GOP presidential candidate Jon Huntsman said Friday a new online ad posted by apparent Ron Paul supporters painting him as a “Manchurian candidate” is “stupid” and out of line.
The ad, posted to YouTube by “NHLiberty4Paul,” includes video footage of Huntsman with his daughters – he adopted two girls from China and India — and wonders, “China Jon’s daughters: even adopted?”
Huntsman served as the U.S. ambassador to China under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2011, when he resigned from his post to explore a Republican bid for president.
The ad features clips of Huntsman speaking Chinese and says, “The Manchurian candidate. What’s he hiding?”
“American values? Or Chinese?” it asks. The video ends with the words, “Vote Ron Paul.”
Asked about the video during a campaign stop in New Hampshire Friday, Huntsman said, “First of all, it’s just stupid.”
“If someone wants to poke fun at me, that’s OK,” Huntsman said, according to the Associated Press. “What I object to is bringing forward pictures and videos of my adopted daughters, and suggesting there is some sinister motive there.”
He said his daughter Gracie, now 12, was abandoned in China when she was two months old and left in a vegetable market.
“She was picked up by the police and sent to an orphanage. No future, nothing to look forward to. Now she’s in my family,” Huntsman said. His daughter Asha, 6, was left to die by the side of a road in India the day she was born.
Paul’s campaign told the Boston Globe it has no connection to the video and does not know who made it.
“We had nothing to do with it and we think it’s completely distasteful,” Paul spokeswoman Kate Schackai told the Globe. “Nobody who actually supports Dr. Paul’s principles would put together something like that.”
Huntsman has put his campaign efforts into New Hampshire, opting to skip Tuesday’s Iowa caucuses in favor of shoring up a base in the Granite State, whose first-in-the-nation primary will be held Tuesday. Huntsman’s campaign has posted several ads attacking Paul, calling him unelectable.
Despite his efforts, the latest poll released Friday from Suffolk University has Huntsman in fifth place at 8 percent among likely Republican primary voters, ahead only of Rick Perry, The Hill reported. Iowa caucus winner Mitt Romney leads at 40 percent, followed by Paul in second place at 17 percent and Rick Santorum at 11 percent. Newt Gingrich is fourth at 9 percent.

Posted on January 6, 2012 at 2:13pmI do not like Huntsman as a presidential candidate, but that is a stupid ad, I’m starting to see that a lot of the Paul followers are way out there. I wrote on a Paul blog that I didn’t think I could vote for Ron and within 20 seconds I had around 28 replys hoping I would Die, be killed by the made up jihadist, that I was uneducated and it went on and on, now those are pretty rabid replies to a non-combative statement I made.

Are you not for the constitution? Ron Paul is. Hes been fighting for it for 30 years and people like you keep electing the status quo. tell me, what difference will any of the other candidates make? how will they improve this country?

Posted on January 6, 2012 at 2:57pm@The_Revolution — I believe him, because I’ve gotten the same response many times. You tell a Ron Paul supporter you like his fiscal policy but not his foreign policy (which is the sole reason Paul doesn’t have much of a chance), and I’ve gotten HUNDREDS of vicious responses. I said it in 2008 — Ron Paul will NEVER win the presidency, because people now equate the loony words and acts of his followers (not all of them) with Ron Paul, and it makes him seem like less of a serious candidate. Put it this way — I’d probably be giving Ron Paul the time of day right now if his cult member fanatical followers acted like Romney fans or Perry fans, etc. But nooooo… They act just like Obama fans. Criticize Obama, and they call you a racist redneck who hates minorities and poor people. Criticize Paul and they call you phony conservative who hates the Constitution, hates freedom and loves war. It’s so goofy they destroy any chance Paul ever had before he really gets going. And mark my words — that will be his legacy as a presidential candidate. Too bad, really. The man should be able to win or lose on his own merits, not the wackiness of his overzealous fans.

Anyone that follows and clings on Glenn Beck’s opinion, as if it were the word of God and Israel, is a hynpotized religious-bigot following a false prophet. Ron Paul sparks an enthusiasm and energy in people that no one else can. theres just no one out there that i see that will change a thing and when you see this status quo behavior year after year you get excited when finally there is a man standing up and finally saying enough. i use to just blindly follow whatever the media put out there and believed the hype and voted for mccain last time but then i heard about and looked into ron paul and actually did it with an open mind and he has completly changed my political views. unfortunately some peoples bad attitudes still exists after hearing his message and act like fools to people who dont agree

Here is Ron Paul’s foreign policy.
http://www.fff.org/comment/AdamsPolicy.asp
“Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.
But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.
She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.
She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.
She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example.
She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom.
The fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force….
She might become the dictatress of the world. She would be no longer the ruler of her own spirit….
[America's] glory is not dominion, but liberty. Her march is the march of the mind. She has a spear and a shield: but the motto upon her shield is, Freedom, Independence, Peace. This has been her Declaration: this has been, as far as her necessary intercourse with the rest of mankind would permit, her practice.”

Posted on January 6, 2012 at 3:41pmWhy DR. Ron Paul is our best bet to beat Obama (more so than Romney)
We are ALWAYS told that elections are determined by the “independents and moderate”.. Well guess who wins those voters?
CNN did exit polling in Iowa and found the following (google cnn exit polls Iowa for more info)
• Ron Paul won the Independent vote by more than 2:1 (43% to 19%) over Romney
• Ron Paul won the Moderate vote by (40% to 35%) over Romney
• Ron Paul won the first time voters by (33% to 17%) over Romney
• For voters who want a “True Conservative” (37% to 1%) over Romney
• Paul and Romney tied (26% each) for the urban vote – typically strong democratic vote.
Dont let the Media fool you that Romney is the only one who can beat Obama by “winning the Middle”

I don’t go around in Ron Paul clothes with Ron Paul stickers pasted all over my truck preaching Ron Paul messages to everyone I come across. Who is out there fighting to have insanity like this stopped?
4th amendment…what 4th amendment?
http://www.conservativeactionalerts.com/2012/01/dhs-officers-armed-with-semiautomatics-set-up-unannounced-id-checkpoint/
Residents of Leesburg, Florida were shocked to see their local Social Security office turned into a random Homeland Security checkpoint Tuesday morning, as DHS officers armed with semiautomatic rifles and accompanied by sniffer dogs checked identifications of locals.
“With their blue and white SUVs circled around the Main Street office, at least one official was posted on the door with a semiautomatic rifle, randomly checking identifications. And other officers, some with K-9s, sifted through the building,” reports the Daily Commercial.

Where is Romney, Santorum, Huntsman, Newt and Perry? All I hear are crickets.
The only one willing to condemn this kind of tyranny is Ron Paul.
Would you vote for someone who refuses to condemn such madness?

Posted on January 6, 2012 at 1:45pmShame on these supporters taking digs at the man’s family. I support Ron Paul, but sometimes his fervent followers just go too far. This ad is in terrible taste and does NOT reflect how most of us feel about Santorum (I think he’s been perfectly open about wanting large government and authorities controlling your behavior in your personal life; he’d be the worst Manchurian candidate ever).
At the same time, I wonder how Santorum’s daughter feels when her father is discussing with a national audience how she was unloved and left in a vegetable market, or the other was “left to die on the side of a road.” The people I know who were adopted often already have a lot of issues reconciling their birth parents without having to have the world know their issues or their father candidly speak about such crushing private information.
I feel he’s exploiting his children to an extent, but I guess every politician does it. Still don‘t think it’s right.

Travis Foster- this is what i have come up with….glenn beck says ron paul is “purposing” the sustainable defense task force, speaking of this task force as in future tense, as in when (not if) Ron Paul is POTUS. when the truth is this task force has already taken place and should be spoken about in past tense. why does beck speck this way? so his viewers will not vote for Dr.Paul.
this task force took place in 2010 and the final report came out on June 11, 2010. beck failed to say this and this is well…
The Sustainable Defense Task Force was formed in response to
a request from Representative Barney Frank (D-MA), working
in cooperation with Representative Walter B. Jones (R-NC),
Representative Ron Paul (R-TX), and Senator Ron Wyden
(D-OR), to explore possible defense budget contributions to
deficit reduction efforts that would not compromise the essential
security of the United States.
and…
A sub-committee of
the Task Force reviewed the final draft before publication.
It should not be assumed that all Task Force members endorse
all items and sections of the report.
Turns out its not just Barney Frank and Ron Paul involved, it is was also Rep. Walter B. Jones and Senator Ron Wyden. Question Beck, are Mr. Jones and Mr.Wyden also really bad people? or just Mr.Frank and Mr.Paul?

But your probably watch and read and believe everything in the main stream media without even bothering to fact check. Sadly this is the case for most Americans. The real problem I believe the Ron Paul Campaign is facing is that most voters dont educate themselves on who they are voting for. Granted its because most of us are to busy to actually do the research. Lastly a person who just calls people names and insults anyone with a different opinion is neither a true christian nor a true American! So do some soul searching friend. Read the bible. Then do some research and you’ll see the light. …if you don’t… well we’ll just end up with another Socialist President… and this country will be destroyed by Obama Care.

And also, that ‘ad’ was great. Huntsman is a double speaking tool that himself put out ADS about Ron and the Twilight Zone, so he ought to quit his crying. Fact is, Ron Paul is a much nicer human being than he is and wouldn’t put out such an AD himself while Huntsman would and did.

Posted on January 6, 2012 at 3:49pm@Just & Uis: I tend to agree with both of you, and appreciate such civil discourse. I would point out a convergence in the peace and nonintervention ideas, namely our southern border with Mexico. Like you, Uis, I can see a tremendous threat in radical Islam, and like you, Just, I agree with a noninterventionist defense policy. We need our boys back in America and ready to repel attacks from the south. Hezbollah has camps in Chave’s Venezuala who have connections to the Mexican cartels. Remember we have been covertly supplying at least one of those cartels with arms via Fast & Furious. Drugs and terrorists in Afghanistan, drugs and terrorists in Mexico. They are closing in as we waste men and money in support of our own demise.
Our current administration’s course (aided by infighting like we do here) is to pit us against one another and make us distrustful of Americans while turning a blind eye from very real threats to our true national security here in America. When SPTs and govbots stir the pot of dissent their goal is to turn those who should be allied in defense of liberty into enemies. Classic divide and conquer strategy, and it’s being masterfully orchestrated.

Report Post »So in your view, anyone that works for the administration, or even is seen with Obama disqualifies them? How narrow minded are you?

“Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans only as members of groups and never as individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike; as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called “diversity” actually perpetuate racism. Their intense focus on race is inherently racist, because it views individuals only as members of racial groups.
Conservatives and libertarians should fight back and challenge the myth that collectivist liberals care more about racism. Modern liberalism, however, well-intentioned, is a byproduct of the same collectivist thinking that characterizes racism. The continued insistence on group thinking only inflames racial tensions.
The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims….
This leads to a sense of individual responsibility and personal pride, making skin color irrelevant. Rather than looking to government to correct what is essentially a sin of the heart, we should understand that reducing racism requires a shift from group thinking to an emphasis on individualism.”

“After 200 years, the constitutional protection of the right of the individual to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is virtually gone. Today’s current terminology describing rights reflects this sad change. It is commonplace for politicians and those desiring special privileges to refer to: black rights, Hispanic rights, handicap rights, employee rights, student rights, minority rights, women’s rights, gay rights, children’s rights, student rights, Asian-American rights, Jewish rights, AIDS victims’ rights, poverty rights, homeless rights, etc. Unless all the terms are dropped & we recognize that only an individual has rights, the solution to the mess in which we find ourselves will not be found. The longer we lack of definition of rights, the worse the economic and social problems will be.”

Posted on January 6, 2012 at 1:19pmHe is so jealous of Romney he can’t even see straight. He is in this race to hurt Romney, nothing more. He has hated Romney since Romney got the Olympics job. Little Jonny wanted it. He thought if he just sat there smirking prettily, it would be bestowed on him, just like everything else in his life has been bestowed on him. When he didn’t get it, he started stomping his feet and pouting.
Despite both being Mormon, Huntsman and Romney are very different. Romney got advanced degrees in business and law from Harvard. After Huntsman dropped out of high school, his daddy got him into Wharton. I think he graduated. Not sure. But I don‘t think it’s a coincidence that there is now a building bearing Daddy’s name at Wharton. Romney succeeded wildly in business on his own merits. Huntsman‘s only business experience is in Daddy’s company. Romney has been faithful to his religion his whole life. Jonny, on the other hand, looks down on the faithful Mormons who voted him into office as stupid, parochial rubes. He can’t distance himself fast enough. Romney’s kids always behave in a classy manner. Huntsman’s . . . . well. Huntsman has ridden his daddy’s coattails his entire life. Yet, for some reason, he considers himself smarter and better than almost everyone.
