Teen Behind Blaze’s Mexican Pledge Story Tells Fox: ‘This Was an Indoctrination’

Texas Girl Behind Mexican Pledge Story Responds

15-year-old Brenda Brinsdon, who refused to participate in a school assignment to recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance.

Brenda Brinsdon, the 15-year-old behind the Blaze’s exclusive story about Texas students being told to recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance and the national anthem, isn‘t buying her school’s claim that the controversial assignment she recorded is not indoctrination. According to her the teacher was taking advantage of impressionable students.

Brinsdon joined “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning to talk about the assignment, the video she recorded, and the school’s response. That response includes the schools claim that lesson was the act of a single teacher and not a school-wide “indoctrination:”

Texas Girl Behind Mexican Pledge Story Responds

“I feel that this was an indoctrination,” Brinsdon responded. “Even with the slightest bit of influence to any children, I mean, it’s always huge. It’s always a major impact on kids, especially youth … .”

Yes she does and the teacher should be the subject of this not Brenda!! What nationality is the teacher? Me thinks she is Mexican with how she treated Brenda, and who didnt expect her to get a failing grade on the alternative assignment! We hear about similar things in colleges; go against teacher/ professor and you fail. Brenda shows their is still hope for this country, if we could get more kids like her who see the true right from wrong we would have junk like this to discuss. If more kids were awake we woldnt have to deal with the Soros funded Occupy movement. Remember Hitler said “He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future.”

Teachers and professors are the root of the problem. Tenure needs to go bye bye and unions need to go the way of the dinosaur! Lets take all the good they have done for the worker be it from the assembly line to the classroom and turn it into a law or amendment of some kind to protect workers. The worker in many instances has been replaced by machine its time forthe unions to meet the same fate having laws in their place to protect workers. You do this and the threat of indoctrination will go away. http://SavingtheRepublic.com

100% she gets it, she’s a smart and brave girl. I recall classes on foreign countries and we were never required to recite any other nation’s pledge of alleigance. When discussing the French Revolution La Marseillaise (French national anthem) was briefly discussed because of it’s context to the revolution, but not committed to recitation level. Some folk songs may have been learned, but NEVER pledges of alliegance to be recited in class. The mexican pledge of alliegance has no value to Americans. But that’s the whole point of leftist teachers….especially one with La Raza aspirations. By saying the pledge of alliegance is really just a poem or something like a Shakespeare sonnet (as was said about this) they devalue the American pledge also. By devaluing it, you begin to erode value in American identity. Once you’ve eroded that…then illegal immigration means nothing to anyone.

      Dear McAllen ISD,
The Pledge of Allegiance is only something you RECITE if the words mean nothing to you. For the majority of us Americans, we actually PREFORM that pledge. Although teaching cultural perspectives, products and practices is, of course, an enhancement to language teaching, requiring students to memorize a pledge and recite it in and of itself does nothing to promote their understanding of that other culture, nor of its language (rote memorization has been discredited as a language teaching method for over 30 years). Follow-up with contrast about what’s different between the two pledges and why the American one is superior should be the only valid pedagogical resolution to an otherwise useless waste of class time and student effort, not to mention to the patriotic health of the future American citizens you have accepted the sacred charge of training.
      Sincerely,
An MA in Second Language Acquisition, and a language teacher-training professional whose courses your teacher would have flunked.

Since the 80′s schools have been indoctrinating children. American history is only taught through the eyes of liberal 60′s idealists. Songs like “We are the World”, and overload indoctrination of environmental hazzards, and the constant message that America really isn’t a superpower and has an obligation to apologize is nonsense. We kicked butt, and we did it better than anyone else. The price our country has paid is priceless for thousands of soldiers gave there life to secure our freedom and status in the world. We need to get the federal government out of schools. The curriculum should be based on facts – not idealogy. There is so much money being thrown at schools and they still can’t teach children how to read, write, spell, and speak clearly. It is pathetic. The only thing they seem concerned is the student’s social agenda. The best thing parents can do to stop it, is to always review the books children are learning from. Be involved in what they are learning at school, and challenge them if what they are learning reeks of socialism and idealogy. Ask them what they know about the history of America. Contact your school and arrange to pick up a copy of all curriculum books, handouts, websites that students are directed to and review them.. And if you don’t like what you see, let your school board know. Good luck!

She is American ? And you know this how? Historically, it has taken two generations for immigrants to fully assimilate, although in the past the immigrants themselves attempted from the start. Now, depending upon the original culture, mindset, and reason for immigrating it may never happen. This person may, as you say, be an American (citizen of the Americas??), but what does that mean. I’ll assume you refer to her citizenship. That is meaningless. By having the students recite the Mexican anthem/pledge instead of the US of A pledge/anthem in Spanish, we now can infer her mindset. She’s obviously not thrilled to be here, but knows she has it better than being just across the border.

But then, again, we shouldn’t have any national fervor / pride should we, stxxol?

Stxxl: Are you saying you’re a Santos-birther? What will PROVE it to you?
From the original Blaze story at : http://www.theblaze.com/stories/blaze-exclusive-tx-high-school-students-made-to-recite-mexican-national-anthem-pledge-of-allegiance/

When Brinsdon talked to Santos — a first-year teacher at Achieve — about her new assignment, the teacher told her she grew up in Mexico.
“She told me that she loved Mexico,” Brinsdon said.

Not first person testimony, but it DOES sound like at least her STUDENT directly reports that Santos (the teacher in question) grew up Mexican (no matter her current citizenship status).

Really not the issue, though. Her job SHOULD be on the line for incompetence. She doesn’t know how to teach languages, based on the evidence of her use of rote memorization as a teaching technique. Also, I’m glad you understand how good America is, and am happy to add your heritage to the diversity in our country. So let’s pledge allegiance to our flag, and not take lightly the promises from our mouths to uphold the liberties of this land, and not “dedicate our existence” to another with the same mouth in any language.

I didn’t read whether she was born in America or not, but it did say she loved Mexico, and was there a while. I assumed it meant she was Mexican-American (either born here, or immigrated here) but still held allegience to Mexico. In the past when Mexicans joined our military, they didn’t still fly the Mexican flag, or deny America. now they do. You see Mexican owned businesses in Texas, flying all 3 flags, American, Texan and Mexican. If you immigrate, you are leaving your other country and joining with America. Does that mean you leave your culture? No. It means if it came down to it, you would fight for America and not Mexico. If you still have allegience to Mexico, what the heck are you doing here besides sucking off our benefits to send back home, where your heart is really? It just means they only like America for what she can give them, that Mexico can’t.

Good Girl! Your parents must be very proud of your ability to think for yourself, and to get the analysis right. We need many more like you that are willing to speak up and not just roll over for those that want to destroy allegiance to our country. Jesus’ statement “They know not what they do” likely applies here, but that is no excuse and it needs to be exposed and explained. A Spanish class is supposed to be about learning the language, which covers Spain as well as most of South America, so why the emphasis on Mexican pledge? Learning and repeating the Mexican Pledge crosses the line between “knowing about” and actually having to repeat the pledge.

Yes, her parents much be proud of her. Trouble is, many of us were brought up in the age where you gave teachers all the power with no questions asked. That was when most teachers could be trusted to teach RRR’s to the children and not try to indoctrinate them with this sort of thing. Now, it’s hard for me to trust very many who take these powers over our children. Teach and stay out of their lives and what their parents teach them. It’s none of your dam business other than teaching.

I truly hate these Union thug teachers we witnessed in Wisconsin. They act that way for the cameras and expect you to have faith in them to teach your children? I‘d fire ever one of them and put good teachers to work who aren’t into the profession to change minds the wrong way.

I am 50 years old, I remember when you decided what “You” Wanted to do with your own life…. and got out there and did it. It was the American way. You might have been working 3 jobs to get what you wanted. Our parents could not afford to help, but you didn’t think to ask. The goverment was never thought of while making our way… Our kids are learning to fight this, as parents we should work harder than the system, we are fighting. We should be working to get government out of the school system, out of the banks, our work place. We need to work hard for kids to have a chance, to have a American Dream.

The pledge represents our commitment and love for our country – it is far from meaningless, and our kids know it! Not all Hispanics here in the Rio Grande Valley are “Viva Mexico!” There are a quiet majority who are 100% American. Unfortunately, they are not in charge of much.

I moved here abt 12 years ago and have noticed that more English is starting to be spoken in places like Wal-Mart and the grocery. That said, it’s the devil to get a good job here if you are not related to someone who has been here a while. I have 2 masters degrees and can’t get interviews…suspect it’s my last name. It’s even harder for Black Americans than it is for White Americans to get hired. It was the second and third generations that started claiming we had “stolen” their land and wanted CA and TX returned to Mexico. I always assumed it was because the first group remembered what it was like in Mexico (or had been told by their parents) and later generations didn’t really know.

Notice that the teacher is Hispanic. I wish I had a nickel for everytime one of these people have attempted to bring her failed culture and country here to replace ours because her loyalty will always be to her own tribal members.

In 1995, San Diego, Calif., the US soccer team played Mexico. Most of the stadium was filled with Hispanics. There was a fairly large contingent of whites who came out to root for the US team.

When the national anthem was played, the Mexicans booed, hissed, threw beer on and spat at the US fans who were respectfully standing and singing the anthem.

When the Mexican team came out to the field, the US fans said nothing. The Mexicans cheered uproarously.

When the US team came out on the field it was the same booing, hissing, beer throwing and spitting as before.

It was determined later that most of these Hispanic spectators were here legally, many born here, but their allegience and loyalties were to Mexico.

A black American history teacher here in my area was fired a few years ago, because she was indoctrinating children with black mythical history, instead of American history.

Bush the first’s surgeon general, after being appointed embarked on a campaign to dedicate almost her entire time to “helping” her Mexican brothers and sisters. She was later the head of minority affairs and repainted her door to read “Director of the Emerging Majoritry.”

She was saying her people will soon take over. Whites have no such loyal

      1. She is a naturalized citizen of the United States. If this is the case, she took an oath to be loyal to THIS county, and renounced her citizenship in Mexico. If this is the case, she is not living up to her oath.
      2. She is NOT a naturalized citizen. She’s either illegal, and should be deported, or she has a VISA of some kind. If she has a VISA, it should be revoked immediately, and subsequently lose her job & be deported.

When I was in graduate school, I had a prof who wanted us to do his research for his doctoral degree. I wouldn’t. As a straight A student in graduate school, I garnered my only C. To this day, that C is a badge of honor for me.

Good for this young lady. Someone on her side needs to monitor the situation and actually sit in on the class, I think. If I were there, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Poor girl, I don’t want to make fun of her. But it’s not “unconstitutional” to have an assignment in a language class to learn a pledge, or sing the national anthem, or celebrate the holidays of that nation, or cook food from that nation. That’s done in language classes across the nation all the time, every day. It’s not indoctrination. I think we all know what this is about don’t we?

She’s right about one thing though: kids are the future of our nation.

Hey JZS we recited the US pledge of allegiance in our foriegn language classes when I was in school. I don’t care about any other countries pledges only ours. If I would have come home telling my father (D-Day vet) that my class was doing something like this, OH MY GOD!

He’d have really gotten upset with me. In high school we learned the words to Deutschland über alles. Somehow, I didn’t become a nazi! Here, sing along:

      German women, German loyalty,
      German wine and German song
      Shall retain in the world
      Their old beautiful chime
And inspire us to noble deeds
      During all of our life.
      German women, German loyalty,
      German wine and German song!

The schnitzel is pretty good too.

In 1st year German (1963) we recited the American Pledge in German. Even as a school assignment, no American should be required to pledge allegence to a foreign country.

Our stand needs to be even stronger than this. Has anyone tried to speak english in Miami or L.A.? Ask a memeber of La Raza to preach assimilation to the mexican immigrants. Watch the firewroks.

This FOX woman is either a total PC robot or spineless! She knew what Hank Williams Jr. meant when he made that comparison and still got all PC psycho on him… now she can’t even get behind this girl because she is a PC mindless robot. FOX CAN HER…she has NO SPINE… she is a total conflict avoider and ANY cost..

When I saw the Hank Williams interview, I thought the same thing. But think about it for a second: it was a stupid thing to say. And if she hadn’t called him on it, she’d be all over MSNBC about how FOX is racist or anti-semite or whatever. I feel she could have called him out without the stupid face of “shock” she kept showing, though.

You think she is bad, try watching Margret Hoover. She was on Hannity last night harping about how the WSO crowd were just fun loving kids, that have a point.

Thank God for fast forward, or I couldn’t stand to watch FOX anymore.

The least you will accept is the best your country will ever be. You will act as soon as they hit your least acceptable situation.
