Stephen Colbert Mocks ‘Days of Rage’ Protesters

The Days of Rage protest to “occupy Wall Street” has been starting to garner more headlines as of late. But those headlines may not be what the protesters had in mind. Not only has Gawker mocked the gathering, but now even Stephen Colbert has started panning the protests.

During a segment on his show last night, Colbert tried to make sense of it all. But really couldn’t.

“Because if there’s one thing New Yorkers never ignore,” Colbert quipped, “it’s people sleeping in a park.”

He went on to mock the group’s “one demand” of Barack Obama, since a blog post associated with the group didn’t really know what its one demand was.

Still, as with all Colbert and Jon Stewart clips, Colbert was able to take some digs at conservatives, and he did by delving into corporate greed during a segment where he interviewed some protesters. But those interviews also included a man who wears a fur hat and does puppet shows on the subway. Seriously.

You can watch the segment below (which does include a few curse words):

Here’s the main difference between the TEA Party members and the Day of Rage nuts: TEA Party people HAVE JOBS! It is quite obvious that, since this “Day of Rage” started on Saturday and it is now Thursday, these people HAVE NO JOB and probably NEVER DID HAVE A JOB (except for lazing in their mommy’s basement in front of their computer monitor.)

Did not have a hard time finding an article disproving your Tea Partiers have JOBS argument:

      http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/28/us/politics/28teaparty.html

      and another:

      http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2011/08/19/of-the-tea-party-by-the-tea-party-for-the-tea-party/

just one more for good measure:

      http://www.blackamericaweb.com/?q=articles/news/baw_commentary_news/17515

Now I am sure that you have many other capital letters to throw out in order to get your point across to these numbskulls protesting what they see to be an unfair system, but to claim that one group of angry people is somehow categorically better than another group of angry people is preposterous. They are both out there to speak their mind and thus should be applauded for exercising their rights instead of demonized because of their inability or lack of desire to find work. As a matter of fact, if these kids truly believe what they are saying, none of them should be working. That is the only true way that they will be able to achieve their anarchist master plan.

Also, hanging out in the park beats getting blisters from a fryer any day.

Sorry if that sounded a bit incoherent, but I just finished a 12 hour workday of manual labor.

And Colbert has 16 writers, but that’s not important.

I wonder how many people they had to interview to get a 2:1 example of seemingly reasonable to nutjob. The edit makes you think that only 1/3 of the demonstrators are nuts. Hmm?

Uh, he’s dumb. His audience is dumb. And the people he “interviewed” were dumb. Who cares about any of it? And seriously, how did he select the interviewees…? Why didn’t they interview the “Listen don’t look (sic)” girl whose chest was blurred out? She wanted to be listened to… and it probably woulda made for a more interesting segment.

This is rage? It reminds me of when I lived in DC during the Vietnam war and the hippies hung out in the park in Georgetown. A bunch of drop outs and losers looking for a way to be relevant and failing. They would bathe in the fountains, pan handle, and generally just be a nuisance. I like puppet boy though, crazy people can be very entertaining just watch one flew over the cuckoo’s nest. I guess nurse Ratchet is out of work since they closed all the looney bins.

The furry hat guy nailed it, liberals have no hope for the future that is why it doesn’t matter what they do to destroy things now. It‘s also why they don’t know what they will do if they ever do get control, there is no need to know what to do if everything will suck. Ironic how this lib philosophy fulfills itself isn’t it. The question is how do they get the rich Holliwood and related wealthy people to view life this way, I would think that a pampered Holliwood elitest would like the future.

Isn’t it great to live in a country where we can openly mock the leaders of the country, Congress and the protesters for any cause? I only wish we understood that these protesters are serious and they have only just begun to do their dirty work! Let them gather some steam and work together long enough to learn how to seriously affect our culture, and THEN watch the BIG GOVERNMENT response; taking away ALL of our rights to protest and have free speech. Won’t that be nice?

Both Colbert and Steward have missed the main point across the board completely — the days of rage have only just begun, and this one for Wall Street was just a test, a demonstration to see what is still needed to let people know they are there and for the nation to start getting accustomed to their presence until all hades is unleashed.

Ok, I can buy that… a test to see what is still needed… so… for starters they need 4 P’s…

      a Point…
      a Purpose…
      a Plan…
      and some more People…

The one guy with the sign about capitalism working for his parents, so they can give him money so he can stand there and be upset…

The Day of Rage is for people who have nothing better to do. They listen to people that have only one agenda and that is to destroy AMERICA. They can’t stand it and now we have them in the White House. Obama should have been dropped before he was ever elected when his wife said that she was proud of AMERICA for the first time. If you aren’t proud of AMERICA no one is forcing you to stay here. You are free to leave and soon.

The ‘Day of Rage’ has in common what every liberal demonstration has in common.

Nobody really has any idea why they are there or what they hope to accomplish.

They are simply summoned to gather their stinky selves together and drag their drug-riddled azzes to a location and start making poetic grunts that must rhyme with “1-2-3-4“ or ”5-6-7-8″.

They are everything the media claims to make of the T.E.A. Party Patriots.

Yuck it up Stephen, riots start small and build, ask Mubarak. We have these communists in New York and then suddenly we have people all over the world protesting the guy in GA that was executed last night after everyone from the S.C. on down looked at the case and saw no problem with proceeding. There are a lot of fires being stoked and if they converge, we have a real problem on our hands…especially considering the D.O.J. and the executive branch are sympathetic to all these liberal causes.
