TACOMA, Wash. (AP/The Blaze) — Nine sixth-grade boys suspected of participating in a so-called “fight club” have been expelled from a Tacoma, Wash., middle school. Fourteen other students are also suspected of being involved in the organized fights.
School officials tell The News Tribune they found out about the club when the relative of one participant spoke to a television station about it. KCPQ-TV also aired a cell phone video showing two kids fighting in a school bathroom.
The fights took place at Stewart Middle School and in homes.
“I was horrified. I kept expecting one of them to go into the wall — those bathrooms are very unforgiving on a 12 year old boy’s body,” an unnamed woman said after her nephew — a member of the so-called fight club — showed her footage of fights he captured on his cell phone camera. The youngster says he had recorded at least 15 separate fights taking place after school, inside the Steward Middle School boy’s bathroom.
“After we took the cell phone from him he received a text saying is it your turn to fight on Monday? These were definitely planned, I know my relatives are young boys and they were willing participants because it was fun for them,” the anonymous woman told the local Fox affiliate. “I would like to see the school increase its security, and accountability to the parents, when they are supposed to be watching and supervising them,” she added.
A Tacoma Public Schools spokesman says the school expelled the boys as of Monday. When they can return will be determined on a case-by-case basis, with school officials weighing each students’ disciplinary histories.
District officials have told school principals throughout Tacoma to be on the alert for similar clubs.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 3:15amAs long as one of the kids is a Reff. there are no weapons involved, and it’s a fair fight, I think it’s great!!! Having your a$$ handed to you a few times when your a kid builds character, and teaches you a lot about yourself. There is a HUGE difrence betwene violence and sport. Seams to me like this is sport. These young men are learning how to defend themselves, how to loose, how to win, and self control.
Am I the only one that noticed when we quit letting kids fight, they started shooting eachother instead?
While not perfect, I’m sure, the fact that these kids organized these fights says to me they gave it some thought. They have, even if unspoken, some sort of rules and structure to this, and I think it should be encouraged! Make it a part of P.E., and give them some gloves, that way it can be more properly supervised. I‘m proud of these young men for not letting themselves be turned into pansey’s!

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 3:00amRotten little punks. They should have to spend a week in school 24/7, that would teach ‘em that fight clubbing is not acceptable. Some of them are probably learning how to fight at home, some of them are probably being beaten at home, but I can about guarantee you that in middle school, they are not all that concerned about being out of school for a while.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 5:54pmYou oviously know nothing. My brother was the one who video taped the fights and I know all his friends who were invovled. No one was forced they wanted to fight eachother and none of them were abused. I mean how stupid can you be. Most of these kids where raised by good religious people, and just to let all of you know these kids are only ike 11 and 12 years old. They are only kids and fight is normal for young boys! Besides these kids could probably kick you know-it-all ass.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 2:47amWhere in the hell are the parents? This makes me cry. Our children are robbed of their childhoods as their heads are filled with anger and violence I hope and pray these parents have been given a wakeup call. . My grandchildren are in middle school. I would hate this type of behavior for them, I honestly am worried for our kids and what they are exposed to now a days .All the video games, movies, music, and television that encourage our babies down the road to distruction need to be carefully monitored by the parents. These children obviously have little or no supervision.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 12:44amThis is truly sad. But I guess this is what we get for letting a small group of non-religious idiots and the ACLU take God and the Big 10 out of our schools along with the Flag, the Pledge and the Anthem. Not to mention not keeping parents responsible for their offspring as well.
And all teachers and teacher unions want to do is fight for “what is theirs” while saying they are doing it for the kids. Where the hell were the teachers for these kids? And you‘re trying to tell me that the school didn’t know this was occuring in the boys bathroom? At school? Come on……

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 12:31amDon’t expel them. Recruit them. Get them a boxing coach, set up a ring, have a six fight event every Friday night at the school gymnasium. Charge admission to fund the program. keep the little monsters off the streets while allowing them to burn off a little testosterone. Problem solved. Or, we can do it the liberal way: Put them all on probation with mandatory counseling and behavioral modification therapy (OSI Boot Camp for little Comrades) at the expense of the slacker parents, of course, which will fund the program completely. Problem solved, again. Two birds-one stone. :)

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 6:25amA 16oz glove never hurt anyone; in fact they probably helped tens of thousands of boys. Back when public schools were good, some PE teachers kept boxing gloves nearby to allow young men the opportunity to constructively deal with normal conflict. No one was hurt and unlike today, no one was shot or stabbed. We have allowed our young men to be “chickified” by the libs.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 11:38pm@Nietsretto….. You are 100% correct. Morals need to be taught again. At the high school my girls attend the students hold a prayer meeting at the flag pole in front of the school before school starts. A large Christian church holds services in the school auditorium on Sunday and Wednesday nite. Parents are involved in their childrens lives. There are no fight clubs, and crime is near zero. The school of 2,600 is one of the best in the country. And the ACLU knows better to stick their nose in our business!! Morals work!!

Jack usually keeps me hidden in the darkness, rarely have i seen the light of day.
Like a shadow, I follow Jack everywhere he goes, shaping him like a lump of clay.
But Jack snapped as of lately, a tipping point was reached, the felling of a nation, progressives at their peak.
They said that change was hoped for, the turning of a page, but I am Jacks frustration translated now as rage.
And though my rage is silent, its patient and intense, I had to practice aiming, to knock ******** the fence.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 11:16pmIf they start at this age this may be the way they deal with any one they disagree with as they get older. The father seems to be a real hero. It is always the schools fault, not the parents and sometimes I know that it is the school but the parents are where the life lessons should start, and maybe they are in this case.

As far as someone to blame I blame the parents. It has nothing to do with color..YOU brought that up. Now go read yesterdays news about Seattle.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 10:36pmI live in the Tacoma area and this does not surprise me at all. What does surprise me is how this story is written with no mention of the backgrounds of the children participating. It appears from the story as written, the fighting is consensual and not malicious in nature. But, Tacoma has a high concentration of poor black and Hispanic families in some of its neighborhood areas and schools, it would be easy to see how this could easily turn into a racially motivated/manipulated scene if the fights turned deadly or critical in nature; gang related warfare might ensue with white on black fighting, black on Hispanic fighting, etc. It is sad to see this type of activity occurring at the middle school level. Tacoma is not unlike most urban cities with the typical security measures in place to protect the older high school students. Now it seems armed guards with metal detectors are needed to ensure middle school student safety. Amateur Fight Clubs are more prevalent than many people are aware. From conversations with a number of young adults I have met, I am aware of a number of these type of clubs where mostly men in their late teens and early 20′s participate; a bunch of bored tough white guys who like the mixed martial arts fight scene. The clubs are underground and very secretive in nature. A really dumb activity; band-aids and ice packs for comfort. Hardly enough for a broken hand or nose. It looks like these kids have caught wind and have begun emulating the older teens and young adults that participate in these type of clubs. Sadly, it is only natural for impressionable pre-teens and teens with too much testosterone to spare.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 11:44pmBroker101, one of your leaders is telling something. LISTEN!
“Ideologies aren’t all that important. What’s important is psychology.
The Democratic constituency is just like a herd of cows. All you have to do is lay out enough silage and they come running. That’s why I became an operative working with Democrats. With Democrats all you have to do is make a lot of noise, lay out the hay, and be ready to use the ole cattle prod in case a few want to bolt the herd.
Eighty percent of the people who call themselves Democrats don’t have a clue as to political reality.
What amazes me is that you could take a group of people who are hard workers and convince them that they should support social programs that were the exact opposite of their own personal convictions. Put a little fear here and there and you can get people to vote any way you want.
The voter is basically dumb and lazy. The reason I became a Democratic operative instead of a Republican was because there were more Democrats that didn’t have a clue than there were Republicans.
Truth is relative. Truth is what you can make the voter believe is the truth. If you’re smart enough, truth is what you make the voter think it is. That‘s why I’m a Democrat. I can make the Democratic voters think whatever I want them to.”
