Student Reportedly Being Punished After Standing Up for Mentally Challenged Girl at School

18 Year Old Stormy Rich Punished After Standing Up for Mentally Challenged Girl at School | Umatilla High School

In the latest of what seems to be a string of reports of students and teachers bullying the mentally challenged in America’s schools, 18-year-old Stormy Rich is claiming that she has been penalized for standing up for the mentally challenged student in question.

The school maintains that Rich should not have taken matters into her own hands, though she had complained to the school for weeks about the issue, and did nothing violent.

Rich explained: “[The bullies] would be mean to her, tell her she couldn’t sit on certain spots on the bus…They were giving her food that they put in their mouth. I actually had to tell her to spit it out because she didn’t understand.”

Riding the middle school bus despite the fact that she is 18 because she had earned enough credits to avoid a first-period class, Rich said she immediately reported the behavior to the bus driver, per protocol, and the school authorities.

However, for weeks, nothing changed.

“I would sit on the bus every single day and see the bullying was still going on and nothing was being done…It was aggravating,” she said.

“When the school didn’t do anything, I told the girls if the school didn’t do anything, I was going to do something,” Rich continued, and that is apparently what got her in trouble, and led to her being banned from that particular bus.

A Lake County Schools spokesperson clarified to FOX 35 Friday that they removed Rich from the bus because she displayed bullying behavior in sticking up for the girl.

“She said what I did made me the bully,” Rich recalled incredulously, “with me telling the kids that if they didn’t stop, and if the school didn’t do anything, that I would have to handle it.”

The school also claims that the mentally challenged person in question never complained about bullying.

Rich countered: “What kid that’s being bullied goes and tells somebody?  They want to have friends.”

While Rich doesn’t have to worry about the situation much longer– she’ll be graduating with a 3.67 GPA and studying nursing with scholarships in the fall– she’s still upset.

“I never want this to happen to anybody, I mean I know we can’t save the whole world, but, at least we could try to help the people who go to [our school].”

Cameras on buses and in classrooms that can be accessed via the internet by parents anytime would put a halt to most of this nonsense. Most parents would be shocked and angered if they were able to witness the idiocy that takes place at every public school in the country on a daily basis. This is just another prime example of what happens when the teachers unions are allowed to have way too much power.
A similar incident happened to my youngest daughter when she was in middle school. She was bullied endlessly by two girls that kept trying to pick a fight with her. We both reported it to the school officials on 2 seperate occasions. They did absolutely nothing. Finally, after 2 weeks, the 2 girls and a large group of their freinds cornered her outside the school. My daughter tried to walk away but they all circled around her and one of them began hitting her. One of the school officials walked out and broke it up. Their solution to the problem was to have both of them arrested. My daughter had to go through 6 months of probation and now has a criminal record for Disorderly Conduct for trying to avoid a fight and for doing what the school told us was “the right thing”.
This whole damned country is broken. Completely turned upside down by the radical left and their idiotic philosophies. Please, Please, Please help me to start the “Weeding Out” process beginning with voting the leftist traitors out of office come Nov. (Be it Democrat “or” Republican)

Who told any of you that, Doing The Right Thing, was going to get you a pat on the back ?

In most cases when anyone does whats right your not given any kind of adulation or praise at all.

Everyone that reads this need to prepare themselves, because doing whats Right can cost you everything from your freedom, to your life. Look at what happen to Martin Luther King, Jr….

Put your Armor of Jesus Christ on, and let our Father in Heaven see your works.

We are all living in the days when Right will be wrong, and wrong will be Right…….

I agree, cameras should be in place. But, it only takes a matter of time before they find the “blind spots”. Especially when watching our mentally challenged students. Teachers have had their hands tied as well by sue happy parents, so it is no wonder teachers take a hands off policy anymore.

But what I am about to say is not the popular or trendy thing to say these days, but after taking care of the mentally handicapped for years, I disagree with trying to assimilate the mentally challenged with the General Population. Just like in public school, their is a niche for everyone, except for the mentally challenged. They will always be looked down upon, always at the bottom of the totem pole. Why can’t they go to their own school where they can find their own niche, be at the top or middle of their own totem pole? I hate to break this to you, but they know they are special, and different. And their lives are hard enough as it is without trying to fit into a system in which they would never fit. I watched as my precious friends left the nursing homes and moved to group homes. Instead of structured living conditions they begin to basically live on the street. Where as an adult they are bullied, tormented and abused. Now I am not saying it didn’t happen in the nursing homes either, but there was a better chance that it would be observed and stopped. Public school does not seem to be any different.

My son had a problem at school (6th grade) with 2 black girls constantly bullying him. I’ve raised him to never hit a lady. When I found out what was going on, I told him, you never hit a lady. But when a girl hits you first, she is no longer a lady. Pound the crap out of her. We have a talk show host here in the Dallas area with a solution. Tell the school 3 times that you’re being bullied. The 4th time, pound the crap out of them. If they give my son any kind of punishment, I will be at that office quicker than they can blink, telling them he told them three times and if they punish him, John David Wells of the Wells report has said he’ll make them famous for me. I also told one of their mothers (because I didn’t know the other one) and she took care of it at home. He doesn’t have it as bad from that one, and the other one isn‘t as brave when she doesn’t have someone standing with her.

Cameras are NOT the solution. There’s the Progressive mentality oozing out again.

The solution is involvement. The solution is STANDING UP. Parents need to decend on this school and stand in the Principal’s office in large, angry numbers.

You’re exactly right. However, the problem is the parents refusal to make the time and attend meetings. This same problem is why our country is going to hell. Everyone writes on message boards on the internet about how outraged they are, but they are not responsible enough themselves to go and do something about it. That is what is so pathetic and, unless this changes, it will continue to get worse and worse.

You didn’t say anything about the parents of these kids, do you think it always someone else’s job to deal with them? How often we hear, “my child is innocent” “my child is wonderful” The girl in this story did they right thing, but I’m betting the parents of the little monsters she had to deal with have all sorts of excuses for their children. How did an innocent girl get arrested and the court gave her 6 months probation? Maybe she wasn’t innocent.
If you want to fix these problems start holding parents responsible for their actions, including how they raise their children. Blaming everyone else seems to be the theme in this thread and it’s pathetic, no wonder this nation is going down the drain.

My now 22 year old handicapped son was practically beat in school and wouldn’t tell me. He was slammed into a chair and shoved up to a table because he didn’t want to eat lunch. He was thrown onto the floor because, being autistic, he didnt’ want to sit and listen to a story at story time. I had a teacher who posed as a parent because she didn’t want to lose her job, call me and tell me all this. They didn’t have a teacher for him, they would pass him back and forth every time one couldn’t stand working with him anymore. I was asked not to show up early to pick him up. That should have threw up a warning flag for me. That was a Montesorri school. Then my mother had to catch him being verbally abused by a 1st grade public school teacher, because again, he couldn’t complain to me. If this girl didn’t know enough to not eat food someone else had in their mouth, she thinks it’s normal behavior.

Long, long time ago when I was in high school, I saw a bully mocking another student with Cerebral Palsy. I told the guy to stop and his reply was that” I would have to make him.” Being as I was a pretty big guy at the time (6-2, 240) and could bench press over 400 lbs I could make him stop. But had been known around at school as a gentle giant and avoided a lot of conflict to a fault. But for some reason, I felt this was a worthy cause to use force and maybe some violence. So a grabbed the bully by the collar of his coat and pounded his head and shoulders against the locker until he nearly passed out. The assistant principal witnessed the whole thing. When it was all done he dragged us off to his office where told me that if I ever had to do that again, I should take him off school grounds before I did it. The then sent me back to class. The bully got a 3 week suspension for fighting.
I never was in a physical fight before that nor after that. To this day I think that I did the right thing. This girl did the right thing too. We are expected to stand for those who can’t, speak for those who are dumb, hear for those who are deaf, see for those who are blind and fight for those who are without fists. This is not a right but a responsibility. It is high time that we stand up for our responsibilities as well as our rights.

Deacon1, no you haven’t “spoken to many Liberal friends” who have the beliefs you expressed. You’re lying. First of all I suspect that’s a lie although like all good lies theirs probably a grain of truth there – somebody, somewhere, perhaps on the internet, said something of that nature, which you attributed to a liberal, or liberals in general. But you’re definitely lying when you say you have “liberal friends” that hold that opinion. Or stupid to believe these “friends” of yours are liberal.

Actually it’s the liberals who are fighting for the rights of the handicapped, something that the right objects to because often it means making accommodations that cost money to business owners, where money is king. But the handicapped pay taxes too, taxes that pay for the public services that benefit those companies.

JZS and survivorseed: although you may believe you represent a political perspective that is protecting the rights of others, I can tell you that deacon1 is likely not lying. I too have been surpised by some who claim the status of the liberal mindset as the protector of the victim, but them turn around and say similar things that deacon1 has shared- its called hypocracy. Unfortunately, I have seen the same from some conservatives. There are liberal and conservative hypocrites, and there are also true believes that may disagree with each other, but are both able to stand on their separate convictions (i.e., not hypocrites). I tend toward conservative fiscal views, and liberal social views- both sides of these arguements demand I only share and repeat their view in total, but will ultimatley allow me to stand on my principals, as I am consistent (not hypocritical). If you are trying to stand by the image of the liberal as the defender of the victim (in this case, handicapped), then you cannot reasonably insult (victimize) others with slander- that is hypocritical. There is no reasonable way for you to say deacon1 is being dishonest, unless deacon1 has been caught lying about this and you can prove it. As you have not, saying your belief is your opinion, but slandering them is victimization- and being the hypocrite. This behavior is an ongoing problem in this liberal/conservative conflict- insults instead of facts and reasoned debate, more often by the liberal.

Isn’t it ironic the worst offenders are the very liberals who demanded the handicapped be treated equally. Yes, it is a noble cause but needs to be faced with reality. Kids can be very mean, especially to those who are different and are perceived as easy targets. But to tell kids we should all sit down and sing Kumbaya and all will be well are not only blind but ignorant. There have always been bullies and always will but to berate someone who stands up for those who can’t should be fired.

You are the mistaken one. My husband, who is also a deacon, has several brothers who are very liberal, and think that Obama walks on water. They also are for abortion when it comes to someone who they deem unworthy of life, like the handicapped. It is the prolife conservative who is fighting for the right to life and for the rights of those we consider “handicapped”. The handicapped have less disability than those who espouse the belief that they (the handicapped) would be better off dead. It is an elitist mentality indeed!
I had a Down syndrome sister who taught me about compassion more than any book could. She is one of the reasons I became a RN. Those less fortunate than us are here to allow us to become less selfish and use our gifts to help others. Throwing this task to the government, denies a person the opportunity to grow in love; the government will seek what is expedient when funding becomes tight. We were better off when we were our brother’s keeper, not the government.

If the new healthcare law goes into effect, than down-syndrome babies will never be born, and mentally handicapped persons will not get the care they need., and seniors with heart problems will be told to go home where they will die waiting for an operation. It is happening already. It will be disasterous all the way around.

teawithsugar, then you should have any problem providing a link, which I encourage you to do.

No, killing handicapped children simply isn’t a liberal opinion, anymore than thinking the moon is made of cheese is a liberal opinion. That‘s one of the most ridiculous ideas I’ve ever heard here, and that’s saying a lot.

Sorry, liberals are on the other side: the ones supporting accomodations for handicapped people in public places, including schools. The Tea Party, like Allen West, are the ones saying it’s too expensive to accomodate handicapped people.

      @JZS

Actually, you have it completely backwards, modern liberalism aka socialism or progressivism is founded on the premise that the individual is subordinated to the collective. When resources are distributed, the weak or non productive are expunged and or discouraged. This is the ultimate progress of modern liberalism though many soft liberals do not realize it. Socialism is ultimately social engineering. Research Margaret Sanger, progressivism and the Eugenics movement which changed its name to Planned Parenthood after Hitler gave Eugenics a bad name. If you being a troll, you won’t look into it but if you can be intellectually honest, do it.

This is a result of “Values Neutral” education; Is it not? Funny how the Public School System thinks just like the Dems, their “Blood Brothers”, (Who show their hypocrisy EVERY DAY, via the Biased news media!

Evil exists; and to deny it’s existence is an IMPOSSIBLE task; – The result is a TOTAL REVERSAL of it’s definition, in the search for a False Righteousness.

Now it is EVIL to disturb the False Calm of unconfronted, Obvious wrong-doing.

    Pretty Sick, Aye?!?!?!

!0′s of millions spent on a government anti-bullying campaign, and someone finally reports bullying and stands up for the bullied..and the nut jobs penalize the hero.

Remember, bullying rules are intended to solely protect the pet victim of the liberals. One week it’s blacks, the next gays, the next someone else. You have to be careful because it changes without due notice.

The Marxist plan follows a plan. First the mentally challenged, next those with physical handicaps, third sexual deviants – homosexuals, pedophiles, bestiality, and those with fetishists. Fourth, all religion is replaced with the religion of the State – meaning Government is the new “god”. This has happened before, and will happen again if these Marxists are kept in power.

Having a developementally challenged twin sister, I have seen the bullying and didn’t hesitate to stop it. I always worried about her when I wasn’t around to protect her. She would never stand up to the bullies because of her disability and I am sure there are a lot of others who would not be able to stand up to them either. Thank God for people like Stormy! These handicapped kids need advocates looking out for them.

The latest example from our public schools of Political Correctness run amok. Rarely does a week go by that we don’t read these types of horror stories coming out of our public school system. This is another example of why we need a Voucher System. I plan on letting Lake County School Superintendent, Dr. Susan Moxley, what I think of her district’s total lack of common sense. They need to fire and ban those so-called “school officials” because they have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are unfit to be in charge of ANY children. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was to come out that these “school officials” were behind the bullying.

Those who allowed this bullying should be fired. I bet the child was not black. The girl is right and a stand up girl. She has more sense of Justice than those sick bast@@ds running the schools. Get them out, fire them and take your children out of public schools. They are indeed trying to train the youth not to speak up for what is right. Someone does need to do some major azz kicking when adults who are so weak minded as to allow a mentally challenged to be bully and come down on someone who is trying to do the right thing.

they want to teach people to NEVER stand up for what’s right. keep your head down, feel lucky it’s not you being picked on, and move on. it‘s so much easier to rule people when people are conditioned not to stand up for what’s right…

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out–Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out–Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out–Because I was not a Jew.
