Teenager Claims She Was Raped at the Occupy Cleveland Protest

There’s some potentially tragic drama unfolding at “Occupy Cleveland,” as police are investigating a 19-year-old woman’s claim that she was raped inside of a tent on Saturday.

The teenager at the center of the scandal attends Summit Academy in Parma, Ohio — a school for young people who have Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism and hyperactivity, among other educational disabilities.

After she told a teacher about the incident, police were informed and an investigation commenced. Following the girl’s statements, she was also taken to an emergency room and a rape kit and examination were administered. WJW-TV has more:

She apparently alleges that “rally personnel” at Occupy Cleveland told her to share a tent with the suspect, as there was a shortage of sleeping space for the occupants. So, the girl got into the tent with a man (she claims his name is “Leland”) and went to sleep. Later, she says she woke up and the man was molesting her.

Erin McCardle, the spokesperson for the local movement, read an on-camera statement after she saw a police report that documented the purported occurrence. “This is a very serious allegation and we are cooperating with the Cleveland Police Department to find out what actually occurred,” she said.

Organizers of Occupy Cleveland claim that tent “assignments” are not made and that no one is familiar with the victim or the alleged perpetrator. McCardle made this fact clear in addressing the incident. ”We do not tent people by direction. Everyone chooses who to tent with,” she said. “We provide the tents donated by the community.”

Organizer Rebecca Hawkins mirrored these statements. ”We are a community group, we do not have leaders, we are a leaderless movement,” Hawkins said. “So your [tent] assignment would be your own choice of what you wanted to do.”

These allegations in Cleveland come at the same time that a convicted felon believed to be a part of the Occupy Seattle protests was arrested for having a shotgun in his bag (police do not believe he was a threat to anyone, though). While he was not accused of threatening anyone, felons are not allowed to possess firearms.

In a separate incident, Seattle police have arrested a man suspected of exposing himself numerous times to children at or around the protests.

The stories coming out of the Occupy movement keep on getting wilder.

      @ Mikem1969. If you read the story you would know that the young lady has developmental issues. How they would affect her judgment I don’t not know. However I’m really quite surprised that this is the first incident of this kind happening among such a large collection of petulant malcontents.After having seen the image of one of their comrades defecating on a police car nothing surprises me.     I’m really sorry to hear what happened to this girl. However she has to understand, this is the future that the Occupy groups are creating. By doing this forced chaotic collapsing of Wall Street, banks, and financial systems, they will collapse the entire US economy and with it, law, order, and the ability to run the country will fall with it.

    So what do these occupiers reap from their efforts? No currency, no way to pay for things, no gas or fuel, rampant theft, rape and killing. If she didn’t like the idea of being raped, then she should stop for a few minutes – clear all of the leftist BS out of her head and ask herself a few very simple questions:

    1. I have no money, how will I pay for things?
    2. Will I have to exchange sex for some food, water, maybe shelter?
    3. Will I be killed in the streets if I go outside?
    4. What will happen to my parents and grandparents, will they be killed if looters come into their homes or they go out trying to find food and water?
    5. What will stop those in power from taking over the military, or what will stop people from stealing arms and creating their own bands of military looter/rape groups?
    6. What will stop hostile nations from invading the US, taking everything and killing everyone?

    I guess she and the Occupiers haven’t really thought about this… all the peace loving, drum beating isn’t going to save you from the murders who will come for her and the occupy people… and they will.

      As for the young woman who was raped, it doesn’t matter why she was there. Rape is a violent crime and no woman deserves it. Anyone who believes rape is deserved is at least misguided.

    On TV and radio (ie: Howard Stern) they talk incessantly about hank panky going on in those tents. You would think that they would have monitors or something to keep down the crime…when you have young people thrown together with booze and drugs…what do they think happens. This is all a mess and it is going to get worse.

      When Socialist Culture of Death Elitists congregate, bad things are bound to happen. The entire “Occupy….“ movement is bent on destruction of ”the system”. This incident is just one more example of their irresponsibility and proof of the fruits of their policies. When the 2012 election comes around, keep in mind that the current Socialist Culture of Death President and his party embrace these mobs and their activities. Elections have consequences, and, as exemplified by the current administration and it’s policies, those consequences can be morally, economically and physically deadly.

      The problem is the “community organizers” of this have one thing in mind and that is revolution, which will lead to power for them against us. So, instead of the supposed 1% manipulating everyone, we will have 0.00001% managing every aspect of your life from whether you will be allowed to be born to the death panels. Vote the democratic socialists out of office asap!
