Take a 3-Minute ‘Tour of Light’ Through L.A. With This Stunning Time-Lapsed Video

Say what you will about Los Angeles smog and traffic congestion, but you might think differently after viewing the City of Angels through this “tour of light.”

Filmmaker Colin Rich posted this three-minute time-lapsed walk through L.A., in which he made an effort to “capture and accentuate the movement of light through the day and night” using multiple motion control techniques.

Given the city’s expanse, Rich writes on his Vimeo description of the short film that he shot from many different angles to give the feel of the whole city and its many different elements.

“Usually I was able to capture just one shot per day with a lot of driving, exploring, and scouting in between but the times sitting in traffic or a ‘sketchy’ neighborhood often lead to new adventures and interesting places,” he wrote.

This is well done (I don’t like the voice over either). Several shots of the Griffith Park Observatory & Downtown Los Angeles. Santa Monica Pier, Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, the L.A. River…..a cool vantage point of Los Angeles from what looks to be Mulholland Drive.
Personally, I would prefer a montage of the Mohave desert or the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. But, to each their own. Except for the voice over I actually liked it.

A quick one – no shots at the LibTools that for some reason read everything on The Blaze even though we are “crazy” and “evil”… ANYWAYS, This video would be AWESOME with some of the music from the soundtrack of the movie “DRIVE” – especially the opening stuff. There is also video online of a guy snowskiing in the dark on a mountainside, while wearing this white-LED suit. That video is also way-cool with that “Drive” music!

Was thinking how cool this video is, then had a chilling thought: What will happen there WHEN (not if) the US economy crashes? I can’t imagine trying to stockpile and defend a house or apartment in such an area. I do imagine that many are going to TRY… My own prayer is that there will be some little blip that’ll give us even 24 hours heads-up that “it has begun”. I pray for just enough time to cross the state-line and get the heck out of Florida before the martial-law hammer falls. Anyone with a brain needs to be warned and at least buy yourself a Ruger 10/22 (under $200) and a buttload of ammunition. You can get a 1000 rd box at “WallyWorld” for fifty bucks. Believe me, a .22 vs empty hands – better than buying that stupid gold coin! Watch the movie – imagine the lights going out.

    Visually great.

Leave out the French-sounding voiceover – it adds nothing except to be a reminder of France and everything we loathe about France.

      Agreed.
Liked the music too, just not the weird voice-over.

If everyone had night vision goggles you would not have to turn all those lights on. Do people sleep anymore?

So this story is more important than today’s Rasmussen poll that shows Obama now beating Romney in Missouri, a supposed non-swing state that Romney has led for months. Akin is dragging down the whole party. I‘d say that’s more important than a silly time-lapse video. This is why the Blaze needs an overhaul.

No, but is more real. You just need three minutes everyday to appreciate the beauty that surrounds you. After that you can torture yourself with the reality of mankind.

Change the soundtrack to LA Woman by The Doors and it would be pretty cool.

BLAZE, you’re burying very important headlines with hyperbolic nonsense. Couldn’t you put articles such as these, and BLAZE OPINION articles in another section, away from the HEADLINES?

Did someone force you to click on this story? It must be hard not being able to scroll down past a story…
