T. Boone Pickens: ‘We’re The Only Country in The World Without an Energy Policy’

While appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens dished on everything from energy policy, to natural gas, to “green” jobs. But it was when “Morning Joe” guest Mike Barnicle asked Pickens what he would do differently to boost the economy via the energy industry, the oilman had some depressing news.
“If I was president, I’d get an energy policy for America. We’re the only country in the world without an energy policy and you use 25 percent of the oil. We’re insane,” Pickens said. “And we have resources in America that we could have an energy policy.”
But what about energy independence?
“I wouldn’t want to be,” Pickens responded, “because I want to work with the Canadians. But we work with the Canadians like they’re the enemy sometimes. We tell them they can’t bring a Keystone pipeline to the United States…That’s 250 billion barrels of oil that the United States would capture for our use!”

“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski pushed Pickens on the subject of the Obama administration’s approach to energy. The oilman didn’t change his tune.
“Well, they don’t have an energy policy,” Pickens said.
“So you don’t think that the oil production being up domestically is due to the work of this administration?” Brzezinski asked.
“It has nothing to do with the administration,” Pickens replied. “We’ve gotten someplace, but it’s because of technology advanced by the industry.”
However, out of all the things said by the tycoon, there was one moment that grabbed a lot of people’s attention. That was when Pickens, a man who has arguably put more money than any single person into the “green” energy industry, openly admitted that he has “lost his a*s” investing in wind energy.
“My issue is not political,” Pickens said, “I mean, this is an opportunity for America to advance, get on the back of cheap energy and recover our economy. It can be done, but we have no plan.”
What suggestions did he have?
“Obama needs to go in, study it, look at it, and decide what an energy plan is, and then go forward with it. He needs to explain to his people, ‘Hey, we can get on everything green,” Pickens said.
“We can get on everything renewable. Then the cost of power will go up ten times.’ So be careful when you start fooling with it. Know what you’re working with.”

Yes Pickens, lets get an energy policy like “every” country. Then we can pay $10/gallon for gasoline like they do in the UK and like Obama’s Energy Czar Chu wants.
And he talks about us being crazy for using “25%” of oil, then complains about not working with Canada for oil. Which one is it, Pickens?

I thought Pickens losing his donkey in wind energy was old news. Shoot, I though wind energy currently being anything but a looser was old news.

He used a Navy surplus submarine battery and it was charged by the windmill. when there was no wind, he ran off the battery. Smokey ran Nascar and Indy cars. Back in late 80′s he invented the hot vapor engine – a Pontiac 4 cylinder that produced over 300 horsepower and passed all fed. emmissions. Patent No. 4,862,859 Sept 5, 1989. All of the big 3 was bidding on it and then Clinton stepped in and it was parked. Oil companys poop_d all over themselves – would have put to many people out of work – would have lost contact with all the royal families in Egypt.

Well, the dem lib / econuts do have a policy. Give Billions of dollars to the “green sector” and watch them go bankrupt. But that’s okay. The dem libs and econuts can go home and tell their significant other that they tried to save the world by going green.

Also I would develop the Bakken field to the max. Believe me if the Prez announced these policies, the price of oil would go down within a week. And within a month the price of gas would go down by at least $1.

Posted on April 13, 2012 at 1:37amThis is true we are taking our excess oil now and selling on the global market at higher profits. For the last 5 years the oil consumption of our country has gone down on a weekly basis, yet the price of gas continues to climb.
They continue to find more available resources for oil, coal and natural gas that will carry us far into the next century, but they continue to raise the price on these fuels in order to make use spend more of our money on energy sources that are 10 times more expensive. Then they wonder why the economy tanks? They should know the availability of inexpensive energy will always cause the economy to grow and when energy becomes too expensive the economy will shrink or withdraw until the price of energy returns to a lower rate that allows for less expensive expansion for businesses.
The housing market is a prime example. Most new housing is built outside of metropolitan areas. In order for new housing to be built there needs to be lower fuel prices for people to be able to drive farther to get to work. Of course this goes completely against the progressive’s plan to keep everyone convined to metropolitan areas for easier population control. So keeping the cost of energy high is benefitting the progressives agenda on several levels.
They are winning and the people continue to lose their freedom and way of life.

We HAVE said that as it stands we need to drill our own resources, make the most of them while doing it. libs love to use hummers and trucks. but never gets the fact that everything runs on oil. including their priuses. not to mention the food they eat, the electricity that runs the hospitials all run on oil/nuke. I have yet to see a greenie ever offer to put one of their relitives , who is on life support power based on a windmill or solar panel. free markets, rivate industry, and drilling our own oil will help us. not obama

The biggest question is number 2. Currently Joe Biden and Ken Salazar have the only Unicorn in existence locked in the basement of the CIA.
