Support Us or Else: Wisconsin Unions Bully Local Businesses With Ultimatum

Having lost the battle over collective bargaining rights in the capital, the Wisconsin unionistas are now taking their fight to local businesses.

Support Us or Else: Wisconsin Unions Bully Local Businesses With Ultimatum

Seven union heads have sent the below letter to Marshall & Ilsley Corporation, a financial services firm. In the letter, the union members give the president of the company an ultimatum: publicly denounce Gov. Scott Walker’s anti-collective bargaining law, or face union boycott.

March 10, 2011
Mr. Tom Ellis, President
Marshall & Ilsley Corporation
770 N. Water Street
Milwaukee, WI 53202
SENT VIA FASCIMILE AND REGULAR MAIL
Dear Mr. Ellis:

As you undoubtedly know, Governor Walker recently proposed a “budget adjustment bill” to eviscerate public employees’ right to collectively bargain in Wisconsin…

As you also know, Scott Walker did not campaign on this issue when he ran for office. If he had, we are confident that you would not be listed among his largest contributors. As such, we are contacting you now to request your support.

The undersigned groups would like your company to publicly oppose Governor Walker’s efforts to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for public employees in Wisconsin. While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not respond to this request by that date, we will assume that you stand with Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities.

In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining, please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the goods and services provided by your company. However, if you join us, we will do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table.

Wisconsin’s public employee unions serve to protect and promote equality and fairness in the workplace. We hope you will stand with us and publicly share that ideal.

In the event you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact the
Director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, Jim Palmer, at 608.273.3840.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

James L. Palmer, Executive Director
Wisconsin Professional Police Association
Mahlon Mitchell,President
Professional Professional Fire Fighters
Jim Conway, President
International Association of Fire Fighters Local 311
John Matthews, Execuctive Director
Madison Teachers, Inc.
Keith Patt, Executive Director
Green Bay Education Association
Bob Richardson, President
Dane County Deputy Sheriffs Association
Dan Frei, Prersident
Madison Professional Police Officers Association

The primary signatory of the letter is James L. Palmer, the executive director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association:

Support Us or Else: Wisconsin Unions Bully Local Businesses With Ultimatum

The unions have also taken aim at a chief financial backer of Gov. Walker, M&I bank.

From The Nation:

M&I Bank is the largest bank in Wisconsin, and was the recipient of $1.7 billion in TARP bailout money from the federal government. The bundled contributions from M&I executives were Walker’s second largest source of campaign funds. According  to records provided by the Sunlight Foundation, executives at M&I Bank gave $46,308 to Walker’s campaign. And now, a group of local unions in Wisconsin have threatened to pull their money from M&I Bank unless it denounces Scott Walker’s attack on workers’ rights.

Threatening people is against the law as far as I know and these thugs need to have charges filed. I was in the union for 22 years and was also an officer in my local but I cannot back criminal actions, including the mobbing and destruction of the WI capital.

      Bob,
Let them try to bust into a private business like they did at the capital. Private business will not wait for (union) police to come if trouble breaks out. No, private business will shoot first to protect life and property against raiding trespassing thugs. I have before and will ever after.
Let them try to bust into a private business like they did at the capital.

They sound like little boys throwing a temper tantrum. Union bosses, go back under your rock and let the adults fix this country. You once served this country well but now you are nothing more than a disgrace. You are small and weak in comparison to the average real working person in this country. Go on strike, I dare you. There are more unemployed workers in this country that you have on your entire rolls. You will make millions happy if you strike.

As a former teacher who quit teaching because I would not join the union, I have watched our children become the recipients of what unions are good for—-nothing! Our children today score terribly on the SOL’s, they will have great difficulty getting into college in the future as the skills needed to do that are not being taught by unionized teachers. Our local paper prints in the paper how our students are doing in our local school district—it is a crime to see how poorly the kids do on these! The best thing G. W. Bush ever did as there is now a record of how unions have destroyed our once great education system!

That is absolutely right. Never surrender, never falter. Never bow to bullies. Unions are made up of the losers we all grew up with. They couldn’t make it without dad threatening the kids on the block to be nice to little block head.
The mask is off. Keep it up a little longer so more people can witness your inept nature.

#What about the people with no power who HAVE to put up with unions? Like Glenn and Sean and Rush. Just because they HAVE to be Union Members does not mean they should take their salaries elsewhere does it? Isn’t the better good served that they stay on the air instead of doing what is right?

I live in Wi and I very well intend too when it is associated with the Unions involved in this. The big problem is it is primarily public unions and not private sector unions that are the problem. Public unions don’t produce anything. It becomes a henky grey area, but where I know there is a direct connection between the two I will definitely choose to go else where. Funny thing is I am a gov employee, that is in a public sector union.

This has been going on since the early 70′s and the only way to get promoted was to become corrupt yourself. The supervisors are in control of law enforcement departments and the honest officers are ridiculed constantly. Becoming an officer used to be a calling and instead has turned into a collection of goons and thugs. Good officers don’t stand a chance. If you intend to cling to morals, you won’t fit into their mold. Times have changed and the public is being deceived.

I hear violins playing now.. really tiny ones. Sorry unions we know what a threat is when it’s given. A nice safe feeling legal niche of flowery words does not hide the deadly intent behind your meanings. That is the point of what your doing. There will be death threats too. all faxed or dropped off. Even though police and sheriffs are held to very high standards (and they must be citizens) and they are trained to handle restricted firearms and paramilitary gear, there is no reason they should have an easier time having a career with good benefits than an illegal immigrant chicken processor or a teenage hamburger cook. They are making us BROKE and we should cancel All Contracts with them!

Its easy the banks and business can stand with the dictator and patriots can decide that to support them.

      1. These union heads should LEGALLY be held responsible for any and all violence, vandalism, injury, police costs, security costs, repair work, etc. The governor should make a public statement thereby going on the record.

      2. These union heads should be arrested and charged with whatever they can if any of the above happens.

      3. The police should set up a line outside the state houses and NOT allow any demonstrators inside.

      4. The unions should be made to get a permit to demonstrate outside only.

I’ve got news for the unions. I own a business and where I have a choice, I will not be using union labor, ever. In addition, I when I have a choice I will choose non union products over union products. Unions = communism and the recent display of thuggary in Wisconsin was the last straw. The unions destroyed a once great US auto industry and I will do everything I can to not support union labor both in business and in my personal finances.

One good example is Fed-ex over UPS. I will not ship UPS and I will demand that my suppliers not ship to me via UPS. Companies where the senior management invites unions in are lazy and thus can’t provide a competitive product. Sorry unions, you lose. How do like them apples? Hmmm?

Interesting notion. Either stand with someone who used peaceful democracy or stand with us or else. Why would anyone stand with bullies. Common Sense tells us that crooks and cronies use force. This would be a great opportunity to call them on their challenge. The governor should say that if they stand with him he will put out the word so people would still buy there products and show these union thugs we don’t need their threats. If I was a Wisconsian I would purchase there products to counter effect their challenge. Put the bad unions out of business.

This is just part of the inevitable slog to riots and killings. this is the same band of jolly radicals that have mailed the death threats. Yes. they will kill them all and their families too. Think about that. a real freedom loving union worker invades your home and kills your kids because he and his kind could not rally enough votes to beat you at the statehouse. It’s all about freedom when they slaughter an infant for the cause. These people want their slaves to shut up and get back to work in the fields so they can live it up. Their need for higher pay and benefits will never be satiated. What is their final total? How much do they demand? I want a price. Tell me how much I owe them! They want class warfare and they can have it. I’m sorry but is the responsibility of the union member to reign in their representatives. i’m tired of the attitude of my employees in the public sector. Sooner or later we will find that they will demand first dibs on our organs for transplants. Their is no shame to their never satiated hunger for our money and property. Our pay is taxed so much that we can not afford healthcare that they demand for free and give free to illegals. this is not just class war it’s class rape. They want us to just lay there and take it because we owe it to them. When will it ever be enough for these people?

Better yet, put our money in an M&I Bank. Ironically, I just opened an account with M&I in anticipation of my move to another state. I will be writing my own letter telling them it will stay there unless they buckle to the union demands. I will then write letters to everyone I know and the newspaper and tell them what I am doing and why and suggest they do the same.

Being bullied is no way to enjoy liberty or to set policy. Please note that the union letter did not include the option for the bank to remain silent on the matter – it was “do it or else.” Also note that it was back in the 60′s when Saul Alinsky used the same thug tactics against banks to force them to start making loans to unqualified people (Architects of Ruin by Peter Schweizer). Therein lay the beginnings of the current economic catastrophe because shortly thereafter such loans became a legal requirement under Pres. Lyndon Baines Johnson. (You think Carter was bad? Look up LBJ!)

Wrong. Free market would be individuals deciding on their own not to frequent businesses that don’t come out in support of unions.

Union bosses telling their membership that they will boycott these businesses or they‘ll be dealt with isn’t free market.

This just underscores how unions have no business in the public sector. We as citizens cannot trust our police and firemen or our kids to unionized teachers because of their higher allegiance to a union. Can you imagine what could happen to Governor Walker, Republican Senators and Assemblymen’s children if they are in public schools. They could be in danger and in the least could be treated unfairly. Unions in the public sector have got to be done away with in all states and all jobs.

Americans, as shown in various polls, overwhelmingly support the union members over the Koch Party. Where did that come from and how is that related to this story? To answer your bigoted, hate filled venomous statement:

A church that has a university that is willing to sacrifice a national championship in basketball and all the money and recruiting positives that come with that in order to teach a young man that although much of the rest of the world thinks that premarital sex is no big deal, it is a very serious offense in the eyes of Heavenly Father and breaking the honor code he agreed to has consequences.

Union led boycotts have never accomplished anything in the past and will not accomplish anything now! Their problem is that a majority of their membership are reluctant members. I wonder how many loyal members will write out checks for their dues now that the dues are not deducted by the State? We could very well be witnessing the beginning of the decline of union power in America.

With these threats, they have done great damage to themselves and to the integrity of their professions. It makes one wonder just how low these unions will go to grab as much power as they can. Can we ever again trust a policeman to protect us if he has aligned himself with blackmailers and thugs for his own personal gain? Make no mistake, for all their protesting about doing it for the common good, it is most definitely about themselves and what they stand to gain personally that is driving them to bully others.

The companies can agree to speak out against Walker (with their fingers crossed) and people already know that they are being blackmailed so the union gains nothing. Also the taxpayer majority (including union members)will continue to turn against the heavey handedness ie violence advocated by the BIG union elitists.. Marxism does not do well when people still have the ability to choose. Union members themselves are the achilles heel of the BIG union agenda. Many union members quietly oppose the Big union funding of candidates that are pro abortion and anti traditional marriage. The word is starting to get out and the public service unions will soon be de-clawed. The government workers in general will find themselves better off.

By NY state’s Article 35 of the NYS Penal Law that would give you the legal right to “stop” them. There are three things necessary time, distance and awareness. Then we’re gonna BUST ALL Public Unions, coast to coast, where they exist. You cannot collectively bargain against the taxpayer, it is an anti-trust violation. Go look up what your hero FDR said about the subject – he was against them! Private unions are a different matter all together. If Private unions collectively bargain higher wages and benefits and the company goes bankrupt, then they lose their jobs. However, if you do that at the public level, you bankrupt govenments. I ask you to be honest with yourself, then look at the facts, are you still going to support thuggary? Your side will not listen to reason, because of greed and avarice and the leadership level, and they put you ALL in a bad light. If these death threats are legitimate, and something happens to these GOP Senators, or their families – I cannot say what would happen directly, but I am betting it would not be good? Let me also ask why the communists and islamo-fascist are in your mix? You know the ones selling the Communist Manifesto on the steps of WI capitol, and the ones with the Communist Revolutionary Party t-shirts, with the Palestinian headscarfs…why are they there with you, why do you embrace our ENEMY? @The Third Archon,

“It’s union thuggery to stand up for your political beliefs? What do you call protesting abortion clinics?”

No, it’s Union thuggery to attempt to force a Democracy – which doesn’t provide for freedom and equality, nor does it recognize unalienable rights – upon our Constitutional Republic.

Public Unions are unConstitutional because our Constitution establishes a representative Republic.

The number of people protesting doesn‘t matter at all unless you’re trying to force the government to comply with the Constitution.

Individual liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which our Constitution acknowledges as unalienable rights, is another way of saying Capitalism.

We do have the unalienable right to own what we work for, whether that work is done through direct labor, or indirectly through labor stored in the form of capital (a store of labor which greatly increases productivity). And we all get to work to earn capital, so there is no meaningful distinction between employer and employee under the Constitution.

“You’re going to see general strikes soon as a result of this–the capitalists have brought this upon themselves.”

Let them strike. This will create an incredible opportunity for Capitalists to do business with those who respect their right to own their own labor and capital.

Not per se. You’re welcome to boycott til your hearts content.

However, us Capitalists will continue to participate in free trade and we‘ll benefit from each other’s productivity and be more prosperous and free than Socialists.

Of course, somewhere down the road, like Socialist countries have done in the past, you’ll look at our prosperity and then complain that we stole all the wealth from those who rejected for themselves the method by which we will have become prosperous in the first place.

It is truly amazing to see the Communionitists at work. How did we let it get this far? States across the country are going broke over the outrageous benefits and pensions of these Govt employees. They make it seem as though they will be homeless and starving because of the Wisconsin bill while in reality they will just be receiving benefits still more generous than most people. When the Berlin Wall fell, Communists must have came here and joined unions.
