SWAT Standoff After Wis. Man Shoots TV Over Palin Dance

MADISON, Wis. (The Blaze/AP) — Authorities say a 67-year-old rural Wisconsin man enraged over Bristol Palin’s “Dancing with the Stars” routine blasted his television with a shotgun, leading to an overnight standoff with a SWAT team.
A Dane County Sheriff’s detective says in court documents that Steven Cowan, of the town of Vermont, felt Palin was not a good dancer and was only on the show because of her famous mother.
They say Cowan loaded his shotgun and blasted the TV before turning the gun on his wife, who escaped.
Tactical officers surrounded the home and managed to talk Cowan out Tuesday morning.
Cowan was with charged second-degree reckless endangerment and could receive 10 years in prison if convicted. Authorities say he has bipolar disorder.
The Smoking Gun has some more details:
According to a criminal complaint, Cowan’s wife called police Monday evening to report that her husband had blasted the TV and was threatening to kill himself. Cowan, who had been drinking, became angry while watching Palin, 20, perform on the ABC program.
As Palin … was dancing, Cowan “jumped up and swore, saying something to the effect of, ‘The [f***ing] politics.’ Steven was upset that a political figure’s daughter was dancing on this particular show when Steven did not think that she was a good dancer,” the complaint notes.

She is hesitant to embrace wholeheartedly her partner. The other female dancers that I have watched seem more at home with their partners embraces and touches. My opinion

Vice President Albore refer to our constitutional republic as “our great democracy” in a speech once. And I have to admit to pounding on the car dashboard in frustration when I heard that V. Gene Robinson had been ordained as an Episcopalian bishop, but shooting a TV over a dance routine??? For real? I actually did go over to the Smokin’ Gun and look at the document. Unbelievable, simply unbelievable. I guess the off button on the remote wasn’t working, but why didn’t he simply pull the plug? I vote for her every week (all my votes go to her) not just because I like her mom, but because she REALLY has improved sooo much since day one. Yes, the others are good, probably even better, but she has shown the most improvment over the others, along with the “Not so Raven” guy. And lets face it, the voters are also going to vote for “likability” and she has that over the others. I’ll keep voting for her.

The others are semi-pro dancers and entertainers and the viewer votes are out here to balance the playing field. Jennifer Gray obviously is the best dancer . . . ‘Dirty Dancing’ star . . . duh? Maybe the producers will be more careful in balancing their ‘stars’ in the future. Also, did you notice she did not get one of the tall, strong guys as a partner which also limited what she could do? Keeping her on the show is worth it just to hear Jimmy Kimmel cry and moan about it!
