Guess % of Olbermann Watchers Who Approve of Obama Performance

(AP) — Consumers are quickly making recent technology part of their news habits and are consequently spending more time following what’s going on in the world, a survey released Sunday said.

People are spending an average of 57 minutes per day getting the news from television, radio and newspapers, the same as they did a decade ago, according to the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. But they also spend an average of 13 minutes a day getting news online, making for a total amount of news time as high as any dating back to the mid-1990s, the organization said.

Roughly 33 percent of people surveyed said they went online for news the previous day, a number that goes up to 44 percent when cell phones, e-mail, social networks and podcasts are added, Pew said in the media consumption survey, which it takes every two years.

“It may be a sign of an era where news consumption will go back to the way it was,” said Andrew Kohut, director of the Pew Research Center. “The transition from old to new is beginning to take place.”

The survey found 26 percent of Americans said they read a newspaper in print the day before, compared to 38 percent in 2006. However, 17 percent of Americans said they read something on a newspaper’s website the day before, up from 9 percent two years earlier.

Guess % of Olbermann Watchers Who Approve of Obama PerformancePew’s survey also illustrated how many Americans are headed to their own corners in cable news viewing and radio listening. Eighty-four percent of people in liberal MSNBC talk show host Keith Olbermann‘s audience say they approve of President Barack Obama’s job performance, with 80 percent of Rachel Maddow’s audience saying the same thing.

At the same time, 7 percent of conservative Sean Hannity‘s Fox News Channel viewers and 9 percent of Rush Limbaugh’s listeners say Obama is doing a good job, the survey said. Three quarters of Limbaugh, Hannity and Glenn Beck’s audiences identify themselves as tea party supporters.

Forty percent of Republicans say they watch Fox News Channel regularly, compared to 18 percent a decade ago, a strong factor in the network’s popularity, Pew said.

Pew researchers interviewed 3,006 adults via cell phones or land lines between June 8 and June 28. The margin of error is 2.5 percentage points.

@Liberaless. Here are a few things Obama has done ( since u nit getting an answer.
    Fair pay act
    Veterans healthcare act
    New GI bill
    And others.
As to your dislike if the healthcare legislation. You link your rate increases to it -not true.
The current system is in crisis , all attempts to reform it prior have failed. The current bill is almost exactly what the repubs put firth in the 90′s. What would you like to see done to fix the systemic problems?

Here’s the conservative two-step plan to drop insurance rates by at least 50%:
      1. Interstate competition between insurance carriers
      2. Tort reform
It’s probably a lot more than 50%, but that’s a good starting point. This has been brought up by some of those Republicans that “don’t have a single idea on how to fix the economy”.

The healthcare rate increases are due to HCR act – simply put, the Gov‘t has decided that the definition of ’covered child’ extends another 5 years, from 21 to 26 – that coverage increase adds to costs which drive up rates. Insurance companies can no longer refuse to cover pre-existing conditions or deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions, both of which raise, not lower costs to the insurance companies.

Look at the immediate benefits this administration attributes to HCR and ask yourself which, if any, actually lower costs? In every case I can find they increase coverage, which comes at a price.

Dems argue that the savings don’t kick in for years, but when they said that they forgot that there was an election in the fall, now the Gov‘t is threatening insurance companies that are trying to properly price their coverage because ’it will hurt Democrats re-election chances this November.’

Brother I gotta ask you where you get your sources from? Do you just let the media spoon feed you?
When it comes to the good men and women who serve our country I fully support it.
BUT… you are wrong on the GI BILL. See below:

By BEN FELLER June 30, 2008 “WASHINGTON (AP) – President Bush on Monday signed legislation to pay for the war operations in Iraq and Afghanistan for the rest of his presidency and beyond, hailing the $162 billion plan as a rare product of bipartisan cooperation.” Source abcgo.news dot com
Basically The Bush Administration gave Obama some time to work on a policy for Iraq when he got into office. It’s funny that Obama adopted the same strategy The Bush Administration set up. See Below:
      Iraq
The Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) by the BUSH ADMINISTRATION was signed off under the BUSH ADMINISTRATION and Iraq Officials on Nov 16, 2008. This would start pulling all troupes out of Iraq by June 30, 2009, with about 50,000 troops remaining until the final withdrawal of all U.S. military forces by Dec. 31, 2001.
Keep in mind Obama was against the surge in 2007 however him and Biden were sure happy to take credit for the troupe withdrawal.
msnbc dot com fact check OBAMA:“Within Afghanistan, I have ordered the deployment of additional troops who — under the command of Gen. David Petraeus — are fighting to break the Taliban’s momentum. As with the surge in Iraq, these forces will be in place for a limited time to provide space for the Afghans to build their capacity and secure their own future.”
It’s funny that Obama adopted the troupe surge logic after he opposed it during his campaign.

      HEALTHCARE:
You claim I am wrong that insurance rates will go up for individuals and small businesses with < 50 employees is the fault of insurance companies in crisis. LOL
Here is the deal bro, my insurance is being raised because of unnecessary mandates the government is forcing me to have. One of these being colonoscopies. Talk about taking it from the rear. They literally are making me pay for crap like this so that everyone can get it. I'm 31, I don't need this! If I did I'd pay for it myself. Since you don't believe me read this…

      Health Insurers Plan Hikes
Rate Increases Are Blamed on Health-Care Overhaul; White House Questions Logic
September 7, 2010, by Janet Adamy
      The Wall Street Journal
      http://www.wsj.com
"Health insurers say they plan to raise premiums for some Americans as a direct result of the health overhaul in coming weeks, complicating Democrats' efforts to trumpet their signature achievement before the midterm elections.
Insurers say they plan to raise premiums on some Americans due to the health overhaul, complicating Democrats' efforts to trumpet their signature achievement before elections.

Aetna Inc., some BlueCross BlueShield plans and other smaller carriers have asked for premium increases of between 1% and 9% to pay for extra benefits required under the law, according to filings with state regulators.

These and other insurers say Congress's landmark refashioning of U.S. health coverage, which passed in March after a brutal fight, is causing them to pass on more costs to consumers than Democrats predicted.
Insurers say the law mandates free preventive care that raises premiums. A Maryland man gets a flu shot.
The rate increases largely apply to policies for individuals and small businesses and don't include people covered by a big employer or Medicare."
"After Regence mailed a letter notifying plan administrators of its intention to raise group insurance rates in Washington state, the White House contacted company officials and accused them of inaccurately justifying the increase. Kerry Barnett, executive vice president for Regence BlueShield, said the insurer is changing the letter to more precisely explain the causes of the increase."

Wall Street Journal also says 30% of Americans will be affected by the increase. Way to screw yourselves Democrats! 30% of America will remember this at the polls in November. lmao

OK, I gotta run. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions for STUPID WINDBAG.

“identify as tea party supporters” or another article descibed Beck as Palin as “Tea Party Favorites”. These backward references imply that these people are IN the tea party, but in fact they only mean the Tea Party is something that identifies with them, or that they generally agree with, but do not necessarily belong. Watch out for this doublespeak of the left who want to paint all conservatives as “teabaggers”

Has forced health care onto the undeserving american people, 3. Increased the national debit. Most people who work for a living would assume these are all bad for america, but if you precieve your job as “spreading the wealth around” then they are all good.

I was talking to my son the other day, and told him I think the next 10 to 20 years are going to be very tumultuous in this country. I am retired and have worked three jobs at a time in my life, as a musician, ran my own cabinet and furniture shop, and worked a full time job too. I see very little dedication to job and family by younger people today. They are seeing less and less of good examples of how it should be done through hard work and more of how they are entitled to it. Even if some new blood gets into congress this year and a new president in 2012, I think there is going to be trouble ahead. Younger generations want more and more with less effort on their part. I don’t condone what I predict the future holds, but I guess a little revolution can’t hurt once in a while. I pray it doesn’t come to that. I to watch a little of MSNBC and CNN, but must sometimes turn if off. MSNBC is the worst. I wish I could convince some of my friends and relatives to watch FOX once in a while, but they are brainwashed. How can something so wrong be considered right? I guess it’s like the choice of some religions. I watch Beck most days and in the beginning I thought he was far out, but now I think he is on to something. You know I remember saying years ago that the regular news (before cable) was slanted and how dare they give their opinion when they were only a new show. I will never forget having this conversation with my liberal girlfriend and she did not notice it. I was estatic to find Fox news on cable, my liberal girlfriend can’t even watch Fox News at all. I think it is how you are brought up that decides who you sway with. I must admit I find it really hard to watch MSNBC or CNN. It grates on me as I guess it does on my girlfriend watching Fox.

I agree with you my friend! America as we know it; is lost. You can put a fork in it, because we’re done! I also agree that another Civil War is in fact likely! It would be nice if we could fix America as Glenn Beck would have it, through peaceful means, but I fear that will be an unlikely outcome. The marxists will start the war and all it will only take is a small spartk in the right place and time.

Remember he is the “Fusion of Entertainment and Enlightenment” he is nothing more than an Actor to deceive as many people to buy Gold as he can. This country has always been and will always continue to thrive and progress. The best thing for Beck, Hannity, Ingraham, dick morris and the rest of the goon squad.was for Obama to win. They now have four years/probably eight to peddle their crap (books, videos, concerts, gold, etc.) and they will do this by striking you all by the fear of god. So go now by good and faithful sheepoles. Go out and paraphrase the vile that you get exposed to while listening to talk radio while driving to work in the morning. I wonder if stupid windmill and dangling bags share basement space? Stupid windmill, I notice you seem to use a lot of words for which I can find no dictionary definition, but one such word has intrigued me. Could you please explain what is “refuticate?“ Is it ”to refuticate“ or simply ”refuticate?” I tried to find it in a dictionary and online. I am quite familiar with “refute,“ and ” repudiate.” Is this some new ebonics convolution of the two of those, perhaps? Or perhaps a new conversion with which we are not yet familiar in the English speaking world? To refute is to show something wrong by evidence, proof, argument, etc. To repudiate something is to renounce that thing, such as a belief or person, or to disown, for example, “the parents became so angry, they repudiated their son.” I guess one could make a case for blending the two if the parents had first proven the son wrong and had then disowned the boy. His parents would then refuticate him, I think. I don’t have a demolibersocialcommie dictionary. Most interesting….

This is kind of a riddle. Who can make the connection, I wonder?

The book [Common Sense] aroused such depths of passion that when New Yorkers learned that printer Samuel Loudon was going to issue a critical rejoineder, concluding that Paine “unites the violence and rage of a republican with all the enthusiasm and folly of the fanatic,” forty Common Sense advocates forced their way into Loudon’s printshop, demanding to know who had written the attack. The printer claimed to not know the author’s name, and the mob responded by pushing their way into his office, seizing the fifteen hundred copies already manufactured, assembling at the common, and burning them. – Craig Nelson, Thomas Paine: Enlightenment, Revloution, and the Birth of Modern Nations, pg 94

I check out MSNBC and CNN regularly. But without a doubt Fox News has the most consistently fair and balanced approach to news in the media.

Fox News is always airing opposing viewpoints from liberal pundits and politicians. I can‘t recall the last time I’ve seen an opposing viewpoint given any air time on Olbermann’s show.

Maddow will occasionally have a Republican politician on but rarely a conservative pundit. That to me skews the reportage.

The last note being the main stream media. It’s become painfully obvious the pandering type of softball questions given to our President by them. It’s pretty shameful when the last bastion of oversight has become Pravda-like in it’s coverage.

I have yet to see Glenn Beck refuticate any of his arguments in general and in his special comments… I all ever hear from Glenn Beck is “Nobody watches your show” and other logical fallacies that do not even begin to address the underlying issues brought up by Keith.

Since Glenn Beck is allowed to have self proclaimed political rallies then Keith Olbermann just as so can be non-political in this comment.

I don’t know if you saw any of the 8/28 rally…it wasn’t political in content; the only way you can call it political would be the same way that if the POUS came out and said “we should be respectful to each other” would be a political statement. “Olberman does devote part of his show in an endless barrage of bashing Foxnews personalities.”

So? Its his show. Besides, its critique which is an important part of discussion. That is not say that Keith Olbermann’s Critique is perfect, he does fall prey to logical fallacy. The critique is important because right-wing media personalities throwing out arguments without response is dangerous because as to do so would be to represent one side of an idea which is meaningless. There must be a response, if not people can be misled.

Glenn Beck is not a journalist by way, whereas Keith Olbermann amounts to what could be considered a journalist.

Glenn Beck did devote some air time on his radio show to make fun of Keith Olbermann’s special comment and Keith Olbermann, The specific comment of which was concerning the “Ground Zero Mousque”

I don’t tune into Beck to hear him bash Olberman or Matthews etc. I don‘t tune into anyone’s show for that. Beck & his staff did something like 5,000 hours of Fact-checking in the past year…I like that.

I like the fact that he encourages his audience to check thier own facts. I like the fact that Fox tries to get people of equal stature to debate most issues.

This is something I value, I don’t ask you to, but you’ll forgive me if it is my opinion that you can criticise Foxnews & then say: well its thier show so they can do whatever they want on MSNBC but NOT on Fox that you are skirting the edges of hypocracy.

No one, including Beck is suggesting that Obama isn’t the POUS, as you correctly point out it is FACT.
However you are objecting to the CONCLUSIONS that Beck draws…not on the FACTS he presents.
Since Beck spends a great deal of time showing things in whoever he’s talking about in thier own words as much as possible, it is reasonable to say that this person said this or that is FACT.

The number of times that Beck has openly said “I hope I’m wrong” would indicate that he doesn’t always like his own CONCLUSIONS.

For what its worth I don’t think that Obama is a socialist…he’s a facist; & before your head explodes allow me to say that I’m not calling him a Nazi. Facists believe in private enterprise directed by the state…GM, Healthcare, Banks, Pay Czar, etc.

Wow, Stupid Windbag, you seem a little edgy this morning. Perhaps your comments aren’t having the desired effect here. Is there a particular fact that Glenn has given as fact you disagree with?

As far as the President being a communist and/or socialist, I think Glenn has made a pretty good case that Obama is right in line with that thinking and has put people around him who believe that line of thought.

As for the President being a Muslim, I don’t believe I have ever heard Glenn say he is a Muslim. I personally believe he is. Muslims are allowed to decieve in their war against non-believers and I believe that is why Obama can say he ie a Christian. Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan have known each other for over thirty years and the Nation of Islam and Black Liberation Theology are two sides of the same coin. He makes a big point to justify Muslim behavior and condemn Christian issues.

It isn’t Glenn or Rush that makes me believe the President is really Muslim, it is the President who makes me believe he is a Muslim.

The fact lost on many on the left is that Beck, Hannity, O’Reilly, Olbermann, Maddows, Schultz, etc. are all OPINION shows, not news reporting – and that goes double for the humor/comedy shows The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, they are comedy/opinion shows.

Glenn Beck is not the only one out there. He never claimed to be a journalist. He says he is a recovering alcoholic, and cares about his country. Maddow is MSNBC’s new puppet. I am dismayed that a few left wing people got the power of unions, acorn, etc. to help throw around their weight and call the other 68-70 of American racists, tea baggers, but have not other defense as to what is really happening in this country. Here is the secret, my name is a test of tolerance, if you make fun of my username you lost.

To imply that I only get news from MSNBC, to imply that I do not look things up, is just plain awful. When in fact I dislike what Glenn Beck stands for based on myself looking up the facts from many sources.

I am against everything Glenn Beck stands for, not Glenn Beck himself. Whereas from what is seen here, many are against Keith Olbermann the person, and do not even begin to address his arguments.

I mention that Keith Olbermann is a Journalist because he runs on the assumption of Innocent until proven guilty and other journalistic ethical standards (and has repeatedly shown to abide to those standards).

You missed the point, people think they can disprove Global Warming by stating the fact that Plants use Co2 in chemical reactions. That only proves that plants use Co2 in chemical reactions and does nothing to disprove Global Warming.

THIS is what thinking has been reduced too. Its sad.

I didn’t miss any point. Your claim is that anyone can make up or point to any facts they want to make a point, then you carry on a half-dozen “proofs” that only your points are valid, ending with the indisputable logic that you refuse to apologize for your tone.
You’re as half-baked as an Obama waffle.

      “Rachel Maddow is PERFECT.”
“…FULL CONTROL of his own show”
      “NOBODY listens to Jimmy Carter.”
      “…NO ONE cares.”
“I am against EVERYTHING Glenn Beck stands for,…”

      EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG!

Maybe a primer on the details of the English language would be beneficial to you, Mr Windmill. You could start with the assignment of meaning to words and work up from there. May I suggest Funk & Wagnalls?

I often watch MSMBC , both Obermann and Maddow and do find it strikingly mean. Come on Obermann even has his worst person of the day segment. At least O’Riely can balance with Pinheads and Patriots. Obermanns balance is to have three of his so called worst with no counter balance. Just watch and see how much negative energy they both bring out in you. I am not hear to stand up for anyone on any side but I do stand down when doses of hate are pushed into my living room. It is not healthy to have the negativity shot at you from the idiot box. By the way I went to HuffPo and signed up to blog and not 15 hours later was banned. All I did was point out racism each time I saw it. My exact post “I see racism in that statement” It is sad when you realize your news is spoonfed to you and you don’t know who the puppet master is on the website who controls the decenting side???? I know you and I can find better places to get opionion news.

I tried this weekend to watch MSNBC and was doing fine until some ditzy blonde newswoman referred to the 9/11 memorial ceremonies as something “these folks look forward to every year.” What?! Yeah, I look forward every year to commemorating the day my mother passed away after 51 days in the hospital, just like I look forward to commemorating watching my father take his last breath. What an idiot!

@Beckofile. I was banned from the HufffinandPuffington Post as well. It seems they have a policy that goes something like, you can say all the mean nasty things you want about the former President but the anointed one is off limits.

@Stupid Windmill. I used to watch Olbermann all the time when W was still in office because I wanted to hear a critical view of the President and his policies. At the time you couldn’t get that from the right wing pundits as they were little more than Republican apologists that made up excuses for politicians like W that had abondoned conservative principles. Limbaugh was the worst. But now the tables have turned and Olbermann has become little more than a cheerleader for a failing administration and their backward policies.

I am a conservative and I do watch Fox, not MSNBC.
I firmly believe that if the President doesn’t tone down his rhetoric and the rhetoric of this nation on ALL the news channels, this train is going to jump the tracks.
Whether you liked Bush or not (and there were many things I did not like) I never once saw him bash the opposition party or American citizens in opposition to his thinking like our current President. In fact, Bush repeatedly extended the olive branch in the beginning by allowing Democrats like Ted Kennedy craft educational legistlation and several other bills only to be roundly thrashed by the very people he reached out to.
If President Obama doesn’t stop campaigning and vilianizing everyone that opposes him, I fear we are “ALL going to perish as fools” (to quote a great man). America needs a real leader ro represent ALL Americans. I hope we are delivered one soon.

Alright StupidWindmill, I’ll bite. What IS it specifically that Glenn Beck stands for that you despise? That he dare put african-americans back into the history books? That he held a rally honoring MLK Jr with diverse on stage presenters that MSNBC would never dare? That he had the gall to play a video of Van Jones admitting to be a self-avowed communist? Or, do you just hate him for loving America?

One side does nothing but ridicule and make fun of and spew hate with no facts(or very few) and the other side tells us all day long how screwed we are with no solutions. How is any of this helpful in any way?
People will never be able to debate or consider both sides if both sides are illiterate and immature. This is all about rateings,it has nothing to do with journalism anymore. You have one guy that owns most of all reporting enities.Look up who financed the movie Machete and owns FOX NEWS,that should tell you something about an agenda. Why would MSNBC not care about its rateings when all they would have to do is tone down the hate and install some real journalism??Answer these questions and you might find some truth in all this.
