Teens Reportedly Beaten for ‘Tebowing’ During High School Basketball Game

The contentious presidential race isn’t the only drama unfolding in South Carolina. A basketball game between two Charleston high schools last Tuesday reportedly turned ugly when two fans of the winning team were allegedly beaten for “Tebowing.”

Teens Allegedly Beate for Tebowing During High School Basketball Game

The battle between Wando High and West Ashley High ended, according to The Post and Courier, with the two Wando supporters being attacked in a parking lot. The teens had apparently replicated Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow’s iconic prayer stance during the game, which ended in a 20-point defeat for West Ashley.

Apparently, there’s been a bit of a negative history between the two schools. Last year, a Wando parent punched a West Ashley teacher in the face following a varsity game.

While there is no way of knowing, the Tebowing gesture may have been used as a means to poke at the losing team, especially considering the troubled history and bad blood that exists between the two schools. Again, the teens‘ motivations weren’t clear.

“They were scared for their lives,” said Lara Isaac, the mother of one of the 17-year-old victims. “No one was manning the exits to make sure this wouldn’t happen. The kids who did this apparently knew that.”

The Post and Courier has more regarding the specifics of the attack:

[Isaac's] son was chased into a parking lot by a group of boys, according to a police incident report. He tried to defend himself, but his attackers slammed him to the pavement, kicked and punched him. He came home with a torn shirt, scraped knees and elbows, and a welt on his forehead.

The other boy was punched in the stomach so many times that he began vomiting in the bushes outside the doorway. Isaac said Wando athletic officials came to that boy’s aid.

Teens Allegedly Beate for Tebowing During High School Basketball Game

The school, though, claims that it tried to do everything it could to prevent the incident from unfolding. Knowing this troubling history, a spokesperson for the Charleston County School District claims that security had been increased for the event and West Ashley’s athletic director, Richard Luden, said, “I felt we did everything on our end of it.”

The teams are slated to face one another again on Jan. 27.

    Hey BILLY HALLOWELL,

try writing a real piece sometime you journalistic fraud. You are a disgusting excuse for a journalist. This article is yet another misleading title to draw in the Christian imbeciles. You would think that players were assaulted on the basketball court “During” the game according to this idiot’s title.

Billy, you are a joke and you should be ashamed at how terrible you are at your profession.

It also says in the Bible to pray without ceasing & to rejoice in the Lord. King David danced in the streets celebrating God & he was called a friend of God. I believe Teebow is giving God Glory not & not ashamed of bowing down to him. I don’t believe he is doing this for himself.

Sounds like there is a lot of punk-hood going on between these two teams. Here’s an idea! Cancel the basketball season. When these little twerbs decide to act like decent men and women that can play in and attend a sporting event, then maybe we’ll talk about letting yall play again. But until your village idiots begin to win some kind of semblance of SELF CONTROL, then NOBODY is playing basketball. Watch how fast these teams hold their parents and students RESPONSIBLE. I know, I’d piss EVERYBODY OFF. I don‘t give a rat’s ass! SCREW SPORTS. People think they can’t live without it. Apparently alot of people here can’t live WITH it. You don’t need sports to survive. You don’t NEED sports to thrive. If you can do it without violence against the other, great, play ball. But if you can’t OH WELL! Come to MY HOUSE and bitch about it when I cancel it too! Wanna come and beat me up? I’ll put a load of BUCKSHOT up your asses!

I see Tim TeBow as an inspiration, he is not afraid to acknowledge Jesus publicly…John 1:22 Who is the Liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the anti-christ…he denies the Father and the Son. The Left does not want our youth to be inspired by a Godly man who has values!

Withhold judgment. The reporting on this story seems more about playing up the anti-religion, anti-Tim Tebow story line than in accuracy. We all know that teen-agers are not noted for their decision making skills but you should seriously doubt that this “incident” had anything to do with religion or religious persecution. Although we can hope that the students involved were making religious declarations, my first instinct would be to attribute these events to old animosities and macho posturing. Is it a cliché to bring up the idea of students feeling “dissed” on their home court by opposing fans after a humiliating defeat? (South Carolina High School Basketball – West Ashley trounced by Wando – January 10, 2012: Charleston, SC 29414 – The Wando Warriors routed the host West Ashley Wildcats basketball team by a final score of 67-46 in Tuesday’s league game.) The reporter notes this as a possibility with the line: “…the Tebowing gesture may have been used as a means to poke at the losing team…” Is it possible that race comes into the story? West Ashley High School, the humiliated host team, has predominantly minority student enrollment and Wando High School’s enrollment is predominantly white. As an old high school teacher I know that an adult would learn a lot of information by interviewing some of the students, especially those who were present but didn’t play a direct role in the incident. ,

    Matthew 6
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
    Prayer
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

    “‘Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
    10 your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]

We are being mocked at christmas, still we get louder, we get mocked everytime a person kneels and prays, still we get louder, we get mocked when the FFRF wants to remove the ten commandments from a school or state building, still we get louder, very soon we will be silent because Jesus will come and take His church from this earth, then the seven year tribulation will begin and all those who mocked the church will wish for the good old days when we christians were getting louder and they still refused to listen to the truth! May the Lord God Almighty have mercy on this nation!

It‘s truly sad that so many in today’s society have forgotten what the word respect or the word tolerate means. Why is it so horrible that there are individuals that believe in God and thank him every day for all that they have and even their own being? Is it because they have no belief in themselves so they have to lash out at others? I have been taught and have taught my children that all people, no matter what their race, religion, sexual orientation, non-belief, etc are equal; I just wish that others would learn the same thing.

American Christians apparently have turned into the biggest *******. Amazing. The libs kick God out of the schools, and teach outright lies to our kids, and Christians do nothing. You not only do nothing, but you send off your kids to be lied to and indoctrinated. Libs kill 50 million babies in abortion mills. Christians sit in their pews and have abortions.. Hollywood attacks and mocks God, and Christians go watch their stupid movies.

Hey Christians – the Libs have sent you off to your churches, and told you to keep your big mouths shut when you are not in church, and you have obeyed. The Libs know the Bible better than you do, so – they are able to take Scriptures out of context to control you, and you fall for it every time.

Until Christians start truly honoring the Christ they claim to love and serve, Barack Obama is the leadership they deserve.

Oh gee whiz – am I being to harsh here? Too bad.

How frustrating it must be for atheists who can’t remove God from our country. They put out one fire here, stomp out another fire there but the praise and worship of God keeps getting louder and louder. Christian voices are beginning to overpower the very few. Secularists try to portray themselves as the mighty majority because of the state media and rogue judges when in reality they are the tiny Wizard of Oz behind the curtain. We outnumber them. They can no longer dictate their evil agenda. Jesus said, “the truth shall set you free.” We are ready for freedom starting in November.

When the US Supreme Court threw God out of the classroom in 1963 no one had any idea things would degenerate so quickly. The public schools are now cesspools and the secularists only solution is to pass anti-bullying laws and let students transfer to flee the violence.

This is what persecution looks like. Their personal gesture was to God in reverence which is not a direct insult towards any persons. But in todays culture, it is taught that anything about God shown in a public place is on par with yelling a racial epithet which we all know people are using this to grant themselves permission to kick your butt. When we were in grade school they taught us not to fight based on words…sticks and stones right? There aren’t even words involved here but they enemy is still inspired to hate and crush those who show publically they are allegiant to God.

I know that this message MUST be shared throughout the whole world before Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead in fulfillment of prophecy. My comment was to offset all the Tebow hype here and all those who thinks he stands for something other than himself. He draws unnecessary attention to himself purposely. He could simple pray on the sidelines or even in the huddle without the display. He is a pro quarterback and the attention he receives should be for his ability to do that well. No doubt many on the field and in the stands pray as often as him. They just feel a need to draw attention to the fact.
