I researched this and although the Constitution was written behind closed doors, it was argued publicly in the newspapers prior to voting on ratification of the Constitution.. Interesting that Colin Powell would try to push the concept of a closed government. I used to like this man’s politics. Not so sure anymore.

Oh yes, that pesky Fox News press tells We The People way too much. It was so much better for those pesky Progressives when We The People were oblivious to the pesky things they were up to. Watched “The Rise of the Third Reich” last night on the History Channel and it is scary how those pesky Nazi’s were doing the same things back then that those pesky Progressives are doing now. We pesky, enlightened people are getting in their way.

So the founders didn’t want a free press, they wanted authoritarian leaders to rule in darkness. If that’s the case, they would love today’s backroom special interest deals. Somehow I don’t believe this anymore than I believe Rep. John Lewis’ claim that the phrase from the Declaration of Independence, “pursuit of happiness”, means there is a constitutional requirement for Obamacare.
Darkness and ignorance walk hand in hand on the path to tyranny.

Why invoke the Founding Fathers‘ quiet construction of the Constitution that was at the time of the birth of our Nation unless you’re seeking a birth or an 0bama rebirth as in, fundamental transformation? The government has proven itself as untrustworthy. The same government Mr Powell, that you were a participant of, that provided you with ‘evidence’ of WMDs and YOU later claimed was misled into presenting to the UN.

Transparency Mr Powell. We request transparency. We will not have the Constitution rewritten behind closed doors. No rebirth is required.

Keep the public in the dark. Now there’s a novel plan. That must be a new twist to transparency in government. Kinda like Obama’s birth certificate, college records and passport records, they are so transparent that you can’t even see them.

I have also been sadly disappointed with Mr. Powell. I grew up (an Army brat) seeing his face on walls everywhere. He and his lovely wife have always been so polished and elegant. But, I’ve grown up since then. And the progressive is shinning through. I‘m glad he didn’t run for president when I was younger and more naive.

Hi statement started out with him saying that “my people all over country” in reference to the entire population of the country. I got news for him, I never gave him permission to say that I was one of “his people”. Colin lost his mind 8 years ago. He has become an embarrassment to conservatives who actually thought he was a ‘man of freedom’. Turns out he is an elitist – frustrated that his opinion is first questioned and secondly proved wrong. This guy got so much positive press that he actually thinks he’s got wisdom and insight beyond what we peons can comprehend. Fortunately – conservatives have tuned him out and the liberal media still believes that his opinion matters to independents.

He’s right. The founding fathers had absolutely terrible and awful arguments and deep disagreements when they were discussing the constitution, etc, etc, etc. And they were very careful to not let anyone outside know this, specifically so that the people would not lose faith in them.

Unfortunately, today too many politicians are anti-American and can’t be trusted to protect the people.
