Team Boots 6-Year-Old Cheerleader Over Risque Cheer Controversy

Team Boots 6 Year Old Cheerleader Over Risque Cheer ControversyI’m sure 6-year-old Kennedy Tesch has spirit. But I think we’d all agree that there is no need for the young cheerleader to shake her booty “from left to right.”

The full cheer goes like this: “Our backs ache, our skirts are too tight, we shake our booties from left to right.”

Kennedy’s mom was not okay with the cheer and said so. The cheer team’s response — kick Kennedy off the team. Mom talked to Fox News:

“I don’t even have the words,” Jennifer Tesch told FoxNews.com. “I can’t believe their solution to this was to remove my from daughter from the team. She’s going to be devastated. She’s going to be crying.”

The only good news — the family will get back the $125 they paid for a team uniform.

I applaud her parents for speaking up about this. Many people feel just as she does but lack the courage to go against the grain and speak their minds. I agree with her, 6 year olds have no business cheering about ‘shaking their booties’ or ‘tight skirts.’ It makes me sick when I see those cheer competitions and these little girls are walking around in half shirts and miniskirts. You reap what you sow, parents!

I won‘t even buy my girls those pants that say ’princess’ across the butt and stuff. It’s just not a good idea….

Well, one might even question the whole idea of cheerleaders these days (gasp!). Most wear skirts that are far to short and dance in provacative ways. They have become eye candy for those in the stands. Do you want your daughter to be eye cand? I am glad this mother’s eyes were opened early.

Then we wonder why our children are so screwed up! Cudos for the Mom…she did her job as a responsible adult. Inappropriate cheers have no place and bring no value to the routine. All they bring is shock value…and at the end of the day cheering leading is about so much more that suggestive cheers or actions. This is what happens when you continually dumb down society and flood kids with sexuality. The Liberal gameplan is to destroy morality in this country to the point that nothing is indescent. I appluad the Mother…I wish more parents would take a stand in protecting their childrens innocense.

Its just disgusting the way “entertainment” is going. What do you expect when you turn on the disney channel and its 12 hours a day of 8-14 year olds in children’s sitcoms and it all seems to revolve around dateing and “relationships.” Sex is being sold to children earlier and earlier; and yet again, suprise suprise, the majority of teen parents turn into leaches onto the goverment. either thats an astounding coincidence or else im just crazy.
And to anyone who wants to call me out for saying that most teen parents turn into leaches, I was one, of 17 in my class in highschool. Guess who the only one is who isnt a welfate addict???

Can have a party for helloween no masks and a list of other things there going to type up. thats all she got after 3 hours of fighting with the school. sorry still no chrismas but she’s not done yet. if i wouldn’t lose my house or go to jail i would stop paying my school taxes it just makes me mad no chrismas but the teacher still get the holiday off and paid for. They just call it the winter holiday bull__________ thats all it is. Why can’t these people just get on a plane and fly to a country that suits them.

Brooke Lorren – the hokey pokey is NOT the same as “our backs ache, our skirts are tight, we shake our booties from left to right.” For the coach to say it means the girls are standing on a hard surface cheering for hours is a farce. Let’s be honest here. Cheering on a team, as I remember it, was more like, “Gimme a E-A-G-L-E-S – GO EAGLES!” The cheer in this story isn’t to cheer on an athletic team – it is meant to invoke a sexual image — something very, very WRONG that brings this kind of image of a 6 year old girl. Quite a different picture than doing the hokey pokey that I remember.

I agree with you. I was responding to the blanked statement that kids aren’t supposed to shake :anything:. I was trying to be humorous. Of course I don’t believe that kids should be talking about shaking their booties. But there are occasions when it is okay for kids to shake. The Hokey Pokey is one of those instances.

    Okpulot Taha –
To answer you’re question about the hokey pokey dance is simple. The word backside is not slang like the word booty is today. Used for a woman’s backside, the slang word booty is becoming more derogatory by the increased usage in adult entertainment industry. Look how main stream Hollywood has been accepted by American’s viewing habits. For instance; the 1997 movie “Booty Call” with Jamie Foxx. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Booty_Call – Honestly, is making a movie like this honorable?

I do not want by children calling their backside a booty.

Booties are a type of foot wear.
Bootees are a type of babies foot wear

But the version of the word I am concerned about is “BOOTY.” And how it‘s being used today for a women’s backside.

    Booty
    boo·ty /ˈbuti/ Show Spelled[boo-tee]
1.spoil taken from an enemy in war; plunder; pillage.- (INCLUDING STOLEN WOMEN)
2.something that is seized by violence and robbery. (RAPE)
    3. any prize or gain. (AGAIN THINK!)

    Get the picture!

    Words are very powerful.

IMPORTANT: A good person out of the good treasure of their heart brings forth good things, and an evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word people may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” – Mathew 35-37

ROCK TRUTH, I never know if my articles will pass censorship here or not.

You write, “The word backside is not slang like the word booty is today.”

Our word “booty” is not a vulgar expression. This word “booty” is well accepted Americana. A word is only vulgar when wrapped within an inappropriate sexual context.

“A word is only offensive when wrapped within hatred” – Taha

You write: “Words are very powerful.”

Try my quote which is frequently cited by academics,

“Words are powerful, dangerous, even fatal” – Taha

Your twisted dictionary definition is soundly rejected by this English professor. You are imposing your personal definitions upon our word “booty”. Twisting of truth is highly inappropriate.

I would write more on this topic but I would risk again being censored by Beck and Baker. I find this comical an English professor, a talented and published writer, a well known and well respected writer is the number one target for Iron Fist censorship here at the Blaze. No others here at The Blaze are censored as much as I am. This is very telling of the true agenda of Beck and Baker.

Okpulot Taha – Thank you for your reply. You write very well and I appreciate honest feedback.

To be clear, I am not trying to change the meaning of the word booty or wrap it in some form of hateful or sexual context. But history speaks for itself. We shouldn’t be ignorant of the past.

But please let‘s stay focused with the fact’s.

You say “A word is only vulgar when wrapped within an inappropriate sexual context.”
That is correct and the word “booty” in this day is wrapped with “inappropriate sexual content”.

      1. When I hear the word booty, first I react like most people.. What’s the big deal right? But with a little research and insight I recognize some problems.

      2. My so called “weak” definition of booty came directly out of dictionary.com & has been used in well known literature for many centuries until now. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/booty

      3. You can not deny that the word “booty” is “slang” for a woman‘s backside which is not it’s appropriate meaning.

      4. I never said the slang word “booty” was vulgar, but I did say that it‘s becoming increasingly derogatory for how it’s used for adult content. You can easily prove this by going to Google images: http://www.google.com/imghp – search for “BOOTY”.

We now let modern day search engines define it’s current meanings & usages all wrapped up in the content we digest.

      5. After doing a search for “booty” on Google, would you recommend these pages to young children?

      6. No need to wrap the meaning with hate, but with a little pondering & observation you can understand how the slang word booty got it’s originally meaning. (Spoil taken from an enemy in war; plunder; pillage.) Learning just little world history will clearly confirm that WOMEN were TAKEN as BOOTY! – Call it twisted if you will, But I call it reason. Unfortunately, but it is historical fact that women in different places around the world, were considered a piece of property.

Please tell me how you connect the word booty with a woman‘s backside without researching it’s original form? Just going along with something just because others say or do it at school lacks true discernment and self control. Just because your college professor, friends, and colleagues say or do it, doesn’t make it right or true, even though it seems normal.

      7. Without a doubt you can‘t say that our country has seriously degraded and has been raped from it’s moral values. All one needs to do is look around.

America needs to repent! This is the only way we will restore honor.

ROCK TRUTH comments, “You write very well and I appreciate honest feedback.”

Yes, I do write well and I am bluntly truthful. A result is I am the most frequently censored participant here at The Blaze. An interesting comparison is I participate at the far left liberal Washington Post, participate almost on a daily basis. Over the years, over my thousand or so articles at the Washington Post, not a single article of mine is censored.

Here at the right conservative Blaze, I am lucky to have half my articles get passed censorship.

I keyed in on several of your points. I am not ignoring other points of yours.

You write, “I am not trying to change the meaning of the word booty….”

Yes, you are. You cited dictionary definitions then tagged on your own definitions. You are changing the meaning of words to fit your personal agenda.

You write, “You can not deny that the word ‘booty’ is ‘slang’ for a woman‘s backside which is not it’s appropriate meaning.”

Our word “booty” only applies to women? I know better.

You write, “I never said the slang word ‘booty’ was vulgar….”

Then why do you have a problem with this word? Some say “bum”, some say “butt”, some same “buttocks”, some say “booty”. All the same meaning but one word is taboo. Why?

You write, “After doing a search for ‘booty’ on Google, would you recommend these pages to young children?”

Go out to page 10, page 20, page 30 and farther out at Google. You will discover “booty” no longer means “butt”. This reinforces my point a word is only vulgar when wrapped within inappropriate sexual content; we define words through context, not by dictionaries.

As to suggesting this for a child, yes, I would. With our girl over the years, nothing was taboo. Her father and I made a point to have her explore life as she wishes while we were there to provide guidance and to provide explanation. We did not shelter her rather we walk with her through her life and we still do although she is thirty years old now.

This is the greatest failure of a majority of parents, saying “NO” without explanation. This encourages a child to find out why “NO”. This causes problems. This is bad parenting.

Good parenting is a full time job. Parents are responsible to constantly explain to a child, “This is so because….” No topic was taboo for our girl, none, and we made a point to discuss topics fully and completely with her. As this relates to “sexual” notions, by age ten our girl could speak to matters of human sexuality with significant knowledge. By age sixteen, she was qualified to be a sex therapist. Her becoming pregnant as a teenager was never a concern because our girl was and is well informed.

Amongst the greatest errors parents make is not teaching their children, not being fully truthful with their children. Only tell a child “don’t do that” is a guarantee this child will do that.

This issue of a being cheerleader is not a “sexual” problem, this is a problem of parents making sexual something which is not.

Again, I wonder why some parents look at activities of children in a sexual way. Strikes me some parents are not quite thinking right.

Thank you for your kind words. You are well aware I do not engage in vulgarity nor engage in unacceptable personal insult. You are equally aware my articles are both respectfully written and professionally written. At risk of reading arrogant, I am a model participant, I am the type of writer The Blaze needs.

I am also on the censorship list here at The Blaze. About half of my articles are censored out.

Why do you suppose this is?

Asking “why” leads to much conjecture by the many. Some might suggest I am a target of censorship because I am truthful. Others might suggest I am a target of censorship because I am an American Indian. Some girls might suggest I am a target of censorship because I am just such, a girl.

A hazard of Glenn Beck and Scott Baker engaging in Iron Fist censorship is having their motivation for censorship questioned. This asking “why” is most often not complimentary and often leads to damaging rumor.

Thank you for your kind words. I enjoy spirited debate with participants but am almost never allowed to engage in discussion because of Iron Fist censorship practiced by The Blaze.

Listening to a coach calling a concerned mom a lunatic is troubling to say the least. This shows you how far our values have fallen as a nation. Reminds me of how Rachel Maddow made fun of Christine O’donnell for taking a stand for purity 10 years ago.

This cheer is unacceptable for a 6 year old young girl. And I can tell the mom didn’t care for the booty shaking either, but didn’t have the moral courage to speak out against it.

Some lyrics from the Hokey Pokey

    You put your backside in,
    You put your backside out;
    You put your backside in,
And you shake it all about.

BROOKE LORREN comments, “I always shook my arms and legs while facing backwards during that verse. Nothing sexual about that at all.”

This is acceptable. The point is to have fun!

During my teaching career I hosted dozens of “roller skating” parties for kids at our school, old fashion four wheel roller skates! Still have mine, still skate. I know those hundreds of children loved to do the Hokey Pokey, not only acting out their roles but singing as well. Not once, while participating with those kids, did I ever think “Their shaking their butts is sexual.”

Quite the opposite, kids, parents, teachers, all enjoyed acting silly and laughing, a lot of laughter.

Suppressing this type of fun by self-righteous people is highly wrongful. Let those kids be, let those kids have fun and enjoy a normal childhood free of stress imposed by uptight parents.

Those kids are not thinking sexual thoughts. Some parents do think sexual thoughts and this causes me to wonder, “Why do some parents look at kids and think sexual thoughts?”

I love how the league president says he’s never happy when a child “leaves our program” and “the last thing I want to do is lose a member”

Who is he kidding? You booted her!!
Unbelievable the entire board voted unanimously to remove the girl from the cheerleading team and they think it’s ok for girls that age to have cheers like that?
I have a 5 1/2 year old daughter and there‘s no way I’d want her doing those kinds of cheers. They‘re teaching children younger and younger about sexuality and promiscuity and if you don’t think that’s what this is, you’re being duped.

thats the leftist for you! why debate issues when you can eliminate issues. everyone should watch earth2100 on history international channel. it is full of obamas radical regime telling you basically that americans are to stupid to make choices, that we are greedy and selfish, that we should redistibute wealth to other countries, global warming is really kicking into high gear, humans are parasites, genocide will be a product of global warming, and yes they even take a cheap shot at the border control agents. van jones, john podesta, and thomas homer dixon just to name a few and i mean a few radical ideologs and some very shocking things they say in this sad portryal of the future!!! i promise you will here more from me as i do more reearch on these people. like glenn beck said “do the math don’t take my word for it” and i have uncovered more truly shocking statements from the people obama has surrounded himself with. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ITS WONDERFUL PEOPLE!!

Liberalism is a mental disorder. Liberals are running our schools and harming our children. Better to keep your young ones locked in the basement until they are 18. They will emerge far smarter, far wiser than their counterparts who have attended “free” public schools.

We must protect the innocence of children for as long as possible. We have enough problems when they hit puberty.

      And kids need sunlight too.

ROCK TRUTH comments, “We must protect the innocence of children for as long as possible.”

Raising a child within a sheltered life is extremely damaging to this child. A sheltered life for a child produces an adult who is gullible, timid and fearful. Sheltered children grow to be adults who often prove to be victims of life; they have little or no common sense.

Okpulot Taha: That’s the problem. You’d probably be the parent that says, “Well, I‘d rather my teen daughter have sex in my home where I know she’s safe than out there somewhere else.” It’s absolutely wrong and backward thinking. What happened to sweet girls with SOME level of modesty? It’s your type of thinking to blame for those being few and far between these days.

JENNY2384 comments, “You’d probably be the parent that says, ‘Well, I‘d rather my teen daughter have sex in my home where I know she’s safe than out there somewhere else.’ ”

How we raise our daughter is impossible for you to know. Additionally, you are placing “words in my mouth” which is deceit. You know nothing about our family and you sit there advising readers what type of parents we are. Your behavior is highly inappropriate.

I don’t know if you have a daughter. Let’s pretend you do. Have you taken your daughter back to rural Oklahoma farm for summer breaks to live the hard life of farming? Do you have your daughter plow behind an 18 hand half ton mule on a daily basis? Work out in the fields, milk cows, shovel out a pig pen, any of those events in your girl’s life like our girl?

More succinct, does your daughter have calluses on her hands like our girl? Of course not.

This I know you have absolutely have never done for your girl. This is to spend several summers living on a remote Navajo Indian reservation, living a traditional American Indian lifestyle, hard work, no electricity, no running water, no phone, no internet and transportation is by foot or horseback.

Who are you to judge our family? I really want to know. Present your credentials.

JENNY2384 adds, “It’s your type of thinking to blame for those being few and far between these days.”

How interesting. I am to blame for mistakes of other parents. Your comment is simply ludicrous.

I have a challenge for you, Jenny. I will make arrangements for you and your daughter to stay on a farm in Oklahoma. Our girls can have a contest, “Which daughter can plow 5 acres the quickest?”

Are you up to my challenge? I am sure your girl can handle a half ton mule with her not having led a sheltered life.

      >>>Okpulot Taha: You take personal offense when some says “probably”, so I kind of wonder how close that remark might have come to your feelings on the subject. If your daughter was plowing behind an 18 hand mule that weighed a half ton, I would really like to see that mule. My quarter horses are both 15 hands high and weigh a half ton. A large draft horse would be likely to measure 18 hands at the withers, but they would weigh a lot closer to a ton. There is also nothing wrong with teaching your children morals and encouraging activities that will help them remain a virgin until they are married. It worked for 3 of my 4 kids. The other one is the black sheep cliche that is going to do whatever they want just because they want to find things out for themselves. Six year old girls should not be doing anything of a sexual nature. And the term “backsides” means everything from your shoulders to your bottom. I applaud these parents for taking a stand for morality.

Visit Oklahoma! Watch out for Oklahoma mosquitoes, though, those big blood suckers are known to fly off with 500 pound Duroc hogs. Oh yes, keep your small children away from shorelines of rivers and lakes, our catfish are the size of white sharks. SPLASH! Ooopps.. there goes another kid.

Water moccasins are the worst. Just last year one of those monster snakes slithered into our cow pasture and swallowed our favorite bull, swallowed him whole.

Six year old girls shouldn’t be talking about shaking anything. They have nothing to shake. Who’s the coach of the squad, Roman Polanski? This is just wrong.

“You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out, you put your left foot in and you shake it all about” is perfectly acceptable for a 6 year old.

This cheer has been around for at least 35 years. That’s when I first heard it. I was in Jr High. The High School Cheer squad did it, only they said body, not booty. But, why would they be teaching it to first graders?

You’re right, they don’t even have booties, yet, they have bummies or hynies! That’s what I told my 7 year old niece when she said something about her boobs….you don’t have boobs yet, you have a chest! What is getting into people, unless they really are following the NAMBLA agenda and seeking legal ways to sexualize children. It will happen soon enough on it’s own, and long before a parent is ready for it. Let the children have a childhood! I can’t believe they want to penalize a child for not being allowed to be sexualized. BTW, that’s a take-off on a female army marching exercise chant, you know, “I don‘t know but I’ve been told….sound off 1, 2 …” Our legs hurt, our pants are too tight, our B^%#s swing from left to right, I say 1 2 I say 3 4 I say 1,2,3,4 etc. but not for children.

Actually, it was taken from a MALE military cadence: “My boots are too heavy, my pants are too tight, my b—s are swinging from left to right…” Not a model for 6 yr-old cheers! But to break a little girl’s heart for their “power” to do it “their way” is detestable!
