Tea Party Mayor Who Turned Down Fed Loan Tells The Blaze About the Recall Effort Against Her

Tea Party Mayor Janice L Daniels of Troy, MI, voted to reject an $8.5 million federal loan that was supposed to finance a transportation center connected to the Detroit to Chicago Amtrak network, The Blaze reported earlier this week.
Now, after having one of two petitions approved by “clarity committee,” a PAC called Recall Janice Daniels is determined to collect approximately 8,000 signatures within a 90-day period to place a recall question on the ballot, according to the Ann Arbor-based news outlet MLive.
“The Oakland County Election Commission – Oakland County Clerk Bill Bullard, Oakland Probate Judge Linda Hallmark and Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner – voted unanimously to approve the language of the group’s first petition during a clarity hearing in Pontiac,” TroyPatch’s Jen Anesi reports.
What’s the stated reason on the petition for recalling Daniels? You guessed it: turning down the fed loan.
“My political opponents have filed paperwork to recall me even though I am only 3 months into my first ever term as an elected official,” Daniels told The Blaze in an email. “One of the reasons for the recall is my vote against accepting the $8.4M from our federal government for a project that will be a debt burden upon people who are not yet born for a transit center that even the proponents agree there is limited demand.”
Matt Binkowski, the petition’s sponsor, says they plan to move forward with the recall efforts.
“We’re pleased we can move forward,” he said. “We have plans to begin collecting signatures mid-month.”
Binkowski said Recall Janice Daniels has a “core group of about a dozen individuals,” according to Anesi, though “hundreds have written or called to voice their support and volunteer to collect signatures.”
“We do have a plan in place” for collecting signatures, Binkowski told Anesi. “It’s going to be a lot of leg work.”
Despite what may prove to be a lengthy and costly distraction, Mayor Daniels told The Blaze she plans to focus on what she considers the more serious issues at hand.
“I am continuing my work on providing full disclosure to the taxpayers of Troy with regards to the important uses of their tax dollars. The recall is a distraction but I simply refuse to let the politics of personal destruction get in the way of my goals of fiscal responsibility, transparency in government, and open communications with the citizens of Troy,” Daniels told The Blaze in an email.
A few examples?
“So far, this new council and I have been able to get the city check register, employee salaries, and union contracts online for examination by the people,” she added.

Posted on March 3, 2012 at 8:14amMayor Daniels knows the truth of the matter. The push for rail is part of UN Agenda 21 sustainable development. What is considered unsustainable? Well, one is Paved roads. The long-range UN plan is very few private autos and mass transit via rail so we can all be settled on 5% of the land with restricted use of that 5%. The UN government is going to control every aspect of human life. The government schools have been educating the children to be citizens of the world with no alliance to a country or family. Walkable cities cities with highly restricted mobility. Why else cash for clunkers; new auto now cost what a home cost in the 70′s; why high gas prices….AGENDA 21 !

Posted on March 3, 2012 at 1:31pmMany large cities are facing this same issue. Getting government funds to build rail lines and then having to support them with monies that the city cannot afford. It is a boondoggle. It costs millions of dollars to build a light-rail line for a very short distance, but the money to keep it going is a burden to taxpayers.

As it is there are toll roads in that route and I don’t think they are making money on that route. Fulton County (Birmingham) actually went backrupt. Borrowing money for temporary jobs won’t cut it. I do have a solution though; repeal NAFTA/GATT and the jobs will come back. At some point, the States will realize that they are sending taxpayer money to DC, and DC is sending it back to the States with strings attached. Must make sense to someone, but in all fairness, it is extortion and theft.
But, of course, a taker such as yourself needs this process to happen, or you would just end up a statistic.

Allen West…a disgraced military man who will be re-deistricted out of a job. And the poster boy Marco Rubio who lost a pretty big vote on a bill he co-sponored just yesterday I believe!

Posted on March 2, 2012 at 9:07pmWell there, troll… to answer your question, the unemployment rate in Troy, MI is well below the national average. It considers itself an affluent suburb of Detroit.
This mayor’s opponents have attacked her and called for her resignation on another baseless claim in her first month in office.
In addition, there are two Amtrack stops within 5 miles and a local bus system that can get you to either within 10 minutes.
This is the city that was threatened with the closure of the public library if a general fund millage was not approved. The citizens banded together, voted it down, and petitioned for a library only millage which passed in a landslide. The citizen’s banded together against tyranny.
But not a month ago, Trans. Sec. LaHood rejected a light rail system that a few non-profits raised millions for only to be denied the loan.
This light rail would’ve connected downtown Detroit to the rest southeast MI, something desperately needed.
This mayor is under attack because she is of the Tea Party, and nothing more.
Go run tell that, ignorant troll.

The FACT is you offer no argument, only your opinion, which is obviously derived from a talking points menu. Freedom and liberty is somehow anathma to you.
Again, the only logical conclusion is that you benefit from a system that takes from those that earn to support your existence. Don’t be a statistic, be for personal liberty and freedom.

Apparently this project is just the tip of the iceberg with old Janice. Let’s start with her Anti-Gay slur on Facebook. Or her offer to provide psychologists to high school students as a result of planning a cultural diversity day. Or her refusal to include any reference to the city charter (the city which she was elected to run) as she was being sworn in. Or the fact that the City was working for over ten years to secure this transportation center.
Seems like once again the blaze just reported a part of the story. Also seems like the people in this city have been embarassed by their mayor one too many times!

I guess that budget surplus would depend on what method of accounting is used by the governor (and he does use at least 2 of them….one to report his wonderful accomplishments in his ads and one to report to the feds). Yes you do have a surplus if you do not account for upcoming debt…..by the way this was a method of accounting used by the Democratic Gov of WI…..and a method which Walker strongly campaigned against! By the way he is not reporting a budget surplus to the Fed.

Evidently the people of Troy don’t want the center.( Or at least that’s what I get from the story) Why boroow money to finance something that the people who pay her salary don’t want? When are people going to learn that there is no more room to borrow money. The whole coubtry is drowning in debt. More will just kill us all faster. Welcome to reality. Do the math-it appears that Troy’s mayor already has-and she‘s concluded that not only do her town’s people not want the transit center, but it’s possible that futire revenies would be in sufficient to repay the loan. Yes, there was something posted that was controversial. But thats about it. And the citizens of Troy have no want for this project, let alone for tens years. That said, I’m certain that you are working out of a packet of talking points. So far one of them is true. I know that some Soros type can buy a media outlet and produce “evidence” for said packets. In fact, you may work for one of these or a like minded entity. You are clearly well spoken, if fact, reading your posts on other topics I found myself in agreement with regard to NAFTA. On this topic, however, you are mistaken. You see, there was a train station on the Troy/Birmingham border for many decades. It closed many years ago due to lack of support as there is another only 2 miles away.
I put to you that the left, socialists. progressives, etc. are not pleased with the posting online of the union contracts, city salaries, and other city business as to enhance transparency. What would happen if such a concept caught on, perhaps became an election platform for mayors nationwide. That would certainly put a crimp in the plans, now wouldn’t it.
