Study Seeks to Explain Disproportionately High Unemployment Numbers in Black Communities

According to Business Insider, the unemployment rate for black Americans spiked to a shocking 16.7 percent in August, up from 15.9 percent the previous month.
This makes it the highest it has been in 25 years, up from the previous record of 16.5 percent in March and April 2010.
The report continues: “the unemployment rate for black males rose a whole percentage point to 18 [percent]. Even more staggeringly, the black youth unemployment rate in August was 46.5 [percent], up from 39.2 [percent] in July.”
Last month’s soaring black unemployment rate gives life to the claim that African Americans have been disproportionately affected by the shrinking public-sector.
Why is that?
Well, according to a study by the U.C. Berkeley Department of Labor, “the public sector is the most important source of employment for African Americans and a key source of high-paying jobs, especially for black women.”
The Berkeley report also states that African Americans are 30 percent more likely to hold government jobs than any other group; from 2008-2010, 21.2 percent of black workers were employed in the public sector, compared to just 16.3 percent of non-black workers.
Therefore, Business Insider believes that the recent decrease in public sector jobs explains why African Americans have been hit so much harder by government budget cuts and layoffs than their non-white counterparts. This might also explain why black unemployment rate was double the 8 percent unemployment rate for whites.
According to the same article, the white unemployment rate has actually fallen, down from 8.7 percent last year, while the black unemployment rate has risen from 16 percent.
The public sector continues to eliminate jobs, including 17,000 in August alone, bringing the number to over 600,000 since 2008.
Business Insider concludes: “The ongoing contraction of state and local governments suggests that the black unemployment trends are not likely to reverse any time soon. The prospect is perhaps most alarming for black youth, 46.5 percent of whom are now unemployed.”
If it is indeed the case that the number of local and federal jobs will continue to diminish, a trend many would like to see maintained, then perhaps it is time for the man who promised “good jobs to the jobless” to think about promoting expansion and hiring in the private sector.

Government-assisted areas tend to be grouped
Most government-assisted areas are POVERTY areas
Poverty leads to crime, drugs, single-parent families
Businesses don’t want to locate in poverty areas because of government-assisted problems.
Government-assisted people have “lost faith” and don’t believe they can EARN A LIVING (or don’t want to)
Seems to me, GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE is the problem.

Anyone that has ever driven through them knows what the area looks like and most make a hasty pass through with their doors locked and windows up. The places are a wreck. The business are almost non-existent because businesses will not set up shop in those type of neighborhoods. You also have the demographics that the majority of citizens living in those communities are on the Government dole and have no need to work. There is a small amount of truth why people call the Black Communities the projects – they are Government Projects.
The list can go on and on why these communities have the highest unemployment rate or were some how hit the hardest. How about one brain cell Maxine Walters and Sheila Jackson go check out some of these Black Communities in their limousines without security and see what happens. The Black Community has high unemployment even when the Economy is going gangbusters. You have to want to work, and you have to want to get out of these communities.

A 21 year old black male “cool walks” into the managers office, wearing baggy gangbanger clothes, 10 pounds of fake gold chains, wearing his best “Don’t mess wit a brudda u craka!” snarl on his face, hands over an application looking like it would have been more appropriate to have used a crayon to fill it out, proceeds to speak in nothing but ebonics or 3rd grade verbage, has no job history that can be discussed which would not warrant calling the police, an education which halted years ago when he became a “soldier” for the Compton 3RD street DeathDealers, has 3 kids with three women who each have kids by yet another “homie” from the “hood”, proceeds to balk at having to work 5 days a week, including nights and weekends…then gets up and leaves when hearing that the hourly wage for his entry level position will come to less than he gets on welfare and selling crack for his “posse.”
Oh…and upon leaving, hooks up with Al Sharpton to scream about how “whitey is holding them down” before going to the mall to shoplift some new “kicks” to make himself feel better…cause after all…he had a rough day.
Stop the entitlements, hand them their butts in a sling when they start to riot, fight and demonstrate…and they’ll finally get the idea that their “free lunch” has finally dried up.

The CBC keep feeding the actions that keep these people like slaves; not out of love & help, but to keep them down on the farm so CBC members keep their voting base and keep them dumbed down.
Get some pride in yourselves, stop relying on your congressmen, who want to keep your down, stop having kids out of marriage, get a job, get off welfare and watch your sense of pride escalate. Then, get God in your life, that should be first.

Most people today do not realize they are slaves to the system, a system where they get a few scraps from the table. The ones who do move up are then slapped with the burden of carrying everyone else on their backs through taxes and the taking of their profits annually through new tax burdens that they did not foresee two years previously but were planning on expanding or using the gains to build their own retirement homes. I feel sorry for small businesses..I once dreamed about going into a small business of my own but see now I would be fighting capital hill every step of the way, working extrodinarially long hours just to keep my head above water while an employee or two take me to court for some kind of frivilous law suit. No Way! Forget that mess. If your in it then my hat is off to you. I am self employed in the private sector and am my own boss, so is my wife. I am lucky in this respect.

We had integrated schools through the 60s 70s and80s so every Afriacn American had access to the same education theiir white counter parts had.. The also had access through govermnet grants to get a free college education. I wen through on a college grant and there were only a hand full of African Americans in class. Many of the AAs who chose not to go to college are now parents so their children follow their. lead In a nutshell it lazyness. and it was their choice. I have no sympathy for them. Study Completed

If you make it tantalizing to not work, as opposed to breaking a sweat, why work. If the government makes it harder and harder for businesses to expand by regulating (on purpose) then there are fewer jobs and businesses have the pick of the litter, so to speak, when hiring. Get rid of the Dept of Ed, get rid of the unions, get rid of the regulations, get rid of anyone who supports any of this.

It was not the first law created by congress to make hireing more difficult, nor the last. Intended to correct the terrible treatment of blacks in many parts of the U.S., it became, instead, a free pass to any minority who felt mistreated (rightly or wrongly) to wreak havoc on both employers and fellow employees. Barry could cut unemployment in half tomorrow if he had ICE enforce immigration laws and remove the 8 million illegals (2010 Census) that are currently employed in America. Oh that’s right these are jobs nobody in America is willing to do like farm work, gardeners, and maids, etc. (less than 4% of the jobs taken by illegals). Just for the record illegals come in all nationalities like Barry’s relatives. What the Dumbocrats and Repugnican’ts don’t want you to know is that the vast majority of jobs taken by illegals are low to moderate skilled manufacturing jobs, construction work including electricians, carpentry and brick/block laying laborers and professionals, and semi-skill laborers. The jobs traditionally taken by recent high school grads and the unskilled starting in the employment arena. The 45 year old career employee who just had his position relocated to China doesn’t want these jobs but for millions of high school grads these are the jobs that get you out of the house and on your own. No these jobs won’t afford you a company BMW or a six figure income and yes you have to actually do work, but they are the jobs most of America built a career from just a few administrations ago. I mean go into these areas, they have bars on the windows and owners and employees in those neighborhoods can’t work or even go to and from their car or bus stop, even in broad daylight, in any form of safety. It’s more a new target for theft and robbery than an “oppertunity” for actual employment. Also, what is it…something like 40% high school drop out rate? Plus, have to say atleast where I live, even if you want to go to one of these neighborhoods to check out a business or take a wrong turn and end up there…you are not wanted or welcome to be there.

I work on the south side of Chicago and the group of people who live there have created a “paradise” much like every Indian reservation I have ever seen before gambling came to them. They are poor, with an epidemic of crime and broken families just the way Democrats wanted them since the days before the civil war. Democrats and liberals want to “do all they can” for “these people” so that they can be loved and re-elected. But if you look pass the words “Great Society” to what really has happened to these wonderful people– they made a deal with the devil–they gave up the prosperity of their posterity of the promises of the American Dream for generations of democratic votes. Only the many churches in this area tie the loose ends of shattered culture together for these people that have been destroyed by democratic policies for over 150 years.

The fact that after 30-40 years of Affirmative Action and rule of Democrats in major cities with black population resulted in this condition – that only government jobs reserved by quotas can improve lives of blacks – shows that those programs and policies of Democratic party does not work.

I said “I was talking with a black lady and didn’t get her name.” The person on the phone (I could tell was pissed) “A BLACK lady? She asked. What makes you think it was a black lady?”
Without hesitation I said, “BY THE WAY SHE TALKS!”

Posted on September 5, 2011 at 12:01pmThey had an article in the paper about the disproportionate loss and fall of incomes in the middle-class black community, and the woman who wrote the article (who was black) said it was because they hold a disproportionate amount of the governments jobs. When you hold jobs based on race and demography and not on any other basis, then when those jobs are cut, your “group” suffers more as well.

When the ***** is a protected class, who only has to sigh to get the government to jump on the backs of businesses that don’t treat them the way they think they should be treated (for example asking them to work). They come to the job application process with a potential lawsuit bomb in their pockets. A lawsuit that may be the bigges pile of nonsense ever, but that the employer will have to spend thousands defending. If the employer gets an activist judge on the case chances are he will lose thousands more. So, given these facts WHAT EMPLOYER IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would hire a *****, if there was a choice…

Knew in one factory, where if they read the company book, would know the “holidays” of Presidents Day and MLK, were alternated every other year….but they staged a walk out and cried “racism”, because that happened to be the year of Presidents Day being off….and paid to all I might add….but still had to make a stink about it. “Race” wasn’t the issue…you just can’t give paid holidays for everything, and every group, for everything and expect to have jobs at all.

First the deliberate downgrade of the family structure. Meaning black men impregnating girls and not sticking around to be the father of that child. There are more Black children living in single parent families with little adult supervision
There are the saggy pants

The CBC and other race baiters like Jesse Jackson and AL Sharpton ALWAYS look outside for the reason for these numbers and never look at why Black youth might be making themselves un-hireable.

They do not want to work as long as the Government keeps them nice and comfortable and pays their bills. The communities are run down because they do not own the, the Government does. Why would they take care of something when they have no investment into it. Its not costing them anything.

They are tearing down some of the worst projects and giving them (The residents) sect 8 vouchers in better neighborhoods. In this one particular case it was a very nice middle-class black area, where these people worked hard to get out of that (project) environment…and here they are with this influx, watching their entire neighborhood go to heck. Crime going through the roof, boom boxes blaring to all hours of the morning, gangs and drugs,and they are angry and sick and feeling like they have to flee from their own people. I’d be called “racist” for noticing..they’re traitors and Uncle Toms for not wanting to live like that either. These are people who worked and invested in their homes and community and it matters to them….just to see it be destroyed right before their eyes. It‘s like a cancer that spreads and what’s left isn’t good. Many are wondering, do we flee, or stand and say heck no?

It could easily be made to work for a profit for someone who didn’t have to worry about their business being robbed or ransacked on a daily basis.

I won’t say what city I live in, but I will tell you we have about 800,000 people, are inside the Bible Belt and we have an outrageous crime rate, I am talking about homicide,rape, pedophilia,infant and child deaths,meth manufacturing, robbery and assaults, two or three murders per night, and it is almost all in our black community on the north side of town, there are almost no remaining businesses there now, to entice ANYONE to open ANY kind of business at all, just something, as long as it is a business, the city fully re-imburses the business owner for the initial cost, but the area is so dangerous they still can’t get anyone to open businesses, every time someone does they fail because of the robbery,violence and theft. A while back, a man was shot to death outside a chicken fast food place more than 40 people saw it happen, no one called an ambulance or the police, and people stepped over the mans body to get their fried chicken, when the police did get to the scene, not one person would gve them any discription or information, black people killing other black people, existing in their little self imposed getto hell rather than talk to the police, when it is more important to not snitch to the cops than to save their own kids lives, how can you be too sympathetic about people whose values and priorities are that screwed up? How can you expect to be considered for employment? Would they cover for another worker who was stealing from the compan
