Tabacco Brothers Host ‘Occupy a Desk’ Jobs Fair at Zuccotti Park, Occupiers Pelt Them With Birdseed

You may recall the Tabacco brothers — two Manhattan small business owners — who decided to bring a jobs fair to Occupy Wall Street base-camp at Zuccotti Park. Dubbed the “Occupy a Desk Jobs Fest,” Derek and John Tabacco signed up several local companies with job openings to participate.

Instead of being met with gratitude and and a stack of resumes, however, the Occupiers — many of whom claim that they have had trouble finding a job — decided to protest the jobs fest, claiming the Tabaccos were hosting the employment fair simply for publicity.

In fact, so “ornery” were the protesters, that one Tabacco brother told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto that Occupiers pelted their feet with birdseed in an effort to bring swarms of pigeons to their booth.

John Tabacco started the segment by saying, “when we went out there and did our first protest and asked people to ‘Occupy a Desk’ or get a job, they were screaming at us, I can’t get a job.”

“Where can I get a job? So we thought, hey, if they cannot find jobs, they don’t have time to go out and interview because they are sleeping in a park, let’s get some job opportunities and bring them down to the park. And to be honest with you, I think if Mayor Bloomberg wants a clue on how to clear the park, they should hold a job fair there every day…”

      That’s all this movement has ever been.

      There were legitimate protesters with legitimate points out there for about a week. Those people had some valid concerns even though they were misguided in who they were directing their protests to.

      They all left when the democratic machine started recruiting all the dregs of society to come camp in the parks. The dregs and the democrats then coopted the movement and made it nothing but a propaganda machine that spouts democratic talking points. The dirtbags that are out there now have nothing to do with anything except being useful idiots for the democratic party.

    YOU DO KNOW that many of these scruffy individuals are actually PROFESSIONAL PROTESTORS for hire…they make a living of sorts going to various sites to do their thing.
    Some have said the Unions hired them. Some are doing it for the fun and so they can brag about it to their friends…they think it’s going to be a historical iconic thing like Woodstock.
    Some are deadbeat druggies and degenerates who have nothing better to do…they want company, food, a chance to steal a laptop for cash.
    Some are rich to upper middle class liberal activists whose goal in life is self-promotion and self-satisfaction…they just want to be seen and heard there.
    Others really want jobs and are stuck when jobs are scarce.

    The Occupy movement is a mixture of people…but they are NOT the TEA Party and most do not have anything near the same goals.

      You are correct. I have seen professional ‘protestors’ in action here in my town. It was during the ’90s when UPS workers were on strike. The company I worked for at the time was located next to the local UPS facility. Every day I would go outside at lunch time and I would see the picketers sitting on lawn chairs, holding their signs. But one day, I went outside and saw about two dozen people being led in some sort of ‘sing-song’ chant about AFSCME. There was a bus parked nearby, and also there was a cameraman from one of the local TV stations filming the ‘protestors’. After about 15 minutes, the TV cameraman got into his van and drove away. Right after that, these ‘protestors’ got on the bus, and it drove away. The really funny part is, those guys that were actual UPS employees, sitting on the lawn chairs, didn‘t even participate with the other ’protestors’ in the staged performance for the TV camera.

    See, this just shows that “occupiers” are potentially union paid anarchists, or just lazy inept people looking for a hand out….
    The fact that they “occupy” ports is a red flag on what is actually going on.

    I just need to say a heads up and say on the record that such a reaction is not the norm for every OWS protester. Some people were really needing for a job and would’ve loved to be with these Tabacco brothers.     That‘s the major thing about America and it’s beautiful, that you can go from a 99%er to a 1%er in a blink of an eye. That’s what happened to Tracy Postert. It can happen to any OWSer who is really into finding a job. (Though uncommon, they do exist.)

    Contrast this to Newt Gringrish, who would make me turn in a blank ballot if he ran against Barock. That jerk wouldn’t hire anyone even if they had on a brand new suit and smelled of Old Spice and Swave.

      I seem to remember an interview with Ms Postert where she said something to the effect of “I couldn‘t find a job and really didn’t have anything else to do, so I came down here to join the OWS”. Then she accepts a job with a Wall Street company.

      Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad she found a job but the hypocrisy is amusing.

      I remember the mind set and the times………those that did want to work (of the hippies and drop outs) vowed to change the system from the inside and I must say enough of them did just that. The rpoblem with thier demands and ideology is the same for every utopian ideal…eventually you run out of other peoples money and are forced to max out the credit card to keep it going. The time has come to drop the now 50 year old experiment…in less than 2 generations America has gone from solid and solvent to today’s mess (which is a crossroads). We either force the Gov’t to be responsible or we go under. It’s that simple.

    Occupy a friggin bathtub, or a life somewhere. What a waste of the human reproductive system. Apperantly some of their Mommys stood-up too fast after collecting their $5 and the best part of them ran down her leg. And whats this crap about them occupying some docks and ports? So what happened to the ruff and tuff American dock worker? I figured some of those dock workers would slap the excrement out of a few of them and that would be the end of it. WTF Man. So do we have a bunch of limp-wristed dock workers now a days or is it that miserable ‘union’ stuff?

      While their political science and women’s studies professors demanded $100K tuition fees these OWS idiots left college with nothing even approaching a credible qualification that an employer would want. This is why they want others to pay for their tuition..they don’t have a hope in Hades of paying it off themselves. This the disaster of the liberal arts in colleges. Seriously…look at them. Would you hire them? I’m particuarly amused by the ones that hide their faces with masks and bandanas…what are they protecting? Their good name and reputation?

      OWS is dead. They’ve hardened public opinion against them. Any student of history knew that once this “movement” couldn’t grow beyond the blind lefties it appeals to, it would lose media attention and have to resort to disruption and confrontation to keep the media around. Sure enough…the west coast ports were attacked yesterday. OWS is dead..it’s another lefty failure thrown on the dung heap that is lefty failure.

    We have yet to see a single OWS accomplishment other than a rolling crime wave, filth, rambling nonsense, and the disgust of most everyone who is unfortunate enough to encounter them. They have not helped the community in any way. They do not get along well with anyone outside their movement, much less each other. They are destroying every place they are encamped.
