Tea Party Nation Chief to Gingrich: ‘Your Campaign Is Sinking Faster Than an Italian Cruise Ship’

Despite giving Newt Grinch his endorsement last fall, Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips is fed up with the way that the former Speaker of the House has run his campaign, voicing his frustration in a blog post released Monday entitled “An Open Letter to Newt Gingrich.”
“When I endorsed you, I believed you were not only the best candidate to be the next President but really the only candidate who offered us any hope that we could roll back the damage done by the Obama, Pelosi, Reid axis of fiscal evil,” writes Phillips. “That was then and this is now.”
Phillips is a former Shelby County, Tennessee, assistant district attorney and organized the 2010 National Tea Party Convention.
“Your campaign is sinking faster than an Italian Cruise ship. I don’t know if anyone is telling you what is going on in your campaign but right now it is a disaster.
Last week, I was in Florida with the Tea Party Express tour. At the events, other campaigns had surrogates. By default, I became yours. I did not mind, but your campaign should have had someone there. While I was at the events in Florida, Romney supporters were there with signs, Ron Paul supporters with signs and Rick Santorum supporters with signs. Your supporters were there. They asked me for signs.
Because there was no one from your campaign attending, there were no signs to give.
In short, your campaign in Florida was in complete disarray. And it isn’t just Florida.”
Phillips goes on to write that Gingrich’s campaign failed to respond to his multiple offers to help support Newt in Tennessee, and says he has heard similar stories from disillusioned supporters across the nation. Aside from firing ineffective staff, Phillips suggests that Gingrich tries to campaign not against Romney but on an idea to “change American and restore it.“ Phillips writes that Gingrich should attempt to assemble a ”team“ of 100 or more conservatives running for Congress and rally behind a ”team agenda” similar to his Contract with America in 1994.
“Your campaign is not working. The first rule, when you are in a hole, quit digging.
You need to do something. The choice is yours.
You can fight or you can let Romney win.”

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 3:58pmThis was one of the MAIN REASONS I gave up on the Tea Party. Originally, it was supposed to just ‘rally the conservatives’ together and NOT ENDORSE ANYONE. Now, it is an entity of its own. When it endorsed Newt, the Progressive, I said, ‘THAT’S ENOUGH, I AM NOW INDEPENDENT AND AM NO LONGER AFFILIATED WITH THE TEA PARTY.” A lot of my friends felt the same way. This is WHY, at least here, in my home state, why the Tea Party is failing miserably. We even had a Democrat masquerading as a Conservative, gun-toting zealot at that. Oh he was no Conservative because he wanted to continue with ENTITLEMENTS, in fact, he wanted to INCREASE ENTITLEMENTS. Needless to say, when he ran for office, HE LOST, thank God. But, the point is, HE INFILTRATED OUR TEA PARTY with his progressive cancer and I tried and tried to talk to him, but he would not listen. All I can say is, he was an infiltrator and he failed.
I do believe the Tea Party has other infiltrators like those who endorse candidates. Look at Senator Scott Brown from Massachusetts. This guy has some real progressive tendencies, yet the Tea Party applauded him. WHY???????????????? Someone explain that to me. Is it because they think they can CHANGE HIM? The Tea Party has been dumbed down and have inched away from their beginnings and it is very sad as they could have been a SMART movement. Now, some of them are just like the other politicians – DUMB.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 6:54pmThe Tea Party rallied around and backed the wrong candidate, and now they‘re having buyer’s remorse, when the candidate that they should’ve supported and backed all along was Ron Paul, who is doing all he can to fight for what these pretenders were fighting for from the start. Newt Gingrich was a stuffed pudding filled with huff and puff fluff. If the Tea Party wants to redeem themselves and quickly, they will immediately start supporting Ron Paul, or their message will be flushed down the drain. Santorum has never been a Tea Party guy, and to switch from Gingrich to Santorum would make the Tea Party as redundant as they are starting quickly to appear to be.
Report Post »The Tea Party better wake up soon or lose it all, and be Obama’s whipping boy in the coming election for their support of a failed Gingrich election bid.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 6:53pmObama is going to get annihilated in the general elections against Romney and he knows it. That’s why he would rather go against someone much like himself, like Gingrich, another big government progressive that pretends to be a conservative. If far right conservatives were serious about nominating a far right conservative, they should be voting for Santorum, not Gingrich, who has been a liar and a hypocrite throughout the entire election process about his conservative credentials. It‘s ironic that Gingrich has attacked Romney as a moderate and a liberal despite calling himself a Reagan conservative when even Reagan wasn’t initially a conservative but a liberal before he became a moderate if anything. Even Reagan raised taxes. For someone who seems to enjoy associating himself with a conservative icon, he doesn‘t seem to give much truth to Reagan’s otherwise moderate credentials, which correlate more with Romney’s principles than his own. Oblivious voters on the far right will of course continue to disregard this deception and vote for whoever their so called ‘conservative’ talk show hosts root for, such as Levin, Hannity, Palin, Cain or Rush. It should also be noted that this country was founded on center right principles. The reason for this is because polarized liberals and conservatives are the least likely to effectively compromise and reach across the aisle. Romney is the ideal candidate to not only defeat Obama (a polarized liberal) and win the Presidential nomi

Tell me who has proven the ability to fix things in the government? Did you watch the hour long expose? It’s hard to take all that out of context. In fact I didn’t need to see that to know what Newt is. I watched him over many years and many times just had to shake my head in bewilderment over the positions he took and the things he said even while claiming conservatism.
When his affairs were first exposed I was inclined to think the liberal establishment was just trying to discredit him. But since that time I have seen he is worse than a liberal, he is a liberal in conservative clothing. He knows very well what people want to hear. Even today on Sean Hannity, Newt chastised Obama for claiming to create jobs but it was only days ago Newt himself tried to claim credit for 11 million jobs until he saw that wasn’t flying with those who do understand that government does not create jobs.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 10:34pmJOEL, I was also right in the middle of the military when all this was going on, and yes, I like Newt because he is the conservative. I have looked and compared his voting record, which is more important than a video, and yes, I have seen it before. There is not a person on the planet that doesn’t have something they have done or said on film or video, which is why you have to go with the person’s record. Voting 82 times Present, doesn’t tell you a single thing. Having a 96percent conservative vote the year before he was railroaded out of the House, and 100percent the year he was railroaded out speaks volumes of what he can do. You don’t remember the Contract with America, the Cspan nights of Newt explaining what was the truth about what the Liberals have said during the day? Hours and hours to promote the Conservative movement and what it means. Cheating on a spouse is none of our business, supportive spouses have a way of keeping zippers up and it does take two to make it happen. and even the IRS said he did not break the law on his taxes, the only ethics crime he was railroaded out of the House on, then found innocent. The difference between Newt and the rest of the field is that the others still have some moral values. Yes I think character counts. We used that argument against Clinton but for some reason it doesn’t apply to Newt? You can’t trust someone that not just once but repeatedly and with multiple women over many years cheats on spouses. He cheats on those he previously cheated with.
But that aside look over
http://www.newtexposed.com
I don’t give a hoot what they say his conservative voting percentage is. Look at what he did. For example I was at one point torn about the NAFTA. I thought it must be good because Newt supports it but at the same time it must be bad because Clinton supports it. I‘m now convinced that it’s bad and not a real free trade agreement. Free trade would not take over 1000 pages. The danger of Newt is that he convinces conservatives to do and support that which they would not ordinarily do or support. I’m hoping and see signs that Romney may be a conservative sheep in liberal wolves clothing. But I strongly see Gingrich as a wolf whose sheep skins just don‘t fit right and can’t cover him enough.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 6:50pmOne of the reason we have Obama in the WH is because McCain and Clinton ran horrible campaigns. McCain imploded several times and would get back on track only to fall off again. Do we want that for president? Clinton derailed not because she wasn’t ready for debate, but because she first got arrogant, and then lied BIG and lost credibility. Obama was shielded by the media and still is and so he didn’t have to take tough questions and could just dance around issues letting others derail.
Sadly, a good campaigner does not make an able leader. If he gets elected again, we will deserve what we get which will be policies way to the left of where we are now because he will not have to worry about another term.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 8:17pmTEA is the grassroots organization to get the vote and support out, not the other way around. Newt has the proper message, TEA has organized out of nowhere, imagine what it can properly accomplish if it has a timeline to do things. There is a whole network out there, start utilizing it if you are going to say you have a candidate. How do you think BHO won last time? It wasn’t because of his good message, it was because he could speak platitudes and talk negative against his competitor. McCain didn’t have a TEA Party, it happened because the BHO machine moves in the wrong direction, and if the TEA is the support, time to get the support machine working and be waiting at the bus stop to support our candidate and then get the word out that Obama is the problem and Newt is the solution.

And let me go on the record saying now, there will be wall to wall ads about his involvement in the K Street Project, his endorsement of Arlen Specter (who became a Democrat and helped usher in Obamacare), his “leadership PAC” (which gave a paltry 18% of its money to candidates and spent the rest on everyday expenses for Rick Santorum), his scam of a charity and his numerous “gaffes” which will help sour his appeal among women and independent voters (he blamed the church’s child molestation scandal on Boston being liberal, he equated homosexuality with bestiality and he said radical feminism is to blame for the decline of the American family). Then of course is his record which is more liberal than Newt’s. He voted against NAFTA, against Right to Work and for steel tariffs, as well as various earmarks (especially in election years). Posted on February 6, 2012 at 8:43pmPROGSLAYR, I have no problem sopeonas to judges with a liberal agenda and stepping on the Consititution and the rule of law. I would much rather see the judge questioned than finding out some pedophile that gets off because they found an article that says men and boys under 12 having sex is not detrimental to the child’s mental health. It worked twice before the third lawyer found the article and discovered it was a 1950s article ABOUT DOGS and PUPPIES, not humans, and was debunked, after it was put in an APA periodical. The American Psychology Association is a science periodical, which has gone so liberal, they testified they don’t necessarily support what they publish. A science periodical that doesn’t support what it prints? Maybe stepping on the Constitution may be a reason to ask a judge what he/she is thinking.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 7:48pm@3Monkeys The Tea Party was formed to protest taxation without representation. How hard is that? Same as Boston Harbor. The Tea Party was composed of all parties and people who came together across the nation. Hard? No representative or anyone who represented ANY party was supposed to speak although some did. Do you not remember Barney Frank and Sheila Jackson Lee amongst the Dem. party being questioned as well as Republicans? Just two names in a sea of congressional representatives (Hey, Arlen Spector, both parties according to the wind blowing).. For myself I spit myself out of the system and became just a voter according to my personal beliefs. Not any party nor tea. Thank you to Glenn Beck for history because I have researsched on my own and we have been to use a word I do not like…screwed. And @ Mr. Postman, if Ron Paul had the right answer to defense of our country and Israel he could be President hands down. He did not and won’t. Stated purpose of the Tea Party: Endorses reduced government spending, opposition to taxation in varying degrees, reduction of the national debt and federal budget deficit, and adherence to an originalist interpretation of the United States Constitution.
Americans don’t have taxation without representaion, we have taxation with BAD representation. Like your friend Newt who supported the TARP bailout, Cap and Trade, and engaged in unethical practices as speaker of the house, which he admitted and paid a 300k fine.
