Teens Arrested for Brutal Bullying of 13-Year-Old Kid: ‘Tossed in a Tree’ & ‘Hung From a Fence’

The video is almost too heartbreaking to watch. It shows seven older teens attacking a 13-year-old in a case of extreme bullying. The older boys, from near Philadelphia, PA, randomly target the younger one, and proceed to drag him, throw him in a tree, and even try to hang him from a fence. The attackers seem to have aided in their own capture by taping the incident and posting it on the internet.
My Fox Philly reports:
On January 11, Nadin Khoury was walking home from school when he was randomly picked out by the teens, who Upper Darby police chief Michael Chitwood called a “wolfpack.”
After 30 minutes of physical abuse in public, a woman driving by the scene jumped out of her car, ran the bullies off and took the teen home.
Now, Khoury says he’s been told by his middle school not to return to class, and his family has had to move after they allegedly were threatened.
Despite the recent events, Khoury says he is ready to testify in the case.
“They started punching me, kicking me, one of them stomping on my chest. There’s nothing you can do. You can’t fight back or it comes down even worse. You can’t say anything besides stop or call for help, for somebody come help you. There’s nothing you can do. All you can do is sit there and wait for it to be over,” the victim recalled.
The attackers, several of whom have juvenile records, have been arrested and charged with a myriad of crimes, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, and reckless endangerment. They will not, however, be tried as adults.
(See more pictures from the Philadelphia Inquirer.)
The teen bullies aren’t the only ones to come under fire for video showing abuse. Recently, a mother who appeared on TV with Dr. Phil regarding her discipline tactics — which included forcing her son to eat hot sauce and take cold showers – was charged with child abuse after authorities saw the segment:

If white kids hung a black kid in a tree the way these kids did, you wouldn’t be able to get Sharpton or Jackson off the TV or the riots stopped for weeks. You know you won‘t hear a peep out of either of them cause it doesn’t fit the agenda.

Posted on February 1, 2011 at 2:12pmKids have no parents at home, half the time kids who get in trouble don’t even have parents who work or parents who were 13 when they had their child. As we turn more and more into a Maurie Povich “who’s the Daddy”, Jerry Springer “you don’t know me” society that is supposed to be controlled by some bureaucrat from Washington DC rather than parents and neighbors in a community, who do we blame? The kids who received no upbringing from the adults in the community.
Bullying isn’t right but there is something wrong with putting all the blame on teenagers who are raising themselves on the streets and turning every teenage immaturity caught on camera into a police action and national news.

There’s also an addition to your comment that many seem to ignore. Even kids from two-parent homes do vile things as well. I saw it when my son was picked on for years, and lived it a long time when I was a kid. I add in the mindset of school administrators to either turn a blind eye; or find excuses; or consider the target of a gang equally ‘guilty’ if the kid defends himself. Even the victim calling names against his attackers makes him equally culpable.
There is a mindset out there among some parents that bullying isn’t a bad thing, that it ‘toughens’ a kid. Then there are so-called ‘good’ parents who have the not-my-kid mentality. I’ve seen it, when I worked for the security contingent of a private community. Never mind, in one case, I had four witnesses to an act of vandalism and the witnesses knew the boys by name. The father stood there, saying to me and a State Trooper that his son never left the house after returning from school. The Trooper–more educated, experienced, and trained than I–didn‘t buy the father’s story, either. But the Trooper could do nothing, by the law.
Your point is totally valid, to be sure. For myself, though, I often wonder which is worse–a broken home with no values or a ‘solid’ home that teaches distorted ones.

Posted on February 1, 2011 at 2:04pmI imagine the boy is advised not to return to school because he might be attacked again. Translation: The school is inadequate to the task of protecting him and doesn’t want a lawsuit.

Posted on February 1, 2011 at 3:00pmHow is the school responsible? Those 7 boys are responsible! Not one of them had the integrity to suggest to the others that they not gang up on one smaller boy! The school cooperated completely, allowing the police to come in and arrest the thugs in front of the other students, which will show them that this type of behavior will not be protected by the school. Let’s stop blaming everyone else for the woes of society. Put the accountability on each individual for his own actions.
Report Post »mitcha_ca_sux
Posted on February 1, 2011 at 4:00pmSure blame the school. When the School is responsible WHY must the Taxpayer be stuck with the BILL?? How about the PARENTS are held responsible and spend the rest of their lives paying? In any case this has nothing to do with school except lack of education.

Posted on February 1, 2011 at 1:56pmAnother story about black on black crime.
Report Post »azmomof6
Posted on February 1, 2011 at 2:45pmThey could actually classify it as a “hate” crime. It’s not just a simple black on black crime. It’s American blacks on an African boy crime. They said he was singled out because of his mother’s Nigerian accent. I think all crimes are “hate” crimes. There really is no such thing as a loving, friendly crime. I don’t really think we should call the same act a hate crime when it happens to one group, like gays, but not a “hate” crime when it happens to someone else. That allows for special protections for some people but not others. How is it constitutional to give more freedoms, rights, or protections to only some citizens? What happened to equal rights and protections under U.S. law? As much as I disagree with making a “hate” crime distinction, it does exist, and this crime qualifies for that distinction.
