A teenage boy from Pierce County, Washington, unwittingly stabbed his father to death Friday night when coming to the defense of his uncle. KOMO on the tragic turn of events:
Sgt. Mike Blair of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office told KOMO that the son ran out to the driveway of the home when seeing his uncle attacked by an unidentified assailant with a crowbar.
“The teen stabbed the attacker multiple times in an attempt to defend his uncle – not knowing that the attacker was his own father, Blair said.”
ABC News reports that the 47-year-old father was estranged from the family, and that the 17-year-old son has not yet been taken into custody.
“’He was standing up for the safety of his uncle — it just so happened that it ended up being his father who was killed,’ Blair said, adding, ‘certainly we would allow a member of our community to protect somebody who’s being feloniously assaulted, and that’s kind of where we’re at right now.
‘Based on the circumstances … we were comfortable that this person is not a danger to the rest of society,’ he said.”
The father’s girlfriend could not explain why he would have started the fight with his brother.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 4:19pmTo see a family member being beaten with a crowbar, go to defend them and in so doing kill another family member, and that a parent – I cannot imagine. Puts my own troubles in a different perspective. May the Lord grant the young man peace.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 2:04pmWow, this is just sad. I hope that the 17 year old boy understands that is was because of the actions his father had taken, that his father had died. If his father had not attacked his uncle with a crowbar than the son would have not had to defend his uncle. That said, either way it is going to be very hard for him to live with what happened.

This is a very sad thing and people make jokes?? Where is your humanity? My condolences to the family, to the young man who will have to live with this.. he did the right thing.. but a very sad outcome. God help!

Looks to me like you are the judgmental one and need to go play in another sandbox with your friends and leave this one to people who like being here.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 10:06amWhen you outlaw crowbars, only outlaws will have crowbars. I think that mandating crowbar owners be licensed and put on watch list is sufficient.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 11:52amSame tired joke. Comparing a crowbar to a gun is a false equivalency.
If the father had a gun then the uncle and the kid would be dead.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 7:17amMay I suggest that we background check for crowbars, mabey a waiting period? I think that the only people that really need to carry these tools are Tow truck drivers.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 7:33amWe do not need no background checks to purchase Crowbars. Oblahblah and his Libturd useful idiotts will have them banned by Executive order. Then only criminals will carry them to beat down the lawful citizens in the streets who no longer can defend themselves. A black market for unregistered Crowbars will flurish under mob organized crime. Homicide rates will climb as violence between mob families break out for turf. Anyone can get a Crowbar for a price and no one knows who has one since there is no longer any registration required. Prohibition all over again folks…..now apply that to the Libturds fantasy of banning guns.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 8:50amDon’t forget rocks.
We need rock control laws, too!
If you take away their crowbars, they’ll get their hands on rocks… SOMEHOW.
Or, maybe if we only make NON-LETHAL crowbars !!!
They could all be made out of Nerf Foam !
We could have government run agencies that change tires with those robotic/mechanized tire mounting machines. Then, everyone could come to the government agency for tire changes.
Of course, we will need a government run towing company, because roadside tire changes will also be forbidden. Just think how much lovelier the highways will be without roadside tire changes. Hmmm… The Department of Mandated Vehicular Support? (DMVS) The DMVS would be very efficient, we ALL know that!
Then, we could gather ALL the rocks in the world, and grind them down and polish them into pretty little creek pebbles. Awwww… won’t those be prettier than all that crush-and-run gravel? Of course, we will need a government agency to do this. Perhaps the Rock Grading and Polishing Bureau? (RGPB) or, we could have the OMNIPOTENT BUREAU AND MACHINED AGGREGATE (“OBAMA”)
Report Post »Being omnipotent, we would no longer require elections, either. Just think of all the time and money we will save.
