Take a Tour of the World’s Fastest Car — Hint: It Hits 268 MPH

Take a Tour of the Worlds Fastest Car Hint: It Hits 268 MPH

The Bugatti Veyron has reclaimed its title as the world’s fastest car. The sleek, futuristic vehicle had to make some changes to get back the designation, including using airplane-style parts, a special spoiler, and even a feature that lowers it to the ground once you start driving.

And just wait until you get into some of the nerdy details about the engine and the horsepower:

Just in case you’re in the market for one, it will cost you:

Take a Tour of the Worlds Fastest Car Hint: It Hits 268 MPH

I’ve read somewhere on this car to get it to go top speed you have to go through there course and then they will unlock the computer that controls the speed output.

There are cars that will do 240+ in a STANDING MILE for a faction of the price, half the cylinders and a single turbo vs. 4 in the Volkswage… err I mean Bugatti. I am still in love with Hinson Super Car’s silver Z06 (even though it lost a tire and flipped). 1738hp 424 ci motor with a 106mm turbo. That car went 224 on 13 psi of boost, and it made the 1738 on 22 lbs (and it could have taken MORE!). It’s dead now though :-(. But the Veyron has nothing to do with being the fastest car in the world. It’s about the total experience. The luxury, exclusivity, etc. Anyone can build a 250mph with a little money and some know-how (or the right shop).

I want the hybrid version, I wanna plug it in and go 30 miles before it dies…lets see, 30 miles at 240mph (the hybrid doesn’t go as fast….just so you can smell flowers and stuff, and has a flower vase in the dashboard) = an 8 minute drive…..wait, they don’t make a hybrid because manly men designed it and who wants a frickin flower vase on your dashboard ya freakin hippie….sweet ride but I prefer two wheels. Funny how you have been able to go to a motorcycle dealer and buy a bike off the showroom floor for $15,000 that will pull 200 mph stock, and you’ve been able to do it for 15 years now.

Driving through Cape Coral (SW Florida) last summer in my sewing-machine powered Miata. Motorcycle pulls up beside me at a light with his girl on the back. Looks over and says “Bet this is a lot faster that that”. I saw the summer thunderstorm coming ahead, reached back with one hand and pulled the top up. Light changed. Arrived at the next light beside the same cycle. Rolled down my window and said (much to his chagrin) “Best this is a lot dryer than that”.

The bad news is that at top speed the tires wear out in 18 minutes. It’s OK though because at top speed, it runs out of gas in 15 minutes. Seriously!

At 263 mph you can travel about 52 miles in 12 min. The police cruiser traveling @ 140 mph will still be 24 miles behind you when you stop to fill up. So if you‘re quick in the men’s room and have correct change for the soda machine, you should be well on your way again before he can even catch sight of you.

At this price, these are mostly owned by oil sheiks. A new set of wheels/tires, which as I recall, are required every 10,000 miles, costs about $20,000! I’m also thinking I read previously that at 268 mph, it runs out of gas in about 20 minutes. Then again, if you can afford $2.8 million for your car, NONE of that matters! What an amazing vehicle.
