Romney donors who have contributed more than $50,000 or raised at least $250,000 for the Romney Victory fund are being treated to what has been described as a “rock concert for Republicans,” where the politically-inclined can mingle with the likes of Paul Ryan, Jason Chaffetz, Karl Rove, Jeb Bush, Condoleezza Rice, and the presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney himself.
According to Politico, the three-day retreat also featured presentations on the campaign, and one attendee said: “It kind of exemplified how the operation works and it was a very successful presentation…If there was any question as to whether this was a professional team, I think those questions were totally dispelled…”
Hosted at a ski resort on Utah, close to 800 donors were reportedly in attendance– more than twice as many as originally expected. And Romney is not planning on losing his fundraising edge to Obama any time soon, it seems.
“You get 800 people excited,” said attendee Allen Weh, the former New Mexico GOP chair and gubernatorial candidate. “They’re going to go out and get more.”

Attendees began to flow into The Chateaux at Silver Lake on Friday afternoon. Many arrived in vans and black cars that shuttled them from nearby private airport terminals and the main airport 30 minutes away in Salt Lake City.

In the lobby of the Chateaux a team of young staffers processed check-ins, handing every attendee a beige Vineyard Vines duffle bag with “Believe in America” embroidered on one side and a circular flag-style emblem and “Romney” on the reverse. Each bag contained a white binder with “Romney Leadership Team” printed on the cover and a blue baseball cap with the same circular design as the bag.

And while the entire event was off-limits to the press, guests who declined to be named say that everyone inside was in “high spirits.”
“This was much more meaty than I thought it would be,” Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz commented. “I thought it would be a little bit more rah rah but we had a lot of the internal workings of Romney world and how they do things day to day. I thought the senior staff portion was really neat where they talked about the 10 a.m. meeting and how they go through some of the decision making process.”
He continued: “A lot of people are getting their picture taken with who might be the vice presidential pick,“ identifying the person as ”any one of the brand names in there, from Paul Ryan to Sen. Thune, to (former Secretary of State) Condoleezza Rice.”
Romney remains wildly poplar with Utah voters, with 68 percent of registered voters supporting him in the presidential election, while just 26 percent support President Obama, according to a Desert News/KSL-TV poll.

They will rally around BHO even the ones who have figured out that he wants to destroy this country. As republicans, we have a candidate who does not agree with me on everything but then I have never met anyone who does. I want a president to takes a harder line on certain issues. However Mitt Romney is a God fearing man that knows in the end he is accountable for his decisions and actions. He believes that America is the greatest country on the planet and will do what is necessary to keep it that way. He knows that if other countries take that position we eventually become a slave to them.
Yes I sound like I am a cheerleader for Romney, well maybe so, but with as tight as this election will be, I may have break out the pleated wool skirt (except I don’t have the legs for it). We MUST ban together to defeat BHO. A land slide would be nice but I think it may come down to yours and my vote.

I’m not quite so convinced that he is when it comes to public monies. There are a number of red flags in his MA record that would suggest that when he’s spending OPM (other peoples money) he might not be quite as sound in his Capitalist beliefs.
As far as this story goes I don’t have any problem with them getting together and having a little fun. They are working hard to advance their cause and deserve a little R&R. The people voting are supposed to make their decisions based on all information given to them in order to make an informed decision on who is best electable. Well we have given all of you some very important information that shows Romney will not be able to capture enough of the voting blocks in order to win. Now you must make the decision on who you think, with the info given, will have the best chance to defeat Obama. A revolution in the way we’ve come to allow our government to operate. I’m not going to bash Ronald Reagan. He did a lot of great things and was a very inspirational, visionary leader to be sure. But, are you aware that he racked up almost $1.9T in deficits during his 8 years in office? I admit that I consider fiscal matters to be the numero uno measure of conservatism and you might disagree with that. However, I can’t call someone a conservative when they average overspending their budget by $230B per year.
The interest on our national debt is currently around $225B and rising every minute because we are still borrowing! Interest is one of the top expenditure items on the whole budget! Many in here will tell you that‘s all President Obamas’ fault. That is not true. This problem has been going on for decades and has gotten worse with each successive administration except Clinton. Clinton overspent too, but just not as badly.
You‘re absolutely right that we can’t stop with this election no matter the outcome. But I think the Republican/Democrat paradigm must die. Either party will kill our Republic in the name of their power being preserved. We can only get out of this if we open our eyes, reject the status quo from both establishment parties and find principled alternatives. They are out there. We have to help them grow. P

Use Mozilla Firefox and install Ghostery for Firefox. (Ghostery doesn’t fully work in Internet Explorer).
Set the Ghostery bubble from 15 seconds to 0 or 1 second in options and make sure blocking is enabled.
All the pop-ups will go away.
Also, to refresh a page faster (to see your post), under “comments” change the “Order by” from “Newest to Oldest” to “Oldest to Newest” and then back again.

It is capitalism that we all should embrace. Maybe in the future The Blaze could offer a “pop-up free membership” in which people could pay an amount of money to view the site without them. Something tells me that would be a really high price.
