Stephen Colbert Answers the Tough Questions on ABC This Week with George Stephanopoulos

Colbert on ABC with George Stephanopoulos

(The Blaze/AP) Comedian Stephen Colbert says that just because his name won‘t appear on Saturday’s ballot in South Carolina‘s Republican primary doesn’t mean he couldn’t become president, or even pope, someday.

In an oftentimes awkward, meandering interview on Sunday, Colbert told ABC’s “This Week” that he established a presidential exploratory committee last week that consists of “someone who is good with explosives,” a mountain climber and a brain in a jar. He likened himself to a “one-man Lewis and Clark” expedition looking for his Sacagawea.

Colbert said if his quest for presidency doesn’t work out, he would be willing to throw his weight behind one of the other candidates. He said: “All they have to do is come kiss my ring like they did Donald Trump’s.”

While the candidate may still be in the exploratory stage, a super PAC supporting Colbert has already released an ad entitled “Mitt the Ripper” taking on possible opponents if Colbert decides to enter the primary.

Never to play an idiot was so serious. The bases of democracy are at stake, can‘t you understand that it doesn’t matter if you are a liberal or a conservative if the majority can be manipulate by advertisement.

What kind of an idiot do you have to be to listen to a (literally) Clown for advice on the political landscape? It’s time for Pat Paulson to run for president again.

NBC owes the country an apology for even airing this interview.

HELLO People!!! NBC is telling you that the entire process of picking an opponent for Obama is a joke; that no opponent that conservatives choose is worth serious consideration.

You have just been spat upon by NBC. Mmmm taste good, doesn’t it?

Colbert is the quickest mind in TV. Brilliant wit and sense of irony. Amazing timing. Well read. knows his history, science, art, music, and religion. A devout Catholic who can recite scripture more completely than anyone here. And a delightfully frustrating thorn in the side of conservatives everywhere.

Stephen Colbert is just a comedian and an actor. Before he got his current high-profile gig, he played in a goofy, mean-spirited sitcom called “Strangers With Candy.” I think it was on either Comedy Central or Logo, I forgot which one. But now that he’s got top-of-the-line writers, he‘s using sarcasm in a way that some people don’t even recognize as sarcasm. Some idiots actually think his schtick is for real.

Conservative or liberal who cares, he is pointing on the fact that democracy becomes a comedy when the court decided that corporations are people and money equals free speech, and you should all be concerned while democracy is taken away from you and bought as a grocery product.

Limiting money spent on speech does limit speech, and corporations are organizations protected, just like unions, think tanks, and any other free association, by the First Amendment’s association clause. Those First Amendment protections don’t just apply to the poor.

Democracy for all, rich, middle class and poor alike: one head, one vote, but the democratic process is rotten by money when corporations are allowed to advertise much more for the candidates of their choice, and sale it like a grocery product. The Constitution is for people who can love and die, not for Unions, not for Corporations, for their members who are accountable in front of the law.

This is cute, Stephen Colbert is a pretend candidate just as George Stephanopoulos is a pretend TV journalist. I wish George all the best luck in the future, once people wise up and realize he is nothing more than a mouth-piece that speaks to the ignorant or those without the will to find truthfulness in the media. This proves how sad our society has become. Just watched the “Founding Brothers” DVD and the crap that we are considering worthy of reporting and having an impact on the future of our society is shameful. What makes this worse is the fact that a large number of twenty somethings are considering this worthy for political evaluation.
Can I just say “The Roman Empire”, and “Ancient Greece”. When reality and fantasy combine, we are in dire straits!

I see nothing wrong with Cobert expressing his 1st amendment rights, even though I totally disagree with his beliefs. As long as he files the proper papers, etc., he has the right to run for president, as you do.
What I worry about is the lack of knowledge of the average person and the history of a progressive media and progressive education in this nation for the last 40 years, and the sense of entitlement that exudes everywhere.

True but there is a responsibility that comes with this right. It does not give you the right to trash and screw up a great system. Don’t misunderstand me that I want any kind of censorship .. just that people should be aware of their responsibilities. Corbert doesn’t.
