Caught on Audio: Teacher Launches Profane Rant After Students Laugh in Class

A Tennesee teacher is on unpaid leave as the school district that employees him investigates allegations of verbal abuse towards three students.

High School science teacher Andrew Larson reportedly held three students after class on Friday after they were caught being disruptive and laughing during class. He then went on to threaten and curse out the boys (Nathan Walker, Austin Green and Korey Byard). From WZTV:

Green says he’s been in trouble with Larson before and suspected his teacher would use inappropriate language so he hit the record on his cell phone. During the confrontation you hear Larson say, ” If you come in here with that —- — attitude, I’m going to throw that assignment in the trash. Larson goes on to say, “I’m going to rip you a new @-# *$*@ and the next time you do it, I”m going to give you zeroes until you flunk and I don’t care if Mama comes in here. I don’t care if Daddy comes in here.”

Walker says he was scared: “I think he took it too far as a teacher. Teachers shouldn’t yell at you like that … at all. It was pretty scary … he used some really bad language. I mean … something I wouldn’t use toward anybody.”

But even though on leave, school superintendent Dr. Danny Weeks says he has gotten a flood of calls and e-mails supporting the teacher. The students don’t seem so popular either. According to Byard, the students have received threatening messages: “People are just saying when we show up at school tomorrow, that they’re going to jump us.. a lot of people are.”

Walker‘s mother says the teacher’s actions are disturbing: “The pure rage he had behind those words are what we’re really concerned about.”

I don’t condone the language from the teacher but this story is a bit one-sided don’t you think? Sure looks like the kids’ innocent act is a bunch of BS. the kids look like entitled derelicts.

Give the teacher an award for trying to straighten out the students, with punk ass kids disrupting the whole class these students are also squandering their classmates time along with the tax payers time and money.
This whole notion that all kids are good and deserve A pat on the head and told they are special is BS. School is not A social event. It just might be the essence to the core problem with American labor force to many people view work as A social event. Perhaps we have become to believe that putting in time equates some how to the word work. The sooner our Children learn this lesson the better off our Country will be.

My parents raised eight kids and the teachers were ALWAYS right! If the school had to call our house, we got a good thumping…We all walked the straight line and were good students. We also appreciated the hard work our teachers put in to help us learn. That attitude is lost to kids now. They think they are being punished if they have to go to school, That is exactly why India is kicking the snot out of our kids in Math and Science. It is still a privilege there to attend school!

Our Military has damped down on the Drill Sergent’s which is to bad. I’ve know many a boy on the edge of good or evil get straightened up by a .strong male. .

All kids are hellions at heart. However, innocent or not, the teacher went over the line when he threatened them with flunking and even throwing their completed assignments in the trash. That, and not the language, should leave the teacher jobless.

There was a time when kids respected authority. Now all they have to do is pull out their cell phones and call their mommies who cry to the local news outlets.

In my day, misbehavior resulted in licks with a paddle and worse when we got home. We also knew that the bill of the cap went in the front.

I remember my 8th grade math teacher ordered a classmate and me to remain after classbecause we raced for the door when the bell rang. When all the other kids were gone, he opened his desk drawer, revealing a long wooden plank with holes drilled throughout. He had me bend forward, facing the exit, and while I expected the sting of the paddle any second, this skinny 6 foot 5 inch teacher’s leg raised up high in the air, came down and met my buttocks squarely, sending me out into the hallway, landing on my feet. I turned to the door, and my classmate came sailing out the door, landing squarely on his feet. We looked at each other, and laughed our guts out and went to our next class. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! By the way, we minded our Ps and Qs from that point too. And Dad and Mom never heard about it.

As I’ve said before on this website, my husband is a School Superintendent. Teachers and administrators are being pushed to the brink dealing with unruly kids and most often they are hand-tied when it comes to discipline. Parents ALWAYS side with their children, and neither the students or the parents take responsibility for the wrongs done. Many of the students come from broken homes and this contributes to their behavioral problems. The problems that teachers and administrators deal with today are far worse then the things that teachers and administrators dealt with when I was in school…long time ago. My husband dealt with several major problems that occured just over this past week-end, and let me tell you not only do kids lie terribly, but they are cruel to each other, and some of the stuff would shock this website audience! Trust me, I’ve seen and heard it all in the last four decades…nothing would surprise me. And as far as the boys saying that they would never talk like that…you have got to be kidding!!!

I will be the first to admit that I could never be a teacher! The disrespect from the students and lack of interest from the parents, the rules set down in court…no thanks.

I’m not sticking up for the government run schools either…Home schooling, private school, religious school any thing but Public Schools. The unions do more harm than good, the teachers know they are protected so they could care less about teaching, the curriculum is not based on learning math, science, English or creative thinking. It is a Liberal/Progressive think tank at best.,

Trust me, I would be on U tube as a crazy teacher…I know it so I never even thought of teaching!

I may be jumping to conclusions…but I used to be a teenager, and I know they can act like little sh**s. Threatening to tear one a new A**hole is hardly a realistic threat. More of a hyperbole. And I really doubt the kids have never used language like that themselves. Oh, their poor virgin ears! Perhaps the teacher should just have given the kids failing grades and let the grades speak for themselves instead of going on a rant. Although that is more self control than I personally have.

We need discipline and control both among the teachers, students, and the parents. Without the parents taking the time to teach decorum and discipline to their kids (I do not mean abuse them) the teachers are not respected and learning becomes a joke.

The nation is paying for years of neglect across the board by the so called Department of Education, that should actually have been called Dept of Indoctrination (or KGB branch 2, after the KGB branch one which is the IRS)

Maybe better funding for the DOE is the solution. Considering many areas would teach creationism if given local control, I think the last thing we need to do is leave it to that. That would mark a step backward in our educational development and put us even more severely behind the rest of the world in testing. The privatize or localize education arguments are made by those who don’t really care about education but care more about influence and indoctrination. These are largely the people for whom opt-out forms were sent home to parents before Obama’s speech that told students to study hard and take their education seriously. If you actually want to talk about a common sense approach to implementing an educational system, leaving it to the whims of local governments is preposterous and impractical, and privatizing health care will result in education becoming a purchased item, and thus only available to those with money. Part of the point of a national education system is to make education available to everyone. The way the system works now, underfunded, it is not equally educational. The solution is not to give up and can the whole system, it is to improve the system and give it the resources that it needs. Maybe if half of the federal budget wasn’t going towards the defense department would would have more tax dollars to work with. Just a thought from a bleeding heart liberal. Tell me why I’m wrong, and why my studies in Law have led me so far astray of your well-informed perspectives.

      LQTM–
Try the 10th Amendment: all powers not granted to the federal government is retained by the states or people. Education is not a power granted to Congress, so it is sole purview of the states and people.
You are deluded if you think throwing money at the DOE will solve anything. The DOE is basically a mechanism by which the federal government siphons money away from the states only to give it back to them with strings attatched. Would not be better to cut out the middle-man?
And more localized control would result in children being taught creationism? How awful! Children taught that there is dissent in regards to the origin of the universe? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! NO DISSENT ALLOWED! But seriously, what makes you think that? I attended a private Christian school until 5th grade, and I was taught the basics of the theory of evolution in a way that was, yes, negative, but not overly so. And more than that, I am thinking individual capable of forming my own opinions… Please tell me that’s not already sin.
