Steve Jobs? Just Six Weeks To Live?

It was just one month ago that we reported (along with most of the media) that Apple CEO Steve Jobs was taking his third medical leave in a seven year period.
As Mr. Jobs and other leaders in America’s high tech businesses are meeting with the President today in California, there is a report circling the globe that Apple’s iconic CEO is very ill and may have as little as six weeks to live.
A February 8th National Enquirer story that included the grave speculation from doctors analyzing photos of a very skinny Jobs leaving the same cancer clinic where Patrick Swayze was treated in his battle against pancreatic cancer. The tabloid reports Dr. Gabe Mirkin’s analysis;
“He is terminal. What you are seeing is extreme muscle wasting from calorie depravation, most likely caused by cancer.”
Dr Samuel Jacobson who works in critical care is reported to have seen the photos and said that Steve Jobs looked to be “close to terminal” adding “I would say he has six weeks.”
Much of what is reported in supermarket tabloids like the Enquirer rarely gains traction outside the gossip world, but we are seeing this story popping up in other media outlets like The Times of India and Toronto Sun.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 3:37pm@Lantern: It is one thing that is inevitable, I do pray that he finds peace in the fact that he will be moving on into another fact of his life. You see people really don’t “Die” they just can’t have contact with those of us on this side of the Dimensional side of existence. Even Buddhism believes in an after life and if the Bible as translated is true to its words then there is a place that he is going to where he will be waiting for what is called “Judgement Day”. I do not judge the man since I don‘t know the man’s private life and beliefs, he will have to stand up for himself on that day as will myself.

>>Woz was the real brains behind the Apple II computer anyway.
Yes, he was the engineering geniuses but Jobs was the business innovator. Back then with limited resources and a hair brain idea Jobs needed Woz. He would not had made it because he lacked the technical skills to make the darn thing worked. To put it another way, Jobs dreams and Woz implements. Woz was a master of making magic with Flip-Flops, and gates and power transistors but he lacked the long term vision. People like Jobs and Gates are visionaries that can rise above the details and see the big picture or beyond where others can see.
Back then they were tailor made for each other but later when the company got traction it could hire many engineers with lots of skills. Even if Woz was better technically, it did not matter because the company could hire 100 of them to get the job done faster and better–or so the story goes. I know this because I made the same mistake in my carrier thinking the technical ability made me something special and later came to realize that this was not true. Back in my day, schools were turning out young engineers at a fantastic rate and as a results, were a dime a dozen but a visionary like Bill Gate or Steve Jobs are truly rare.
Woz, was in everyway that mater a Michael Angelo of the electronic tinkering but in today’s what he did then can be done in a blink of an eye by a computer. Woz was not even a good manager or business person. Don’t get me wrong I love the guy but this is just the facts.

First of all, this hardly constitutes being the worst scum on earth. I’ve seen comments that have been far more insensitive.

Life will go on, as will business, even after the passing of Jobs, whenever it may be. Though insensitive, seeing how this may all be speculation, it also makes one wonder what will happen to Apple after Jobs is gone.

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 11:02amThe question is, if most of Apple’s hardware is built OUTSIDE THE USA, then why is Apple SO EXPENSIVE (twice what a Microsoft PC is)? I do not wish this man any ill will and I really hope he gets his life in order to meet his maker, but it seems to me we are praising someone who refused to have its hardware product built right here in America. Actually, I do like Apple better because its O/S is clean and secure unlike Microsoft’s, which is so full of holes, it could be sold as swiss cheese. But, why is it so darn expensive to own if it’s built elsewhere? Mmmmmmm…….
