Tea Party Gets Its Own Colonial America TV Show — Made by Tea Partiers

Tea Party Gets Its Own Colonial America TV Show Made by Tea Partiers
Tea Partiers now have their own TV show. Literally.

A group of Tea Party members in California are about to premier the first hour-long episode of a new series called “Courage, New Hampshire,” which follows early colonial Americans.

“I’d like to concentrate on some of the regular folk who made the Revolution possible,” James Patrick Riley, the man behind the show and its production company, told The Hollywood Reporter (THR), “mix the narrative tension of The Sopranos and the redemptive, heroic American exceptionalism of Frank Capra.”

“Most TV sitcoms and dramas tend to depict conservatives and traditionalists and people of faith as halfwits. That tactic lost its edge about four decades ago and we think it’s time to turn the tables,” he added.

The first episode, titled “The Travail of Sarah Pine,“ follows a colonial woman who accuses a British soldier of ”bastardy.” It’s premiering at a theater in Monrovia, CA on Sunday. After that, it will head straight to DVD as Riley and his company, Colony Bay, look for a distribution partner. You can watch the trailer for the first episode below:

So who is Riley? THR gives a little more background on him and his business partner:

Colony Bay was founded by James Patrick Riley and Jonathan Wilson, who started in Hollywood as an assistant in ICM’s motion picture literary department and became director of development for Peter Hyams, working on films like End of Days with Arnold Schwarzenegger. They met when Wilson was forming the Pasadena chapter of Tea Partiers and he recruited Riley, an experienced Patrick Henry impersonator, to perform at an event.

Tea Party Gets Its Own Colonial America TV Show Made by Tea Partiers

The episode was filmed on Riley’s sprawling, 760-acre apple and pear farm. And even though the film and its producers are Tea Partiers, Riley admits that he’s not opposed to employing liberals. In fact, he told THR, “We have cast members who are raging leftists.”

But despite Hollywood’s reputation for harboring those leftists, Riley said the city actually has its share of conservatives.

“I was surprised to learn how many Tea Partiers there are in Hollywood,” Riley said. “Most won’t talk about it, though.”

Part of the problem with the TEA party perceptions by folks who don’t really understand the process is our presentation. They see people in 3 cornered hats and colonial dress as odd and stale which is hard to argue. Recent surveys illuminate that most young folks have no true concept of history nor do they want to. The left comes across as being more hip, cool, and relevant to voters and, as such, does a much better job of marketing their ideas. Jon Stewart is an example as he uses humor and current examples in his presentations. If we could kick it up to a more current and immediate relevancy in our presentation, with a little humor, we may cross over enough to get the minority and youth vote that could make a difference. Just saying………….

Try and keep things civil dude. No need to be rude. You made my point. There is an audience out there that is being missed by the TEA party. Some might be idiots but they are being influenced by people like him. Being ham handed, as in your response, cetainly doesn’t encourge them to think otherwise about us or our policies. We need to be their bridge to reality not push them away from it.

What? The Nation wasn’t founded by black folk? You mean “colonialism” doesn’t just happen unless you set back and let it? If you are satisfied with being lorded over by a ‘caretaker’ you didn’t care enough about your freedom/liberties to stand? Why are their no Mexicans cities? I’m so confused..

Finally a counterpoint to the revisionist history esposed by the left. Perhaps enough of our fine citizens will take interest and figure out how America really did come about and the reasons why the Constitution is written as it is. Why we demanded independance from England? And how we grew as a young nation because of the freedoms to inovate and to profit from our ideas and creations.

You don’t see Michael Moor hiring conservatives. Besides, as long as the message is correct who cares if the actor was from the left or right wing. People need jobs today in America, and we should over look politics and provide them.

Not everything can be conservative. There has to be a balance. If we want musicians and artists, then we need people who think with the other side of their brain. They aren’t ALL bad people, they just think differently. Sometimes, we just need to agree to disagree and get on with living.

Actually, it’s because so many actors are Professionals, who strive to be and do exactly as they are being directed, working as team members effectively, and while they are on the cast they are able to suspend their beliefs and suppress their true emotions to get the job done. It’s just a job.
