‘Stop the Hate! Taste the Rainbow!’: Santorum Glitter Bombed in Iowa

Surging in the polls, GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum was greeted with a fistful of glitter in Johnston, Iowa Friday, the latest so-called “glitter bombing” of a Republican candidate.

The male protester partly missed, with purple glitter ending up both on Santorum and the ground as the former Pennsylvania senator went in to watch a football game with supporters.

“Stop the hate! Taste the rainbow!” the unidentified man shouted as he threw the glitter.

Santorum appeared unfazed by the incident, shrugging it off as he made his way through the cameras and supporters.

Glitter bombing has become fairly commonplace throughout the campaign, usually as a form of protest by gay rights activists: As The Blaze previously reported, Newt GingrichMichele Bachmann and former candidate Tim Pawlenty and  have all been targeted.

Santorum has been outspoken about his opposition to same-sex marriage.

Christian values in the government. What’s wrong with the Constitution? Isn’t it based on Christian values? The difference is, the Constitution doesn’t allow ONE religion to dictate government policy in America.

What is the difference between Christian morality guiding government and Sharia Law?

It‘s fine until YOUR religion isn’t the one in charge!
That’s why America should govern my the CONSTITUTION.

It’s like some type of wacky Skittles promotion. “Taste the rainbow!”? No, but thanks for offering. Keep your fruit flavors for those who have the same appetite as you, Tinkerbell.

This is a good example as to why many queer activists should be ignored. They are childish in their actions and demands. It’s the stomping, bratty child that holds its breath and has been conditioned to never take “no” for an answer. There is no point in engaging this level of immaturity and no need to rewrite law, history and tradition to give a privilege to ~ 3% of the general population that is driven by its nether regions.

Rick Santorum’s endorsement of Arlen Specter, a strong supporter of abortion, who gave President Barack Obama the key Senate vote to pass Obamacare, is becoming a key issue as the Iowa Caucus nears.

Polls show that Santorum is seeing a last-minute surge in Iowa, but pro-lifers and pro-Christian groups are seeing red.

According to press reports, critics of Santorum have been handing out flyers and putting them on cars outside of Santorum events claiming that the former Pennsylvania Senator is a “Pro-Life Fraud.“ The organization publishing the flyers identifies itself as ”Iowans for Life.”

A devout Catholic, Santorum has been a consistent advocate for pro-life issues, but in key political moves that could have benefited his own career, Santorum backed pro-abortion candidates.

The pro-life flyer notes that Santorum has “a long and storied history of campaigning for radical pro-abortion candidates,” mentioning Santorum’s strong endorsement for former New Jersey governor Christine Todd Whitman and former fellow Pennsylvania senator Arlen Specter.

The Santorum conundrum is more of an amusement than anything else. I mean, the guy has

Backed Mitt Romney as the “conservative” candidate in 2008
has virtually zero presence anywhere except in Iowa
is in fact not even present on the ballot in more than one state (not just Virginia like the Grinch)

So I find it amusing that all of this is put aside and he is taken seriously all of a sudden three days before voting date and is allegedly “surging”.

The extra 6 or 7% refers to people like Anne Heche, who try a gay life style for 2 or 3 years but grind that it doesn’t really work for them. Anne Heche was only with Ellen for 4 years or less. That she even tried / experimented with h0m0sexuality may be due to the alleged abuse from her father, who was gay & died of AIDS.

If the allegations are true than her gay father really messed her up.

Personally i don’t know how people take this stuff. I Don‘t know what that moron is tossing at me or if it’s a knife in his hand. I’d have dropped his butt with a punch. What if that stuff gets in his eyes.. it‘s plastic and metal flakes for gods sake and this moron wasn’t aiming. This was an attack that could have serious pain involved and this man should be prosecuted. They have his picture and chances somebody knows who he is. What happens when some idiot starts pepper spraying people in protest.. heck, it‘s not deadly and it gets the point across and it’s not like they care if you live or die. A bit of pain is nothing compared to their suffering at the hands of someone calling them a name,, right? These tactics need to be taken seriously and dealt with very harshly or things will escalate until blood is required to quench their rage. I’d have put him down and detained him for arrest for assault and charged him with assault. I’d also charge him with a hate crime because he clearly did this because he hates the mans way of life.. Isn’t that the definition of why gays hate straights? They say we don‘t accept their decisions so it’s ok to attack us. But I certainly don’t go out gay bashing. One of my closest friends is gay and i’d stand between anybody that would harm the guy. I’m just tired of all the ( I hate you because you hate me) one way justification. It’s just sick and uncivilized.

“You republicans (yes we know it’s really all about that) I can kill you if i feel i need to (Guns are serious sweety, they are not for embarrassing people) and you better just shut up and take it because you will just make it worse.” Well it’s the best translation i can get from your comment. A man gets attacked with tiny metal flakes that narrowly miss his eyes and he is expected to smile it off and keep his mouth shut. All you have to do to prove me wrong is go purchase some glitter and dump it in your eyes or with a surprised gasp inhale a good hand full. Then you can come tell me it was just safe fun at the rally. I‘m sure he’d be happy to agree with bleeding eyes that you just wanted his attention. You know, glitter is as good as any baseball bat at hammering a opinion home isn’t it? When you have the definitive guide to how far you can go to attack a different opinion and what they can do to defend themselves, please, come talk to me but if you have glitter i assure you i’ll have that bat.

If Santorum is secure about how he stands on gay issues, he should be able to discuss with gays. If the gay guy only wanted to act like a child and refused to engage in conversation, he would have come across even more so the petulant baby he seems to be!

Of course for a few decades now we’ve all been told that any kind of personal conflict is bad, being self-assertive in the face of open hostility = bad, standing up for what you believe in = bad, engaging by discussing rather than pretending nothing happened = bad.

Republicans need to stop this crusade against gay people. I personally became/registered a Republican in 2007 because I believe in the cornerstones of the party platform; strong military, limited government, fiscal restraint, individual freedom. Without the wedge issues of abortion and gay marriage, Democrats have squat! These 2 issues will forever hinder the Republican party. I would love to see a candidate come out and say, I don’t agree with abortion personally, but I have never been confronted with having to make the choice and I cannot change the law. And as far as gay marriage, I don’t think the government has any business impeding in the personal lives of consenting adults. LET FREEDOM RING! So you’re saying, jk47thezealot — that all America has to do is condone immorality and freedom will ring.

      Not True! and Not Happening!

The rampant immorality is decaying the roots of The United States Of America because — It’s Slapping Almighty God, Who Has So Greatly Blessed America, In The Face.

If you are lacking in the knowledge of the foundation that our Founding Parents built The United States Of America on — Read The Bible!

If you are a gay person or someone who has been involved in abortion — Read The Bible! You will find that you don’t have to wallow in your bad choices for the rest of your life and all eternity. Get to know Jesus and Who He Is and what Who Jesus Is means to each and every one of us. Keep in mind that our eternal decisions need to be made this side of eternity. When our eyes have closed on this life, there will be no do-overs.

All of this to say: If I were you I‘d do the research now and make sure I’ve got it right. I‘d hate to get on the other side and find out how wrong I was and know it’s too late to make the right choices.

And, One More Thing: Jesus Loves You! :)

Or the name could be changed to the Republicrat party and the motto could be “Can’t we all just get along” with Rodney King as the Party Chairman…yeah, then everyone would be Republicrat!

I like the way the abortion issue is put here with the “never faced that choice” argument. It seems to me that precludes personal responsibility. Never faced the choice of being abstinent or using birth control. Nope, just found myself with a virgin birth here and don’t know what to do about this child….

It might be wise for you to do the research before you comment. Better to find out now, than to be standing before Jesus and explaining your words on that day when there’s no going back and changing your mind.

Just say’n — it’s better to be educated on ALL SIDES OF AN ISSUE, rather than to speak from how you hope things are. Because — you merely saying something is truth, doesn’t make it Truth! Speaking from your imagination is delusion!

And I don‘t condone same sex as ’marriage’, Mr OSHAWOTT. Call it a civil-union, but only hetero-sexuals can marry!
Maybe you think that only your left-wing, homosexual opinion is allowed. One way or the highway, Mr OSHAWOTT?
Two men or two women kissing as they are being “married” is repulsive to me. If they want to do it in private, thats fine with me, but don’t tell me it can be called “marriage”. We’ve already allowed civil-union’s, but to someone like you who wants to completely erase any semblence of morality, you need more.

Where in the Constitution does it say that the government has authorization to establish a definition of marriage of any sort?

“Maybe you think that only your left-wing, homosexual opinion is allowed. One way or the highway, Mr. Oshawott?”

That has got to be DUMBEST ad-hominem attack that you’ve launched. If only I had a trophy for “Dumbest Ad-hominem Attack ” to offer you…Anyhow, I’m a CONSTITUTIONAL CONSERVATIVE, so that in no way makes me a left-wing person.
And nice straw man argument about me saying that “I think that only my ‘homosexual’ opinion is allowed.” NOWHERE in my small post have I said that. In addition to that, I’m NO homosexual.

“Two men or two women kissing as they are being ‘married’ is repulsive to me. If they want to do it in private, that’s fine with me, but don‘t tell me it can be called ’marriage.’”

I agree with you, I do find seeing people of the same sex kissing one another to be personally uncomfortable. BUT, who am I to prevent them from living their lives however they want as long as they don’t infringe upon my rights? Perhaps if you read James 4:11 in the Bible, I think you might understand where I’m getting at.

Maybe the decline of any and all moral standards is not a problem to you. Only you know that answer.

My ‘point’ is that marriage is one of the moral standards we should not compromise any further.

My ‘reasoning’ is that gays already have legal protections, by law, for civil unions.

My ‘question’ is..why the push for using the term ‘marriage’ in referring to gays being joined, by law, into a legal partnership? Doesn‘t that ’offend’ hetersexuals who are married? Doesn’t that infer that there is no difference in what or who is being lawfully joined into a partnership? It seems that you are overly concerned with the feelings of gays, but don’t give the same respect to hetersexuals.

Where do you stop, exactly, with changing moral standards? Maybe the man-boy group will be allowed to call their relationship with a juvenile ‘marriage’.

Your argument about the Constitution not specifically giving anyone the right to designate one form of marriage different than another has validity. You, by using the Constitution to promote deleting any distinction between black and white, right or wrong, has me thinking you are not the Constitutional Conservative you say you are. I’ll leave you with these two goals of the Communist. They are from 1963.

“Maybe the decline of any and all moral standards is not a problem to you.”

Another straw man argument. I’m all for morality. However, I believe that it’s up to the PEOPLE to defend those moral standards. If you allow the government to be in charge of enforcing morals, it’s only a matter of time before you find yourself being on the receiving end of obeying a moral that you may oppose.

“My ‘question’ is why the push for using the term ‘marriage’ in referring to gays being joined, by law, into a legal partnership? Doesn‘t that ’offend’ heterosexuals that are married? Doesn’t that infer that there is no difference in what or who is being lawfully joined into a partnership?”

It seems that this is where the First Amendment comes in. Yes, I do stand by the dictionary definition of marriage. However, I respect the right of people that want to define marriage differently as long as they aren’t forcing or deceiving people into complying to their viewpoints, meaning that heterosexuals should never allow the government to outlaw homosexuality and homosexuals should never allow the government to force people into complying to their definition of marriage. Therefore, your empty claim that “I’m overly concerned about the feelings of gays, but don’t give the same respect to heterosexuals” is just another bogus ad-hominem attack.

      Mr ‘OSHWOTT’…
Well, we’ve both insulted one another.
Yes, I purposefully pushed my words to see where you are with your views on Constitutional rights vs State Rights, and to see where you really were with regards to gay-rights.

Ad-hominem, straw-man? Maybe a bit harsh there towards me.
Homosexual? Maybe a bit harsh towards you.

Like you, I do think the government should be out of the whole issue of marriage, but I also think they should be out of the issue of steroids in sports…and ownership of public land, as well as any number of other things they have no Constitutional authority to be involved in. Here in NJ, we have the Mt Laurel decisions of the 70′s, where municipalities have to meet “affordable housing” quotas. That’s a classic example of gov intrusion.

Maybe we aren’t so far apart after all. We do, after all, feel “uneasy” about gays openly kissing and, I would then assume, seeing those public ‘marriage’ ceremonies.

I don‘t have a problem with the lifestyle they’ve chosen. Its their right to live as they want.
In fact, my profession has placed me in contact (professionally) with many gay people, and I find them, generally, to be pleasant enough.

Where we may disagree is that… where is the line at which a society has erased any distinction between moral standards to the degree that anything is acceptable. I feel gays have lawful protection to join in a civil union, and I think that is sufficient. Santorum may feel that way

We do almost share the same viewpoints; therefore I’m so terribly sorry that I presumed that you had a neo-conservative viewpoint – I was dead wrong.
As for the morality issue, I understand where you’re getting at. I’m pretty sure that almost all Americans staunchly condemn thievery, robbery, rape, murder, and all those other freedom-infringing/ending actions. You’re absolutely right in that morals are necessary to maintain a free society. I just stand by my viewpoint that it should be up to the people themselves to defend them, hence the old saying, “You can’t legislate morality.”

I am not a catholic but Sanatorium would be one of the better choices in the GOP. However most of the GOP people seem to be trying to give Obama 4 more years. Evidently they don’t want the white house back. How could they possible want the white house back picking a candidate who got beat in the primaries last election by McCain who got slaughtered by Obama. It‘s possible the GOP is concentrating on winning the senate and retaining power in the house while running Romney who can’t possibly win the presidency!
