SPOKANE, Wash. (AP/The Blaze) — A federal law enforcement official says a man has been arrested in the case of a bomb placed at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade in Spokane in January.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told The Associated Press that federal agents arrested the man Wednesday and are preparing to search a location tied to the man.
The official requested anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case ahead of an official announcement planned later in the day.
KHQ-TV of Spokane reported that federal and local law enforcement officers had surrounded a home near Colville, Wash., about 80 miles northwest of Spokane. Two T-shirts found inside the bomb were tied to that rural area. Additional details were not immediately available.
The FBI has said nothing about possible suspects, but public opinion from the beginning focused on some of the white supremacist groups that have brought notoriety to the region in the past three decades. The area once served as headquarters for Richard Butler’s Aryan Nations, whose members were lured by the small number of minorities.
Officials for the FBI in Spokane, which is leading the search, declined to comment on the developments Wednesday.
The bomb was found inside a backpack by city workers before the parade started on Jan. 17. The parade was rerouted and the bomb was defused without incident.
Officials for the FBI described the bomb as sophisticated and designed to produce mass casualties.
The bomb was sent to an FBI lab in Quantico, Va., and the agency offered a $20,000 reward for information from the public.
The two T-shirts found with the bomb were tied to Stevens County. One of the shirts was distributed last year at the “Relay for Life” race in Colville. The second shirt — which had the words “Treasure Island Spring 2009” on the front — was from a local theater production in 2009 in the town of Chewelah.

Posted on March 10, 2011 at 3:07amIts taken many generations for us to arrive at this point in time, and it will take a few more to marginalize the supremist. Some of the things I’ve learned over the years are;
1. Those who control the education system in this country do so for self serving purposes and will skew and bend the truth in order to strengthen their agenda.
2. My first impression of George Bernard Shaw was enhanced by the liberal left and the so-called ” intellectually superior. As I read more and listened to Shaw’s spoken word, the more I became aware of his arrogant and self centered approach to humanity.
3. Any system that allows its intended purpose to be hi-jacked by wolves in sheeps clothing, needs to guard against those who boldly proclaim how morally and intellectually superior they are to the people around them.
4. The gains the citizens of this country have made in 50 years can be obliterated by any supremist
be they “patriotic” white supremists, black liberation advocates, brown migrant workers, yellow anti-communist zealots or red almost annihilated native Americans.
5. If you personally have trouble getting beyond the “ poor pitiful me” syndrome, at the very least, do not involve me in your hatred of any man.
6. Hate will destroy us quicker than any war.
7. I have never, nor will I ever, step on any man to raise my self up.
8. I am responsible for my own actions. I have neither the time nor right to be responsible for any other.
9. As a recovering alcoholic, I became exceptionally adept at blaming someone else for my problems until I grew up at the age of 30, then a man much smarter than me, advised me to look in the mirror.
10. Until one “ grows up” they will always take the easy way out and the “easy way out” is always the hardest.

Posted on March 10, 2011 at 12:44amIt may very well be the white supremacists but something tells me no.
I may be completely wrong on this…but something in my gut tells me it was the Anarchy kids here in Spokane trying to make it look like a tea party or aryan nation member did this to distract the FBI from something else they have planned.
The brotherhood had done several bombings here over the past few decades but most of them are in jail and from what the community has been told they no longer have any sort of organization. It may have been them but time will tell.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 10:48pmLooking at the comments, it seems everyone has decided it was a white Christian. I couldn’t tell anywhere in the story where it was indicated whom was responsible. They say it is an area where a white supremacist group is located, but did they say it was a white supremacist, or a christian? If they did, I didn’t catch it.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 10:39pmhow long before the suspect is tagged as a “racist tea partyer” or “someone who is upset about obamacare”. that will be the story for a week, then as soon as we find out he has more ties to the left, poof…. story gone. same thing over and over. or maybe this, hope his name isnt islamic, that will kill the story right away in the mainstream media. any more news reports on the 2 dead airmen in yemen? how are the 2 survivors? not mentioned outside of fox.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 7:37pmIt is still difficult to believe there are people who harm or kill because of race differences anymore. In all the many people I know there isn’t one who is remotely like this. I suppose there will always be that 1%.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 9:47pmAgreed BOILITDOWN. As I was growing up in the south, I was taught by my public school that everyone in the south are racist. It wasn’t until recently that I actually examined that concept, and of all of the people I know… family, friends, business acquaintances… none of them are racist. None. Not one of them would ever deny an opportunity to someone because of their race, or not sell someone a house because of their race, or not fall in love and marry someone because of their race. And I know a LOT of people. I have now learned to question everything that I was ever taught by anyone. This is a sad state of affairs.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 11:15pmHow do we know this was not intentionally planted by an Islamic or Leftist group? I mean how many people with a bomb plant intentional “clues” to who they are so they can be found out? This just sounds like a set up to me to try to frame someone that the Islamists or the left want to silence, either that or if it was not to silence someone it was to use someone from an opposite group as a scapegoat to take attention off of them in the public and the media and their plans for a while.
