Stunning Video: Canadian Police Open Fire on Runaway Cow

Canadian Cops Shoot and Kill Runaway Cow

I grew up in the farm country of Wisconsin and have seen my fair share of animals having to be put down with a gun in order to spare them pain (I’ve even had to do it myself). But I have to say, I’ve never seen anything quite like this. Warning, what you are about to witness may be disturbing.

Police officers in Gatineau, Quebec tried on Thursday to corral two runaway cows that had escaped on the way to slaughter. “Tried” is the key word. See, they weren’t able to capture the cows. After determining the animals were a danger to local residents and officers (they were charging and acting erratically), the police open fired on one of the cows about 10 times.

The incident was captured on video by some local residents who go from chuckles to disbelief in a matter of seconds:

By the way, police reportedly got permission from the animals’ owner before shooting and killing the animals.

Poor cow. You can’t take a animal down like that with a hand gun! Use a high powered rifle or something big enough that it won’t suffer such a terrible death!

      UNION THUGS AT IT AGAIN

These Union Thugs in uniform acted the same way in Madison, Wisconsin when they sided with the Teacher’s Thug Union and opened up the doors to the State House. The police and teacher thugs cause over $7Million in vandalism to the State House. The police even turned on TEA protesters who had permits to protest but were beaten by the police. America’s police now take an oath to the Union to protect the Union.

At least, shoot it in the head. If they’d walk calmly, they could have probably walked right up to it.

I could have killed that cow with one shot from a .22cb, MARKGL. If you own ANY firearms, please sell them to someone who knws how to handle them, or turn them in to your local sherriff’s office. Like these Keystone Kops, you make the mistake of thinking that volume of lead is more important than placement.

Poor cow. I guess it thought the grass was greener… A rifle bullet between the eyes is a humane way to kill a cow for butchering. I hope the cops acted strictly out of public safety and not out of ignorance because with their Glocks, they surely made a mess and contributed to the suffering of the poor cow that was apparently guilty only of wanting to see what was on the other side of the fence. I hope they butchered it and by law, the meat belongs to the farmer.

Don‘t get me wrong I’m no PETA nut but they could have gotten that steer (not a cow ,looked to be a denutted bull) without killing it. If they did need to kill it they could have done it quicker and more humanely with a rifle and one shot to the head but considering Canada’s restrictive gun laws ,by the time a farmer ( for instance) went through the necessary steps involved to get his own gun and permission to use it ,if at all , the steer would have died of old age.

If you notice the background in the video, it is brush and trees. Also the road looks like it is a two lane rural road. Not too many people around. It looks like the police were taking target practice on the cow. Looks like the only danger was the police. We have cows and calves get out of their pastures here all the time and I have never heard of anyone getting hurt, but of course, our police don’t shoot cows.

I understand why it had to go down. These same people that are all outraged over them killing it would have been even more outraged if the cow ran over little Johnny on his bicycle on his way home from school, cows injure or kill way more people evey year that bulls do. But I agree those cops should have come up with a high power rifle or a shotgun with some slugs or 00 buck. It’s going to take a lot of rounds with a 9 or a 40 to put that thing down. Way stupid.

Those cops are a bunch of city slickers. I am quite sure that at least one of them had a shotgun in their squad car. Also from what I saw the cow doing, could they not herd the cow with their cars? I did that with deer at Rocky Mountain Arsenal during the 1980′s when there were too many trapped behind the fence surrounding the chemical plant. Also could they not find any farmers or ranchers or at least someone that had experience? I do understand that the cow was going to be slaughtered, but why handguns? Idiots!

The French Cops in Quebec are really messed up. I remember I was driving on a Highway in La Belle Province (Quebec Province) I had California Plates and was speeding at 100 mph ( I admit It) so the Provincial Police is behind me flashing with sirens. I pull over and the cop goes on the loud speaker to order me to get out of the car and put my wallet on the hood and keep my hands up. Then he gets out with his gun drawn pointing it at me. Once the situation cooled down he asked me why I was going 100. I said all the signs said 100 and I was just trying to stay with the speed limit. The signs are in Kph posted at 100kph= approx 62 mph. He didn’t find it funny and gave me a citation for $350.00. The point is that those cops in Quebec never see any action and hardly ever get a chance to draw a fire-arm. So any opportunity they get that is perceived as a threat they pull it with glee. I am sure that was the most action he had all month. Very different in Ontario Province. The OPP is very polite and helpful. Two different worlds.

That’s what you get when you have idots with guns trying to do something they know nothing about. I grew up on a farm with both beef and dairy cows. No wonder they could catch it, the cars and sirens prevented that. What a bunch of morons. That steer probably posed no threat to anyone. For the most part, they are afraid of humans, unless you are the guy that’s feeding it. We had two bulls that we could walk up to pet, and feed out of our hands. Beef cows are generally nonaggressive. It is rare to have one act aggressively unless provoked or cornered. Morons.

Probably because they didnt have the needed equipment or training to safely capture the animals. The owner gave the go ahead because the cost of the police intervention was going to quickly exceed the value of the animal. As for why it took so many shots, unless the police officer was a trained hunter he would not know how to down a large animal with a low velocity weapon. Charging them with animal cruelty for responding to an emergency animal control situation would be like charging the EMT’s with murder if the patient died on the way to the hospital.
