Stewart‘s Wild Recap of GOP Debate and Rick Perry’s Gaffe: ‘Romney Wins!…It’s Over!”

When Rick Perry blanked for 53 seconds during Wednesday’s GOP debate, you knew that it was a moment that will live on for infamy. But before it gets there, it had to get through the day after. And everyone from Glenn Beck to David Letterman had some fun with it. And that includes Jon Stewart, who recapped the debate and the gaffe in epic fashion.

There’s not much you can say to describe it, other than that Stewart went person-by-person and described why they have blown their chances (Huntsman isn’t Romney and Cain used the term “Princess Nancy” amidst sexual assault allegations). He saved the best for last: a multi-minute takedown of Rick Perry that went something like this:

Are you not entertained? There is so much meat on that bone and it is all breast meat. It is all white. I don’t even know which to pick! There’s the part where Ron Paul’s trying to help him out, he’s going “I think you mean five!” Other people are shouting out, “I think you mean EPA!” But you know they wanted to shout shit out like “CORN DOGS!” just to see if Perry would repeat it, Ron Burgundy-style.

Then there’s the part where, just for a second, Perry looks like he’s going to fake a stroke to get out of the whole thing.

And here it is:

The GOP leadership, Fox news, the mainstream media and the Blaze has already anointed Romney as the GOP candidate. It’s no surprise that they would do that, I’m sure if Obama was a college or pro football team, if he could pick his own opponent, he would pick one that has lost to an opponent that he has already stomped in the ground, such as McCain did to Romney on the 2008 primary, just saying! I’m sure many people are counting on Cain, Gingrich, Perry, Paul supporters will fall in line and vote for Romney because they sure are not voting for Obama. What they haven’t taken into consideration is Obama may defer to Hillary, now I wouldn’t vote for Hillary, but there is many useful idiots out there that would vote for Hillary over Romney! I don’t want Romney, Hillary or Obama. Romney would be the best of the three evils but let’s not do the lessor of evils this time!

I will never vote for Romney. I would rather have a liberal for four years then a chance to vote for a conservative, then wait for eight if Romney wins.

But the good news is. I saw a poll today with Cain in the lead, and dropping Romney tied with rising Gingrich at 15%

It’s true, Cain is on top nationally today on CBS. He and Romney are the only two possible picks right now. They are the best on the economy, which is the number one issue.

No matter what the media spins, Cain and Romney are very moral and experienced men. And right now they are both solidly on top.

Jon Stewart also went after Cain directly with ‘Oh, the Hermanity!’ : http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/nov/stewart_attacks_cain.html

      – ROMNEY’S 2012 PLAN CUTS MEDICARE–Ron Paul’s plan cuts $1 trillion the first year & balances the budget in 3 years. The plan cuts spending by ending the costly foreign wars, and cuts foreign welfare, corporate welfare, and overgrown federal bureaucracy. These cuts are made so that those who are dependent on domestic spending programs such as Medicare aren’t endangered through a sudden change in benefits. Romney’s plan cuts Medicare, on which many elderly Americans rely.

And this is how falsehoods become mainstream truth. Cain has not passed (or past as you say) a lie detector test. It was a voice stress detection software program, AND it was taken from his press release off the television. Do you think that the television transmission might have influenced the results? And as it only measures stress in the voice, do you not think it fair that a woman standing up to a potential future POTUS would not be “stressed”. And do you not think that Herman Cain, who speaks in front of crowds everyday would not be nervous and therefore show no stress in his voice.
Give me a lie detector test that measures blood pressure, pulse rate and breathing over a voice stress analysis. Especially when one of the parties makes his living speaking in public. As an example, when I speak in public I am often told how calm I sound and yet I am a nervous wreck internally each time, sometimes it manifests itself in a shaking leg or hand but my voice sounds calm.

Stewart is right. He usually is. I think you should get used to the idea of a third-party/independent candidate. There’s simply too much money and fame available for the right wing marketers of patriotism to ignore. Personally, I hope it’s Palin who does it. It would be poetic justice for Queen Me to be the one who puts the stake through the heart of the Tea Party once and for all. But anyone will do – Cain or Bachmann have both shown they all have the ego big enough to put self before country, as we’ve. Or maybe it’s Ron Paul – who is the only Republican candidate with any true principles. Doesn’t matter, as long as somebody steps up to corral the tea sheep into one amorphous blob of feigned and impotent liberty.

Agreed. That he could not name the three federal departments he supposedly would abolish means he hasn’t given the subject as much thought as his initial confidence suggested. It was difficult to watch him self-destruct the way he did the other night, but I never understood why everybody seemed to find him so charismatic to begin with. His demeanor always seemed arrogant to me and (for lack of a better word) as stereotypically “Texan” as the Bush the Younger was. His policies on illegal immigration and the public school system are questionable at best, and the man is embarrassingly inarticulate if not painfully ignorant of the issues. Having lots of money and “being Rick Perry” isn’t enough for him to skate by on. In any general election debate King Barry would steal his lunch and pop the bag. I understand now why he skipped out on the first primary debate, but God only knows how he has never lost an election.

If he can’t even recall the names of the three agencies, then he likely can’t recall his reasons for wanting to whack them, either. And that suggests that Perry’s motivation for wanting to shut down the agencies is more a tactical one, more so he can go back to his constituents and arbitrarily say “See, I made the federal government smaller,” and very little to do with any deeply held beliefs about why those agencies might be doing more harm than good, or even a basic understanding of what those agencies even do…

Janedough, Romney is so much of an improvement over Obama I cannot even believe you would say that. Grow up.

      @JL320
Sounds like your ready for the new world order. If it comes about it will simplify things, all you’ll need to know is which line is for cheese and which is for bread.

Someone with some spare time should find all the clips Jon Stewart and the rest of these media puss ies making the same mistakes as Perry did that night…for what ever reason, I think all these jacka$$es in the media were bullied as kids and this is the way they get back at their peers.

I got a wild idea, stop watching them online and on tv and guess what…they’re fired!

Believe it or not, Jon Stewart has made fun of the left also. The guy is funny, but partisan.

Why does this man get so much air time and space on the internet? Boorish behavior and rudeness do not pass for comedy.

Absolutely. Now make that point to Beck, he’s made a career out of it.

He gets so much airtime because he has a large audience, he sways opinion of the youth, and he’s funny. The Blaze is right to show him so that we can see what the left is doing and how to oppose it.
