Mass. State-Funded Sex Ed. Website: Hey Girls, Getting an Abortion is ‘Much Easier’ Than it Sounds

Did you know that abortion is “much easier than it sounds?” And, like, totally, like, everyone’s doing it. Even underage girls.
That’s the crux of a message on the state-funded Massachusetts sex ed. website Mariatalks.com, which tries to remove the stigma, and risks, around abortions and even has instructions for girls under 18. In fact, the “much easier” comment comes from a Q&A section under the header, “Can I get an abortion in Massachusetts if I’m under 18?”
The response: “Again, I know it sounds crazy, but just keep reading . . . this really can be done and young women do this all the time here in Massachusetts.”
That section of the site goes on to refer the underage girls to a Planned Parenthood hotline where they will “provide you with a free lawyer who will help you go to court and talk to a judge. These hearings are scheduled quickly, are kept completely confidential and so far, no minor who’s gone through this process has ever been denied access to an abortion by a judge.” [Emphasis added]
The judge option is available to girls who do not want to get their parents’ permission.
Yes, you read that right.
Foxnews.com explains how the site is state-sponsored:
The website has been produced since 2008 by the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts with $100,000 in annual grants from the state Department of Public Health. Those funds also cover a sex-crisis hotline and other outreach efforts, according to the Boston Herald.
Despite the shocking language, the group behind website and the state department of health are defending the site as necessary and factual.
In a statement to the Boston Herlad, AIDS Action Committee chief Rebecca Haag said, “We feel strongly that the issues that are addressed through the Maria Talks Web site are essential in safeguarding the general, sexual health of youth by informing them of their risk for unintended pregnancies, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.”
“The website strives to provide accurate, complete, and non-judgmental information about all aspects of sexual health, including sex, abstinence, birth control, pregnancy, pregnancy options, sexually transmitted infections, sexual violence, and information for gay, lesbian, and questioning youth,” the Massachusetts Department of Health said in a statement. “The website is intended to be accessible to teens through the site’s narrator, 18-year old Maria, who provides accurate information in a youth-friendly way.”
But some feel it’s more than “accessible.” Instead, it’s an instruction manual for vulnerable girls.
“Any minor girl who reads this website, whether she’s pregnant or not, basically gets a road map on how to get an abortion without telling her parents,” Linda Thayer, vice president of educational affairs for the Massachusetts Citizens for Life, told FoxNews.com. “They’re really setting these girls up if they follow through with an abortion.”
She trumpeted a similar message to the Herald:
“This is a misuse of state funds, especially for parents who are taxpayers,” said Thayer, who also blasted the Web site for “deception by omission” for describing abortion simply as “when the contents of the womb (uterus) are removed.”

Posted on April 21, 2011 at 8:46amhEY Blaze – you should have included this section from the site. Note that abortion takes into consideration everyone’s feelings and futures – except that of the life growing inside ……wow – now there’s selfish AND stupid on a state-funded site.

“What’s important is how you feel about it. One of my friends who had an abortion told me that it was a difficult decision to make, but she felt that it was the best choice she could make for herself, her boyfriend, her family, and her future.”

Posted on April 21, 2011 at 10:07amAll these years I thought I had children. Now I realize from the site they were merely “contents” of my wife’s uterus. That darn wife of mine fooled me. She said, “Come here and feel this, the BABY is kicking.” All the time she SHOULD of said, “Come here, my UTERINE CONTENTS are kicking”.
Say, do Democrat women throw each other UTERINE CONTENTS showers when they are pregnant?

Posted on April 21, 2011 at 8:46amMaria is brainless and soulless, which pretty much sizes up the entire left.
I had a woman tell me once that a woman (or a girl) will always carry that unborn baby in her body, always, and most especially if it is aborted. What a travesty if we permit this to take place in any State of our Union. Please call your congressmen and women this very day and demand that it be taken off any agendas.
Abortion is NOT a medical issue, it is a spiritual matter. But, you all know that already.
On another topic~~~
I am going to look through my files to see if I can find an article I read many, many years ago on “The New World Order” before the public knew about the nwo. There was a photo of world leaders together at that time. I remember bill clinton and I think putin, too. I cannot remember the others, but at the time I read that article, I knew that was a photo of evil.
CHRISTIANS, pray on! Stand! Read and study your BIBLES. Time is growing shorter and shorter. It feels to me that the world is running out of oxygen, at least for us. Perhaps that is GOD’s way of putting us on “high alert” that our atmosphere is about to change!

Posted on April 21, 2011 at 7:40pmMRLOGAN, no its not.
The site is better than many other government on the issue, but it still glosses over way too much information to be realistic, helpful resource.
On Abortion:
The site describes them as safe and effective with some temporary discomfort. It does mention that there are risks, but never makes any attempt to explain any the risks, simply brushing them aside. The site describes them as easy to get and popular, goes on to give multiple phone numbers for where to go and get one. The site also intentionally blurs the line between natural and elective abortions. The site then has the brass to claim that “truthful information because some people may try to get you to think the same way they do.”
The Adoption page is small in comparison with no further information provided in it.
On Abstinence:
The section on abstinence, is again, small in comparison to other sections and is also buried at the end of the other sections. This sections first defines abstinence as abstaining from all sexual contact, but in the next paragraph reduces it to just ******* sex. The section then calls abstinence “not a realistic option for everyone” and then explains that it will make you “unprepared when [you] do decide to have sex.”
No other option is downplayed as much as abstinence on the site. In fact, the very page the abstinence section is located on, describes the Pullout-method as “better than nothing.” The pullout method should never be taught as an acceptable method of birth-control particularly on a site directed at young women, in which the “method” gives no control to.
On STI (STD):
The site’s section on preventing/reducing your risk for STI’s is a joke. It list of seven items includes condoms, not having sex, but also testing and having sex with fewer people. The site never properly explains how STI are transferred, it always leaves out the presence of the infection in another person and the exponential exposure risks. Testing and having fewer partners therefore do not prevent or reduce the chance of infection, however false reliance on those methods will in fact increase risks.. The site also oddly suggests plastic wrap as a proper barrier for oral sex.
This site has a few other statements that I’ve notice that are scary to see being taught.. mainly the teaching of sterilization to teens and the use of an IUD for emergency contraceptions.

Posted on April 21, 2011 at 8:35amThere should be a legal challenge to the site.
A woman under the age of 18 – is not a woman. A woman under the age of 18 is a child/a juvenile.
While the wording and apparently the law think that womanhood starts when you sign a contract to get married there is also the conflicting thought of rape if you are younger. Rape or statutory rape, pick one. Yes, some places allow the marriage of younger people. However, this site is TELLING the underage people who can’t vote yet that they are WOMEN. Sorry, they aren’t women, they’re just hormone filled teens or breeders.
Then there’s the matter of the one parent signing. Oh, really! And if the female has two parents in the picture, why is one given the okay to sign for the abortion and the other one can go fly a kite? Conflicting thoughts – the underage have the right to rule their bodies – but they still need an adult’s permission. There are two potential grandparents involved – why does only one have to agree? And of course, there’s the sperm donor. Why doesn’t he get a say? Hey, let’s all have a party and have a vote – majority wins!
Heck, who has the right to terminate an innocent life? It’s not like the life inside is being given a choice. This isn’t the 60s anymore. We have technology that makes it very clear pregnant women are not carrying a grain of sand. It’s life. If you give the woman the right to determine her body, why aren’t we giving the life a chance to make that same decision. Pretty darned selfish if you ask me. We’re “against” the death penalty for fear an innocent person would be put to death. Definitely innocent lives/persons get put do death by the hundreds of thousands each year and it’s somehow not a problem.
There are people willing and eager to adopt these unwanted lives.
And as to right over one’s own body – if you don’t want a baby – don’t have sex or use birth control that works. If you aren’t grown up about that choice, you aren’t a woman no matter how old you are.
300,000 abortions a year are NOT all rapes and incest.

In this most Catholic of states, where is the voice of the Cardinal? But then again, this is the state where the Church allowed Sen. Kennedy to be buried with full rites.
