AP: Tea Party Candidates Help – and Hurt – Republicans

(AP) — Colorado Republicans are hosting a campaign tea party this fall, for better or worse.

Or maybe for better and worse, in a jarring demonstration of the potential and peril generated by a political movement responsible for reshaping the 2010 election season.

AP: Tea Party Candidates Help and Hurt RepublicansOne statewide nominee, Ken Buck, won the primary with the support of tea party activists and is a modest favorite to defeat appointed Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet. He enjoys the full backing of the Republican Party, and the groups aligned with it are pouring millions into television ads to help him.

The other, Dan Maes, went into a political nosedive soon after his surprise victory in the gubernatorial primary and has yet to recover. His personal credibility challenged, he’s been labeled an embarrassment by the state party chairman and overshadowed by a third-party contender.

Tea party activists in Colorado “provided much of the passion for the primaries on Aug. 10,” said Floyd Ciruli, a Denver pollster. At the same time, “they have changed what it means to be conservative” with their eagerness to recommend changes to Social Security and calls for shuttering federal departments.

That willingness, in turn, nourishes a Democratic strategy of labeling Buck and others as extremists, part of a nationwide strategy aimed at persuading voters to look past economic woes when voting this fall.

The same grass-roots passion that propelled two tea party contenders in Colorado has left a mark elsewhere, with similarly uncertain results for Nov. 2.

In Kentucky, Republicans quickly made peace with Rand Paul after he defeated an establishment-backed nominee in the Senate primary. But the race is tight in the public polls, and party officials have worried for months that the first-time candidate may prove too controversial or undisciplined to prevail.

In Arizona, Jesse Kelly surprised the GOP leadership by winning the nomination to challenge Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Despite the potentially competitive nature of the seat, Republicans have yet to launch the type of costly ad campaign they are running in dozens of other districts.

In Maine, a state represented by two of the Senate’s most moderate Republicans, gubernatorial candidate Paul LePage steers a more conservative fiscal course and occasionally stirs the kind of controversy they avoid. Polls depict an unpredictable multicandidate race a little more than two weeks before Election Day.

In Colorado, Maes put his conservatism on display over the summer when he said a Denver bike-sharing program was part of a “greater strategy to rein in American cities under a United Nations treaty.”

A political novice, he won the gubernatorial nomination when the campaign of a better-known rival, former Rep. Scott McInnis, collapsed in a plagiarism controversy.

Before he could pivot to the fall campaign against Denver’s Democratic Mayor John Hickenlooper, Maes struggled to answer questions about his resume. He claims that he was fired by the police department in Liberal, Kan., in the 1980s because police and politicians were corrupt and that he worked undercover for state investigators. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation denies he worked for them.

Maes must contend with a late entry into the race, former Republican Rep. Tom Tancredo, a staunch opponent of illegal immigration running as a candidate of the American Constitution Party.

Dick Wadhams, the GOP state party chairman, described Maes in an interview as “the worst candidate in Colorado history we’ve ever had for governor and one of the most polarizing.”

Tancredo and Maes met recently amid talk they would both withdraw, a move that would have permitted state Republican leaders to anoint former Rep. Bob Beauprez as the gubernatorial candidate for the campaign’s final month.

In the end, there were no withdrawals, and the effect on the party’s chances was clear at a recent debate in Denver.

“Republican for Tancredo,” read a hand-lettered sign that Gene Hogan, a Denver-area retiree, wore across his back as he waited for the event to begin.

Marv Calkins, 53, a resident of the Denver suburb of Aurora, said he cast a ballot for Maes in the primary but now is drawn to Tancredo because of his stand on immigration. Asked about his earlier vote, he shrugged and said, “It’s always the lesser of the evils.”

With polls suggesting Maes could finish third, Tancredo reserved most of his debate criticism for the front-runner Hickenlooper.

He accused the mayor of presiding over a “sanctuary city,” where illegal immigrants are sheltered from the full effects of the law, an accusation Hickenlooper denied.

Like Maes, Buck won the Senate nomination in an upset. But unlike him, he began the general election campaign with a lead in the polls over Bennet and quickly unified the party.

Bennet’s campaign prepared an 11-page compilation of his past statements that is designed to make him out to be a political extremist. Strikingly, it makes no mention of jobs, despite the importance of the issue in a state with 8.2 percent unemployment.

Buck shrugs off such attempts to define him, saying in a brief interview that most Coloradans view the tea party as a “citizens movement” and not a threat.

Like tea party-backed candidates in other states, he has softened some positions in an attempt to blunt Democratic charges.

During the primary, he supported a so-called Personhood Amendment backed by anti-abortion groups that would grant constitutional rights at the moment of conception. Now he says he won’t take a position on the ballot question, which opponents argue could outlaw widely used forms of birth control.

Behind narrowly in most public polls, Bennet’s chances of winning a full term appear to hinge largely on his ability to attract the support of suburban women who favor abortion rights, including Republicans and independents, who might vote Democratic in a better economy.

As a result, his campaign has tried to benefit politically from the claims of a woman who says Buck once refused to prosecute a case in which she said she had been raped. Instead, he told her the jury might have seen it as a case of “buyer’s remorse,” she says.

For his part, Buck put his political skills on display at a recent debate.

When both men declared support for individual elements of the health care legislation, Bennet jabbed that “until the very end, Ken Buck was almost for the health reform bill.”

Buck favors repeal of the measure that Bennet voted for, and his comeback went to the heart of the tea party appeal and the Republican reach for control of Congress.

“Yeah, but I didn’t agree with the other 2,400 pages and the 16 tax increases,” he said as Bennet stood by.

It’s interesting the way this article is titled… it’s as though we are here for the republicans. I think the Article would be better titled, “Republican Help – and Hurt – Tea Party Candidates”

After all aren’t they their to represent us. It makes it sound like they’re frustrated with us and wish we would come to our senses. They are frustrated because they still aren’t really getting it. Look how many bad things were said of O’Donnell as soon as she beat the republican (rino) in Delaware… for days all anyone had to say was that she would lose and that she wasn’t the best one for the job… who’s frustrating whom?

These conservatives, whether Tea Party or Republican, need to be cautious about their statements concerning the issues lest they feed into the demorats playbook.

On cutting government spending; some of the government bureaucracy is wasteful and should be pared back, while others may indeed be dispensed with completely, such as the Department of Education which is not within the parameters of the federal responsibilities. The Department of Energy has not lived up to it’s intended purpose, which was to help find ways, and support activity to reduce dependence on foreign oil.

On SS, they must be VERY CLEAR, that privatizing it does not mean eliminating it, but helping it to become solvent, and guaranteeing that future generations will have something they can count on, rather than the IOU’s that are currently in the fund.

On Medicare; with 77 million baby boomers entering the program over the next 20 years the expenditures are projected to increase from $207 billion currently to somewhere between $2.2 and $3 TRILLION dollars by 2025. THAT is unsustainable and would represent 75% of Barrack Obama’s record budget of $4.5 trillion in 2009. Medicare MUST be privatized at a more rapid pace than it currently is.

Foreign aid; with our current defivit/debt crisis, we must cut back on foreign aid, taking careful consideration of our “allies” in the U.N. When so many of the countries receiving our tax dollars, in the form of “aid” continuously vote against the U.S. in U.N. issues, they don’t deserve our help.

Government pensions, especially those of politicians, should be scrutinized. Politicians should not receive ANY retirement since most of them are wealthy to begin with, and the opportunities which present themselves after one leaves office are numerous and lucrative. Concerning all other government employees, the UNIONS have NO BUSINESS being involved in GOVERNMENT jobs.

    THE OTHER ISSUES our candidates MUST stick to;

    - JOBS!!
    - Spending(ridiculously out of control-outlaw earmarks, lobbyists)
    - Healthcare bill(offer real reform-tort, waste, fraud and abuse–go to industry for ideas)
    - Immigration(it has a profound affect on our annual budget, jobs, and the states ability to meet budget)
    - National Debt(offer a balanced budget amendment to the constitution)
    - Long term economic growth by reducing over bearing regulation(limit the powers of the President to appoint regulatory czars/departments such as the “consumer protection agency” he put under the authority of the Federal Reserve)

I love your list, but you forgot something I would like to add.

Campaign reform: Only registered individual voters should be allowed to contribute monies to political campaigns. It should be capped to something middle class Americans can afford to pay so each and every registered voter has the potential to use private money to support candidates of their choices. I’ll use $100 dollars per candidate as an example. This way each and every registered voter has an EQUAL voice. No union, lobbyist, business, or special interest money should be allowed to directly contribute to a political campaign.

This should apply to all national, state, and local government positions that are voted on.

By applying the same principals we do now in primary elections, where one candidate winds up getting the backing of the party electorate through financial support, we can advance the party ‘picks’ to general elections.

Once we have our party candidates, all left over financial donations should go to charities of the respective candidate’s choice, with regulation and oversights that prevent a losing candidate from walking away with political contributions. So, spend it, or donate it to charity.

Two weeks prior to the general elections, for 10 days (Mon-Fri for two weeks), there should be one hour long public debates between these candidates. Exposure? Any media outlet would kill for 1/4 of an audience of 74.5 million registered voters.

Special interest groups and businesses could compete for advertising spots during commercial breaks to inform or attempt to deceive the public on policies they have opinions about. Let them spend the money to fund the debates and televise them. Kind of like the Superbowl. Anyway, the local and national news outlets drool over political stories. Candidates are bound to get coverage where ever they are being noticed. Especially during election times… and maintaining a web site allows for massive exposure at minimal cost.

This would ensure a few things about political campaigning.

Each and every registered voter would suddenly become extremely important to a candidate, not only during the election process, but afterward as well. Even if you did not donate this election cycle, you’re a potential $100 during the next. Especially if the candidate enacts laws that improve your economic conditions. A donation to a political campaign is not required, but will be sought after by those choosing to serve in said public office.

Candidates would not have to be wealthy to participate in the process. They must campaign and collect contributions in the district they wish to represent. This would make it extremely difficult for career politicians to switch states or public offices if they are unknown to the people in the district.

Business and special interest groups would be able to express their opinions by paying for publicly televised debates via commercial air time. This would ensure that all sides get to express their points of view to the public WHILE the debates are occurring. This will reveal agendas thus increasing discussion among the electorate.

Since politics has a tendency to get “racy” with ads and propaganda, viewership is bound to increase and people might become more educated and involved in the political process. The only people who will be left out of this process are people who are not registered voters. These people are left out of the process anyway.

The only way I see how the Tea Party candidates are hurting the GOP is when a Tea Party supported candidate upseats an incumbent big spending RINO Republican. But the GOP had better listen up. Those type of candidates need to go. If the GOP insists on keep these RINOs just to maintain a majority, then they need to know the Tea Party may form thier own party. Then the Republicans and Democrats would both be in big trouble.

It’s about getting back to the Constitution, they will back the best candidate that will fulfill that agenda. But since you and the other liberals want to make them political. It might happen in 2012. What do have to say that a Tea Party Candidate run against your mesiah Obama. Republicans are not perfect and they have made mistakes. But the Tea Party and its organization will keep them in line with the views of the people, instead of cramming junk bills down the people’s throats. They sure will know exactly what’s in the bill before it gets passed.

They think that it is their God given right to be in government. Just like Mulowski or whatever her name is for Alaska. Instead of endorsing the candidate that the Alaskan People wanted. Tea party is not about left vs right, democrat vs repubilcan. It is about the people vs the government.

Yes, we are angry, but our anger is especially reserved for Republicans who do not hold the line against massive government intrusion and spending away our future and put us at risk.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with our ideology of Conservatism. The problem is Republicans not being able to stand on those principles and values. When they fail to do that they become part of the problem which is this view that we were created and born to insure government has its due. The private sector does not exist to prop and support government welfare.

No truer words written. I strongly agree.

My personal view is our Tea Party conservative philosophy comes down to personal responsibility and personal accountability. We want each America to earn a living or to be accountable for not doing so. Seems a lot of our anger comes from supporting those who will not earn a living. We are angry so many are free loading on our backs, which includes foreign nations.

This is, of course, Obama’s socialist “spread the wealth around” philosophy.

I believe this is why so many of us are mad; taking our hard earned money to give to welfare rats.

I received this in an email and thought it was worth posting as a reminder of what and when things happened….. please cut and paste if you agree

    Remember January 3, 2007

…… I don‘t understand WHY the people running for office don’t say this in their ads!!!

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009 it was actually January 3, 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, the start of the 110th Congress.

The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault”, think about this:

January 3, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:
    At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

    The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

    Remember the day.

January 3, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

    BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Thank Congress for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment to this CRISIS by dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac fiasco’s!

(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001, because it was financially risky for the U.S. economy, but no one was listening).

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA.

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie??? OBAMA and the Democratic Congress.

So when someone tries to blame Bush…
REMEMBER JANUARY 3, 2007…. THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!”

Bush may have been in the car, but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving. Set the record straight on Bush!

So, as you listen to all the commercials and media from the Democrats who are now distancing themselves from their voting record and their party, remember how they didn‘t listen to you when you said you didn’t want all the bailouts, you didn’t want the health care bill, you didn’t want cap and trade, you didn‘t want them to continue spending money we don’t have.

I’m not forgetting their complicity in getting us into this mess, and I’ll be marking my vote accordingly!

He had his faults as we all do, and there were thinkgs I didn’t agree with him on, but our economy, up until 2007 was reasonably good. I believe he is a decent, honorable man. I can’t say the same for Obama. He is out to destroy our country, and we CAN’T let him get by with it. We FIRST have to take back our Congress, and that won’t happen we let ourselves get sidetracked with disagreements. If there is a clear Tea PARTY, I will be behind it, and I think most independents, and conservatives will also. However, if not, we cant afford to split the ticket. There has to be a CLEAR GOP candidate, ONLY ONE, and we will have to bite the bullet and get behind him/her.

I tell liberals this all the time, it does no good. Liberals have some weird idea that the president is king and ruler over the whole US. Perhaps, they want it that way so they have someone to blame other than themselves when things don’t work out. Liberals do not seem to understand how congress works. They think that the president makes the laws, when in reality, the Speaker of the House and President Pro-Tem are just as powerful as the president when it comes to MAKING law.

It’s merely ignorance on the part of some liberals and downright selfishness and stupidity on the part of others.

Party affilliation is secondary, electing responsible conservatives is the only solution

I’m a front row witness to the Colorado battles. Buck faces more negative political ads than anytime I can remember, all of which take quotes completely out of context and make wild assumptions about him. However, he is still leading the race here, and seems to come out ahead when debating face-to-face with Bennett. Maes on the other hand is in the tank. The Tea Party did in fact back a poor candidate, but seemed to be the proper choice during the primaries. Now Maes is refusing to drop from the race, even with only 13% of the vote here. Having essentially two Repubs in the race has given the Dem candidate a 10 point lead, and unless the Tea Party backed candidate drops out, our state will hand the Governorship to a Dem through division.

Maes has no respect for his own state, is only worried about his own image, and would rather give the state to the Hickelooper than support Tancredo. It makes me sick. Come on, Maes supporters, you can’t just vote “R” this year – please support Tancredo, or prepare for a Dem in control for four more years.

Rogue, thanks for the update on my birth state, I‘ve been worried about how it’s going.there, and I’m so disappointed in Scott. I knew him years ago, and apparently he’s lost his way. I heard a ‘pundit’ the other day say he thought Tancredo could surprise folks. I guess we will see. Hey, the TEA parties have a pretty good track record, but we can‘t expect for perfection unless it’s Jesus we’re talking about, right?

I agree with your observations, but only to a point. Dan Maes is bought and paid for by the DEMOCRAT partei. He received $500K from them to get him over the top during the primaries and have now deserted him now that he’s served his purpose. Maes is only staying in the race because the campaign funds are the first steady income he’s seen in quite some time.
The reason for being fired (with prejudice) from the Liberal, KS police dept is because he RATTED OUT HIS OWN DEPT people under investigation at the time. So Maes is a liar, a failed businessman, and actually the SECOND Democrat in the race.
Fortunately, it appears that Tancredo will pull a win out of this after all.

Scott Baker opens with, “Colorado Republicans are hosting a campaign tea party this fall….”

I have noticed a sudden change in attitude by the national level GOP sans Michael Steele.

Jan Larimer, RNC Co-Chairman, is now sending out email blasts in support of Sarah Palin and Tea Party candidates. Some recent email subject lines of many from Larimer:

“Sarah Palin Wants To Meet You”
    “Fight Back With Diane Black”
    “Reminder: Sarah Palin Victory Rallies”

Virtually all email from Jan Larimer targets women and in some fashion links to the Tea Party. In all cases, Larimer is asking for donations to the RNC.

There is a noticeable absence of email from Michael Steele; he is gagged.

Previously the GOP kept a great distance from Tea Party types including issuing disparaging comments about the Tea Party and actively campaigning against Tea Party candidates such as the GOP backing left liberal Dede Scozzafava over in the New York 23rd district.

This false facade being erected by the GOP began when Tea Party candidates won many primaries across America. With those wins, suddenly the GOP became a part of Tea Party activism. Truth is the GOP has latched onto the coattails of the Tea Party for a free ride. Intent of the GOP is to salvage as many career Republican politicians as possible by falsely claiming affinity with the Tea Party.

Readers are to never forget the GOP has been working against us for decades, and readers are to not forget the GOP is now deceitfully claiming to support our Tea Party conservative efforts.

This is all a ruse by the GOP.

I am electing to share some dialog from “inside” the GOP. I have never shared this information previously, consider this a first for The Blaze.

When the GOP opened the “new” GOP web site, my first objective was to worm my way up into the hierarchy of the GOP. I was successful at this to a point of receiving a job offer from the GOP and to a point of my being able to manipulate Michael Steele.

This is a revealing comment from Alexa Moutevelis, New Media Manager for the Republican National Committee over in Washington, D.C.

“There are also the pressures of some of the higher-ups who are not used to having such an open forum where members can criticize the Party.”

This comment from Moutevelis is in response to my raising hell up and down the GOP executive levels for consistently censoring out articles of mine at the GOP, articles which were critiques of the GOP. Ironically the GOP welcomes critique through a written message to all GOP members but when critiques are published for Americans to read, the GOP instantly removes those critiques.

Another insightful comment from Moutevelis is an offer of a job for me within the GOP,

“You are a valued member of the forums, it would be great if you could act as a representative of the members on the OurGOP forums….”

This is part of an offer of a position of my being a liaison between the public and the GOP. Problem encountered is high level GOP leaders, including Michael Steele, could not successfully engage in dialog with angry Americans. The GOP asked me to be a “buffer” between the GOP and a public angry with the GOP. I accepted this position, worked very hard to be successful at this. Americans were very cooperative and displayed good faith. However, the GOP did not keep their end of this bargain, the GOP attempted to use me as a tool to deceive our American public. I refused to lie which prompted Moutevelis to tell me,

“I absolutely understand your need to speak the truth….”

You can read her “but” coming. Moutevelis was simply playing a game, simply trying to play me.

I pressured the GOP to have leaders appear in a forum at the GOP. I advised them having GOP leaders take part in public discussions would lend well to enhancing GOP credibility. I did manage to have Michael Steel appear once and only once. Moutevelis confirmed an appearance for me,

“I hope to have Chairman Steele make an appearance on the forums this week….”

Steele appeared and simply presented a lame question for the public to discuss. Steele presented a topic then vanished. Americans asked a lot of questions of Steele, he never replied. He never appeared again nor did other GOP leaders ever appear. This was a token appearance but served to confirm I could manipulate Steele, hopefully for the good.

I have hundreds of examples like this of my worming into the GOP to effect positive changes and to have truth known for the American public. The GOP never allowed truth to be revealed.

The GOP engaged in Iron Fist censorship to control the message, this served to destroy public trust in the GOP. Here at The Blaze, censorship is also employed and this clearly carries risk.

Many here become angry with my blunt truths. Until now, none here were aware of how my truths come about; inside information. I know none here, including staff, have successfully breached this wall surrounding the GOP as I have, nor have breached Capitol Hill. Worming my way into the GOP and into Capitol Hill was a snap. This only requires being a better game player than those inside the Beltway. Worming my way into other political organizations such as Tea Party groups and politically active religious organizations is much easier, no more than a wiggle of my little finger.

Scott Baker writes “…potential and peril generated by a political movement….”

You have no idea. Right now the GOP is desperate to remain a viable political organization and there is no level so low to which the GOP will not stoop to cling to its corrupt political power over our nation.

This sudden GOP backing of the Tea Party is a ruse, a ploy, a facade, a desperate act by the GOP to not have the Tea Party pull the life support plug on the GOP.

I say pull the plug. I know the GOP inside and out, literally. The GOP is not worth saving.

Taha, yes you are blunt and speak your mind. I like that trait as long as it respects a person’s sincere feelings and beliefs, political or religious.

The only “censorship” there may be on the Blaze centers around name calling and vicious remarks. The only way to have “censorship” is to have every post passed on by moderators. This is NOT done at the Blaze.

I’m impressed with your attempts to get the GOP back on track for liberty and Constitutional government. This is NOT meant in anyway to offend BUT do you think you’re being a Native American had anything to do with your hirng.. a token NA but who wouldn’t be used as such? CONTRARIAN THINKER comments, “Taha, yes you are blunt and speak your mind.”

Boy howdy! I am a lite version of myself here at The Blaze. Other places, Helen Wheels. Have I told you about the time, decades back, Republican Christopher Cox had me literally physically tossed out from a fund raiser of his? Good thing my landing gear is big and fat, my sidewalk landing was rough and hard.

CONTRARIAN THINKER adds, “The only way to have ‘censorship’ is to have….”

I am passing along a warning to the staff of The Blaze. Doubtful staff will read my comments. Simply a hint of censorship will destroy a web site like this. I am reading increasing numbers of objections to censorship here at The Blaze. I count one person who has abandoned this web site because of censorship. Begins with one, then droves follow as happened to the GOP.

CONTRARIAN THINKER asks, “This is NOT meant in anyway to offend BUT do you think you’re being a Native American had anything to do with your hirng.. a token NA but who wouldn’t be used as such?”

This is difficult to gauge. I know sincerity and insincerity in words. However, motivation behind words is challenging to determine when words are chosen carefully. Over at the GOP, this liaison position was sincere but motivation was massive loss of participants because of psychotic censorship. This offer came about through the GOP recognizing my talent with words and recognizing participants held high respect for me. I suppose the GOP saw this as an “opportunity”.

My end of the bargain is I would encourage participants to remain, attract new participants and work at soothing anger of participants. This part of my mine worked. However, failure was the eventual outcome because the GOP did not honor their end of this bargain. At lower levels of administration of the GOP, there was cooperation. However, Steele and Larimer stepped in and demanded tighter control over the message; censorship. Steele and Larimer, others at high levels, will not allow critique of the GOP.

Related to your token American Indian question, a comment to me from high levels in the GOP:

“You can be sure your thread on Obama gathering Indians for slaughter makes many nervous. Although the thread is thoughtful and fleshed out, the Huffington Post could have a field day by only drawing attention to the title….”

I think this comment there came down from Michael Steele’s office.

My article addressed Obama taking advantage of the Crow tribe who made Obama an honorary tribal member. Obama has no intention of helping American Indians. Obama meeting with the Crow was simply a political ploy by Obama to convince America, “I am on the side of Indians.“ Obama was simply using American Indians as a ”token” to further his political ambition.

My published article at the GOP was titled, “Obama Gathers Indians For Slaughter”.

This is a rather eye catching title and intent is to attract readers, to promote discussion. This title had Steele and Larimer wet their pants, or panties in the case of Larimer. Their concern is left liberals would spin my title into something evil and horrible. High level leaders at the GOP are too ignorant to realize this is what I intended; bait in left liberals for slaughter as my ancestors did to Custer.

This evidences the GOP is fearfully politically correct, afraid to be bluntly truthful.

Body of my article was appreciated being well written and being a critique of Obama for patronizing Indians. Title of my article struck fear in their loins. In this sense, Contrarian Thinker, yes, the GOP displayed an attitude of patronizing me because I am an American Indian; they feared my reaction.

Whether or not my position as a liaison was simply as a “Token Indian” I must be truthful, I do not know. However, I do know the concealed agenda of the GOP was to have me beguile Americans. I refused to do this leading to many contentious exchanges between GOP leadership and me.

I am an American Indian truth speaker. I will not dishonor my ancestors nor my family by being less.

Contrarian Thinker, good question. Thank you. By-the-by, quit worrying so much, this is not like I will scalp you. Speak your mind, this is what I expect of you and encourage you to do. You know I will speak my mind. Boy howdy!

DOC SLAMMIN understands, “The whole thing wreaks of collusion and leaves me wondering, exactly what the GOP ‘plan’ is.”

Yes, sir, sure enough. Whatever this “plan” of the GOP, I am certain their plan is not in keeping with a true conservative philosophy. My personal opinion is the GOP is shaken by so many Tea Party wins, the GOP is in an absolute panic. We are kicking GOP butt every which way but loose.

If a GOP plan, this is most likely damage control. Quite clear the GOP was approaching extinction and if not for the Tea Party the GOP would be, de facto, extinct. A price the GOP is paying for our keeping the GOP on life support is giving up many of their congressional and senate seats. There are just about enough Tea Party seats to be won to support a Tea Party Congressional Caucus.

My prediction is in 2012, we will win more seats, congressional and senate, enough to form a true congressional caucus. To be truthful, I am surprised by how much power we have gained in such a short period of time; I underestimated how mad are Americans. With our power growing so quick, by 2012 I believe we can elect a Tea Party president, or a president who sides with our cause. This will mark the beginning of bringing the federal government under control.

I am reading good news of late. The Democrats have abandoned many of their congressional seats and a few senate seats. They have simply conceded defeat before November elections. Those seats are being given up to Tea Party candidates or Republicans who have Tea Party support.

Other good news is the GOP is conceding control of the GOP to the Tea Party. Not officially but the GOP is sure working at appearing to be part of our Tea Party; they know we own them. However, we need to be wary of GOP deceit; there are still a lot of RINO types in office, like John McCain.

2012 will usher in real “shock and awe” for career politicians. We are winning but must not ever relax nor let down our guard. This momentum we have going needs to continue and become more powerful so we can take back our America in 2012. We must constantly keep after Capitol Hill.

We have two adversaries, the Democrats and the Republicans. We are in for a serious fight requiring us to persistently remain on the offense.

Truth is she is worse than Helen Wheels, she is downright ornery and aggravating, she is a trouble maker.
Taha can be found all over the web scalping liberals with her words and pushing conservatives to stand firm.
I have witnessed her being banished from various websites.
I did, in fact, witness the whole GOP blog incident, though I did not see firsthand the emails she got from Jan Larimer. I did read the blogs and I did read Taha’s commentary. Her assessment is correct. I too was pushing back at the GOP on their website. I can assure you that they weren’t listening to conservative voices.
The GOP elites still believe they can control the dialogue. The joke is on them. Tea Party activists can see through their attempts at retaining the tiny bit of power they have left.
You don’t have to look any farther than Delaware to see “Republican” party spin. The morning after the primary we were all shocked to hear Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer beating up Christine O’Donnell for her win over Mike Castle. The Republican Party is sending me donation requests from the national, state and local levels . They are using tea party-esque verbiage in an attempt to attract my dollars. They aren’t getting any of my money. I am sending my money to conservative candidates directly. Christine O’Donnell and Carl Paladino are among the candidates that have gotten my money.
It is the GOP who have been marginalized and not the Tea Party. The Tea Party Activists will be the ones to bring the country back to greatness.

Oh great, just when I have everyone here fooled, my girlfriend walks in wearing a Michelle Obama Green Thing, walks in to tell the truth about me.

SORAYA issues a dire warning, “…worse than Helen Wheels… ornery… aggravating… trouble maker… all over the web scalping liberals….”

Hey! I am not that bad! You know I am using those left liberal scalps to make a soft and warm quilt for our bed. I am practicing left liberal energy conservation! I am recycling! I just hope those left liberal scalps do not turn moldy green although green is good these days.

SORAYA continues to taunt me, “I have witnessed her being banished from various websites.”

Shh.. quiet! You will scare people into thinking I am a wild eyed crazy injun squaw. Just because my name means “crazy” does not mean I am, although I am.

A lucid moment here. Soraya is being truthful. I take our conservative cause serious enough to risk being banished from web sites, and I have been banished from a lot of web sites like Smart Girl Politics and Women of the Web; conservative versus liberal. Problem I encounter whether a conservative site or a liberal site is people cannot deal with blunt truth. What our America needs the most, critically needs, is blunt truth. Our nation is in a real mess, a severe mess. We arrived in this mess because all of us deceived ourselves and deceived everyone else. For decades we have been fooling ourselves, been ignoring the writing on the wall, lying about everything, and now we are faced with the consequences of our foolishness; possible loss of our nation through bankruptcy and socialist tyranny. We must be truthful, bluntly truthful, if to get ourselves out of this mess.

SORAYA confesses, “I did, in fact, witness the whole GOP blog incident…Her assessment is correct. I too was pushing back…they weren’t listening to conservative voices.”

You surely did fight back, fiercely. Now look where you are, stuck here at The Blaze with me! However, you have yet to enjoy this honor of being banished from a political web site!

Soraya and I did take on the GOP establishment back in 2008 and 2009. Our efforts proved fruitless because of GOP arrogance. Those boys believed themselves to be masters of the universe. Obama swatted them down like flies, voters kicked those GOP boys out of office and today Tea Party people are simply trashing the GOP. This is what arrogance will get you. I push “humility” here at The Blaze on a regular basis. We Tea Party types are too never become arrogant like the GOP, this will defeat our efforts, this will destroy us just as career politician arrogance has destroyed our America.

SORAYA is annoyed, “GOP elites still believe they can control the dialogue…don’t have to look any farther than Delaware to see ‘Republican’ party spin… we were all shocked to hear Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer beating up Christine O’Donnell….”

Arrogance at its worst. Rove, Krauthammer, other Republican leaders were not mad at O’Donnell rather they were mad Americans refused to bend the knee before those arrogant boys. Arrogance is so severe inside the Beltway, career politicians truly and sincerely believe themselves the ruling class, Republicans and Democrats alike. Those folks view all of us as the unwashed masses. Their anger is truly about our refusing to no longer grovel on the ground before them, and Americans have been licking their boots for decades.

This is our fault. Each of us, every American, is to blame. We took to chasing after the almighty buck and egotistical material goods in exchange for escalating career politicians to a status of princesses, princes, queens and kings. We gave up our dignity and gave up our freedom simply for a plasma television in every home. We sold our dignity for a cheap price.

Now we, all of us, are responsible to admit our mistakes and to correct our mistakes. We owe this to our children and to our grandchildren who do and will suffer because of our self-centered foolishness.

Okpulot Taha says, “We have two adversaries, the Democrats and the Republicans. We are in for a serious fight requiring us to persistently remain on the offense.”

Using a 5000 year leap analogy… The two wings of the eagle on the national seal represent the left and right wing parties. The left represents the liberal who looks out for social needs while the right represents the conservative who pushes for financial responsibility. Both are equal in importance in size and scope. If the eagle’s left or right wing become to big, the bird can not fly…. first it starts circling itself, then it inevitably falls and is unable to take flight again until it’s wings are equalized.

Currently, the eagle is chasing it’s tail in a downward spiral. This is, IMHO, specifically the GOP’s fault. Instead of embracing conservative values, they have joined (en mass) the left wing in socialization leaving conservative constituents voiceless in Congress. The result? Too many social programs with little to no way to pay for them and a federal deficit that exponentially increases.

When the eagle hits the ground, it’s gonna hurt everyone. The question is, will the impact kill the eagle or will it get up and fly again?

SORAYA concludes, “The Tea Party Activists will be the ones to bring the country back to greatness.”

We Tea Party types, if willing to sacrifice and work hard, we will go down in history as modern day Wild West heroines and heroes. We are Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok, both of whom drank hard, rode hard and shot straight from the hip. We will be noted in history as those who restored our national pride by saving our home, America.

I will admonish, we will only save our nation through self sacrifice and hard work. We are to never become smug and arrogant. We have a decade long battle ahead of us, we must persevere. This is not easy, this requires each of us give much in keeping with our American patriotic duty.

Some cheer leading here. My dearest of girlfriends, Sylvia Soraya, gives of herself daily. She is away from home working as a volunteer for a Tea Party candidate over in New York. She is accountant, she is working hard as a bookkeeper and working hard making sure her candidate is compliant with campaign fund laws. Her candidate is Assemblyman Greg Ball who is now a candidate for New York State Senate’s 40th District.

Soraya not only tends to his books and campaign fund laws, she also appears on television and presents speeches before big crowds. Sometimes I help Soraya with speech writing. She is to give another speech next Wednesday.

Soraya gives of herself on a daily basis, her family supports her by pitching in and taking care of home duties so Soraya will have time to actively campaign for and work for Tea Party candidate, Greg Ball.

Soraya serves as a shining icon of what our Tea Party represents; selfless dedication to America.

I must ask, are you, the reader, making the same sacrifices for our nation? You can help out Soraya by helping out her candidate, Greg Ball of New York. A small donation, a little campaigning, you really do owe this to Soraya for her giving so much of herself for our Tea Party cause.

Soraya will scalp me for this. She is humble. She does not want people to know how hard she works for our Tea Party cause.

She told secrets about me, now all of you know a secret about her; Soraya is a true American patriotic.

So truth be told, Greg is an outsider to the Republican machine, he fought a tough primary battle to become the Republican Candidate for New York’s 40th Senate District.
He is a good man and a Tea Party minded legislator. He will work hard to bring New York back to a fiscally sound state.

I also strongly support Steve Katz, the Republican candidate for the 99th Assembly seat in New York.
Steve’s interest in becoming an Assemblyman began as he attended tea party rallies and town hall meetings. He will be a citizen legislator. Steve is also an outsider to the GOP machine. He too had a tough primary battle and was chosen by the people.
Both Steve Katz and Greg Ball will serve the people of New York with moral conviction.

You did say I am ornery.

DOC SLAMMIN invites trouble, “…invites Okpulot Taha and Sylvia Soraya…participate in his blog.”

You are asking for trouble! Finished reading your blog entries. You have two on religion which are of special interest to me.

You write over there, “Politics requires you put your faith in a man you voted into office, while religion requires you to put your faith in God. When either are run by extremists and/or elitists, great masses of people suffer.”

This is ironically true for this topic under discussion in this blog. This is obvious our politicians, until now, view themselves as elitists, and America does suffer as you write.

I like your broad discussions on legislative process, different religions of the world and the controversial Arizona law on illegal aliens which I strongly support and this does remind me of state’s rights under our 10th Amendment.

A topic which both The Blaze and the GOP are missing out on is Eric Holder and Barack Obama announcing they will defeat a proposed law in California, proposition 19 to legalize marijuana. I suggested this topic to The Blaze as a 10th Amendment issue, no dice, not interested.

This 10th Amendment issue is not being addressed by the GOP, and this issue is a golden opportunity to slam Democrats. This is an issue which could be used to attack Obama and Democrats on both flanks: failed war on drugs and suppression of state’s rights.

This war on drugs is a failure and is costing us taxpayers billions of dollars and a lot of lives. Legalizing marijuana would just about cripple Mexican drug cartels and resolve much of this “border wars” problem in Arizona and other border states.

Your blog article on Arizona indirectly references a more serious issue; Obama suppressing state rights. We know Obama and Holder are squashing the right of Arizona citizens to protect themselves through legislation. Now Obama and Holder are telling California they will send in federal law enforcement agents to enforce their own federal laws in California, state law be damned.

This stinks of Obama imposing a “police state” upon America and Obama is imposing a police state upon us which is another step in the direction of socialist tyranny.

An equally important issue is GOP Republican leaders are so arrogant and self-righteous, they are deliberately ignoring Obama and Holder trashing our 10th Amendment guarantees. The GOP does not like pot heads which is unimportant. The GOP is allowing squashing of state‘s 10th Amendment guarantees because they don’t like pot heads. This evidences the GOP has no interest is upholding our Constitution and evidences GOP elitists are not patriotic Americans.

So, yes, you are right, we do suffer when elitists are in control; we lose our freedoms.

I am dismayed neither The Blaze nor the GOP are willing to take up this issue of state sovereignty being squashed by the White House and by the Department of Justice.

The GOP is doing more harm to itself than our Tea Party is doing harm to the GOP.

DOC SLAMMIN, nice blog you have over there. Now get busy and write more articles! I am interested in reading more of your thoughts.

DOC SLAMMIN asks, “The question is, will the impact kill the eagle or will it get up and fly again?”

America will rise from the ashes like a phoenix.

This will happen, America will become the greatest nation on earth again if Tea Party types are willing to sacrifice and willing to work hard to help America again fly like an eagle. Our future is in our hands. We are responsible for our future. We are accountable for our nation’s success or failure.

Okpulot Taha writes “You are asking for trouble! Finished reading your blog entries. You have two on religion which are of special interest to me.”

I relish debate and love to be educated on points I happen to miss. If this is inviting trouble, then I would like trouble to head my way. :)

Okpulot Taha flatters me by saying, “I like your broad discussions on legislative process, different religions of the world and the controversial Arizona law on illegal aliens which I strongly support and this does remind me of state’s rights under our 10th Amendment.”

To me, religion, politics, and economics mean everything to the success of this country. Arizona being included in a UN human rights violation report stinks of the most dirty type of politics there is. If Arizona has violated human rights by adhering to court decision, then our court system is guilty also and should be reported…. along with our legislators.

Okpulot Taha writes, “This war on drugs is a failure and is costing us taxpayers billions of dollars and a lot of lives. Legalizing marijuana would just about cripple Mexican drug cartels and resolve much of this “border wars” problem in Arizona and other border states.”

This is a topic that I have discussed in depth with MANY people. Marijuana should be legalized and controlled in the same way alcohol is. It is less dangerous than alcohol. Unlike alcohol and many other controlled substances, marijuana is NOT physically addicting and requires no weening of the drug to quit. There are medical purposes that a valid for using marijuana…. and I could go on and on. Come to think of it, maybe this will be the topic of my next post. ;)

Once again, I am humble by Okputot Taha’s assessment, “DOC SLAMMIN, nice blog you have over there. Now get busy and write more articles! I am interested in reading more of your thoughts.”

Thank you. Now that I have ‘invited trouble to my blog’, I hope to be ‘corrected’ if I lose sight of my conservative roots. I also hope to help hard core conservatives try to understand the importance of the sane liberal view point. America needs ‘some’ social programs in order to maintain ‘decency’. Where I differ with most liberal is whether the social program should come from state, local, and charitable organizations or whether the federal government should control these things. The federal government is simply not set up to administer social programs effectively to all states.

      Star thanks for the info.

We have gotten so used to “centrist” politics which have moved to the left for many years. Remember that the great statesman Barry Goldwater was painted effectively as an extremist.

I wonder what the MSM and others would say to someone who said “either you’re for me or your against me: can’t serve two masters? ” oopos, that was Jesus Christ. Can‘t be just luewarm or you’ll be spit out of God’s mouth. NOW… that’s extreme. (grin)

Same problem in New York state. RINO New York City Rick Lazio lost to Rochester millionaire Carl Paladino, with lots of skeletons in his closet. While he speaks about reducing debt and taxes, his moral terpitude is lacking – aka, an adulterous affair which produced an illegitimate child. Can you trust a man like that? Did his wife? What other moral deficits does he possess? It doesn’t matter, however, because he’s going to lose to the nepotism of New York City politics. Andrew Cuomo will be elected to save New York and he will do nothing for us. Cronyism will remain. In the meantime, the state is going bankrupt with their big gov’t, overspending, outrageous pay, benefits and healthcare for state workers. We’re screwed. Our only alternative is to leave the state, which we will do in about six years. Good bye, New York. The state we love. The politics we hate.

We need to have more Tea Party candidates willing to run in the same race with some background checks being made by some type of Elected Committee to insure that we don’t get people who might badly embarrass the Tea Party principles. If the GOP or DP want to attack us on our stands on issues that’s fine with me. BUT.. let’s be honest here, we do have some candidates with shaky backgrounds morally and otherwise. This happens with any emerging, successful movement. We MUST dialogue honestly and learn from our mistakes.

And New York DESERVES what it gets! You either learn and change, or continue down the same road to ultimate collapse, and change is forced on you from the outside. The laws of Economics cannot be changed, they cannot be bargained with, they always WIN. And the people of New York will LOSE.

Yes, Palidino did have a legitimate child, and the democraps are going after him. But he is supporting that child and is not trying to hide the fact. If you want to ask that question about skeletons, then let all the Demos start cleaning out their closets.

California sunk because of people looking past the “economic woes” and voting strictly on social issues…they’ve put the cart before the horse so to speak. Social issues are important but not at the expense of your state.

The conservatives say we have “Changed what it means to be conservative?”

The Left says we are “extremists?”

Actually we have done both, we want to restore the constitution and people control of government; along the way we are “extremely” teed off at the way the arrogance of the current ruling class has become!!!

For once it seems both sides, from a certain point of view, are actually correct.

Even a Progressive can occasionally get it right by sheer luck or happenstance.

Vote November – May the Almighty lift our country out of the clouds of oppression and back into the light of His safety and knowledge.
