Students Tricked Into Eating Moose Poop During Field Trip…While Teachers Watched

moose droppings prank

A Canadian school official said three teachers watched and did nothing as students were tricked into eating moose droppings during a school trip. (Image source: CBC News)

Three teachers supervising a field trip were aware that an eighth grade student was about to eat moose poop and did nothing to stop it, a Canadian school official said.

The girl did so, reportedly getting it stuck in her braces and vomiting, according to Canada’s Winnipeg Free Press. At least one other boy ate the droppings as well. Both teens had been told the poop was chocolate-covered almonds.

Scott Kwasnitza, superintendent of the Lord Selkirk School Division in Manitoba, Canada, said a parent chaperoning the canoe trip offered the students the droppings as a joke.

“I can certainly confirm that a parent supervisor offered these moose droppings in the guise of a very poorly conceived joke,” Kwasnitza told the Free Press.

Karen Eyolfson, whose 13-year-old son was one of the students who ate the poop, said the parent offered the “almonds” from a sandwich baggie, according to CBC News.

“He dug into a bag and popped one in his mouth,” Eyolfson told CBC. “As soon as it hit his mouth somebody tells him, ‘You just ate moose [expletive],’ and the whole group of people started laughing at him.”

When her son ran to wash out his mouth, a 13-year-old female classmate who didn’t witness the incident was tricked into doing the same thing, Eyolfson said.

By that point all three teachers were aware of what was happening but didn’t intervene, Kwasnitza said. He didn’t identify the teachers by name or title, but Eyolfson said one was actually the school principal.

Both students received medical attention to be treated for possible bacterial infection.

Kwasnitza wouldn’t discuss what disciplinary action was handed down to the teachers involved, but said all were at school Wednesday and have not been fired.

The man behind the prank was not the parent of a student on the trip and will not be volunteering for the school again, Kwasnitza said.

My Grampa used to call them, “Smart Pills”. We, as gullible kids, asked him, “Why do you call them smart pills, Grampa?” He then offered them to us to taste after which we would say that they tasted like crap and of course his response was, “See, you‘re gittin’ smarter already!”

This has nothing to do with political correctness. Your statement alone suggests that you are misinformed as to the actual meaning of being P.C. because is does not apply here.
This problem has to do with health, safety and the responsible treatment of our children by adult chaperones. These kids were humiliated in front of their classmates, not an old man and his grand kids. Try gaining a little perspective.

This isn’t about being “PC” or a trip down memory lane. This is about calling a mean-spirited deception a prank. Hell, I prank people at work quite often… and prepare for reprisals. I’m pretty sure if I tricked somenone into eating feces, I’d at mininum be given my walking papers. And that‘s what I’d expect if I was the target of this brand of ‘comedy.’
If you can defend this, you’re saying, “Yep. I’m okay with that being done to me or someone I care about.” Sure you are….
This brand of ‘funny’ belongs on idiot reality TV and is expected to be limited to like-minded jerks and frat boys. Or maybe we could make this FUNNIER and pee in bottle and offer that to help wash out the taste. I’m sure elementary school students would fall for this.
#1 Rule of Pranking: Never do something to another human being you wouldn’t tolerate being done to you or someone you care about.
The only possible redemption here is for all the ‘adults’ involved to set down to bowl of moose pellets and dig in while the kids who were targeted and those kids’ friends and family observe.
I’m not a violent man by nature, but if a so-called adult in a position of authority pulled this stunt on my children, you’d better hope you can handle yourself in a physical confrontation because, all reason aside, I‘m a comin’ for ya. And I’m gonna have bag full of mixed cat turds and dog crap. It’ll be HILARIOUS. Call your friends. Bring a camera.

Someone tricks my kids into eating crap for the sake of a few laughs and there will be problems. For them and the administrators. Also consider the possible reputation damage and negative psychological affects of now being the “poop eater” at school. This is the type of crap that produces Columbine type problems. My guess is you have no kids, (or might pretend to for the sake of argument) but this is unacceptable for multiple reasons and no matter what outcome this story has, those kids lives will be changes forever. @ LAWDOGG
If you are a law dog, you would know US law is based upon British law which in turn is based upon the Bible.
The Bible is factually accurate even in translation it’s very exact. Example the Bible states “God sat upon the sphere of the earth” when people believed the earth was flat.
The Bible stated stars are like the sands of the ocean back when everyone thought there were less than a thousand stars. Bible prophecy about Israel has all come true. The state of Israel is a miricule. The Bible states a future main war will be Russia, China, Turkey, and Iraq against Israel. This is center stage. Just 6 months ago Turkey was on the side of Israel. Now Turkey is changing sides. Prophecy is being fulfilled. If You study prophecy Christ fulfilled, it’s mathmatically impossible for Christ to have not been the Son of God. The Jews, Muslims, and Christians all agree Jesus existed as a prophet. The question is was he also God’s Son? This is why Jesus said to the Jews “whom do you say I am?” I do agree in the end believing is by faith. Let’s say your right and there is no true God. What have I lost? Nothing. Now let’s say there is a God to believe in. What have you lost if the Bible is correct? Everything. My position makes the most sense. The Bible states you are without excuse as God’s work can be seen all around you. Where do you think all this complex science came from? A ba

Thanks for the evangelical education. First – The bible actually states that “God sat upon the circle of the earth” not sphere. Second – The bible has stated this for a couple thousand years and you suggest everyone ignored it until Columbus made his declarations? I disagree. The church has been corrupt for far too long and shaped our history into what it wants us to believe. Another means of control.

Have you ever given any thought as to why Jesus is referred to as the “Good Shepard”? To control his sheeple.
Now for a little fact (not fiction).
Unfortunately the Alexandria library was burnt down, but many copies of the books from multiple civilizations there showed how the ancient and Classical Greeks knew the Earth was round. Flat Earth theories sprang up because of the Church misinformation and bigotry during the Dark ages, and were disproved during the Renaissance, when ancient knowledge was at last brought to human conscience. The Church burned Giordano Bruno for being Heliocentrist.
The Church and its literary belief in the Divine Revelation of the Bible has held scientists back, and in some cases still does.
By the way, even if the Hebrews thought the earth was a circle, this doesn’t have to mean a sphere. A circle is a flat 2D object.

No disrespect, but the rest of your argument is based on attempted soothsaying abilities that can and have been manipulated over time in an effort to seem more valid. The truths they hold are in the eye of the beholder and

      Read Isaiah 40
There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth, the dwellers in which are as grasshoppers, the One who is stretching out the heavens just as a fine gauze, who spreads them out like a tent in which to dwell,

Then pull out an Apollo 11 picture of the earth. From any point above the earth, you would see it as a circle. Any reference made is correct with the facts, as with the other scriptures.

And the Hebrew word for circle is also used in reference to spheres.
      חוּג
(chuwg)- a circle, sphere, used of the arch or vault of the sky.

The real test is that there is NO description in the Bible of the earth “setting on elephants, standing on a turtle” or being held up by Atlas.

In fact it describes the earth as not setting on anything.

      Job 26:7
He is stretching out the north over the empty place,
      Hanging the earth upon nothing;

It was not until some 400 years ago did we even begin to understand about gravity and how it holds the planets in place.

Exactly, These “Adults” are at fault. 13 year olds are gullible, especially when it comes to advice from their teacher, camp counsellor or another child’s parent.

The teacher should be FIRED! The parent who was involved cna’t be fired but but should be banned from ever chaperoning a school trip in the future.

As a cadet on the CAP, almost every new cadet was sent to obtain a bucket of “Prop Wash”. Thinking it easa some kind of soap, the eager new cadets would ask everyone where they could find it. At one summer camp, all the new first year new campers, after a week at camp, were told that they needed to see the camp nurse because they had a bad case of “Ear Lobes”. The nurse would go along with the prank and would paint their ears with Gensen Violet or also known as “Blue Gall”, a purple antiseptic used on the horses. Anyone could spot a new camper a mile away. These were harmless exercises and caused no one harm BUT enticing a child to eat moose poop? In my opinion, that goes beyond prank and becomes a serious case of child endangerment. E-COLI OR SALMONELLA poisioning is no laughing matter.

I believe that they should have to do the same as they did to the students .. feed them poop and see how they like it .. obviously never “grew up” .. kind of reminds me of the occupant of the White House.

“The man behind the prank was not the parent of a student on the trip and will not be volunteering for the school again, Kwasnitza said.” Shouldn’t that be a prerequisite?
Congrats you just made friends with a bunch of 13 year olds, by showing them how to be a bully… idiot.

When I was a kid I was over at the local “Nature Park” and there was a very nice, bark peeled stick standing next to a bush. There was a sign that read “There is a bee’s nest in this bush. Don’t poke it with this stick.”

The whole world is eating the same thing.

    Just more loosely formed.

Stimulus and Diarrhea are the same thing.
