‘Stuck on Stupid’: Van Jones Compares Keystone Pipeline to Heroin Needle

Say what you like about Van Jones, but the man is a spectacularly gifted spokesman for the reptilian portion of the young American Left’s collective consciousness. And perhaps because of this, his speeches are eminently predictable – they will almost routinely be a mixture of Left wing talking points, adulation for Occupy Wall Street, defiance toward whatever group happens to be making a conservative counter-argument, and pure, undiluted narcissistic reinforcement for his typically under-informed audiences.
And perhaps no speech captures this eerie mixture better than Jones’ speech today at the Take Back the American Dream Conference. This speech hit all of Jones’ bases, slamming everyone from critics of Occupy Wall Street’s messaging to Republican supporters of the Keystone Pipeline to the Bush tax cuts to even the Trayvon Martin case. And as per usual, it was all framed in terms that cast “the young people” on the side of the virtuous Leftists, and everyone else on the side of the evil Right. Watch the speech below, followed by some of the juicier excerpts:
On GOP climate change skeptics: “Look at the [young people] who watched the hopes of a planet be destroyed by a do-nothing, obstructionist Congress that still has not moved on climate change, that still has not moved towards clean energy, that that has been stuck on stupid – afraid of science now for three or four years. Look at the face of that.”
On the Keystone pipeline: “They said, ‘we’re not going to let them jab this dirty needle of a pipeline into America. We’re not going to let them take the dirtiest energy ever created and cook it up and stick it into this country. And they broke the seal in August of last year, in civil disobedience against this White House, nobody a year ago was saying ‘it’s time to do civil disobedience against the White House.’ These young people said, ‘My future and the future of this planet is too great,’ and 350.org and Bill McKibben and the Native American tribes went down in the heat of August. And they sat in, and thousand were arrested, and the media tried to ignore it, but a message was sent. And through their courage, the project was derailed.”
On Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party: “Look at the young people who rescued America last year, coming out of that horrible August when the Tea Party put Congress in a headlock and said, ‘If you don’t do what we say, we’re gonna blow a hole in the American economy.‘ We’re gonna destroy America’s credit rating. And this whole town trembled in fear and gave in and said, ‘Okay, we‘ll create a Supercommittee’ to do super damage to the American people. And some young people and some struggling folks, no pollsters, no lobbyists, no big grants, went down with some sleeping bags and some tents to the scene of the crime against their future and occupied Wall Street and turned this country upside down.”

Another example of wanting to govern against the will of the people.

van was waxing poetic and his audience/synchophants eat this up with a spoon. those of us with a much firmer grasp of reality know that he was just giving his audience a wax job.
usually, i’ve noticed that when libs forsee defeat, they get all poetic and depressive. next, they go back to their green lives and retreat back into denial…….until their desire to fix (screw up) things again builds to a point of action.

Posted on June 18, 2012 at 8:36pmWell, as Van Jones makes the remark about the GOP stuck on stupid, because of the Keystone pipeline……well, Van, if ANY one group of people is stuck on stupid, lets be honest….it’s the Democrates and your other left leaning friends (groups). Just think about this for a second, your a big time jet setter now, so just think, with out that oil, Van, you’ll have to stat at home, because, just think Van, no oil, no jet fuel, no fly, no oil, no diesel fuel, no bus or MB’s, no oil, no gasoline, so Van, again, you’ll have to say either in Oakland or whereever. So, you liberals, need to be VERY careful for what the Hell your wishing for. Remember, not all of Americans are all that “stupid”!.

Posted on June 18, 2012 at 8:32pmDo a search on “United States Map of Oil Pipelines.” There are thousands of them running in every direction all around the country. Thousands already in existence – none causing any pollution or any problems at all. Obama and his fellow commie accomplice, Van Jones, are doing everything in their power to halt any job creation in this country. The Keystone Pipeline would create a hundred thousand jobs immediately. Educated people understand the disgusting and heartbreaking economic catastrophe being created in order to destroy our country.
God Bless America.

Posted on June 18, 2012 at 10:44pmWow, Lovingamerica you really don’t like facts do you? There are oil spills from pipeline all the time. Most recently this weekend 1,900 barrels were leaked in Louisiana. Last week in Alberta, Canada 3000 barrels spilled into the Deer River. In July of 2010 over 843,000 gallons where leaked into Talmadge Creek leading to the Kalamazoo River. Not to mention the estimated 1,000 barrels the spilled into the Yellowstone River.
Between January 2010 and February 2011, there were nine major pipeline explosions that resulted in 18 deaths, 13 injuries and 85 destroyed homes in the United States.
To claim there are no spills and no no problems is a blatant lie.
As far as job figures for the Keystone XL Pipeline. The HIGHEST estimates from TransCanada place temporary jobs (for about 2 years) at 4,200. Most estimates are near 2,000.
Then there is the issue of where the oil will go. It’s slated for foreign countries, not the U.S. Why else would the pipeline go straight to the gulf and not to refineries here in the U.S.?
Take some time, do some research and come back when you are ready to make factual statements and not just Koch brother talking points.

Maybe when your done bad mouthing someone, you could look at a small fact you seemed to have over looked. We have a rather large amount of refineries around the gulf. You don’t suppose the pipeline would be going to the gulf for that reason do you? Naw, I’m sure its just destroy the planet. Now go climb into your Prius and test the frontal impact resistance with a brick wall for us, thanks.

According to the Cornell University study,
Keystone XL will increase the price of heavy crude oil in the Midwest by almost $2 to $4 billion annually, and escalating for several years. It will do this by diverting major volumes of tar sands oil now supplying the Midwest refineries, so it can be sold at higher prices to the Gulf Coast and export markets. As a result, consumers in the Midwest could be paying 10 to 20 cents more per gallon for gasoline and diesel fuel, adding up to $5 billion to the annual U.S. fuel bill.

An we the public consume the gas in our cars. by consuming the gas we are protecting the enviroment because the storage of gas is to dangerous to keep.
so we…as mankind is good for earth.
