Ted Nugent Savages Health Care Ruling, Wonders if ‘It Would Have Been Best Had the South Won the Civil War’

Rocker Ted Nugent has again waded into the political scene, this time ripping Chief Justice John Roberts for voting to uphold President Barack Obama’s health care law while wondering “if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War.”
From Nugent’s latest op-ed, published Thursday in the Washington Times:
The bottom line is that Chief Justice Roberts‘ traitor vote will ensure more monumental spending and wasted taxes and put almost 15 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) under one of the world’s most bureaucratic, ineffective, incompetent and grossly expensive systems ever devised by man: our out-of- control federal government.
Chief Justice Roberts squandered the opportunity to restore judicial, financial and legislative sanity to a government that by any sane person’s standards is insane and addicted to centralized federal control of our lives.
Because our legislative, judicial and executive branches of government hold the 10th Amendment in contempt, I’m beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War. Our Founding Fathers’ concept of limited government is dead.
Roberts’ opinion upholding the individual mandate as a tax and not a penalty, Nugent said, gives “Fedzilla” the power to “gobble up even more of our tax dollars, more of our GDP and limit even more opportunity in the private sector.”
“Quite possibly, with his vote, Chief Justice Roberts just engineered the ultimate demise of this great experiment in self- government,” he wrote. “If you think we are skating on financial thin ice now, just wait until 2014 when the full financial tsunami of Obamacare comes crashing down.”
Calling Roberts “the turncoat chief justice,” Nugent suggested Obama invite him over for dinner, take him for a ride on Air Force One and apologize for voting against his confirmation.
“It’s the least the community-organizer- in-chief can do for the turncoat chief justice who saved the president’s socialist health care program,” Nugent wrote. “Limited government is dead. The smothering era of socialism is here.”
Nugent — who has endorsed Mitt Romney — sparked controversy in April after he said that if Obama is re-elected, “I will be either be dead or in jail by this time next year.” His remarks prompted a visit from the Secret Service, though no further action was taken.

I know it must be terrible not to own your very own slave. Too bad, though; the South lost the war, and now they are the poorest (of the bottom 10 states listed by income, 9 are Southern, and all 10 are “red states”) , fattest (of the top 10 obese states, 9 are Southern), and dumbest (on a list I found of the ten “smartest” states, only 1 was Southern) citizens of the nation. I’ll post links in a separate post.

The Confederacy did not secede from the Union over slavery, and the Federal Government did not take up the issue of slavery untill after the Battle of Antietam September 17, 1862 The Emancipation Proclamation was only bought up, because President Lincoln needed to keep France and Great Britain from giving full diplomatic recognition to the Confederacy. And it worked. After the Emancipation Proclamation was sent out for ratification January 1, 1863, France and Britain withdrew their diplomats from the Confederacy.
Lincoln personally didn’t care one way or another about slavery, he was just trying to get the country back together, and end the war.
“I would free all from bondage, I would free some and leave others a-lone or I would free none at all, to return the country and end the war.”
You really should learn the history of your country, we are a great country…………

Posted on July 8, 2012 at 8:04am@ BryanB Unless the Southern states were lying in their secession statements then yes they did secede because of slavery. Read the statements, especially Mississippi. How many times is slavery cited? “Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery– the greatest material interest of the world.” Just because the North wasn’t fighting(at first) to free the slaves, that doesn‘t mean the south wasn’t fighting to keep them. Please also see the “cornerstone speech” by Confederate VP Stephens. Also, the War saved the south since they were cleansing themselves out of existence via mass breeding of the profitable slaves(one man bragged that he had bred 1000s). Also, The Russian Czars intervention helped keep England/France out of the war. America would be better off had the southn never rebelled. Their disgusting need for slaves has ruined our demographics and given the FED this terrible amount of power.

Posted on July 6, 2012 at 5:28pmHes correct, the Civil War or War of Northern Aggression was a major turning point for the sovereignty of the States. Yes slavery was an evil institution but would have been deemed unnecessary as the Industrial Revolution would have made the institution obsolete. The aggression of the North can be explained by the power gained and consolidation of the Federal Govt, not the abolition of the slaves which wasnt announced until 63 “I believe”, to help bolster support for the unjust war against the South. The truth is Lincoln was a Federalist Tyrant and the South had every right to separate herself from the ever increasing Federalist threat, if the South had won we would see a much more liberty minded society with greater appreciation for states rights. One thing is for sure Romney would have no place in a society where individual liberties are held in high regard.

Posted on July 6, 2012 at 5:41pmThe Irish Potato Famine in the late 1850s assured a veritable tsunami of cheap immigrant labor for America. Slavery was already on the way out, and only revisionists continue to call the War of Northern Aggression a “crusade” in that regard. The New York draft (-dodger) Riots precipitated the Emancipation Proclamation, using the concurrent publication of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin“ as a shill for the ”righteousness” of the invasion.
The Confederacy could live quite well without the industrialized North, as it had extensive trade relations with industrialized Europe (largely predicated on ruinous tariffs on machinery bought by Southern states), but the North couldn’t do without the agrarian South.
Culturally, we didn’t think like the North then, and we damn sure don’t now.

Slavery would have been abolished eventually as the agricultural machines became more advanced and made slavery unnecessary, but it was you Yanks that insisted on war and I would argue not for the sake of abolition but for a Federal power grab. The war was not necessary, I believe it was more of a power grab by the North and less about the evils of slavery, it would explain the Yankee aggressiveness.

Posted on July 6, 2012 at 5:17pmOpen your imagination for a moment. If the south would have won (or if the North let them secede), they would have freely traded between the two countries. Eventually, the South would have realized they need the North’s industry and military protection. The North would have realized that a centralized government creates tension and makes bad laws. In my opinion, we would be a better country today had the south’s rights and opinions been included. Instead, we got a more centralized government full of corruption and imperialism
As for slavery, it was a dying economic model. Slave rebellions and technology would have made it obsolete. Most countries got rid of slavery without fighting a civil war

There were already many in the South who were outspoken against slavery, although the average troll here will disagree so they can continue with their redneck bias. Robert E. Lee did technically own slaves, although outspoken against the practice. Yep, once he inherited his home plantation, Arlington he owned slaves just long enough to finish the legal paperwork to free each and every one of them. General Longstreet was highly outspoken, as well as Stonewall Jackson. The state of Alabama raised four cavalry regiments that joined the Union in an effort to help end slavery. But, their will be some of the usual deniers here, this just does not fit their mold.

Posted on July 6, 2012 at 5:33pmThe real reason “they” are Damn Yankees, is because they come South and won’t go home! Go home you dam yankees! Yeah, I’m with you, I love the South and I love Texas. Some day I’ll live there again.
