Student Shot to Death at Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. (The Blaze/AP) — A 21-year-old student was shot to death at a Mississippi State University residence hall late Saturday night, prompting campus-wide alerts as authorities searched for suspects who fled the scene.

University spokeswoman Maridith Geuder said police received a call about the shooting at Evans Hall around 10 p.m. Saturday. Victim John Sanderson was taken to a hospital where he subsequently died.

Three male suspects fled the building in a blue Crown Victoria. As of early Sunday, no arrests had been made and the campus remained under emergency conditions. Police do not believe the suspects are students, Mississippi’s Clarion-Ledger reported.

According to the newspaper, Sanderson was found shot multiple times outside a dorm room at Evans Hall, though officials believe he was shot inside the dorm.

“They worked on him for quite some time,” Bill Kibler, vice president of student affairs, told the Clarion-Ledger

Shortly after the shooting, the university began sending a series of text message alerts to students. Geuder said a team of university officials and police was meeting early Sunday. The team is automatically convened in emergencies under a school policy.

The four-story Evans Hall holds about 300 male students and is located on the north side of campus. The campus of about 20,000 students is located in a rural area in the northeastern part of the state, about 125 miles northeast of Jackson.

The school’s website says the campus is located in a low-crime area, and that emergencies are rare.

Additional information was expected to be released at 10 a.m. Sunday.

      Enlighten us with your stats. You gonna use the ones from the FBI. The same ones that show blacks to be 13% of the total pop, but shows that they commit 49% of murders, 64% of rapes, and 73% of armed robberies?

      Or the ones that show that Black Americans send more males to prison than to college? Or where seven out of ten black babies are born to families without a father present?

      Or are you going to show that the cities with democrat black mayors have the highest gun violence and murder rates? Or were you gonna show us that it is generally blacks from subsadized gettos and projects that are on the democrat welfare system that do most of the crimes.

      Are you going to show the stats were it is actually black males that are getting slaughtered by other black males, but because of PC and a liberal minded media, that we dare not show how violent rap music is.

      How about the fact that last year less than 50 black women in America were raped by white men, but over 10,000 white women were raped by black men?

      @rangerp – Those stats are really horrifying. I‘m sure they’ll say that they get caught or falsely accused more often. When working as a visiting nurse near Queens College, my patient’s teenage son (black) told me that some guys would have ex girlfriends raped for less than $25.00. I couldn’t believe it at the time. There are shootings around there after dark. I always tried to go there early. It’s like the wild west without the cowboys. Drugs? Welfare? Hopelessness? Why is this happening.

      I have yet to take a position so I don’t understand how it could be “demolished”. I simply asked for clarification on what LAKYALE meant by his comment. I suspect it is unfounded racism in which case I will overturn it in a heartbeat, but until I‘m sure I don’t want to jump to conclusions.

      If any of you can clarify his comment on my behalf that would be much appreciated. I have no issue setting any one of you straight.

      I’m wondering how this story has been “updated” but still doesn’t give the description of the suspects.

      Yes, per other articles on the Web, it appears to be 3 black males. Gang related or not, I found nothing.

      Either way, history shows whites will NOT call in a white Rev. AL or Jesse Jackson and the story will soon disappear. So says history…

      I believe Lakyale is is referring to the hubbub of the Trayvon case in terms of rioting…

      So – to VOTEINBUSH – Lakyale is stating facts and guessing history will repeat itself. I agree with him. There was no riot when the 8 yr old white child was doused on fire recently by an older black child as he yelled – that’s what you deserve for being white-. This too will disappear.

    For those who claim race does not matter in crimes, you have been misled to beleive black racism has no consquence in murder and harassment. You would not say the same thing if the KKK was mainstreamed in power and doctrine the way black racism is today. Critical Race Theory is the doctrines of the Black Klan and right now the Nation of Islam is telling you loud and clear they want a race war. In fact, they encourage and conduct a race war under the radar (mainly the media refuses to cover it) and you stick your head in the sand. There have been many black racist attacks on whites over the past year in cities and most recently a white boy was doused with gas and set on fire by black racists. Ignoring race is honorable at times and dishonorable at other times. You need to discern the difference. The idiots who are always yelling WAKE UP should WAKE UP!

      You bring up some good points. I want to maybe clarify a little. If I may. Blacks cannot be racist by definition. Racism means the person holds that their race to be superior. That is just nonsense. Even MLK understood this. That is why he made interracial marriage a central tenet of his pseudo religion he used to push the socialist program of the CRA on the American public. Those of sub-Saharan heritage have contributed very little to society as a whole other than manual labor and even then they had to be compelled to do so at the end of a whip. I personally cannot think of one single instance that anything of value was contributed by a person of sub-Saharan heritage within their own purview. Mainly because one does not exist. Some can flourish in another context. One has to remember when the Europeans brought slaves from Africa in the centuries past, said individuals were still in the stone age. They were preliterate. Actually many tribes still are. There were no flourishing empires as there were in South America.

      So it isn’t racism. It is blind hatred. Not of whites but of themselves and ultimately of the God that made them as they are. There is no reasoning with blind rage. There is no relief from it.

Many young people should take a day and read how news journalist use to write a story. Many times as in this case you have a morning story (something that happened over night, which in the evening edition had more facts. Gee today you rarely see or hear a follow up story. That is what used to build reader loyalty …Today that is missing…

      It is wrong to believe Sharpton, Farrakahn or Jackson welcomes the abortion of young of Black babies but they are silent on the subject and here is why; It’s a number games! for every abortion of an African-American baby 4 are born. Where as with their white counter parts the abortion ratio is more like 1 abortion for every 2.5 white babies born.       I am a former MSU instructor and have family attending MSU. The campus is a gun-free zone for students and faculty even with the new Mississippi “enhanced” carry permit (in apparent violation of HB 506 passed last year); others with an “enhanced” CCW permit may carry on campus. Basically if you are a student or work at MSU you are defenseless by university regulation. I no longer teach there so I am legally “allowed” to carry on campus. My family members who attend MSU cannot…
      Still waiting to hear more on the victim.

      I would respectfully point out that frequently the all the details are not immediately available when a crime occurs. Sometimes, law officials delay releasing details if they think it could fan the flames, so to speak. Let them do their job.

      As for the Blaze story, unless they have a reporter down there in Mississippi, they are getting their info second or third hand. Their job is to get the story up on the site ASAP. Details can be filled in later. Reporters on location are going to get the details first.

      And finally, please remember, unlike certain other media outlets, the Blaze writers need to be accurate. Otherwise, trials in the court of public opinion happen, like, oh let’s say….O.J. Simpson, or maybe Casey Anthony. Or hey, how about that Zimmerman guy in Florida?

      Fact is, we don’t know what happened for sure in any of those cases. Other than the Zimmerman case, we may never know. But let’s not get into the mob mentality, like other groups and issue fatwas when the facts are still not conclusive. Otherwise, we will have vigilante law and our town just had a fourth gang related shooting stemming from a tragic incident four years ago. How many people have to die before someone says, “Hey, wait just a minute. Let’s make sure we know what we are doing.”

      I am sorry Vechorik that you can’t recognize that the color of the skin has nothing to do with the killing of another person. One person is dead, the real question what was the motive of this killing not was the color of the shooters skin? The three men could be purple it does not add to the story.

      It is also possible, when the story was written they felt color of skin was not relevant to the story or they did not have that information. It is easy to arm chair quarter back from you own home. When you become a journalist, then you can write whatever you wish in your stories.

      Yes, it happens here all the time here in our local news: The “journalists” will (in explicit detail) describe the car, the gun, the setting, and how much was stolen, but NEVER describe the violent thugs-at-large. It’s unbelievable. The journalists seem to have been taught in school that it‘s better to let people’s imaginations run wild, rather than to state the facts, and to let the facts fall where they may.

    We send kids to die in Afghanistan, and Iraq, and we pin medals on their body bags as a reward.

    March 2012….msnbc does program on racial divide in colleges and how unfairly minorities are treated…stiring the pot ???

      Race was not mentioned because the AP did not mention race. The Blaze writers get the info from the AP. If you go read the AP story it does not mention race either. Nor does the Huffington Post. Quit trying to create something that isn’t.

      The whole pint is it shouldn’t matter, but somehow the left tries to make horrible murders like this seem to be worse if it is a black person murdered, often leading to protests and occasionally riots. All life is precious and murders shouldn’t be seen as an opportunity to divide groups and get votes.

      If he is white, will it get the media attention at the case down in Flordia?

      I would bet that it does not, even though it looks like three thugs went in and point blank murdered (execution style) a man in his room. Funny how the media works on issues like this.

      I jumped over to huffpo, and read there blogs. One of the first I saw, was something about three republican teabaggers just shot someone, then much of the typical anti gun stuff. Liberals are a dangerous bunch in the way they will twist anything, and will perpetuate a lie.

      I’d rather stay away from even more race baiting myself. We do not know any other specifics of the case and will have to give the authorities time to do their investigation. For a guess as to the motive I would think that it involved drugs, money, or both.

      This is the most honest report I’ve read since the Sixties. Belief in Santa Clause declines when someone wonders how all of those presents get delivered in one night. Belief in Solar energy as a viable alternative will also suffer in a similar manner when people realize how much area it will take unless we return to the caves. We still are plagued by people who think that a solar panel on their roof will supply all of their needs. In the Sixties, it would have taken a two hundred mile diameter dedicated to collection. Now it is even bigger. There is no place east of the Mississippi that could hold a solar plant designed for total replacement of oil and other means without moving towns and large chunks of states.

      It would be very good for a website to list all the victims of the Black Jihad in the same way that http://www.thereligionofpeace.com has been listing all the victims of Islamic Jihad. Seeing the list, seeing it go up day after day, month after month, year after year, is compelling and really brings home the reality in a way that random news reports never can.

      being the story did not give any description of the three men that fled, I will assume they are black. I have learned over the years that if the believed offender is white, they will come out and say so initially. If he is black, they will keep it hush hush for as long as possible.

      If the person shot is white, will anyone call it a hate crime? Will Obama make any comments about the victim being worthy of claiming he would look like his son?

      If the killer is black, and the victim is white, will the MSM give it nation wide coverage. Will people march on the streets? Will Jessie and Al show up?

    We know the what, when, where and how; the investigation will lead to the who to bring the subjects to a criminal trail.

    People get too caught up on trying to figure out the why before the criminal trial is complete (innocent before proven guilty anyone? anyone? anymore? ) which turns everything back to guilt before innocence.
