Teamwork: AFL-CIO Union Plans Occupation of Conservative CPAC Conference

Conservatives from across the country will be descending upon the nation‘s capitol later this week for the American Conservative Union’s annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
Occupy protesters organized by the Washington DC Metro Council of the AFL-CIO are set to greet them.
The conference is a major yearly gathering for conservative college students, activists and organizations, featuring workshops and speeches led by conservative leaders. Just to name a few of this year’s speakers: Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Marco Rubio, Laura Ingrahm, Ann Coulter and our own S.E. Cupp. To mark the occasion, Washington D.C.’s AFL-CIO posted this message titled “Occupy CPAC” on its website Friday:
“With workshops like ‘Return of Big Labor: What Can We Learn from Wisconsin & Ohio,‘ and ’Taking back Wall Street: The Tea Party vs. Occupy Wall Street,’ the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) descends on the nation’s capital February 9-11 and local labor activists are planning a DC lesson to ensure that the voice of the 99% are heard at this elite conservative gathering. Actions are currently being planned for noontime and after work on Friday, February 10. Featured speakers at CPAC include Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, and presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum.”
David Freddoso of the Washington Examiner notes that the call to action is reminiscent of protests in November when union-aided Occupiers banged on windows, blocked local traffic, used children as human shields and harmed at least one woman at the D.C. conference center which was holding another conservative conference.
In addition to the usual tents and pot banging, Occupiers at CPAC plan to bring “an inflatable fat cat, puppets, ‘candidate Walmart,’ and more to LET THE VOICES OF THE 99% BE HEARD!”
That said, conservatives may not need to fret over the possibility of Occupy CPAC making a major disruption. Redstate notes that unlike the violent protest at the Americans for Prosperity event last November, CPAC will be held at the Marriot Wardman Park, private property set back from the street.
The Blaze long ago connected the dots with who is behind the Occupy movement: unions. And now, it seems they are not ashamed to reveal the teamwork.
So far, Occupy CPAC has events planned for Wednesday afternoon and Friday evening.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 3:37pmI thought unions existed to NEGOTIATE WITH EMPLOYERS!?!?
NOT, to attack the general public at large!
WAAAY out of control.
My coal-mining, union-member, forefathers would be ashamed of these people ! !
They needed a union because they were being paid 25 cents per WEEK and they weren’t paid money – they were paid “****” – credits that could only be used to buy necessities from “the company store” – a store OWNED by their employer – a store where prices were marked WAY UP above the normal prices in public stores.
I say unions should be PER EMPLOYER…
Report Post »XYZ co.’s employees create a union. That union has to represent XYZ employees in negotiation with XYZ. They are NOT allowed to unionize multiple companies into a single union. Furthermore, unions should have to be staffed by ACTUAL EMPLOYEES of the employer.
That way, the union bosses will ACTUALLY SERVE THE EMPLOYEES. They will represent ONLY those employees. They will not be a THIRD PARTY at the table, who have THEIR OWN MOTIVES, separate from the employees.
If they also represent a bigger group of employees at ABC co., they will get most of THEIR OWN MONEY from that larger group. So, they will negotiate more strongly for that group than for those at XYZ.

TIME_2_END_THE_PAUL_CAMPAIGN_IN_12
Posted on February 6, 2012 at 3:18pmCPAC 2011. Paul’s supporters are young, focused, and they move in blocks. In fact, there is something oddly robotic about the way Paul supporters, in aggregate, comport themselves. Legions of them marched in for the results of the straw poll and then filed out immediately after the results were done. Again, kind of like robots. They didn‘t even stick around for Allen West’s speech, which was clearly a highlight and a delight to all conservatives. The man is brilliant, engaging, rock-ribbed and fearless, and a true natural leader. His speech could not have been much better, and I suspect that 99% of actual conservatives would agree.
Q: Who wouldn‘t want to see West’s speech?
A: Pretty much only Ron Paul supporters, for whom it’s Paul or nothing.
Really, there is something of a disconnect there, very much in evidence at CPAC. You basically have the Paul supporters and everyone else. The phenomenon is odd and very disappointing. It‘s felt by many that Paul supporters skew the polls and erode it’s credibility.
Report Post »TIME_2_END_THE_PAUL_CAMPAIGN_IN_12
Posted on February 6, 2012 at 3:24pmJust for the Paul groupies…
Threatening the genuine small-government love that has endeared him to supporters, Ron Paul may have taken money from the government for flights his campaign and political action committees were already paying for. After looking through statements on a credit card assigned to Ron Paul & Associates Inc., Roll Call lays out its case that Paul double-billed many flights by matching prices and dates of plane tickets charged to his campaign or PACs and also to taxpayers:
Roll Call identified eight flights for which the Texas Republican, a GOP presidential candidate and leading champion of smaller government, was reimbursed twice for the same trip. Roll Call also found dozens more instances of duplicate payments for travel from 1999 to 2009, totaling thousands of dollars’ worth of excess payments, but the evidence in those cases is not as complete.
Predictably, Paul’s office “vigorously denies” the charge.
Report Post »TIME_2_END_THE_PAUL_CAMPAIGN_IN_12
Posted on February 6, 2012 at 3:34pmIt‘s worth noting Paul’s hands-off relationship with “Ron Paul & Associates Inc.” in the past. That‘s the organization was one of two to publish Ron Paul’s kinda racist newsletters in the ‘80s and ’90s. Ones that Paul, while running for president in 2012, says he never ever knew about but probably did…
