Stephen Lerner Doubles Down on ‘Economic Terrorism’ Plan in New Op-Ed

In an op-ed dated for today that appears in the progressive publication In These Times, Stephen Lerner doubles down on his plan to bring down the U.S. economy.

Stephen Lerner Doubles Down on ‘Economic Terrorism’ Plan in New Op Ed

Lerner writes that “This can be our moment.” In the op-ed, Lerner outlines his campaign to “stoke simmering discontent into concrete, concerted direct action to challenge corporate extremism.“ This is a campaign that would sow ”the seeds of a movement that turns the tables on them [Wall Street].”

Elsewhere, as The Blaze has reported, Lerner said that the aim of such a campaign would be to “bring down the stock market…bring down their [Wall Street] bonuses…interfere with their ability to, to be rich.” He also said, “There are actually extraordinary things we could do right now to start to destabilize the folks that are in power and start to rebuild a movement.”

What are those things that could be done right now to “destabilize the folks that are in power” and “bring down the stock market”? He outlined them in his op-ed today:

The fragility of an unstable boom-and-bust economy and growing economic inequality create unique opportunities to stoke simmering discontent into concrete, concerted direct action to challenge corporate extremism….

But in order to make this vision reality, we need to go on offense and make Wall Street pay for the trillions it stole from us…..We can use our political and economic power to renegotiate our relationship with Wall Street to keep millions of people in their homes, and raise revenue for cities and states to protect jobs and critical services:

The Potential Power of Government—Don’t Do Business with Bandit Banks: Wall Street does trillions in business with all levels of government. Let’s leverage that money by getting governments to refuse to do business with banks that don’t pay their fair share in taxes, won’t renegotiate high-cost deals that are bankrupting taxpayers with astronomical interest rates, and refuse to stop foreclosures by reducing mortgage principals.

The Potential Power of Homeowners and Students—Don’t Pay Unfair Debt: Growing numbers of homeowners and students cannot afford to pay back their loans. If they organized a loan strike — refusing to pay their mortgages and student loans unless banks agreed to negotiate lower rates — it would threaten CEO bonuses and bottom lines of the banks. When corporations are in trouble they renegotiate their debt all the time so they can get on their feet again. Homeowners, students and local government need that same deal.

As The Blaze reported here, Lerner said that “If we organized homeowners in mass to do a mortgage strike….it would literally cause a new financial crisis for the banks.” So that’s what Lerner wants: another crisis on the order of 2008. If people follow through on Lerner’s loan strike, “Chaos” could ensue, experts say.

By the way, as we previously surmised, Stephen Lerner appears to be with the SEIU still–a fact which again seems confirmed by his short biography at the end of today’s op-ed:

Stephen Lerner serves on the Service Employees International Union’s International Executive Board and is the architect of the Justice for Janitors campaign. Lerner is a frequent contributor on national television and radio programs and has published numerous articles charting a path for a 21st-century labor movement.

Bringing down a building is an act of violence, bringing down a company is not. The banks are under attack because they have exhibited contempt for the feelings of the public that paid to bail them out, and through their own behavior have earned the anger of the people. Any action against them by the public conducted without resorting to illegal means is part of the free market, just like a boycott. For the government to intervene to protect the banks from the results of their own actions would be an anti-free market regulation of the industry.

Underpants Gnomes Underpants Gnomes we must be the Underpants Gnomes
      Step 1 – Steal underpants
      Step 2 – ???
      Step 3 – World domination

Somehow these leftists/commies/econ terrorists and their ilk don’t get it. Never in history have any of these revolutions succeeded. Never in history has the outcome of their plans turned out really well for the little guy the leftists/commies profess to be in support of. Somehow the plans fall into step 2 of the Underpants Gnome plan for world domination. The ensuing chaos, starvation, deprivation, depravity and misery resulting from their initial actions never allow the plan to get to step 3 world domination.

Sadly the useful idiots will wake up too late or be destroyed first by those initiating the plan. Although Lerner’s plan is crazy to a thinking person with some level of education and research, I fear too many do not look beyond today and the consequences of their actions. These people will fall for the trap, not pay their legal obligations even though they are able. The system will tank and they will go swirling down the bowl with the very institutions they sought to destroy. Then the useful idiots will begin to turn on their leaders like Lerner. That is the moment it gets truly ugly. The most vocal supporters of this evil are the first to be eliminated because they are the most upset when the plan doesn’t turn out how they expected it to.

The whole plan is about as nonsensical as the Underpants Gnome episode of South Park.

PS – Why did the American Revolution succeed? Maybe freedom really is the natural condition of man. Maybe oppression and hatred and violence never solve anything. Maybe the government that governs least really does govern best. Maybe …….

Isnt this about the same thing we were saying about the Wisconsin protesters. Renegotiating contracts that were bankrupting taxpayers! Its only about greed. They get to pick and choose when the rules apply to them. Lerner has been exposed and will suffer the same defeat as most dems in 2012.

All I have to say to all my true American patriots, is BE PREPARED! If you don’t know where to begin. I would suggest a book that I am reading. ‘The Ultimate Suburban Survivalist Guide’ by Sean Brodrick. He covers what could happen and how to prepare yourself and your family.

This will put all of us still working out of a job and with no food to eat and possibly no shelter or water to drink. Anyone who has read up on the Bolshivick revolution or Stalin should quickly see the similarities of this idea. These people no nothing about what it takes to run a society and to provide services or utilities to the masses, they only think about power and change. They will bring more death and destruction despair, hunger and violence to us all that is if any one of us survives their carnage. They are afraid to do anything for fear of riots. LOOK!!!!!!!!! We are already having riots, the unions are out of control, and our TOTUS (T=thug) is encouraging our youth to get up and protest just like they are doing in the middle east. Lucky for us, the youth in this country have been educated in our public schools, by unqualified teachers, so they do not understand what he is saying. It is coming to a head. If a total crash comes, gold would be as worthless as cash, inmy oppinion. No jobs, no grocery stores stocked with food, no gas, etc…. Unless you have food stored, no mater how much gold you have, you may still not have anything to eat. Example: Crash has happened. Banks closed, grocery stores empty. No delivery trucks delivering anything due to no fuel and thieves. You are looking and trying to buy food for your family anywhere and everywhere. You finaly find someone who was prepared and has extra. You want to buy something. The seller sets the price, you want to pay 1 small coin for a given amount, the seller says half of what you have. you say, thats to much. He says, I can‘t eat gold and if you don’t like my prices, go somewhere else.

Stock up on food and Items that can be traded. Ammo, mason jars and lids, food, etc…

Gold will only be worth something sometime down the road, as things balance out. Which could be years.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Gold is barter. Gold can be reduced to it’s worth in silver and then copper. The only thing that can make gold worthless (out in the open) is making it illegal and punishable by law (likely and it has been done before). Ergo the island will make you king for the duration of the crisis. All wealth will move offshore where the progressives want it..

That’s still not the right way to spell Gandhi.

Oh, and the thing about gold is that if, contrary to what you’ve been told to fear, there’s not some huge crisis, then you can only sell it to other gold dealers, who will buy it at a lower rate than they sold it to you. So it will take you like twenty years to make a substantial profit that you can actually realize by cashing in – a profit which, if there is no huge crisis, will be less than you could have made from sane people type investments.

This is a guy who has spent a lot of time thinking about this and yet the obvious outcome alludes him – if he were to succeed with his plan he would only destroy wealth, not redistribute it. Most of the “wealth” on Wall Street is not real (goes for the banks too). There are not trillions of actual dollars just laying around. Most of that value is on paper only – undermining it will only drive the value down

I have to point out again that we as a country have gone from saving then buying to buying into debt. If we all saved up first and then bought then we would see a number of things change. Prices of items especially of the big items are based upon what the market will bear. We by allow ourselves to go into debt alow the prices to raise. If we stopped taking out loans to buy items (any items) and we saved for those items the prices would come down. Because those who are tring to sell us those items want us to buy them. Banks would certainly opperate differently, but we all live in a debt frame of mind. I work at a small supermarket. I have an account there. I have worked there for close to a year. now it is so easy to charge my food on the account. It helped a lot when I was struggling to get settled. However, I make the owner take out everything I have charged during a pay period out of my check. I refuse to go into debt. I watch and make sure that I have worked the hours to cover my charges. This way if something should happen it is covered. It is hard to live without debt, and you have to be content with not having a lot of stuff others have. I don‘t own a TV because I can’t afford one nor could I afford the cable to watch it. I just buy what food goes on sale, very little else. If my car needs repair I wait until I can afford it. If it needs it now, and I don’t have the money then I will pay it off each and every paycheck and plan to have it paid off the soonest it can be. I hate debt. I am even willing to not go to the doctor and place my trust in God for my health. If I had health insurance I could not afford the co-pays so why have the health insurance. I don‘t mind being denied health treatment because I can’t afford it. God says don’t go into debt because those who do become the slave of those who loan to you. The truth will set you free, Pay off your debts, don’t go into debt, and save up for those big ticket items or settle for something less. This will make us free, and not slaves to the banks, goverment, and others. We have a legal financial slavery going on in our country. People sell themselves into slavery everyday for things they don’t really need, but just want. It is a shame, and I wish the young could realize this. We are not teaching them well.

      @STEPHEN LERNER

These are the exact reasons that we need to shrink the government. The government is too cozy with Wall Street.

Hey Stephen, maybe you should consider joining the Tea Party, they want smaller government and aren’t happy with bailing out Wall Street corporations that are “too big to fail”.

Panic at SEIU! First there was the “Just trying to give the struggling consumer some good business advice” response to being outed.–kind of an independant capitalist feel to that one. Now its back to “stoking” (ouch!) the suffering victims into non-action (strikes–whew…at least we don’t have to DO anything). Pawns for the banks, pawns for SEIU.

It will take the people rising up and overthrowing these enemies of freedom. Lock and load America, because the war to save the Republic is coming.

The scariest part of all this is, these people are going to do exactly what they say they are going to do unlike our elected officials. JP Morgan Chase bought my home loan from WaMu and offered me a loan modification ( HAMP ) After completing all paperwork and making all payments on time, I was refused the modification. They have done this to me 4 times! I have not missed a payment during the last 2 years yet Chase says I owe $15,000.00 in fees and fines. I hope they bring the entire industry to its knees. I love my country, but my God I hate the Banking system and all that help to prop this system up!

the man is a traitor and guilty of treason wich by deffinition is •a crime that undermines the offender’s government •disloyalty by virtue of subversive behavior •treachery: an act of deliberate betrayal. and also, Oran’s Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as “…[a]…citizen’s actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation].” In many nations, it is also often considered treason to attempt or conspire to overthrow the government, even if no foreign country is aided or involved by such an endeavour. however, treason was specifically defined in the United States Constitution, the only crime so defined. Article III Section 3 delineates treason as follows:Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted. the United States Code at 18 U.S.C. § 2381 states “whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.” What this means is that congress, not the DOJ has authority to declare this man a traitor and set his punishment which as stated above details death at the maximum or 5 years in prisin and 10,000 dollar fine. That is 10,000 dollars in 1796 money so alot more today abjusted for inflation. I strongly encourage every one to write to their senators and representatives to have this man brought up on chagres of treason, or sedition, not terrorism, and have him “hung by the neck until dead” or just living with Bubba for the rest of his natural life.

Sources for this post come from Wikipidea Deffinition fo treason.

I hope he has a plan for the day after he brings down Wall Street because the global financial markets will crumble, the dollar will drop like a stone and government bonds will dumped at bargain basement prices on the international markets. AND let him not forget that most of the pension plans including those sweet public service ones are heavily invested on Wall Street and they will be hammered.

There’s a funny thing about successful revolutions. For a few days its party time and then the cold reality sets in that the revolutionaries haven’t got a bloody clue how to run things and everyone winds up being worse off than before.

Isn‘t it better to get involved in the established political system and participate in the ever evolving honing and regulatory processes that’s already built into the system?

Leaves torn between anger at their intent, and shaking my head in sad disbelief. First they encourage people not to work, just accept the handouts. Now they encourage people to take out a loan and then not repay it simply because they think it’s somehow unfair. These people are truly insane to keep following this failed idea. Collectivism doesn‘t work because humans aren’t designed to work that way. We aren’t hive creatures, get over it.
American capitalism has done more good for the entire world than any other system in the history of mankind. The facts are there to see for yourself, as long as you look beyond the progressive textbooks and listen to more than the far-left teachers infesting our schools today. There have been mistakes made by this nation. I acknowledge them freely and try to learn from them and move forward. There are also great achievements in our history. But those great achievements are becomming a rare thing today under Leftist rule.
Listen to me, those people who want to follow this guy: You buy a house, you sign the contract, it is a binding legal agreement to pay back the money they are lending you. It has NOTHING to do with the market value of your home at any time after the purchase. It is only an agreement to borrow money and to pay it back. Period. What part are you failing to understand?

In response to this, “I cannot figure out why we are not armed in the streets right now tracking down scum like this”, If it is deemed necessary to do so before the presence of the “Great Equalizer” is know to all men, it will be done.

If you are to be included in such a call to arms against the evil and wicked of this world, you will most likely feel compelled now, in the present, to make preparations for such an event to occur.

If you choose to be among those that “hear” the drums of war, be advised that you will not be spared from the laws of this land. There is a price to pay for sin, and that price is death.

He who lives by the sword will die by the sword. The only consultation is that you give your life, in this world, so that others may experience truth while living.

Be brave, stay strong, and, most importantly, keep steady your faith. God will deliver on his promise, in the final hour.

Time is a man made event.
