense for folks being allowed to have their cake and eat it, too. At what point should the fatties, junkies and smokers on the govt. dole be made to own their behaviors? Never? It seems you’re asserting that Twinkies, crank and Marlboros are inalienable rights. Okay… but if you wanna use and abuse, I shouldn’t have the proverbial gun pointed at MY HEAD with govt. and other enablers telling me, “You must pay for this and you may not question the matter!” You see, if I refuse to pay taxes and support these systems, agents of the govt. will actually come to arrest me and take the stuff I actuallly paid for… at gunpoint if the state deems it necessary. Tell me how that scenario is “more fair” than simply making folks responsible for their own health.
Eat what you want, live as you wish. Own your damn choices and stop playing the victim when made to engage in a bit of accountability.

Only a relatively rare percentage of people are obese by genetic predisposition. The rest of them are eating their way into obesity by choice. They choose to eat themselves fat, and expect us to pay for the excessive food that makes them that way, and to pay for the additional medical attention it will engender, then they can darned well accept a monetary penalty.
Report Post »I have a better solution than a tax, however. How about we get rid of welfare entirely and allow ourselves, as a free and independent people, to care for oursleves and our neighbors as we see fit, without the interference and coercion from the State?

3.) When we ask for the end of the public paid for Welfare State we should know that this is what it looks like.

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 4:58pmFIrst and foremost, the demoncrats are against it so that speaks a lot of good for this. We should not have to pay for these people to eat like pigs. If they are getting that much money from welfare to eat like that then they are absolutely getting too much welfare. I would say that instead of a fine, that they start reducing the amount of welfare that these people get until they have just enough money to eat enough to stay healthy. This idea is based on the premise that the state won’t just get rid of the welfare rolls altogether which would be the best thing to do. Also, if they do get money from the state like that, then let them work for in for the state. I’m sure that there are a lot of things that they could do to earn the welfare money they are getting, and working like that would help them get healthier.

How about before getting welfare your big happy butt has to “weigh in” to see if you qualify…Only those who are in poor weight/health get food given to them, not a check…
My grandpa told me bout the soup lines in the 30′s…Wasn‘t no fat obese people there and there wasn’t money changing hands either, just food for those needing it…They didn’t care what it was…
When you give a lazy person money you can’t expect the lazy person to be thrifty with it…A needy person will take anything offered, food…A lazy fat person just has their hand out, for a check…
Socialistic America has to realize she is cutting her own throat and making nothing but worthless people with their hand out…Let’s tax fat people to pay for grandmas Medicare…It’s hilarious the crap we come up with…So shameful all the way around.

Posted on May 19, 2011 at 12:37amWhen I go to Walmart and watch the wellfare bumb in front of me with 3 carts of food pull out one of those food stamp cards, I want to scream. They are always have better clothes, drive newer cars than I have and get their groceries for free. My measly half a cart of food cost me $175 dollars. I work 60 hour a week to run my own business and pay thousands of dollars in taxes at the end of the year so they can live FAT of the hog. I say if you are able to work, but produce nothing to this society, you should be removed from society or forcefully put to work for the state (like the prison peeps cleaning the roads).
My idea to get control of this is to take a big chunk of land in the middle of the country, in Oklahoma maybe. Put 50 foot walls up and build a city that will be run by private companies. When you have to take ANY public assistance, you are forced to move to this city. You have to work 8 hours, go to school 4 hours, and have manditory excercise. The city would be 100 percent self sufficient where they farm their own crops and meats, make their own clothes, fix and repair all of the facilities – all JOBS that can be fullfilled by them. They get a 8 x 10 cement walled room with NO TV, NO Internet, maybe a radio. Their labor will produce additional products to sell as a profit and they will get paid $1.00 per hour for their work. This money will be saved in an account that they can take when they leave. If you leave, you can never come back. Tuff luck.

Uhm maybe somewhere besides Oklahoma….Most of us not living in the city here in OK take care of our own…besides we already have cows grazing the land!Â
How about instead of “taxing” those taking government money, food is given to them to eat…Ever heard of beggars can’t be choosers? Each month instead of getting $800 of food stamps you get a crate of food…Thats it…You don’t like it or eat it all in one day, your loss…Foodstamps can be sold for cash and many do it…
“Taxing” money given out by Government would be really inefficient and does not fix the problem…

Posted on May 19, 2011 at 1:04pmwhat i am more concerned with is all the people who worry about how muslims feel, and christians feel, and mexicans feel, but yet they find it perfectly fine to constantly chastise an overweight person. tgeh fact is that most children who get bullied are bullied for being fat. these bullies learn their ways from their parents. i think that no one should get a monetary hand out like welfare from tax payers. the foodstamp program would be useful if it helped people like single working parents who just need a little help feeding their families because they don’t earn enough to pay bills and buy food. i am sick to death of people belittleing others who don’t fit their supermodle standard. i am also sick to death of people who use diabeties and heart disease as an excuse to fire upon overweight people. these 2 things have been proven to be genetically based for the most part. diabeties runs in my family. my grandmother was the picture of health but diabeties killed her. my aount died of heart disease but she took extremly good care of herself. she ate right and exercised. there are several other first hand experiences i have had with these 2 medical issues and i can say with my personal knowledge that no one is safe from these medical problems. i think its very stange that when my grandma was diagnosed that we were told and studies showed back then that it was genetic, but now its cuz you are fat. its kinda like the milk thing. 1 min. its good for you next min. it causes cancer

Then the ‘skinny tax’ will also go into affect.
After that, there will be more suits that unfairly target poor people and a tax would be levied on a class of rich people to equal out the percentage of people being taxed. (Afterall, we should not tax different classes of people unfairly, now should we? ;;tongue-in-cheek;;)
Then finally, EVERYONE GETS TAXED, and all the Progressives live happily everafter!

Posted on May 19, 2011 at 7:04pmI think it is a great idea. It is not a tax, it is only charged to those individuals who are on welfare and overweight. These people are getting government healthcare paid for by us (the taxpayers). Therefore, if they choose to be on socialized healthcare, we should require some attempt from them to stay healthy.
If you purchase life insurance and are overweight, you will pay a higher premium. Why do health insurance providers not charge different rates for people who make healthier choices and higher premiums for those who make unhealthy choices. If you do not smoke, do not abuse alcohol, do not do drugs, exercise regularly, eat healthy and stay at a healthy weight shouldn’t you pay less for health insurance and life insurance?
I have a hard time believing that any conservative would be against this!
