Target Selling Pride Shirts to Help Pro-Gay Marriage Group — and Reportedly Blocking Emails From Those Complaining

Target Corp. is selling gay pride T-shirts to raise money for a group working to defeat a same-sex marriage ban in Minnesota — and is reportedly blocking emails from one group complaining about it.

The Minneapolis-based retailer — which came under fire two years ago for a $150,000 campaign donation in support of a gay marriage opponent — is currently selling special shirts with all proceeds benefiting the Family Equality Council.

In response, the American Family Association mobilized its supporters to urge Target to pull the shirts, but has since said the corporation is blocking emails sent through the organization’s internal system.

“I hope you will not let Target silence your voice. I encourage you to call their corporate office and share your personal thoughts,” the group told supporters.

Target has pledged up to $120,000 to the Washington, D.C.-based Family Equality Council, which is working against a state constitutional ban on same-sex marriage slated for the November ballot. Target started selling the shirts in late May and will continue through the end of June. Available only on the retailer’s website, the $12.99 apiece shirts come in four designs with words including “pride” and “harmony.” One, designed by singer Gwen Stefani, features the phrase “love is love.”

According to the Associated Press, Target hasn‘t taken a stance on Minnesota’s ballot question. A spokeswoman said the T-shirt promotion was organized by a group of gay Target employees and that it’s the second time Target has had an initiative benefiting a specific group. The first raised money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“Target is pleased to be able to bring our guests products they want while, in turn, helping support the LGBT community through the donation of 100 percent of the purchase price to the Family Equality Council,” the company said in a statement.

A spokesman for Minnesota for Marriage, a group that supports the constitutional amendment, said Target’s actions are “an insult to the overwhelming majority of their customers.”

“Just get out of this debate and do what they’re good at,” Chuck Darrell said according to the AP. “Get out of the business of trying to redefine marriage.”

Homosexuals love to show off their “NOH8” aka no hate duct tape over mouth and letters painted on their cheek. Yet, they are the ones who created a Google maps website of every donor who sent money for the Prop 8 banning gay marriage in Cali. Churches and individuals were harassed and assaulted at home and work. Target supports militant homosexuals. They’ve been donating to liberal non-profits for years. Not one conservative group has ever received a donation.

Target employees threatened their executives when a donation was made to a pro business Republican candidate (not an anti-gay legislation or cause). This was all staged by Tides Foundation or one of their criminal associates and syndicates. The target employees threatened to harass these executives children, at their homes, at church and even at HQ. Militant homosexual employees can cause a lot of financial damage and claim it to be accidental.

They are American citizens, adults and fully consent to a committed relationship together. There are benefits to being married. While those benefits exist, any legal couple should be allowed to marry.

And before the slippery slope argument is used, no, I don’t care if you have multiple wives. No, i don’t care if you want to marry your cousin. If it’s consensual, it‘s none of my friggin’ business!

AMERICAN…and civil unions don’t come with the SAME benefits? Of course they do…your argument is a moot one. Gay marriage is an attack on traditional values by 3% of the population against the 83% religious of the pop. Very few people give a crap about gays being gay, but the FACT is that the very term “marriage” only even EXISTS because of the Judeo-Christian ritual of bringing together ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN. Come back when you have your big boy pants on and your argument takes some critical thinking.

I frankly don’t understand posts like this… I mean just last week, we got an article about how Walmart was screwing over Republicans, Conservatives and right-leaning Libertarians… Then everyone wanted to go “boycott’ Walmart, while saying they would shop at Target instead…

Then there was the article complaining about DC comics with its gay Green Lantern character… People were saying boycot DC, buy Marvel instead! But about a week before that was an article on Marvel comics putting in gay marriages! People were posting, boycot Marvel, and buy DC instead!

I’m starting to think posts like this are just troll posts… Probably from people trying to divide the groups… and trying ot make conservatives look like “hypocrites”…

I mean why not just stop shopping at all liberal companies, and start some new ones that follow more conservative values! Let all the liberal companies fail on their own accord…

The only people who are allowed any kind of prejudice are the gays, African-Americans and the Hispanics in this country. they are allowed with impunity to bash anyone and everyone who disagrees with them. They seem to be the only ones who of the first amendment actually gets to have freedom of speech. they expect the rest of the people in this country to just shut up and agree with them, or they will be targeted as racists and haters. Even though, it isn’t true. Just because we may disagree with them doesn’t mean we are racists or haters. We just disagree with them. That’s it! No hate, no being a racist, we just disagree with a lot of what they say.

I think its a great idea to boycott Target. Its a t-shirt with a rainbow…do you know what kind of message that sends? You people are all morons. Boycotting Target over carrying this t-shirt is about the stupidest thing I have heard since the last time I heard homophobes boycotting something. If you don’t like the T-shirt, don’t but it. Its not a threat to you, your lifestyle, your children or anything else. You aren’t gay? Then don’t buy it. I’m not a woman, but I’m not up in arms because they sell tampons. Oh and a little heads up to all of those that believe that a soldier defending gay rights is gay, you’re idiots. People that stand up and defend others does not make them one of that group. If you fought the Nazis in WWII, it didn’t mean you were a Jew. If you fought for civil rights against the Klan, it didn’t mean you were black. It means you are human, unlike the ignorant, self righteous, hate mongering people that claim to do everything in the name of God. If you’re worrying about being judged, you have good reason to worry, and its not because a gay couple is getting married.

Target now supports in action and money a deviant predilection to homosexual relationships. If homosexuality is “normal”, so must be bestiality, pedophilia, sadomasochism, and any other sexually deviant predilection. After all, these are all “natural” urges for some people but that does NOT give them legitimacy just as homosexuality should not be legitimized just because it is a “natural” tendency.

Your argument falls flat. While I agree, within the human psyche, it is a natural state for certain people to be pedophiles. It’s just who they are and became. The difference is, we have age of consent laws. Just like you’re not allowed to smoke or vote until your 18, you‘re not allowed to have sex with those until they’re ready to smoke their first cigarette. While you can argue that yes, it is within the pedophile, naturally, to be attracted to younger people, but aren’t we all? What 30 year old isn’t attracted to that hot 18-20 year old actress? What 40 year old isn’t attacked to those 25-30 year old sexy actress? We have 50….60…. year old men who marry 20 year old trophy wives? The difference is, they restrain themselves to the commonly accepted guideline of 18 years old, but we are all wired to be attracted to the young, beautiful opposite sex. Pedophiles just don’t grasp the legal age of consent requirements but ultimately, it is natural for all of us to be attracted to the young, fertile, sexy versions of our opposite sex.

Cousins and multiple wives, bestiality, all none of my business. Animals can’t consent to a legal contract like marriage. I don’t care if you have multiple wives or if you want to have sex with your cousin. None of my business.

You’ve got it right on target, guy, if you’ll excuse the pun. Sexual deviancy in any form, basically, is the result of mental disorders that are virtually the same in that they fixate on attractions that normal people find disgusting, because they have been born with a natural revulsion and aversion to them, as nature intended.

Because the instinct for survival and a compulsion to perpetuate the species has been inbred in everybody at birth, it’s perfectly natural for people to reject sexual deviants.

It has nothing to do with religion.

      @Encinom,

The last I checked, there are now 12 states that prohibit same-sex marriage via statute and 30 via state’s constitution.

The states that have passed same marriage? Most had to rely on activist judges to overrule the will of the people (such as happened in California).

As far as stating people like me are a dying breed, I have to laugh: the last time I checked homosexuals don’t have kids. They have to rely on us heterosexuals (or “breeders” as the gays call us) for kids or else through artificial means. Oh, and don’t forget, too, that its the liberals and democrats that endorse and celebrate abortion.

This means that since homosexuality and liberals are killing off their OWN next generation. This is why the gay community is huge on indoctrination programs and endorse morons like Savage to champion their cause.

So take your gay pride glitter that you like to throw in people’s faces, and throw it at yourselves. Its the gay population that is much more hostile, angry, and militant than the general hetero populous is.

Dying breed? Oh, no, old twink, you’ve got that wrong.

Our children are born with the same embeded traits as everybody else, which prompts them to regard unnatural behaving people with absolute disgust, as nature intended.

And I would venture to say also that most of us on here are younger than you, and since homosexuals have a very high percentage of dying from anorectal cancer, aids, TB, Hepatitis, and the like, it is your ilk that constitute a “dying breed.” Most of the older people here will probably out live all of you as well.

Better re-evaluate your status and situation before you threaten people with being a “dying breed.”

Target has been leaning to the dark side for awhile. My wife had liked the store over Walmart for it seemed cleaner and brighter. However, after seeing this she just might turn in her Target Credit Card. I have nothing personal against anyone that might buy these but I cannot condone this behaviour. I can only pray for the sick and hope they seek help from the only one that could help them.

The effects of smoking & drinking shows up 2 generations later in grandkids. There are some diseases that emasculate the host. Of course that could never happen to humans because our immune systems are so much better than other animals and we have modern medical science.

I agree. Itstime to put Target on notice that they will be hurt more by a majhority boycott than anythinga pro-gay boycott could create.. Email your local store manager and let him know tht you will no longer be shopping at Target. If you have prescriptions at their pharmacy, withdraw them and let them know why. Remeber a few years ago when Target banned the workd Christmas? The backlash was so great that it hurt them financially. The next year Chroistmas was back in their stores. Target always seems to jumpon these left wing social liberal casues and now its time to slap them down again.

Hey Mike, “meaningless” in the fact that it has no long term value. Fortunately gays do not procreate. They self eliminate. Target, on the other hand, is a business that could stay for generations. It is our job to stop that by refusing them our business.

      Posted on June 3, 2012 at 3:38pm

What I meant by meaningless is that regardless of the word they get to use, Gays already have the rights they need as couples. The term Marriage might be the trophy they desire but the difference in their lives as a result of such a victory will be merely emotional. Hardly worth the money required to make it law.

The reason I am opposed to Legal Gay “Marriage” is the LGBT community has shown their drive to use such footholds in our law to impose their will to be regarded as mainstream upon the public, re: Catholic Adoption Services’ experience in Massachussets. Once they achieve the title of normal, they will then force their version of normal upon the public and churches of our country.

In the event of legalized Gay marriage any church that preaches Bible philosophies diametrically opposed to the practice of homosexuality, will be attacked in court to cease and decist, they will be labeled as political, and have their tax exempt status revoked. It will be nightmare on a grand scale as it already has been in Massachussets.

As of right now the LGBT community can use a myriad of euphamisms: civil union, life partners, domestic partnership, soul mates, etc. They even get to openly parade their ideology like anyone else. Most Christians are even loving and respectful of their humanity, even when their behaviors contradict concepts they hold dear. Enough already. Surely they have better things to do than to work themselves into an emotional frenzy over a word.

Once marriage is no longer just between a man and a woman, they will be fighting to shut down churches because their beliefs are “unconstitutional.” You articulated this well.

Target is a HUGE advertiser for HGTV, to the point of a few of their shows have Target being the only store that they purchase all the decor from and surround entire shows around. I know you’re thinking big deal, but when you really look at the percentage of how many of their shows present homosexual couples as the norm, it is stunning. If you look, it is about a 1/3 of their makeup, which is odd considering that they are only supposed to be 2% of the population and HGTV has homosexuals represented way more than ‘minority’ couples.
I came to the conclusion long ago that HGTV was being used as a huge grooming prop for especially the females to accept that ‘gay’ couples were just like everyone else. HGTV, Disney, Foodnetwork, abc, espn and cnn along with some other ventures are all connected and partnered and it shows with their overriding message and how much and HOW they promote things such as the flotus and this admin.
