Police said Wednesday they are searching for a missing Maryland tanker truck loaded with 3,000 gallons of gasoline, stoking fears of a possible terror threat.
The 10-wheel truck disappeared sometime between 4:30 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday from a secure lot in northeastern Maryland, authorities said. According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, the chainlink fence leading into the lot was cut and the thief hot wired the truck to get it out.
While nothing in the investigation points to a threat, the FBI has been called in to assist with the search Coming just days the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 and reports of a possible Al Qaida plot, Kent County Sheriff’s Sgt. Glenn Owens acknowledged, “there’s greater concern it may be connected to terrorism.”
Police said they have no surveillance video of the theft and the truck does not have GPS tracking. The truck has an Alger Oil logo on the tank and a license plate number 310E03.
Alger services the upper Eastern Shore and Harford County in Maryland, northern Delaware and southern Pennsylvania. Officials say the delivery trucks aren’t usually seen outside the areas they serve.
“If 9/11 had not happened 10 years ago, you would just think wow someone is stealing the gas because gas prices are high,” nearby resident Rhonda Cataldo told Baltimore’s ABC 2 News.

Posted on September 14, 2011 at 5:06pmNo threat, way to conspicuous. This truck is sitting in a dark garage somewhere as it’s contents are sold 10 gallons at a time.

Posted on September 14, 2011 at 11:40pmI would tend to agree, either what you said or quite a few other possibilities. It’s 3000 gallons of gasoline, at a discounted $3.00 a gallon that is a quick $9000. Of course the value of the gas would be even higher if it was taken by another retailer or someone who has a fleet of vehicles

Posted on September 14, 2011 at 4:33pmSorrry, but this day and age you must assume terrorism first. If you are wrong, then no harm. If you are right but don’t catch them in time, this would make one hell of an air/fuel bomb. I can’t believe how dismissive folks are of this.

Posted on September 14, 2011 at 2:45pmI can see keeping and eye on this situation, anything’s possible_ but it makes me wonder what Obama and his band of Merry Thieves are going to do, while we’re watching for this stolen truck full of gas?

Posted on September 14, 2011 at 2:43pmHere we go again folks. First it is Obama’s Fast & Furious gun walking program, then last week the 14,000 rounds of ammunition from Ft. Bragg and now this gasoline truck comes up missing all under the watch of Obama/Holder and they have nothing to say about any of these crimes. The community organizers whom are the robots for Obama are most certianly behind these stupid ideas they have and the gas, the bulletts and the guns will be used against the American people in his effort to be reelected.

Posted on September 14, 2011 at 2:02pmDoes anyone remember this case of missing “hazardous cargo?”
http://www.nytimes.com/1997/08/18/us/jet-s-crash-in-april-still-a-mystery-to-air-force.html?ref=craigdavidbutton
In 1997, an Air Force A-10 fighter/bomber pilot took off from Davis-Mothan AFB in Colorado. The then proceeded for fly 800 miles off course where he crashed and committed “suicide” in one of the most remote areas of the Rocky Mountains, above the 13,000 foot elevation. During the crash site investigation, it was determined that the plane was missing four 500-lb bombs.
The curious thing is that 800 miles is beyond the un-refueled cruise range for that aircraft. In other words, the guy could not have flown 800 miles with out refueling on the ground or off an airborne tanker. How did he get from point A to point B some 800 miles away? What happened to the four 500-lb bombs? This was a story that just quietly went away in 1997 and still is unresolved and the bombs are un-recovered. That’s one The Blaze folks might want to look into.
