Russia Today reports:
Student protesters in Italy clashed with police in the Sicilian capital Palermo on Wednesday as part of nation-wide demonstrations over university budget cuts that are expected to be approved by parliament. Carrying placards bearing the name of famous books, thousands of protesters marched through the streets, some wearing helmets similar to those used by riot police. One of Rome’s most famous fountains on Gianicolo Hill ran red after demonstrators poured red paint into the water. Students said the red colour symbolised both the blood spilt in last week’s violent protests, and the budgets of Italy’s education system. Its reported that protests in Rome, Milan and Sardegna had so far passed off peacefully

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 1:24pm“Austerity?” What if the media’s pushing that “reason” so people won’t want spending cuts here? Anyone think of that? I bet another reason there’s riots is FASCISM. All you people calling for their police to fire on their EMPLOYERS are ridiculous. Go ahead and call for that when riots come here to America and you have close friends or family that are socialists (even though you completely disagree with their philosophy). Heartless people.

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 1:50pmThe bad guys will only win if the good guys know enough not to drive down the highway to hell with them. It WILL hit the fan. It is unavoidable. Most of the kids and the unwashed masses don’t have a clue and many will have to learn the hard way. The smart folks will hunker down while the crazies have their fits, and hopefully there will be enough pieces left to pick up. That being said, ammo does make good stocking stuffers.

Want some wipers for your belly button window? You are the problem. Your the kind of person that is so surprised when a bear rips your arm off, because he was so nice to you a few times. You will not survive. If my socialist relatives choose to riot with bombs and damage I hope they do get shot!!!!!
Report Post »In fact I hope they get gut shot so they have time to think about how stupid they were before they bleed out. Harsh times are coming. God bless

How dare you call me part of the problem you have no idea who I am. I am more than ready for the riots here. You‘re right I might not survive but it won’t be because I’m part of the problem, it will be because I’m fighting the problem. If anything, YOU are part of the problem trying to divide people when we ALL know the REAL enemy is Washington. Not a bunch of punk kids. We can either unite and organize against the real threat or let the media-government complex continue to divide us so they can round us up easier. Grow up.

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 3:51pmsilver..I agree with you to an extent, but its hard to be a rational individual on this board sometimes because people will tear you down for not thinking the way they do. I think the people who realize why austerity measures need to be taken need to take to the streets to confront (non-violently) these “kids” and try to have a discussion. If that doesnt work, then let them be idiots and do what they do.

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 4:23pmNeversaynever, thank you for being sane and civil. I agree, most of my waking moments I’m discussing these things with anyone I might be around. Including many socialists I know. You know what’s interesting though…The “right” and “left” (even though the political spectrum is a scam – you either want control of people or you don’t) both agree on WHO is to blame. Both sides hate the banksters (Federal Reserve, etc.), the corporations that have taken over government (fascism/corporatism), and the criminal self-serving politicians. The only thing the two sides disagree on is how we can make everyone better off. The socialists (due mostly to ignorance) truly believe collectivism will solve our problems. The libertarians (and most conservatives), myself included, know that free markets and free people create the most prosperity for the most people.
My point is this: When SHTF there will be three broad factions. The political/social establishment, the leftists, and the right. We can either unite against the establishment, or let them take us all down by dividing us.

Posted on December 23, 2010 at 11:00amhey, umm, get a life ya! the only ones calling for riots here are the leftist commuinists called LIBERALS! AKA Vann ‘the man’ Jones, so please get a grip on reality. If you were paying any attention to LA, they were rioting against tuition hikes too! So to think the left isn’t planning to take to the streets when austerity hits home, you’re just plain wrong!
Report Post »silveracer44
Posted on December 24, 2010 at 5:23amWell, you didn’t listen to my point, Sgt. When the riots come, the government won‘t care if you’re a commie or not. The government is more worried on paper about the “right wing extremism” than socialists. And they’re not the only ones calling for riots. Come on, man.

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 1:04pmThis is what being “entitled” gets you. And think of the youth, and many adults, in our country for that matter that “feel entitled” to something. We are not far away from this scenerio and it’s scary. I had to pay for my education… and I still am paying back student loans. Loans which I took out because I wanted the education they provided. But I am responsible and are paying them back.
The people today just want everything for free, forget about a “free lunch”….they want a “free EVERYTHING and catered at that”!

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 4:08pmWake up Silver. Its well documented these riots in Europe are orchestrated by the communists. The governments of Europe will either push back with lethal force or they will be destroyed. They are in an existential fight for survival and do not realize it yet.

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 5:32pmJoisy – I‘m sick of people insulting me on this thread without even THINKING about what I’m saying. Do I support communists? No. I‘m sorry I didn’t realize how “well documented” it was these were ONLY socialists rioting ONLY because of austerity. Let‘s assume that’s true though. Since the government plans on doing that to us just as equally as doing it to socialists, what’s the point of hoping those FASCIST GOVERNMENTS in Europe crush dissent? Me thinks many are rioting because of FASCISM not just austerity.
By the way, WTC 7 collapsed at free fall speed in its own footprint. And if you don‘t know what I’m talking about then YOU need to wake up and stop being so quick to judge others.

BBC reported it collapsing 20 minutes before it actually did.

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 1:59pmIf things reach a point where tear gas, pepper spray and water hoses no longer deter destructive rioters, deadly force becomes a viable option. When they hurl deadly objects such as molotov cocktails at the police (as they recently did in Greece), I would have no problem with the police opening fire on the offenders. Becoming “collateral damage” would be the unfortunate price some would pay for being willing participants in a rioting mob. No sympathy here.

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 11:06pmHere’s the kicker – there’s more than one way to skin a cat, and more than one way to reduce a deficit. I‘m less familiar with Italy’s crisis compared to that of Britain or the United States, so I’ll just speak in generalities. Cuts to education are a poor way to fix the deficit, because they reduce a nation’s long term economic prospects. Much of the Western world (America included, if not especially) is already lagging behind nations like China and Japan in the education of its youth, and since our entire future is pegged on this concept of information and technology industries (because “free trade” has left our manufacturing base completely de-industrialized and outsourced to the Third World) we stand to suffer significantly if we fall behind any more.
If you still want this country to be economically competitive in twenty years, don’t start the slashing at educations.
Report Post »Armed Patriot
Posted on December 23, 2010 at 9:05amBetter_Red_than_Dead Hey commie pinko… The outrageouslly high costs in education in OUR country is due to the teachers unions, double dipping, and is not spent on the “kids”. You could double the price spent and the unions would need to confiscate thier fair share to the point where the actual money, actually spent on each “kid” is still about the same.
In regards to the college age students, why am I required to pay for their education. I have a house and family to pay for, to feed. I worked for this. I was able to afford a whopping $35.00 on Christmas for my family this year, its been a bad year. Those students have nicer phones than I do, better shoes, nicer clothes, and can still afford to go out to the clubs. You want me to continue to pay for thier education while we starve??? Get a job.
